Ron Ropkin, 77, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was a retired employee of Patterson Brothers Service Station, a member of First United Pentecostal Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Margaret E. Horner, 83, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at Wesley Care Center in Dyersburg. She was a retired nurse from Parkview Hospital and Dyersburg Manor, a member of Bryant's Chapel United Methodist Church and a member of the Eastern Star.

Harold Lawson Tillman Jr., 54, of Halls, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Ripley. He was a carpenter and attended Enon Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Halls Funeral Home. Burial will be in Enon cemetery near Halls.

Bessie Lee Hill, 89, of Tiptonville, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. She was a domestic worker. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Solomon Chapel Church in Wynnburg with the Rev. James Barlow officiating. Burial will be in Citizen cemetery in Tiptonville. H.H. Hudson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Margrette Powers Colvett, 85, of Newbern, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. She was a retired nurse's aide from Covington Manor. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Dewayne Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens.

Wilma Thurmon Whybrew, 87, of Wichita, Kan., formerly of Dyersburg, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003 in Wichita. She was a retired saleswoman and a member of Central Church of Christ. Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Dyersburg Funeral Home with Roy Thurmon and Parks Thurmon officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

Joe Wallace, 71, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003 at his residence. He was retired as a highway-maintenance supervisor of the Tennessee Department of Transportation, a member of the National Knife Collectors Association, served on the board of directors of the Dyersburg Moose Lodge, was a member of Ducks Unlimited and a Methodist.

Natalie Taylor Simmons, infant daughter of Felicia Dawn Crenshaw of Newbern and David Lee Simmons of Kenton, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be today at 2 p.m. in Fairview cemetery in Dyersburg. Johnson Funeral Home of Newbern is in charge of arrangements.

She was a retired employee of Wytheville Hospital of Wytheville, Va., a member of Wytheville Seventh-Day Adventist Church and Grand Rapids Central Seventh-Day Adventist Church, active in the ladies club at the church, and active with the fund-raising programs for Echo Valley School.

Jewell Greene Cooper, 78, of Newbern, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. She was a retired cosmetologist. Services were at 10 a.m. today in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. George Butler officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena Ark.

Samuel C. Baker, 81, of Smithville, formerly of Memphis, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003 at his daughter's residence in Smithville. He was a retired plant manager with Choctaw Inc., a U.S. Navy veteran during World War II, and a member of Georgian Hills United Methodist Church in Memphis where he served as past church lay leader, past chairman of the board and past trustee.

Bobby Lee McDaniel, 67, of Friendship, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003 at his residence. He was a self-employed farmer, cattleman, landowner and owner of American Quarter Horses, Crockett County Commission in District 1 for 25 years, a member of Elizabeth United Methodist Church, where he served as song leader and was on numerous committees.

George D. Finch, of 83, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. He was a retired assistant postmaster and employee of Dyersburg Funeral Home, a member of First Christian Church and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

She was a retired salesperson of Graber's and Dyersburg Cotton Products, a member of First Assembly of God, where she was a former choir member, Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent, a 1941 graduate of Dyersburg High School, past president of Jennie Bell PTA and president of Dyer County Council of PTA.

He was a former employee of Dyersburg Fabrics Inc., raised Quarter Horses and was a member of American Quarter Horse Association. Services were at 11 a.m. today in Rehoboth cemetery with the Rev. Carmen Dennison officiating. Curry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
