Jessica Faith Paysinger, 13, of Oliver Springs, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville following an accident in Marlow.
Jessica was an eighth-grade student at Norwood Middle School in Oliver Springs. She was a member of the school's Lady Jaguars basketball team and a member of the track team.
Also a member of the Norwood Boys & Girls Club, she played softball for the club and was one of the club's cheerleaders.
Jessica was a fan of the Lady Vols at the University of Tennessee, her family said.
She was born in Oak Ridge on Aug. 3, 1984, and had lived all her life in Oliver Springs. She attended Union Valley Baptist Church.
She is survived by her mother, Lisa M. Paysinger; her grandmother Mary R. Bunch of Oliver Springs, known to Jessica as "Nanna;" an uncle, Charles S. Bunch Jr. of Nashville, whom she called "Uncle Chuckie;" and her great-grandparents, Geneva Patterson of Oliver Springs and the Rev. Hoye and Vera Bunch of Clinton.
Josh Stiltner and Lewanna, Bonnie and Cathy were considered special friends.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Benny Braden and Randy Wallace officiating.
Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 tonight, Oct. 30, at the funeral home.
Ross V. Ward
West Village Church member
Ross V. Ward, 65, of Petros, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1997, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Ward was a member of West Village Christian Church of Oak Ridge.
He had worked for Roane Electric and also as a self-employed truck driver.
He was born in Petros on May 17, 1932, the son of Ora Lou Adkisson and Henry Beecher Ward. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Ward was a member of Black Diamond Masonic Lodge No. 625, F&AM.
He is survived by two daughters, Rita Dishman of Wartburg and Rena Williams and her husband, Bernie, of Petros; a son, David Ward of Petros; four sisters, Inela Phillips of Oliver Springs, Deloris Redmon of Wartburg, and Lula Seiber and Shelby Trail, both of Petros; a brother, Basil Ward of Petros; and a nephew, Darryl Ward of Petros.
Mr. Ward is also survived by 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Toy Patterson, June Dotson, Alisa Yates and Denny Dotson were considered special friends.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Stewart Sloan officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Petros cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Herman F. Wyrick
Retired Y-12 Plant employee
Herman F. Wyrick of Oak Ridge died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1997, at his home.
Mr. Wyrick was retired from the Training and Technology School at the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant, an assignment that his family said he particularly enjoyed because it allowed him to teach welding skills to young people. He began his employment with Union Carbide Nuclear Division in 1952 and retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems in 1992. He was an active member of Union Local No. 718.
He was born in Strawberry Plains in 1926. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and during the war served in the Pacific Theater.
In earlier years, Mr. Wyrick enjoyed coaching youth baseball. He also liked to watch University of Tennessee sports.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ann Wyrick; three children, twins Teryl Wyrick of Pennsylvania and Teresa McNeely of Oak Ridge, and Jerry Wyrick of California; two sisters, Betty Cook and Louise Williams; a brother, Hugh Wyrick; a nephew, Bill Wyrick and his wife, Sue; and by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Among friends he considered special were "Big Ed" Neusel, John and Lovie Rowell, Jack Gassaway, O.A. Hammond, and his son-in-law, Mike McNeely.
The funeral will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, in the chapel of McCarty-Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home.
Family and friends will meet at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, for a graveside service in the Garden of Meditation at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

Evangeline Yang Bien

Evangeline Yang Bien, 87, of Marietta, Ga., died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997, in Marietta.
Mrs. Bien was the widow of Paul Bien, a research chemist who was retired from Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The Biens formerly lived in Oak Ridge.
She was born in Anwei, China, and was educated at the Keene Methodist Missionary School. Mrs. Bien held a master's degree in library science from Yeching University. She was a retired librarian and was instrumental in the building of a library in Hong Kong.
She was a Methodist and was a member of the American Association of University Women.
Mrs. Bien is survived by three daughters, Daphne Bien Walters and her husband, Richard, of Marietta, Elaine B. Mei and her husband, Peg-Siu, of Carlisle, Mass., and Claire L. Bien and her husband, Arthur, of Napierville, Ill.; a sister, Yang Kwan-Ju of Shanghai, China; and by four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Mount Bethel United Methodist Church in Marietta with the Rev. Banks Brazell officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

Faye Miller Bush
Retired CHS librarian
Faye Miller Bush, 83, of Clinton, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 1997, at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Bush was retired from Clinton city schools. She had been employed as the librarian at Clinton High School.
She attended Carson-Newman College and received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Tennessee and a master's degree from Appalachian State University, Boone, N.C.
Mrs. Bush, the daughter of S. Fletcher and Alice R. Miller, both now deceased, was the widow of Tim Bush. She was a life member of First Baptist Church in Clinton.
She is survived by a cousin she considered special, Art Miller and his family of Clinton; and by several other relatives.
Edna Ruth Jackson of Clinton was considered a special friend.
In addition to her husband and parents, a sister, Ruth Miller, died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 2 this afternoon, Sept. 16, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Samuel Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset cemetery in Clinton.

L.D. Crowley
Retired Clinton merchant
L.D. Crowley, 68, of Clinton, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
Mr. Crowley was founder and operator of Crowley Brothers Guttering in Clinton. Before retiring in the late 1980s, he turned ownership over to his sons.
He was born in Scott County on May 11, 1929, the son of Willard and Bertie Jeffers Crowley, both now deceased. He was a member of Shultz Hollow Baptist Church in Clinton.
Mr. Crowley is survived by his wife, Margaret Chambers Crowley; two daughters, Shirley Overton of Atlanta, Ga., and Mary Smith and her husband, Danny, of Clinton; and four sons, Danny Crowley, Benny Crowley, Jerry Crowley and his wife, Jeannie, and Ricky Crowley and his wife, Barbara, all of Clinton.
He is also survived by six sisters, Alene Long of Columbus, Ohio, Pearl Conaster of Clinton, and Nadine Adkins, Betty Strunk, Macel Strunk and Hazel Harness, all of Oneida; a brother, Arnold Crowley of Oneida; and by 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Two other brothers, Harold Crowley and Walter Crowley, died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. David Crowley officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Jan. 26, at the funeral home.
Patty Jo Williams

Patty Jo Williams, 54, of Auburn, Wash., died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1997, in Seattle, Wash.
Mrs. Williams formerly lived in Oak Ridge and worked at Oak Ridge High School from 1982 to 1988.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband, Dennis H. Williams; her mother, Irene M. Raffle, Des Moines, Wash.; a daughter, Tracy S. Witkowski and her husband, Paul, of Des Moines; a son, Craig A. Williams and his wife, Julianne, of Powell; and two grandchildren, Alexandra Williams and Patrick Witkowski.
No service will be held, as Mrs. Williams had requested.

Edith Hazel Turnbill

Edith Hazel Turnbill, 79, of Clinton, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1997, at Fort Sanders Loudon Hospital.
Mrs. Turnbill was born in Anderson County on Sept. 4, 1918. She had spent most of her life in Clinton.
She was the daughter of F.L. and Vera Kennedy Turnbill, both now deceased.
Mrs. Turnbill is survived by a brother, William Turnbill of Winter Haven, Fla.; three nieces, Vera Turnbill Castleberry, Phyllis Turnbill Collins and Becky Turnbill Harmen; and by three nephews, Michael Turnbill, Allen Turnbill and Anthony Turnbill.
Two brothers, Eugene Turnbill and Elmer Turnbill, two half-sisters, Della Holloway and Dora Herrin, and a half-brother, Frank Turnbill, are deceased.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, in the chapel of Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Michael Price officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Sunset cemetery in Clinton.

Victoria Anne Snodgrass
Daughter of former resident
Victoria Anne Snodgrass, the infant daughter of Jerry Steven and Robin Renea Snodgrass of 3309 Haywood Avenue, Chattanooga, died on Monday, Nov. 17, 1997, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. She was seven days old.
Victoria was born in Chattanooga on Nov. 10, 1997. Her father is a native of Oak Ridge.
In addition to her parents, Victoria is survived by two sisters, Danielle Brown and Elizabeth Snodgrass; her paternal grandparents, Sandy and Jewell Snodgrass of Oak Ridge; and by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her maternal grandparents, Gene and Maxine Mink, are deceased.
A graveside service was to be held at 3 this afternoon, Nov. 19, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with the Rev. E.C. Vestal officiating.
