March 8, 1927, in Rogersville, Alabama, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, January 2, 2012. She was a member of West Maryville Baptist Church. Preceded in death by: husband, Wm. Ray Adams. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Larry Caldwell of Maryville; daughter, Sharon Adams of Morristown; grandchildren, Roger Russell Jr. and wife Katie, Robin Russell Kiser and husband Mike, Natalie Adams, Abbie Adams; great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Hunter Kiser, Nicklus Russell; sister, Martha Nell Childers of Maryville; several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express a special thank you for the compassion and care to Dr. Steve Kiefer, Dr. David Knoll, and the staff of Morningview Transitional Care. William Herbert Eaton, Sr.
William Herbert Eaton, Sr., age 73, of Maryville, went home to be with Jesus on January 5, 2012. He was of Baptist faith. He was an electronics teacher in Knoxville for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was an amazing husband and father. Preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Nettie Eaton: brother, Jim Eaton and sister, Margaret Snyder. Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Eaton: daughters, Vicki Avery, Kim Karnes and Valerie Hutsell; and one son, Bill Eaton Jr.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Townsend and Mary Lou Belcher. His body will be cremated. Funeral/Memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Turner Street Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Townsend and Rev. Wayne Karnes officiating. Ronald G. Beatty
Ronald G. Beatty, of Maryville, passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2012. He was born
October 31, 1950, in Sheridan, Manitoba, Canada, and moved to the U.S. in the mid 1950’s. He graduated from Medina High School, Class of 1968. He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps 1969-1971, and was a Vietnam vet. He loved his work as a carpenter for the last 38 years and was currently employed with Hickory Construction. Ron enjoyed golf and spent his leisure time admiring the Great Smoky Mountains from his rocking chair. He enjoyed spending time with his precious granddaughter, Morgan Beatty. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Roland “Buster” Beatty and Catherine (Cook) Beatty; and a niece, Megan Galliher. Survivors include two sons, Travis Beatty, Raleigh, N.C., and Jeremy Beatty, Medina, N.Y.; his fiancée, Denise Parada, Maryville; two brothers, Scott Beatty, Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Brian (GayAnne) Beatty, Loudon; a sister, Donna (Jerry) Walters, Gillette, Wyo.; granddaughter, Morgan Beatty, Raleigh, N.C.; he also had several nieces and nephews. A remembrance gathering will take place on Friday, March 2, at 5 p.m. at the American Legion, Maryville, Tenn. Nadia Ann Buckner
Nadia Ann Buckner, 78, of Rockford, died Sunday, February 26, 2012. She is survived by sons, Duncan MacGregor and Iain MacGregor; grandchildren; sisters, Lydia Reid of Australia and Edda Harris of England; stepchildren, Michelle Buckner, Corbin H. Buckner, Jr., Cherie Huntington and Jeff Buckner; brother and sister-in-law, James and Wilma Buckner. Tom McCarter
Tom McCarter, age 75, of Maryville, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012, at his home. He was a Deacon at Broadway and Madison Avenue Baptist churches, Secretary of Deacons at Madison Avenue Baptist Church and was a church greeter, and co-chairman of the Food Ministry team. He graduated from Maryville High School and the University of Tennessee, served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard at Rhinestein, Germany. He worked at ALCOA for 30 years, where he was a supervisor in the storeroom, was treasurer of Knox Area Corvair Club, was past member of Alcoa Kiwanis Club, was past president of the Blount County Republican Party and also belonged to the Masonic Lodge. Mr. McCarter was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristi Leigh McCarter; parents, Clay and Frances McCarter; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lee and June Taylor. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Taylor McCarter; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Clint Juday; granddaughters, Karissa Juday and Kailyn Juday; brother and sister-in-law, M.C. and Helen McCarter of Harragut, Tenn.; nieces, nephews and cousins. Steve Duggan
Steve Duggan, age 58, of Wildwood, died Sunday, February 12, 2012, at Blount Memorial Hospital. Steve was well-known in Blount County as a graphic artist. He had worked for The Daily Times and later started his own company, Steve Duggan Design. He touched the lives of many and will be missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Duggan of Rockford. Survivors include his wife and soulmate of 34 years, Jama Duggan; son and daughter-in-law, Shauel and Teresa Duggan; daughter and son-in-law, Amelia and Daniel Parvin; daughter, Amerrica Duggan, all of Maryville; grandchildren, Devin Morris, Rilee, Reece, Emory, and Carys Parvin, Caleb and Jordan Duggan; mother, Peggy Duggan; brother, Charles Eddie Duggan; sister, Susie Duggan, all of Rockford. William Dennis Satterfield, age 62, of Friendsville, left this earthly world to be with his heavenly Father on Thursday, February 2, 2012. He was a member of Laurel Bank Baptist Church. He retired after 37 years of service from ALCOA Aluminum Company, where he was a member of their 25-Year Club and continued working as a contractor for five years. Dennis was the proud founder and owner of B&D Sports now known as C&C Outdoors. He was preceded in death by father, Ernest Satterfield; niece, Amanda Satterfield; special friend, Gary Lindsey. Eleanore G. DeYoung died peacefully on August 11, 2012, at her home in Shannondale of Maryville in Maryville, Tenn. Eleanore was born
August 21, 1918, in Chicago, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob LeNoble and Nettie VerHaar LeNoble; and her eldest daughter, Janet Grant (Bill). Survivors include her children, Ellie DeYoung (Joe Siudara), Hardy DeYoung (Sarah) and Marti DeYoung (Al Distefano); grandchildren, Lisa Kornfeld (Gregg) and Elizabeth Rich; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Ian Kornfeld; dear friend, Florence Johnson (Harry); siblings, John LeNoble and Lucille LeNoble; nieces and nephews; and an extensive network of friends and their families who are our extended family. Her family will always be grateful for the love and care she received from the staff at Shannondale. Eleanore earned degrees from Hope College, Wayne State and Rutgers universities, served the congregation of Redford Presbyterian Church (MI), and Nassau Presbyterian Church (N.J.), taught English at Hightstown High School (N.J.), joined Education Testing Service (ETS), and retired at the age of 80, then volunteered at the neighborhood kindergarten in Hamilton Sq. (N.J.). She loved her parents, siblings, nieces/nephews, and was proud and devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished her lifelong friends, extended family and new friends in Maryville, where she moved in 2002 to be near her son and daughter-in-law. She was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church. Eleanore was a positive thinker and champion for Hope, Belief, Acceptance, Equality, Education and the Empowerment of others. She will be missed and always remembered. The celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2012, at the Shannondale of Maryville Chapel, 804 Shannondale Way, Maryville, TN 37803. Itolene Heatherly George
Itolene Heatherly George, age 92, of Maryville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 16, 2012, at her daughter's home. She was born
in Campbell County, Tenn. She was one of seven children born
to John H. and Louis (Dinwiddie) Heatherly. Her younger years were spent raising her four children on a farm in Blount County. Her later years were challenging due to her blindness, but she always saw the beauty in family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert Don George, Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Delores Hummel and husband, Robert; sons, Robert George, Jr. and wife, Dorinda; Ronnie George and wife, Robin; Bobby Lockwood and wife, Gloria. She leaves behind several well-loved grandchildren and wonderful great-grandchildren that brought her many happy memories. Her entire family was a great comfort to her. Gram was a special person that loved sharing her gum and butterscotch candies with all. She also leaves behind many friends, young and old, as well as loving nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Avalon Hospice and their caring staff including Lisa, Mary, Patti and Stacey.
