Raymond Earl “Babe” Keny, age 86, of Maryville, passed away August 31, 2012, at Asbury Place Skilled Nursing Facility. Babe was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church. Retired from Martin Marietta and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Keny; parents, Paul and Effie Keny; brothers, P.K. Keny and J.L. Keny; sisters, Katherine Keny Mitchell and Dorothy Keny Long. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Tommy Swager, Terri and David Miller, Debbie and Marc Campbell. He was “Gaddy” to his seven grandchildren, Courtney, Bailey and Trey Swager, Lauren and Ssgt. Drew Miller, Hannah and Dylan Campbell. He was “Uncle Babe” to several nieces and nephews. Special friends Bo and Shirley Henry. He loved his parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, and was proud and devoted to his children and grandchildren. A true family man. The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Laura Rasor officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. The interment

Kenneth E. Dunlap, age 53, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012, at UT Hospital. Kenny was a member of Keebles Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and the owner of East Tennessee Propane. He was also an avid race fan. Preceded in death by his grandparents, J. Will and Gallie Dunlap and Huse and Blanche Whitehead. Survivors include his parents, Virgil and Selva Lou Dunlap; sister, Glenda Bryant; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Sylvia Dunlap and Mike and Yvonne Dunlap; nephews and nieces, Dustin Dunlap, April Bryant, Robbie and Heather Bryant, Janet and Jason Hutsell, Lindsey and Wesley Huskey; great-nephews and nieces, Hunner Bryant, Isabella and Kamden Hutsell, and Jackson Huskey; best friends, Don Wilburn and Gerald and Cathy Russell. Russ Young “Rusty” Brewer, age 56, of Alcoa, passed away Friday, August 24, 2012, at UT Hospital. Russ was a Lieutenant for the Maryville Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Russ and June Vandergriff Brewer. He is survived by his wife, Diana McCall Brewer; daughters, Beth Lamfers and husband Levi, Melissa Nichols and husband Rob; grandchildren, Abigail and Amelia Lamfers and Brady Nichols; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and David Ford, Bunnee and Mike Bogle, Sandy and Tommy Spears; sister-in-law, Shanon Braden and husband Keith; aunts, Eloise Vandergriff, Ruby Anderson, Lorene Brewer; uncle, Don Vandergriff and wife Francine; nieces, Brooke, Laurren, Lindsey, Olivia, Emery, Kaylee; nephews, Wesley and Justin; several great-nieces and nephews, and cousins; special niece, Janie Stokes, who he baptized on January 1, 2012. Special friends and fireman buddies that meant the world to him and Charlie Martinez, who donated a kidney to Russ in 2003. Billie Raye Williams Amburn, age 82, of Greenback, passed away Monday, August 20, 2012, at her residence. She was a lifetime member of Williamsburg Missionary Baptist Church, where she was clerk for the church for over 30 years. Preceded in death by her husband, John Albert Amburn; parents, Edd and Josie Everett Williams; son-in-law, Larry Davis; sisters, Lillian Self, Joyce (Bell) Cope; twin sister, Faye Miller; brother, J.B. Williams. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Margaret Davis, Mary Joyce and Rick Bivens; son and daughter-in-law, James (Jim) and Pat Amburn, all of Greenback; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; special friends, Robert and Lorena Crye; and several nieces and nephews. Billy Howard Lambert, age 79, of Friendsville, passed away August 18, 2012, at UT Hospital. He was retired from TN Farmers Coop Feed Mill in Rockford. Preceded in death by father, Howard Lambert, and mother, Blanche Walker Lambert; first wife, Imogene Harris Lambert; brothers, Kenneth and Johnny Lambert; sisters, Nancy Lambert Dotson and Geraldine Lambert Sands. He is survived by wife, Diane Stegall Lambert; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Imogene Lambert; son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Darlene Lambert; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Lambert Russell and Charles Russell; grandchildren, Chad Lambert, Traci Brackin and Charla Russell; great-grandchildren, Evan, Grayson and Liam Lambert; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Bruce and Eva Lee Brackin and Weldon and Frances Crawford. James Edward Bowman, Jr., age 45, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2012. He was a graduate of North Marion High School in Farmington, W.Va. and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a city of Alcoa Police Officer. He was a dedicated dad, brother, son and friend. Ed was preceded in death by his father, James E. Bowman, Sr.; mother, Vivian Bowman Ashcraft; sister, Officer Lehale Rice; grandmother, Rosemary Humphrey. Survivors include his daughter, Cheyenne Bowman; girlfriend, Sherry Casey; “bonus” children, Keenan Brackins and Sydney Millsaps; sisters, Anita Harler and Jamie Daugherty; many nieces and nephews; and mother of his child, Alondra Bowman. The family would like to express a special thank you to the city of Alcoa Police Department, city of Maryville Police Department, Blount County Sheriff’s Office and Rural Metro personnel for their support of the family. Rodger Craig Thompson, born
to Paul and Ruth Thompson in McKeesport, Pa., passed away on August 14, 2012. He lived a whole, happy and quiet life in his home near Maryville. Rodger was a life-long Steeler fan, loved being outdoors, enjoyed the beach and tending to his yard. He received his Associate of Applied Science in computer electronics technology and made many career accomplishments in the media field. He retired to his home in the mountains, where he enjoyed relaxing, watching his corn grow, and raising his goats, Niles and Jimmy. Rodger's wife, Rebecca, and daughter, Sarah, will miss his love, support, sense of humor, and devotion to his family. He is also survived by his sister, Luann. Ruth Josephine Lawrence Glascock
Ruth Josephine Lawrence Glascock, 92, of Maryville, and formerly of Pittsburgh, Pa., Sun City, Ariz., and Canton, N.Y., died Monday, August 13, 2012, at Shannondale Healthcare Center in Maryville. Born April 6, 1920, in Canton, N.Y., she was the daughter of Russell B. “Biscuit” and Hazel (Gilmour) Lawrence Allen. She was a 1938 graduate of Canton High School, where she was a cheerleader, and in 1940 she earned her associates degree from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. On December 27, 1941, she married James C. Glascock at the Grace Episcopal Church in Canton. Jim died July 19, 2003. Ruth was employed as a Realtor for Century 21 in Pittsburgh, Pa., from 1960-1970. She enjoyed golf and playing bridge. Ruth also enjoyed fishing, swimming, boating and summering at their camp on the St. Lawrence River since 1932. She enjoyed spending time with all of her family and her laughing was contagious to everyone that heard it. Surviving are her two sons and a daughter-in-law, William and Ellen Glascock of Mooresville, N.C., and Benjamin Glascock of Maryville; her grandchildren, Jeff and Laurie and Dave and Paige Glascock, all of Mooresville, N.C., Jason and Beki Glascock of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Nina Glascock of Statesville, N.C.; six great-grandchildren, as well as two nieces and two nephews; two great-nieces; and two great-nephews. In addition to her husband Jim, Ruth was predeceased by two brothers, Russell B. “Buster” Lawrence, II in 2003, and Vernon Lawrence in 1935. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 17, 2012, at Islandview Funeral Home, Morristown, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 21 Park Street, Canton. A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 1 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, Canton with Mother Evette Austin as celebrant. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Canton, N.Y. It is suggested that memorial contributions be sent to charity of one’s choice.
