Ralph Buckner Funeral Home of Etowah announces the death and funeral services for Mrs. Mildred C. Wood, age 87, of Niota who died Thursday July 9, 2009 at a local hospital. She was born February 12, 1922 in Rockwood, TN the daughter of the late Luther and Luara Clark. She was a member of the East Athens Baptist Church she loved her Sunday school class, her friends and bingo. She was preceded in death by her husband Johnny James Thomas Wood, a brother Luther Clark, Jr. and a sister Rosa Lee Clark.
Survivors include two daughters and spouses Barbara and Bruce Monroe of Niota and Jean and john Munson of Crossville; grandchildren and spouses Jeff and Charlotte Hyde, Steve and Stacie Hyde, Freddy and Patricia Hyde; Scott and Kimi Guffey and Mischelle and Glenn Schott; thirteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Graveside services will Sunday July 12 at 1:00 pm from the Clearwater Baptist Church cemetery with Rev Pete Mullins officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Saturday for 6 until 8.

Gregory Darrill Shell

Place of Death: Etowah
Ralph Buckner Funeral Home of Etowah announces the death of Gregory Darrill “Greg” Shell, age 56 of Etowah who died Wednesday morning in Etowah. Known as Mr Fix it to many people in the area, he was a member of the American Legion, and the VFW and a Army veteran. He was born January 3, 1953 in McMinn co., TN the son of the late Homer Leroy and Wanda Faye Shell.
Survivors include his former wife Rosa shell of Etowah; daughter Heather Shell of Etowah; grandson Zach Stephensky; brothers and sisters Teresa and Bill Brakefield of London, KY, Steve and Diana Shell of Alexandria, KY, Larry Shell of Tennessee, and Tina Shell of Etowah and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday evening June 19, 2009 at 8:00 pm from the Chapel of the Ralph Buckner Funeral Home of Etowah with Chaplain Greg Harper officiating. Interment icon will follow Saturday moring at 10:00 am in the Conasauga cemetery with military honors and a white dove release ceremony.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 till 8 Friday evening.

Cecil Wade Wilcox
July 28, 1947 - November 30, 2009
Cecil Wade Wilcox, 62, a resident of Delano, passed away Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, in a local hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elzie James Wilcox and Velmer Ruth Headen Wilcox; brother, Jearld Leon Wilcox; and two infant sisters.
Survivors include his loving wife of six years and companion of thirty years, Susie Jones Wilcox; son, Doug Wilcox; daughter, Nikki Wilcox Coleman; stepsons: Leon Banks and wife, Robin, and Brian Banks; grandchildren: Danielle Wilcox, Buck Wilcox, Cody Banks and Shawn Kerr; sister, Ann Lou Wilcox Rymer and husband, Odean; and brothers: Harold Wilcox and wife, Elaine, Dan Wilcox and wife, Bonnie, Bruce Wilcox, Darrius Wilcox and wife, Sue, Vic Wilcox and wife, Sandy and Hubert Wilcox and wife, Lidia.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home of Etowah with the Rev. Wilford Wright and the Rev. Charles Moore officiating.
Interment will follow in Towee Falls cemetery with Eric Jones, Jeff Wilcox, Chris Rymer, Buck Wilcox, Drew Rymer, Wayne Jones, Timmy Wilcox and Rodney Wilcox serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be James Gibbs, Darrell Gibbs, John Ellis and Berry Jones.
A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mary Ruth Burrell
Mary Ruth Burrell, 72, of Athens, and formerly of Cleveland, a loving mother, grandmother, and a friend of many, died Friday, April 14, 2006, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.
A native of Bradley County, and a resident of Athens for most of her life, she was a daughter of the late John and Louise Moore Hutton, and was preceded in death by one brother, the Rev. Jim Hutton. A very active member of First Baptist Church of Athens and a former volunteer for Hospice, she was a former dental assistant for Dr. J.J. Nankivell.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Coil Burrell of Athens; one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Doug Lunsford of Kernersville, N.C.; one son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Karen Burrell of Athens; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Joe and Susie Hutton of Athens, and Judy Hutton of Cleveland; six grandchildren, Allison Lunsford, Erin Lunsford, Brian Lunsford, Jon Burrell, Sally Burrell and Will Burrell; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Dr. Carlos Peterson and the Rev. Clyde Cook Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Hutton, Derrick Burrell, Eddie Coffey, Carey Hicks, Alfred Hacker and Jim Harrison.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Joe Avery Johnson
Joe Avery Johnson, 46, formerly of Athens, died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at a Rhode Island hospital.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home of Athens.

Kelvin Kent Millsaps
Kelvin Kent Millsaps, 25, of Englewood, died Friday evening, April 14, 2006, the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
A native and resident of McMinn County for most of his life, he was a member of Macedonia Church of Christ and was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ida Lou and Giles Buchanan; and his paternal grandparents, Skiver and Hollis Millsaps.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Millsaps of Englewood; his father, Joe Millsaps of Etowah; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and April Millsaps, Scott and Wendy Millsaps and Keith and Lynette Millsaps, all of Tellico Plains; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday at Macedonia Church of Christ with Minister Pat Wilson and the Rev. B.J. Wall officiating. Burial followed in the Macedonia Church of Christ cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bordwine Funeral Home.

Everette B. “E.B.” “Bink” Parks
Everette B. “E.B.” “Bink” Parks, 88, of Athens, died Friday, April 14, 2006, at Etowah Health Care Center.
A native of Anderson County, and a resident of Athens for the past 49 years, he was a son of the late Floyd Issiah and Mollie Davis Parks, and was married to the late Beulah “Boots” Parks. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy Meagher; and three sisters, Edna Miller, Verla May Parks and Pauline Morris. He was the former owner and operator of the Athens Electric & Plumbing Company, was a former employee of Rice Electric Company and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of Meridian Sun Lodge No. 50 F&AM, Scottish Rite, Alhambra Shrine, a former member of the Alhambra Motor Patrol and the Jesters. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army as a first sergeant, and was a member of the VFW Post No. 5146.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherrie Parks and Larry Jenkins of Athens, and Linda Lou and William C. Garner of Cleveland; one sister, Thelma Sharpe of Lake City; six grandchildren and spouses, Lisa Jenkins and Chris Cochran, Kevin Grant and Kim Jenkins, Pamela Ingram, William H. Garner, Deborah Hicks, William Garner and Vicki and Doug Rayfield; eight great-grandchildren, Dylan, Kaleb, Breyanna, Heather, Jeremy, Aaron, Amanda and Andrew; four great-great-grandchildren; a special friend, Georgeanna Kelsey; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Creasman officiating. A Masonic service by Meridian Sun Lodge No. 50 F&AM will follow the service. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at McMinn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Jenkins, Chris Cochran, Jimmy Miller, Michael Sharpe, Terry Sharpe, Bobby Morris, Dylan Cochran and Kaleb Jenkins.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Juan Javier Fernandez
Juan Javier Fernandez, 32, of Athens, died Saturday, April 15, 2006.
A native of Corpus Cristi, Texas, and a former resident of Pasedena, Texas, he was a resident of McMinn County since 1989. He attended McMinn County High School Class of 1991 and was a member of Christ Community Church in Athens. He was preceded in death by his father, Juan Fernandez.
Survivors include his mother, Ema Rodriguez Nisbett of Athens; his fiancŽe, Shannon Stockton of Athens; one son, Jonathan Colt Fernandez of Etowah; two daughters, Jordan Faith Fernandez and Harley Cheyenne Fernandez, both of Etowah; one brother, David Fernandez of Athens; two sisters, Angelique Nisbett White and Jamie Ann Marie Morgan, both of Athens; one niece, Jacqueline Lee White; and five nephews, Logan Fowler, James Paul White II, Brian Taylor Morgan, John Riley Morgan II and Christian Morgan.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Dr. Carlos Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens with friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ruby Belk Bryan
Ruby Belk Bryan, 83, of Athens, and formerly of Charleston, died Saturday, April 15, 2006, at NHC Health Care of Athens.
A native of McMinn County, and a resident of Charleston for most of her life, she was a daughter of the late Grover and Myrtle Sherlin Belk. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, L.C. Bryan, on Feb. 5, 2005; two sisters, Elizabeth Wade and Vesta Burke-Oesterreich; and two brothers, Grover C. Belk Jr. and Wrondel R. “Runt” Belk. She was of the Protestant faith, and was a former employee of IGA Grocery Store in Charleston, the Bowater Paper Company cafeteria and Guffey´s Market in Athens. She taught school at Rocky Mount School and Mouse Creek Elementary School.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Bryan of Riceville; one sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Charlie Wilson of Athens; three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law, Imogene Belk of Athens, Willis and Evelyn Bryan and Hugh and Ruth Bryan, all of Calhoun, and James “Jimmy” and Elizabeth Bryan of Charleston; special nephew, Robert “Bob: Wilson; special niece, Dorothy Cowart; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Oran Creasman officiating. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Calhoun cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Nick Wade, Ricky Belk, Steve Belk, Don Cowart, Gene Belk and Don Burke.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Joan Marie Hunt Richardson'
Joan Marie Hunt Richardson, 63, of Decatur, and formerly of Chicago, Ill., died Monday, April 17, 2006, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A native of Chicago, Ill., and a resident of Decatur for the past seven years, she was a member of Concord United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Jan.
Survivors include her husband of 24 years, Gene Richardson of Decatur; two daughters, Misty Lynn Duna and Samantha Taylor Garcia, both of Decatur; one granddaughter, Katlyn Duna; five sisters, Cheryl West, Rose Collins, Roberta Hunt, Barbara Milbratz and Linda Largent; and one brother, William Hunt.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Concord United Methodist Church with the Rev. Archer Coppedge officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Concord United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1255, Decatur, TN 37322.

Ida Pearl Gillion Boudion
Ida Pearl Gillion Boudion, 66, of Athens, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at her residence.
A native of Sterling, Texas, and a resident of Athens for three years, she was a former resident of the Tidewater area of Virginia and a resident of the Outer Banks of North Carolina for 25 years. She was a daughter of the late Luther Fayette and Lillie Mae Lewis Gillion, and was a member of Poplar Branch Baptist Church in Grandy, N.C. She was secretary to the district manager of Prudential Insurance Company for 12 years and was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Boudion; and one sister, Barbara Jean Gillion.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Susan Patterson-Midgett and Michael Midgett of Niota; one sister, Betty Altman of Norfolk, Va.; and one brother, B.L. Gillion of Norfolk, Va.
There will be no formal visitation or services.
Family and friends may visit 1540 Burnsbrooke Lane in Athens to pay their condolences from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
