SCHAUER, DR. HEINRICH M. - age 85, passed away Monday, July 9, 2001, at his home in Maryville, Tenn. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Liselotte Schauer and mother, Luise Schauer. Survivors include: sons, Henry and wife, Eve of Ft. Collins, Colo., Martin and wife, Susan of Los Alamos, NM; daughters, Luise and husband, Bill Couchman of Fairfax Station, Va., Irene and husband, Jonas Pologe of Boulder, Colo.; grandchildren, Christopher Schuetz and wife, Christine, Jennifer and husband, Victor Gehman, Michael and Kevin Schauer, Matthew and Benjamin Schauer; great granddaughter, Katherine Schuetz. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Crosswell Hughes officiating. SISSON, DOROTHY ELLA - proudly known as "Baby Daughter", age 72 of Knoxville, passed away Sunday July 8, 2001 at her residence. She was a member of Christian Fellowship Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Thomas Benton Sisson and Minnie Ella Roberts Sisson; 4 siblings that passed away as small children; brothers, Thomas Glen Sisson and Cecil Sisson; and sister, Leona Boyles. Survivors include sister, Ada Cross; another sister and lifelong companion, Lucille Sisson , and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 11, 2001 at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Lee Lawson officiating. Interment icon will follow at Woodlawn cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday July 10 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to give special thanks to Baptist Hospital Hospice. SWENSON, WILLIAM H. - age 75, of Maryville, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Maryville First United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir, was a veteran of World War II having served with the US Army in Italy. He holds a Bachelors Degree from Maryville College and a Master Degree from the Art Institute of Chicago. Mr. Swenson taught Art at Maryville College and Ashland College in Ashland, Ind. and was Docent at Knoxville Museum of Art. He was a voting machine technician for the Blount County Election Commission. Survivors include: wife, Peggy T. Swenson; daughter and son in law, Esther and David Iles of Langley, Wash. son and daughter in law, William H. and Linda Swenson of Binghamton, NY; step daughters, Jennifer Murphy and Julia Lawson both of Maryville; grandson, Elijah Iles and Ian Murphy; sister, Janet White of Shippensburg, Pa.; brothers, Fred Swenson of Fairfax, Calif. and Jack Swenson of Boise, Idaho; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Maryville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Darris Doyal and Rev. Richard Richter officiating. The interment icon will follow in Grandview cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church. TRENT, JAMES THEODORE - age 91, of Morristown, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2001, at his residence. Mr. Trent was a native of Hancock County. He professed faith at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church at an early age and was a member of North Side Baptist Church, Morristown. Preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Nancy Jane Neeley Trent; brother, John H. Trent; sister, Gertha Johnson, and son in law, Clyde Hartley. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Carrie Mabe Trent; daughters and sons in law, Dorothy Hartley of Jefferson City, Barbara Trent Balent and John Balent, of Mt. Plymouth, Fla. and Linda and Jerry W. Burke of Morristown; 9 grandchildren, Joe Hartley, Tracy Hamrac, Kathryn Rohe, Carrie Balent, Elizabeth Vogel, Trent Balent, Marvin Burke, Timothy Burke and Anthony Burke; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter and 1 great-great-great granddaughter; 3 sisters, Gladys Leshure of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Irene LaForce and Kathleen Riley of Sneedville; brother, Milum Trent of Great Falls, SC; very special friend, Wright Greene of Morristown; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday 2 p.m. July 11, 2001 at North Side Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Crider and Rev. Barry Warren officiating. Mr. Trent will lie in state 30 minutes before services. TYREE, WALTER, JR. - age 73, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2001 at Baptist Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dovie Tyree; four brothers; and one sister. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 11, 2001 at 10 a.m. at McCarty Mortuary, with interment icon following at Block Springs cemetery. WASHINGTON, BEATRICE TURMAN - of Knoxville, formerly of Ashland Ave. of Wilson Rd. entered into eternal rest, July 7, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital. Member of College Hills Seventh Day Adventist Church and a former member of Payne Ave. Baptist Church. Employed by UT Bettell and worked part time for Dr. Bizers Vision World (Knoxville Center) and was retired from TVA. Survivors, children, Angelia and Randall Turman; one half brother, several aunts and uncles; many devoted cousins and many friends to include devoted friends, former husbands, Harvey Turman and Larry Jones, Connie Powell, Warren Sims and the College Hills Seventh Day Adventist Church family. Family will receive friends 1:30-2 p.m. Saturday at College Hills Seventh Day Adventist Church, funeral service, 2 p.m. Pastor Vincent White, officiating. WHITE, LOTTIE C. - age 92, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2001. Member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, Otis M. White. Survivors: children, Betty Collins and husband, Mike, David White and wife, Margaret; grandchildren, Kimberly Haynes, D. Shannon White, Kevin D. Collins, Rev. Gary M. Collins, Brent Collins; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service Wednesday 2 p.m. at Valley Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Harry Mynatt and Dr. Bobby Tucker officiating. Interment icon Valley Grove cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Hwy.

YANDELL, WINIFRED SHAW - Happie Yandell, as she was known to all, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at Shannondale Health Care Center in Knoxville. Happie was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., on November 4, 1916, to Bertha Lee Barnes Shaw and George Gaunt Shaw. She graduated from Chattanooga High School in 1934, attended The University of Chattanooga in 1934-1935, and graduated in 1938 from Duke University in Durham, N.C., at the age of 21. At age 75, she completed the four-year Education for Ministry (E.F.M.) Program of Theological Education as provided and administered by The Episcopal School of Theology, The University of the South at Sewanee, Tenn. married at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, in Chattanooga, to William F. Yandell on Christmas Day 1938, Happie and Bill flew to Miami to honeymoon and make their first home there. On January 2, 1939, they cheered The University of Tennessee to victory over Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl. Bill's work led them to reside in Miami, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Mobile, (where their two sons were born, the first on Mardi Gras Day), Hanover, N.H., Atlanta again, and Knoxville. In 1978, Bill's work in telecommunication took them to the Emirate of Bahrain in the Persian Gulf for several years. They returned to Knoxville in 1981. In Knoxville, Happie served the Knoxville City School System as a volunteer librarian at inner city schools. She served in various civic organizations including the Dulin Art Gallery and the Knoxville Symphony Society among others. She was an active Pi Beta Phi alumna and a member of P.E.O. sisterhood. Through her faith and dedication to the Church Happie was elected to the vestry and as a Delegate to Convention by the Episcopal Church of the Ascension. She served as the first Director of Christian Education and mentored others in the process. She established a still ongoing fellowship group at St. Christopher's Church in Manama, Bahrain in service to The Anglican Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf. In addition to her parents, Happie was preceded in death by her sister, Vivian Shaw Thompson and her niece and God-daughter, Nancy Thompson Womack. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bill Yandell; sons and daughter-in-law, George and Susan Yandell of Memphis and Gordon Yandell of Knoxville; granddaughters, Abigail and Corinne Yandell of Memphis; in laws, Lawrence Thompson of Signal Mountain, Tenn., Dorothy Callis of Orangeburg, S.C., Rachel Yandell of Richburg, S.C., Hans Christensen of Charlotte, N.C., and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and God-children. Happie's family expresses their heartfelt thanks to the staff on the third floor at Shannondale Health Care Center. Interment icon will be at St. John's Memorial Garden, in the courtyard at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, 413 West Cumberland Ave., at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2001. Services will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 800 Northshore Dr. in Knoxville on Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at 2 p.m., with a reception in the Parish Hall immediate following the service, The Rev. Ladson F. Mills III, The Rev. C. Alex Barron, The Very Rev. John C. Ross, and The Right Rev. William E. Sanders will participate. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Department of Christian Education, Church of the Ascension, 800 Northshore Drive, Knoxville, TN 37919. Arrangements by East Tennessee Mortuary Service.

BISHOP, MAXINE (ELDRIDGE) - age 81, of North Knoxville, passed away 12:57 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was the daughter of William Simeon "Doc" and Nellie Atkins Eldridge. Graduate of Knoxville High School Class of 1939-B. Maxine was a community volunteer and served as a volunteer "Pink Lady" at St. Mary's Medical Center for 31 years and was coordinator of the Candy Striper volunteer program for 3 years. She was also a member of the St. Mary's Volunteer "I can't believe it's a Band-Band." Maxine was named a "Point of Light" for volunteerism by President George P. Bush in 1991, during the City of Knoxville Bicentennial Celebration. She was a longtime member of Magnolia Ave. United Methodist Church and presently a member of First United Methodist Church. She was active in the United Methodist Women, longtime member of the Pollyanna Sunday School class and presently a member of the Fellowship Class. Maxine was preceded in death by loving husband, Ernest Clark Bishop; parents, Will & Nell Eldridge; sisters, Juanita Mankel & Patsy Rouser; brothers, Carson "Buck" Eldridge & Joe Eldridge; sisters in law, Dot King Eldridge & Dot Pack Eldridge; brothers in law, Frank Mankel, Dick Rouser & Kurt Peters. Survivors: daughter and son in law, Carol & Ray Clift, Knoxville; granddaughter and grandson in law, Suzanne & Dwight Dickey; great granddaughters, Leslie, Julie & Kellie Dickey, all of New Market, Tenn.; sister & brother in law, Nell & Sam Boehms of St. Louis, Mo.; sister, Katherine Peters of Maryville; brothers & sisters in law, Bob & Lorraine Eldridge of West Palm Beach, Fla., Gary & Peggy Eldridge of Knoxville; sisters in law, Ada Mae Faulkner of Wilmington, Del. and Edith Bishop of Knoxville, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; special friends, Christine Huguley & cousin in law, Jean Jones; special neighbors, Dot Elliott & Helen Lane. ARMES, MISS BILLIE D. - age 60, of Kingston, passed away Monday, July 9, 2001, in Roane Medical Center, Harriman. She was of the Baptist faith, and attended Oliver Springs High School. Preceded in death by parents, William Ramsey (Red) and Ruby Colston Armes. Survived by sister, Shelby Jean Armes Peavyhouse of Spring City; nieces, Myra K. Peavyhouse of Spring City, and Karen P. Lingar and husband Steve of Madison, Alabama; great niece, Lauren Miranda Lingar of Madison, Alabama; aunt and uncle, Evelyn and Carl Colston of Snellville, Georgia, and several cousins. Graveside services and interment icon will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Roane Memorial Gardens with Rev. Carl Armes officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12 Noon - 1:45 p.m. at Evans Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity. BUTLER, W.H. (BILL) - age 95, of Corryton, passed away Monday, July 9, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital. Member of Graveston Baptist Church and Gibbs Ruritan Club. Retired co-owner of Midway Grocery Store. Preceded in death by wife, Geneva Butler; parents, Samuel L. Butler and Anna Bell Carpenter Butler; sisters, Iva Brock, Hazel Jones Cates and Alta Stormer; brothers, Thurman, Herbert, Franklin, Charles, Bobby, Alton and Dewetta Butler. Survivors: son, Gary Butler, and son and daughter in law, Stanley and Shirley Butler; grandchildren, Niki Davis and husband, Vernon, Jordan and Ada Butler; sisters, Sammie Ann Hensley, Bessie Henderlight and Laurie Nicely; brother, L.B. CAUGHORN, CLAUDE EDWARD - age 51, of New Tazewell, was born October 21, 1949, passed away at his home Saturday, July 7, 2001. He was employed at Bushline Insurance for the past 18 years. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Danielle Caughorn; father, Earnest Vic Caughorn; mother, Vernie Whithead Caughorn. Survivors are sister, Pansy Caughorn Houston of New Tazewell; brothers, Leslie Caughorn of New Tazewell, and Charles Caughorn of Davao City, Phillipines; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Glenna Caughorn of Knoxville, and Windle and Ella Mae Whitehead of Knoxville, and several nieces and nephews. Special friends, Hershel Beeler, Robbie and Kate Suydam, Boone Bell and Tasha Bell of New Tazewell. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Coffey Funeral Home, Tazewell.
