Mick leaves his mother, Kristina Bandy; sister, Mary Katherine "Marryssa" Bandy; grandparents, Jon and Polly Bandy, and "Ninnie" Betty Chittum; great-grandmother, Doris Norris; aunt and uncle, Roger and Caren Goode. A special appreciation for the love of Nell Beason and "all her mothers and children." A special thank you to Nova Information Systems, the employees of Knox County E-911, and Tennessee School of Beauty Faculty and Students. Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Seymour, Father O'Connell officiating. BRIGHT, HARRY ROBERTS - age 81, of Athens, passed away Tuesday night, May 1, 2001, at Athens Regional Medical Center. A native of Riceville, he was the son of the late Dailey and Bessie Roberts Bright. He was a member of Spring Creek Church of Christ, and was a well known livestock dealer in McMinn and surrounding counties. He served in the U. S. Army, during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Helen Miller Bright of Athens; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Diane Bright of Cleveland, Bonnie and Roger Bates of Knoxville, and Elaine and Randall Smith of Englewood; one granddaughter, Cassie Bates; one grandson, Tyler Bates; one sister, Helen Bright Knox of Riceville. Funeral service will be conducted 8 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Jerry Smith Funeral Home with Minister Larry Jelly officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at Cedar Grove cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Thursday, where the family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The family suggests, memorials be made to the Spring Creek Church of Christ, Riceville TN 37370. Jerry Smith Funeral Home, of Athens, is serving the family of Harry Roberts Bright.

BISHOP, THOMAS EARL, SR. - age 53, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2001, at NHC Fort Sanders. Born June 2, 1947, to the late Mozella Bishop and John Henry Jacobs. Graduated from West High School in Denmark, Tenn., a Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he received a Purple Heart. Preceded in death by brothers, Willie T. Bond, John L. Brown, Sr., and Samuel Bishop; sister, Vera Rivers. He leaves to cherish his memories: daughters, Loretta Mitchell, LaTonya Porter, and TaQuasha Styles (Tommy), all of Knoxville; son, Thomas Earl Bishop, Jr. (TJ) of Knoxville; eight grandchildren; devoted aunt and God Mother, Abbey Springfield; loving sister and brother-in-law, Stella and John; devoted brother and sister-in-law, Henry Leroy and Betty Bishop of Knoxville; sisters-in-law, Katie Bond of Brownsville, Tenn., and Darlene Moulden of Knoxville; devoted uncle and aunt, Sam and Pauline Coach; loving nephews, Elliott Bishop and John Brown, Jr.; God brothers and sisters, Linda and Fred Short of Jackson, Tenn., Saundra and John Yarbrough of Denmark, Tenn.; God brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee and Mattie Springfield of Detroit, Mich., Odell and Minnie Springfield of Jackson, Tenn., and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends. The family will receive friends 3:30-4 p.m. Saturday at Jarnigan's Chapel, with funeral service to follow at 4 p.m., Rev. James Davis officiating, assisted by Rev. Joe Smith. Interment icon 10 a.m. Monday, Tennessee State Veteran's cemetery. A very special thank you to the wonderful staff on the 8th floor at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, and the 3rd floor staff at the NHC facility. The family will be at the home of Stella Bishop, 520 Prestwick Ridge Way, Knoxville, TN 37919, Apt. #60, and the home of Henry Leroy Bishop, 3855 Speedway Circle. Arrangements by Jarnigan & Son Mortuary.

BRUHIN ALLIE BELL AULTOM - age 93, of Norwood, died Monday, April 30, 2001. She was a member of Bookwalter United Methodist Church, and had attended Norwood United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bruhin was the widow of C. A. Bruhin. She had retired after more than forty years as bookkeeper for Kay's Ice Cream Co. Her survivors include her daughter, Alliene Lay of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Don and Doris Bell of Plantation, Fla.; grandchildren, Bob Lay, Cindy Lay, and Nancy Bell; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and John Hayes of Knoxville. Funeral service 10 a.m. Thursday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Rev. Stephen Doyal officiating. Interment icon will follow at Highland-Holly Hills, South cemetery. Pallbearers: Steve Singleton, James Baldwin, Harry Bayless, Charles Burkhart, Bob Lay and Mike Parrott. Arrangements by Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.

BUNCH, PAUL H., SR. - age 78, of Powell, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital. Member of Powell United Methodist Church, and Fidilis Sunday School Class. Retired from Post & Company after 43 years service. Preceded in death by parents, Andrew and Maggie Bunch; sons, Wallace and Frank; brothers, Otha, Clifford and Velman Bunch. Survivors: wife of 54 years, Mildred Bunch; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul H., Jr. and Betty Gwyn Bunch of Forest Park, Ga., and Harold David and Deborha Bunch of Powell; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; brother, Harrison Bunch; sisters, Juanita Hickman, Iva Breeden, and Geneva Seibers; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. CARPENTER, W. HOWARD - age 79, of Louisville, passed away at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was a Deacon of Broadway Baptist Church, Maryville, and a Sunday School Teacher of the Victory Class. He was a lifetime Sunday School teacher , most recently of the Victory Class, a graduate of Old Knoxville High School Class of 1939, a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Business Administration Class of 1955, a Doctorate of Jurisprudence of the University of Tennessee Law School Class of 1957. He served during World War II, in the Mediterranean Theater. He retired from Olin Corporation Labor Relations, was a 32 degree Mason, and also a Scottish Rite Shriner. Preceded in death by parents, William and Jessie Carpenter; grandson, Michael Patrick Carpenter, and sister, Dorothy Raymond. Survivors include wife, Mabel Carpenter; sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Barbara Carpenter of Thompson, Ohio, Randall and Cathy Carpenter of Knoxville, and Richard and Patty Carpenter of Charlotte, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Constance and Raymond Dawson of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Stephen Aleesha, Whitney, Ryan, Cathryn, and Alexander; great-grandchildren, Connor and Katie. Special thanks to many devoted friends. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2001, in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Dr. Robert Brown officiating. CLEMONS, ARRETTA MAE - age 91, of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at Sevier County Healthcare Center. A member of Gallaher View Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, Carl Clemons; son, Herbert Carl Clemons, and grandson, Josh Towe. Survivors: daughter, Anita Towe; granddaughter, Heather Towe; sisters, Barbara Penticoff and Bessie McDaniel. Funeral service 1 p.m. Friday, Berry Chapel. COWARD, M. RUTH - age 70, of Powell, passed away Tuesday morning, May 1, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Member of Brushy Valley Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Minnie Campbell; sisters, Lucille Anderson and Jewell Campbell; brothers, Carl and David Campbell, and son, Michael Lee Coward. Survived by husband of 49 years, Everett Coward of Powell; daughter, Sharon Coward of Powell; sons, Daniel Coward of Halls, Teddy Coward of Clinton; grandchildren, Jennifer Michele and Joey Coward; one great-grandchild; sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel Jones of Knoxville, Marcella and Bud Massingill of Powell, Charlotte Pickle of Nashville, and Cecil Worley of Powell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harvey and Marie Campbell, Roy and Kathy Campbell, all of Powell; several nieces and nephews, and many close friends. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Friday at Bells Campground cemetery for an 11 a.m. graveside service, Rev. Clarence Bull officiating. Pallbearers will be nephews and friends. GRUBB, LENNIS H. "GRUBBY" - age 72, of South Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at his residence. He was a retired electrician and member of IBEW Local 760. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in the Philippines and Japan. An avid fisherman and gardener. He was preceded in death by parents, Earl and Ann Grubb, and brother, Raymond Grubb. Survivors: loving and devoted wife, Ruby Grubb; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Patti Grubb; grandsons, Kevin and Nick; brother, Ross Grubb; sisters, Audrey Burnette and Doris King; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Graveside service Friday 11 a.m., Woodlawn cemetery, Rev. Corey Golden officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Hwy.

HUGHETT, ERNIE - age 89, of Powell, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at her home. She was a member of Solway Baptist Church. She owned and operated Ernie's Beauty Salon in Powell for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, the Rev. Sherman Hughett; parents, Soloman and Mary Asher Robbins; brothers, Leabert Robbins, Arthur Robbins, and Jasper Robbins; sisters, Cassie Ross, Lyda Jeffers, and Nora Stanley. Survivors include sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Harold Walker; sister, Ella Burress; sister-in-law, Dorothy Gaw; very special friend and care-giver, Vivian Walker; loving niece, Mary Ross, and several very much loved nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Woodhaven Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Buchanan officiating. Family and friends will assemble 11 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2001, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens for the interment icon service. IVEY, VIVIAN ILENE - age 78, of Corryton, passed away at 1:33 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2001. She is of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by parents, Gene and Lillie Cassidy; brother, Ed Cassidy; husband, Edward (Dunk) Ivey; sons, Charles Lynn, Darrell Wayne, and Douglas Earl Ivey. Survivors include sons, Marshall and Dennis Ivey of Corryton; daughters, Bernice Miller and Jewell Johnson of Corryton, and Sharon Hatcher of Seymour; daughter-in-law, Clara Houck-Ivey; son-in-law, Phillip Hatcher; grandchildren, Debbie Speeks, DeWayne Reece, Marsha Wyrick, Lynn Ivey, Penny Massengill, Greg, Melissa and Amanda Ivey, Michelle White, Lorissa and Chad Hatcher, James, Annette, Sherman and Randy Cassidy; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Corey, and Chad Helton, Dylan and Cassidy Speeks, Stephanie and Ashley Massengill. Serving as pallbearers will be Clint Wyrick, Michael Ivey, Ronnie McGaha, Paul Hicks, Caleb Helton, Kaleb Rose, Greg Ivey, and Christopher Ivey. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Will McGaha, DeWayne Reece, David Ivey, Floyd Cassidy and Brandon White. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 3, 2001, at 8 p.m. in the Chapel of McCarty Mortuary with Rev. John Lawson officiating. Family and friends will meet at McCarty Mortuary Friday at 10 a.m. to proceed to Roseberry cemetery for an 11 a.m. interment. JOHNSON, BERT THOMAS - age 77, of Garden Prairie, Ill., formerly of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford, Ill. Preceded in death by wife, Stella "Sally" Johnson; two infant daughters, and several brothers and sisters. Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Rena and Bill O'Howell, Jean and Jess Salazar, all of Garden Prairie, Ill., Jane and Bob Ballok of Belvidere, Ill.; sons and daughters-in-law, Albert and Virginia Hill of Maryville, Richard and Iona Hill of Belvidere, Ill., Lester H. and Carol Hill, Thomas J. and Connie Johnson, all of Garden Prairie, Ill., Donald R. and Evelyn Johnson of Maryville; 17 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, J. Retired from ALCOA and a member of the 25 Year Club. A Veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served during World War II. MINCEY, CHARLES LEE, JR. - passed away from this life on Monday, April 30, 2001, at the age of 48. Charles honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps, during the Vietnam Era. He is preceded in death by father, Charles Lee Mincey, Sr. and mother, Alice Graham Mincey. Survivors are son, Daniel Lee Mincey of Clinton; daughters, Debra Wilson of Clinton, Elizabeth Ramsey of Knoxville; brothers, Larry Mincey of Clinton, Robert Mincey of Knoxville, Roger Mincey of Cleveland, Tenn., and Mark Mincey of Knoxville; sister, Loretta Mincey of Knoxville; grandchildren, Lanita Wilson and Celeste Mincey. The family will receive friends in the chapel on Thursday, May 3, 2001, from 6-8 p.m. with the funeral services immediately following with the Rev. Tom Byrge officiating. Final Disposition will be Friday, May 4, 2001, 11 a.m., at Sunset cemetery with full military honors. Anderson County Funeral Home, Clinton, in charge.
