Betty Ann Thomas Pyle, age 67, of Maryville, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Blount Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was a 1963 graduate of Everett High School. Betty was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded by her parents, William and Martha Thomas, daughter, Denise Pyle. Survivors include husband of 46 years, Walter Lloyd Pyle; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Beth Pyle, Ricky and Melisha Pyle; grandchildren, Chelsey, Kaitlyn, Allison, and Corey; brother, Bob Thomas, and brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Linda Thomas. Several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the nurses on 5 East at Blount Memorial Hospital. Funeral service 7 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2012, in the Smith Trinity Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Cummings and Rev. Gary Thomas officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2012, for the interment icon at Grandview Cemetery. Beatrice Gibson Braden

Beatrice Gibson Braden, age 88, of Maryville, passed away, Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at the family home. Preceded in death by husband, Ed Braden; parents, Harrison and Mary Gibson; sister, Aileen Evans; granddaughter, Karen Herrera. Survived by daughter, Betty Garibay of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Billie and Derryl Payne of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Edwina and Frank Neace of Maryville; son and daughters-in-law, Michael and Vonda Braden of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Charles Millsaps of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Beth Braden of Maryville; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; three sisters; one brother; several nieces and nephews; special caregivers, Mary Gredig and Amber Vance. Alice Faye Seal King

Alice Faye Seal King passed away Friday, July 6, 2012, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by parents, Elmer and Virginia Stonecipher Seal; brother, Kenneth Seal. Survivors include a daughter, two grandchildren, brother, Jimmy (Jodean) Seal; uncle, Roy (Maxine) Stonecipher. She was cremated and no services are planned.

Kenneth D. Halvorsen

Kenneth D. Halvorsen, age 71, of Louisville, passed away Monday, July 2, 2012, at the family home. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was active from 1962 to 1966 during the Vietnam era. He was of the Protestant faith. Kenneth retired from United Food and Commercial Workers as a butcher for over 40 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Gertrude Halvorsen; and brother, Raymond Halvorsen. Survivors include loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Connie Halvorsen; daughter, Donna Halvorsen; granddaughter, Monica Halvorsen; brothers, Richard Halvorsen and wife, Barbara, Eugene Halvorsen and wife, Marie, John Halvorsen and wife, Diane, Bill Halvorsen, and Scott Halvorsen; sisters, Beverly Schramm, Carolyn Scott; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carmella Guardi and husband, John, Mike DiSalvo and wife Marie, Pat DiSalvo and wife Trina, and Mary Sarenac and husband Ralph; many nieces, nephews, and other family also survive. Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Larry Teaster officiating. Family and friends will assemble for interment icon at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery icon in Knoxville. Carl W. Boring

Carl W. Boring, age 77, of Maryville, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Blount Memorial Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Frances R. Boring; son and daughter-in-law, David and Barbara Boring; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and John McLeod; grandchildren, Misty and Jason Perry, Jason Boring, Sheila Wilson, Candice and Chris Davis; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Reese, Troy Boring, Brooke, Lane Perry and Haley, CJ Davis; sister, Faye Grimshaw of Mableton, Ga.; brothers, Bob Boring, Luther Boring; half-sisters, Audrey, Carolyn, Treva and Roberta; half-brother, Roger. William ‘Herman’ Kagley

William “Herman” Kagley, 91, passed away peaceably at Asbury Place Thursday, June 21, 2012. He was a WWII veteran serving in Germany. He was a lifelong Blount Countian owning his own TV service and later satellite business for over 35 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Olive Kagley (March 13, 2012); stepdaughter, Melba “Ann” Olive; and stepson, Harold Olive. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Bill Grindstaff; stepdaughter, Dorothy Smithey; daughters, Carmelita Dyke, and Jo Ann Pickens and husband Bill; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Memorial services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Out Reach Christian Church, 920 Calderwood Highway, Maryville, with Rev. Clifford Debety and Bill Grindstaff officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Bertha Viola King Patton

Bertha Viola King Patton, age 88, of Madisonville, passed away Wednesday morning, June 20, 2012, at Wood Presbyterian Home. Member of Notchey Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include husband of 73 years, Rev. James H. Patton; daughters and sons-in-law, Viola and Jim Young, Maryville, Alberta and Howard Watkins, Vonore; sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Ralph and Imogene Patton, Randall and Virginia Patton, all of Madisonville, Verlin and Edna Patton, Tellico Plains; 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Faye Dunlap, Maryville, Arminda Self, Vonore; half-sisters, Mary Garrett, Vonore, Freida Gunter, Madisonville, half-brother, James B. King, Vonore; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by daughter and son-in-law, Clemma Mary Jane and George Link; infant son, Ernest Lee Patton; great-granddaughter, Holly Watkins; parents, Henderson and Sally Haynes King; sisters, Offie Patton, Dovie Millsaps; brother, Leonard King; half-sisters, Annie Millsaps and Gladys Duncan; half-brothers, Roscoe Woods and Elmer Woods. Thanks to all the kind folks at Wood Presbyterian Home. Funeral will be 8 p.m. Friday, Notchey Creek Baptist Church, Rev. Gale Miller, Rev. Frank Hicks officiating; interment, 11 a.m. Saturday, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Friday at Notchey Creek Baptist Church. Friends may call at their convenience from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.

Rev. Gerald Hart McFarland, 80, Maryville, died Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Physicians Regional Medical Center, Knoxville. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.

Doris Anne Sullivan Lambert

Doris Anne Sullivan Lambert, age 76, of Maryville, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Maryville. After raising a family, she went back to school to finish her education. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Education in 1983, and served as librarian for 16 years at Lanier School in Blount County. She was preceded in death by her son, Greg Lambert; parents, J.J. and Margaret Stone Sullivan; sister, Barbara Adams. Survivors include her beloved husband of 56 years of marriage, Gerald (Jerry) Lambert; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Lynn Lambert of Knoxville; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Matt Bennett of Maryville, Jenny and Brian Kamperman of Summerville, S.C.; grandchildren, Jessica and husband Gavin Mayo of Helena, Ala., Sarah and husband Franklin Graves of Nashville, Michael and wife Elisha Bennett of Maryville, Tessa Bennett of Maryville, Kelsey Kamperman, Sean Kamperman both of Summerville, S.C., Emily Brooks of Knoxville. The family will receive friends from 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville. Joseph Charles Holdway

Joseph Charles Holdway, 89, died on March 1, 2012, at Shannondale, where he had been a resident for seven years. A native of Hawkins County, he was the son of Hugh Harrison and Mayme Jones Holdway. An accounting graduate of the University of Tennessee, he was employed by BellSouth for 38 years, and at his retirement was manager of comptrollers for the state of Tennessee. Joe spent three years in the U.S. Army in World War II, serving in the European theater. He was a resident of Nashville for many years. He is survived by a sister, Juanita Holdway Evans of Maryville; nieces, Emily Evans Lenn of Knoxville and Elizabeth Evans Large of Maryville; great–niece, Meredith Lenn Quillen of Louisville, Kentucky and great-nephews Joseph Lenn, Nathan Large and Ethan Large of Maryville. D.L. Lovingood, Jr.

D.L. Lovingood, Jr., 81, of Alcoa, died May 24, 2012, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Born October 20, 1930, in Maryville, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married LaGretta Shields on December 1, 1956, in Chalmette, La., and was a graduate of Tri-State University in Angola, Ind. (1960). He worked for Central Illinois Public Service (CIPS) for 32 years in Mattoon and Effingham, Ill., was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) service organizations. He was very proud to have served as the post commander for the American Legion Post 120 in Effingham, Ill. While in Effingham, he was also active with the Boy Scouts, Rotary International, and Chamber of Commerce. Preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Evelyn Lovingood; sisters, Wilma Ray and Fran Carroll. Survived by his wife, LaGretta Lovingood; son, Mark Lovingood and wife Joli of Elkridge, Md; daughter, DeEtta Prose and husband Greg of Chesapeake, Va.; grandchildren, Alexa Prose and Madison Prose; brother, James Lovingood; sisters, Mary Ernestine Foster and Katherine Parker. In lieu of flowers, we want people to donate to Honor Flight Network or Wounded Warrior Project. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for a graveside service. Mary Elizabeth Robertson

Mary Elizabeth Robertson, age 86, of Maryville, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a longtime Sunday School teacher at Maryville Church of Christ and Eastside Church of Christ. Mary was a veteran of the Women's Air Corps., serving as a sergeant in World War II, where she received several medals. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary was a partner with her husband in business at several hardware stores in Maryville and Alcoa. Preceded in death by parents, Andrew and Laura Young; sisters, Bertha Heisey and Grace Krieder; brother, Andrew P. Young. Survivors include husband of 65 years, Ben Robertson; children and spouses, Philip and Peggy Robertson of Georgia, Nancy and Barry Weathers, Dr. James and Joyce Robertson, all of Maryville, and Thomas Trent Robertson of Alabama; grandchildren, Philip L. Robertson, Molly McCullers, Amy Weathers, Jason Weathers, Joshua Robertson, and Ashleigh Jervis; two great-grandchildren; sister, Christine Young. Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Eastside Church of Christ, with Minister Kevin Ruiz and Minister Dean Buchanan officiating. Interment icon will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 p.m., Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Eastside Church of Christ.
