Tiffany Elaine Mitchell
Tiffany Elaine Mitchell was born in McNairy County, Tennessee on July 30, 1992 the daughter of Timothy Shane Mitchell and Tammy Lynn Stricklin Lopez. Tiffany worked for The Savannah Courier and for Brose Recycling. She enjoyed swimming and being with her friends.
Tiffany departed this life on August 6, 2011 in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 19 years and 7 days. She is survived by her father, Timothy Shane Mitchell of Savannah, Tennessee, her mother, Tammy Lynn Stricklin Lopez and step father, John Lopez of Adamsville, Tennessee, 4 brothers, Alex McClain of Adamsville, Tennessee, Thao Lopez, John Lopez and Antonio Lopez, all of Savannah, Tennessee her grandparents, Joe and Billy Joe Mitchell, Tonaleah Mitchell, Marilee Worley and Maria Lopez, all of Savannah, Tennessee. She is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and a host of friends. Tiffany was preceded in death by her grandfather, Robert Stricklin.
Services will be held on August 13, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, Tennessee, with Eric Isabell officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens at Savannah, Tennessee.

Troy William Lawson
Funeral services for Troy William Lawson, infant son of Brandon and Ashley Lawson were held Sunday, July 10, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Haleyville, AL with Dr. Jim Cooley officiating. Other than his parents, Troy is survived by his brother, Jack Lawson, grandmother Janice Lawson of Ramer, Grandparents Ed & Belinda Rahal and Tom and Jo Ann Williams, Great Grandparents Troy & Dorothy Suggs and Glenn Culp; Great Great Grandmother Bertha Ryan and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Troy was preceded in death by his Grandfather, David Lawson. Burial was in Winston Memorial cemetery in Haleyville.
Memorials can be made to Unity Baptist Church Nursery, Ramer, TN; First Baptist Church, Haleyville, AL or American Cancer Society.

Vada L. Templeton
Vada L. Templeton age 85, of Michie, Tennessee died June 1, 2011 at 2:45 PM at her home of Alzheimer’s Disease. Vada was a loving and compassionate woman with a great sense of humor. Friends, family and co-workers all loved her. Now she’s gone to heaven to meet up with many old friends and make new friends. She was born Vada Sanders on September 16, 1925 and grew up in Counce, Tennessee. She later married Grant Templeton on June 12, 1943. They lived in several places for short periods, but primarily they lived in Counce and Pickwick, Tennessee before moving to Boynton Beach and Lake Worth, Florida and later Peoria, Illinois - where she lived for 46 years. After they divorced, she bravely and successfully entered the business world to support herself and her young daughter. She was a proud woman and she wasn’t interested in living on public aid. She worked retail at Bergners, Grants and finally Ventures Stores where she was a department manager for 20 years. She loved to cook and her hand-grated fresh coconut cakes will be missed by many. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards and late in life became an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. She loved watching the games on TV or listening on the radio. She could talk baseball with anybody.
She is survived by her daughter, Deb Templeton, and her son, Jean Templeton and his wife Carol, both of Michie, Tennessee. She is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family pets will also mourn her loss. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Legacy Hospice, 137 Cypress Ave, Selmer, TN 38375. Or you can honor her by providing time as a volunteer for Legacy Hospice or any hospice organization in your area. Caretakers greatly need this service and there’s a shortage of volunteers.
Services will be held on June 4, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Center Hill Baptist Church in Counce, Tennessee, with Mr. Keith Driskell officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Hill cemetery at Counce, Tennessee.

W.T. Nowlin
Mr. W. T. Nowlin was born May 4, 1930 in Stantonville, Tennessee the son of the late Gifford Robert and Georgie Nunnley Nowlin. On September 17, 1951, he was united in marriage to Billie Swan White. He was a Christadelphian member and a farmer. Mr. Nowlin departed this life on May 30, 2011 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 81 Years, 26 Days. He is survived by his wife Billie Swan (White) Nowlin of Adamsville, TN; two daughters, Vickie Lynn Chriseol of Adamsville, TN, and Cathy Lynn Crowell of Adamsville, TN; a son, Walter Keith Nowlin of Adamsville, TN; two grandchildren, Tammy Lynn Ratliff of Morris Chapel, TN, and Jyssica Cheyenne Swan Nowlin of Morris Chapel, TN; two great grandchildren, Shelby Lynn Carter of Adamsville, TN, and Hannah Beth Ratliff of Morris Chapel, TN. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nowlin was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Nowlin.
Graveside Services were held on May 31, 2011 at the Old Union cemetery in Morris Chapel, Tennessee.

Walter “Robbie” J. Robbins
Walter (Robbie) J. Robbins, CMSGT Ret USAF, departed this earth on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at his residence in Selmer, TN. He will forever live in the hearts of those who loved him. He was born on October 30, 1936 in Troy, OH to the late Walter Jones Robbins and J. Odessa Mumah Robbins. Robbie joined the USMC at the age of 18 serving 8 years before joining the USAF serving 22 years. During his military career he did two tours in the Vietnam War, he retired in 1985. When asked why he left the Marine Corp he would say, “if the Marines wanted you to have a wife and children, they would have issued them!” He was sworn into the USAF wearing his USMC uniform, the same day his tour was up with the Marine Corp. After retiring from the military, he started a new adventure in law enforcement working for LA State Prison system and then the Alexandria LA Police Department where he worked as a jailer until retirement in 2002. He is survived by his wife, Linda Schaffner Robbins; daughters, Michelle Stroud of Pineville, LA, Carolyn Cook Feller and husband Scott of Waukesha, WI; son, Michael Robbins and wife Linda of Donnelly, ID; stepson, Chris Evans and wife Andra of Mansfield, TX; grandchildren, Denise Stroud, Linda Cook, Jacob Stroud and wife Erin, Brandi, Robert, and Alexander Robbins, Tyler Evans; great grandchildren, Addison Jeansonne and Willow Stroud; grandson in training, Cory Jeansonne; special friends, William, Vicki and Denise Moore; cousin, Sandra Mumah; host of extended family and special friends. In addition to his parents, Robbie was preceded by brother, Paul Robbins; infant son, David Wayne Robbins; first wife, Joyce Lidzus Robbins.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at 1:00 PM at the Corinth National cemetery in Corinth, Mississippi with full military honors. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer in charge of arrangements.

Wilma Barber
Wilma Linda Barber was born March 13, 1920 in Crump, Tennessee the second of ten children of the late Ethel Newton Tedford and Odear Young Tedford. She was united in marriage to Dennie Grant Barber on January 30, 1944. Mr. Barber preceded her in death on July 17, 2001. Mrs. Barber was a wonderful baker, having worked at Bomar’s in Adamsville and later at Pickwick Inn as a pastry chef for over five years. She was known for her pies, cooking for her family and canning vegetables. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting. She was a member of the West Shiloh Baptist Church in Stantonville, Tennessee and would often quote the scripture to her grandchildren. Mrs. Barber departed this life on August 2, 2011 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 91 Years, 4 Months, 20 Days. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Donnie Barber, Ronnell Gibbs, Cherry Blanton, Alan Barber, Terri Kalil, Selena Dickey, Jessica Barnes; 12 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great Great Grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Rickman of Selmer, TN, Rebecca Nell Roten of Selmer, TN, Dorothy Jean Ingle of Selmer, TN; host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Barber was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Donnell Blanton; a son, Jerry Don Barber; a sister, Alice Lou Tedford; five brothers, Lowdie, Leonard, Paul Hayes, Joe E., and Raymond Tedford.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, Tennessee, with Jerry Woods officiating. Burial followed in the West Shiloh cemetery at Stantonville, Tennessee.
Serving as Pallbearers were Danny Gibbs, Ronnie Blanton, Justin Dickey, Willie Barnes, Tyler Gibbs, Dreyton Barnes.

Jimmy Neal Dickson
Jimmy Neal Dickson was born December 7, 1937 in Morris Chapel, Tennessee the son of the late James Guy and Essie Franks Dickson.
He was united in marriage to Louise Gann Miller on July 19, 2007. Mr. Dickson was a heavy equipment operator doing mostly bulldozer work. Earlier in his life, he lived in Memphis and classed cotton. He then went to work for Brown Shoe Company working in Savannah, Lexington and Missouri. After his retirement, he worked part time for Randy and Bridget Elliot until he had to retire in December of 2010. He loved his family, friends and enjoyed staying busy. Mr. Dickson departed this life on July 13, 2011 in Bethel Springs, Tennessee at the age of 73 Years, 7 Months, 6 Days. He is survived by his wife Louise Gann Miller Dickson of Bethel Springs, TN; son, Stacy Dickson of Bethel Springs, TN; two stepsons, Dennis Miller and wife Debbie of Selmer, TN, Tommy Miller of Bethel Springs, TN; daughter, Vickie Weber and husband Lewis of Savannah, TN; grandson, Matthew Weber; host of extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dickson was preceded in death by a brother; a stepdaughter, Ellen Miller; a stepson, Joey Miller.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, Tennessee, with Jimmy Cates officiating.

Jean Ann Holland Brown
Jean Ann Holland Brown, 65, of Bethel Springs, TN, passed away May 18 at her residence. Services were at Corinthian Chapel with Bro. Ray Newcomb officiating and interment icon at Carters cemetery. She was a homemaker and of Baptist faith. Surviving are children; Joann Bryant & husband Mitchell of Michie, Clara Hembree of Bethel Springs and Teresa Holland of Miami, FL, Floyd Holland, Bethel Springs and Leslie Holland of Ramer, siblings; Tommy Shriver of Selmer, Billy Shriver of Phoenix, AZ and Esther Tucker of Selmer, grandchildren; Michael Bryant, Christy Suitor, Crystal Holland, Felecia Holland, Dannie Harrison, Alecia Harrison and Cody Holland. She was preceded in death by husband, Eugene Brown and parents Leslie and Clara Burtall McCarty.

James O. (J.O.) Pratt
James O. (J. O.) Pratt was born December 24, 1934 in Shiloh, Tennessee the son of the late Herman and Ruby Jordon Pratt. He was united in marriage to Geneva Ann Austin on November 5, 1954. He was a Machinist for 25 years at Dana Corporation in Corinth, Mississippi. Mr. Pratt was a Christian who served his Lord and fellow Christians faithfully for over 50 years in the Michie, TN First Baptist Church. He served as an active deacon for 33 years, served as church Secretary-Treasurer, taught the young married class, was an RA leader, and a lifelong member of the men’s brotherhood. He cooked, camped, and fished with the men of the church. J. O. Pratt was a happy man who enjoyed the company of his fellow Christians and loved Christian fellowship. Mr. Pratt departed this life on Monday, June 20, 2011 at his home at the age of 76 Years, 5 Months, 27 Days. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Geneva Ann (Austin) Pratt of Michie, TN; two sons, Alan Todd Pratt and wife Karen Denise of Corinth, MS, James Timothy Pratt and wife Teresa Diane of Augusta, GA; three grandchildren, Richard Alan Pratt of Corinth, MS, James Casey Pratt of Corinth, MS, Brianna Nicole Pratt of Augusta, GA; two great grandchildren, Maddox Pratt of Corinth, MS, Mason Pratt of Corinth, MS; a sister, Mary Francis Henderson and husband Wayne of Corinth, MS. A host of extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pratt was preceded in death by a brother, Harlan L. Pratt. His grandparents were the late Otis and Fannie Wingham Pratt and Jim and Nishie Green Pratt, all of the Shiloh community.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Michie First Baptist Church in Michie, Tennessee, with Dr. Leonard Pratt and Mr. Bob Donahoe officiating. Burial followed in the Carter cemetery at Michie. Serving as Pallbearers were Ralph Mills, Joe Austin, James Earl White, Wayne Parker, Ronald Prather, Richard Pratt, Casey Pratt. There was a host of honorary pallbearers Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer was in charge of arrangements.

James Grady Baker
James Grady Baker was born August 26, 1930 in McNairy County, Tennessee the son of the late Grady Baker and Flora Chenault Martin.
He was united in marriage to Marie Inman. Mrs. Baker preceded him in death on March 7, 2003. Mr. Baker retired from Anvil Manufacturing. He loved fishing. Mr. Baker departed this life on May 22, 2011 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 80 Years, 8 Months, 26 Days. He is survived by a daughter, Louise Saxton and husband Jerry of Bethel Springs, TN; two sons, Steve Baker of Nashville, TN, Norman Thompson of Savannah, TN; a sister, Helen Pickens of Adamsville, TN; three grandchildren, Jeff Saxton, Anthony Saxton, Tina Hurt; four great grandchildren, Alyssa Saxton, Crystal Lee Hurt, Anna Lisa Hurt, Josh Hurt. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Baker was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lee Baker.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer in Selmer, Tennessee. Burial followed in the Bethesda cemetery at Selmer, Tennessee.

James Anthony (Andy) Stevens
James Anthony (Andy) Stevens was born May 31, 1958 in Gideon, Missouri the son of Marie Moffett Stevens Humphrey and the late Henry W. Stevens. Mr. Stevens was a welder for the House of Graham. He attended Meeks Grove Baptist Church in Stantonville, TN. Mr. Stevens departed this life on May 18, 2011 in Stantonville, Tennessee at the age of 52 Years, 11 Months, 18 Days. He is survived by a son, Timothy James Stevens of Senatobia, MS; mother, Marie Humphrey and husband Hurley of Stantonville, TN; a grandchild, Kalli Paige Stevens of Senatobia, MS; three sisters, Mary Gray and husband Tommy of Stantonville, TN, Tammy Thacker and husband Jimmy of Stantonville, TN, Penny Bullock and husband Terry of Adamsville, TN; four brothers, Walter Stevens and wife Zelda of Stantonville, TN, Kerry Stevens and wife Malea of Michie, TN, Dennis Stevens of Stantonville, TN, Charles Stevens of Stantonville, TN. In addition to his father, Mr. Stevens was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Services were held on May 19, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Adamsville in Adamsville, Tennessee, with Jetta Forsythe, and Randy Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Stantonville cemetery at Stantonville, Tennessee.

J.D. Harville
J. D. Harville 81, passed away Friday, July 22, 2011 at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah. Services were Monday, July 25, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Wayne Bittle officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hermon cemetery, in Hardin County.

Ivy Cone
Ivy Cone was born April 19, 1916 in Finger, Tennessee the daughter of the late William Louis and Susie Maybelle Starks Plunk.
She was united in marriage to Floyd Cratus Cone on December 21, 1940. Mr. Cone preceded her in death on January 2, 1973 after 32 years of marriage. Mrs. Cone was a dedicated Christian, a loving mother, and a caring homemaker for her family. She was one of the founding members of Lanes Chapel Church near Finger, and was the oldest living member. Mrs. Cone loved her flowers and working in her garden, and she especially enjoyed cooking for her family. Mrs. Cone departed this life on Friday, August 5, 2011 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 95 Years, 3 Months, 17 Days. She is survived by three sons: Keith Cone and wife Betty Sue of Finger, TN, Bill Cone and wife Linda of Finger, TN, Freddie Cone and wife Mary of Bethel Springs, TN; four grandchildren: Regina (Cone) Chandler, Brian Keith Cone, Fallon Nichole Cone, Susie Cromley; three great-grandchildren: Jimmy Lee Miller, Briley Suzanne Miller, Wynter Haven Miller; and many extended family and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Cone was preceded in death by three sisters: Ailene Plunk, Vivian Gray and Alva Vires; two brothers, Arthur Plunk and Frank Plunk.
Funeral services were on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Lanes Chapel Church in Finger, Tennessee, with Bro. Don Lipford and Bro. Pete McCoy officiating. Interment icon followed in the Lanes Chapel cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers were Brian Keith Cone, Jimmy Lee Miller, Terry Cone, Dennis Cone, Lonnie Plunk, Max Plunk, Warren Pollock, and Bill Phillips. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer were in charge of arrangements.

Hershel A. Hensley
Hershel A. Hensley was born February 29, 1940 in Corinth, Mississippi the son of the late Mike and Blan Jewel McCalister Hensley. He was a self-employed housemover. Mr. Hensley was a member of Butler’s Chapel Baptist Church. He loved his grandkids very much and joking and having fun with his family. He trained and shod horses, loved to fish, and was a good cook. He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Hensley McDonald of Savannah, TN; two grandchildren, Teran Riley McDonald of Savannah, TN, Nikki Lea McDonald of Corinth, MS; three sisters, Annie Smith of Ramer, TN, Neoma Pearson and husband Lynn of Selmer, TN, Lavonne Monroe and husband Danny of Selmer, TN; a brother, Russell H. Hensley and wife Carolyn of Ramer, TN; a host of extended family and friends.
Services were held on June 4, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, Tennessee, with Bro. Jetta Forsythe officiating. Burial followed in the Indian Creek cemetery at Ramer, Tennessee.

Hazel Keller
Hazel Keller was born in Blissfield, Michigan on June 28, 1917 the daughter of the late Hermann August and Marie Ida Bachendahl Kittner. On November 13, 1937 she was united in marriage to Vernon Carrol Keller, who preceded his wife in death on April 13, 2007. She was married to Vernon for 69 1/2 years. She received her crown of glory on June 2, 2011 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 93 years, 11 months and 5 days. Mrs. Keller was a homemaker and beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was a long-time member of Faith Lutheran Church in Eustis, Florida. Mrs. Keller was a former resident of Asheville, North Carolina, Holiday, Florida and Ann Arbor, Michigan. She trusted in her eternal salvation through her redemption through Jesus Christ. Mrs. Keller is survived by 2 daughters, Karen Ruhlig of Athens, Illinois and Patricia Murphy of Adamsville, Tennessee. 7 grandchildren, Steven Ruhlig, Sharon Murphy-Nelson, Michael Ruhlig, Beth Fosse, Susan Murphy, Clifford Murphy and Sarah Dunnagan. 15 treasured great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband she was also preceded in death by her twin brother, Harold Kittner, 2 sisters, Mildred Valassis and Ethel Kemp, son-in-law, Reverend Erwin Ruhlig and one grandchild, Daniel James Ruhlig.

Glenda Ferguson
Glenda F. Bratton Ferguson was born December 28, 1926 in Bruce, Mississippi the daughter of the late Ellie Clinton and Joyce Harris Bratton. She was united in marriage to D. D. Ferguson on October 27, 1945. Mr. Ferguson preceded her in death on April 6, 2004.
Mrs. Ferguson was a graduate of Bruce High School in Bruce, MS. She was a homemaker by choice but did work briefly as a secretary for the First Baptist Church in Selmer and for the Sears Catalog Store, also in Selmer. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Selmer, where she served as a member of the choir and also led singing in the children’s department. She enjoyed working in her yard and tending her flowers, but her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ferguson departed this life on July 18, 2011 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 84 Years, 6 Months, 20 Days. She is survived by three daughters: Paula Misenhimer and husband Keith, Kay Donaldson and husband George, Molly Cheshier and husband Jack, all of Selmer, TN; a son, Glenn Ferguson and wife Lucretia of Selmer, TN; seven grandchildren: Lori (Donaldson) Knerr and husband Barry, Jennifer (Misenhimer) Smith and husband Stanley, Jason Misenhimer and wife Amy, Brent Ferguson, Brian Ferguson, Whitney Cheshier, Reed Cheshier; seven-great grandchildren: Sam Summers, Bailey Knerr, Collin Misenhimer, Megan Smith, Trent Smith, Cole Waller, Carter Misenhimer; a sister, Linda (Bratton) Ward and husband Harold of Bruce, MS; a brother, Larry Bratton and wife Shirley of Calhoun City, MS; caregivers Linda Lanham, Alice Martin, Glenda Mitchell, Cindy Sappington, and Elizabeth Thomas; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Laderle Bratton.
Services were held on July 21, 2011 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Selmer, Tennessee, with Bob Elliott, Max Walker, and Mark Thompson officiating. Burial follow in the Hope McNairy County Memorial cemetery at Selmer, Tennessee.

Gladys Laura Phillips Gill
Gladys Laura Phillips Palmer Gill, 87, homemaker and member of Fourth Street Church of Christ in Selmer, TN, passed away in Mountain Home, AR May 27th, 2011.
She was born in Round Pond, AR to the late Allen Mae & Mary Jane (Moon) Phillips on October 4, 1923.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Thomas Palmer and her second husband, Edward Gill, one daughter, Saundra Jean Palmer Walls; two brothers, Cecil Odell Phillips and James Odis Phillips; two sisters, Ruthie Mae Cothern and Orah Pearl Bizzell Willcutt
She is survived by her three daughters, Linda Kay Kitchell (Les) of Gassville, AR, Beverly Ann Sexton (Rodger) of Bryon, GA, Jane Ellen Pippin (Vince) of Olive Branch, MS; Son-in-law, L. T. Walls of Pocahontas, TN; one sister, Mary Helen Hobbs of Forrest City, AR and her niece, Donna Faye Tarbutton of Forrest City, AR who was raised as her sister, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, May 30, 2011 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home and services 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in the Funeral Home Chapel with interment icon following the services at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, AR.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, James Thomas Johnson, John Elton Walls, David Wayne Henry, Michael Shane Sexton, Vincent Jason Pippin and Justin Bryan Pippin.
Service will be conducted by Brother Randy Mead former Minister of Fourth Street Church of Christ in Selmer, TN.
