Henrys to celebrate 50th anniversary (2003-01-22)
Ted E. and Betty Jo (Langford) Henry of Maryville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 25 with a family luncheon hosted by their children at Dogwood Manor at Mt. Olive in Knoxville.
The couple were married Jan. 25, 1953 in Georgia.
Their family includes daughter Penny Murphree and son-in-law Ron Murphree of Knoxville; daughter Robin Henry and son-in-law Steven Sharp of Knoxville. They have one grandson, Blake Mink of Knoxville.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Henry are retired from Scales Builders Supply where Mr. Henry was the manager and Mrs. Henry was the bookkeeper.
Millers to celebrate 50th anniversary (2003-01-22)
Alvin ``Tobe" and Mollie (Jenkins) Miller of Maryville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2-4 p.m. Jan. 25 at the ALCOA Union Hall, Hall Road, Alcoa.
The couple were married Jan. 31, 1953 in Athens. The Rev. J.W. Creasman officiated.
Their family includes children David and Kay Miller of Maryville, Jackie and Gay Miller of Friendsville, Joyce Miller Payne of Maryville and Dennis Miller of Maryville. They have five grandchildren, Bethany Simerly, Caleb Miller, Matt Miller, Seth Miller and Blake Payne, and one great-granddaughter, Macey Simerly.
Mr. Miller is retired from Aluminum Company of America. Mrs. Miller is a housewife.
Harmons observe 46th anniversary (2003-03-12)
Ishmael Lloyd and Velma Ruth (Goforth) Harmon of Alcoa celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary March 9.
The couple were married March 9, 1957 by Horace Green at the Green home in Louisville.
Their family includes children the late Connie Ruth Harmon, the late Sharon Marie Harmon and Darrell Lloyd Harmon and wife Candice Marie Harmon of Friendsville. They have four grandchildren, Tiffany Llynn Harmon, Troy William Harmon, Danielle Leann Harmon and Chelsey Marie Harmon.
Mr. Harmon is employed by CSX Railroad. Mrs. Harmon is a housewife.
Rogerses celebrate 52nd anniversary (2003-03-05)
Leroy and Fay (June Fay Gilland) Rogers of Maryville will celebrate their 52nd wedding anniversary March 7.
The couple were married March 7, 1951 by the Rev. John O. Hood.
Their family includes sons Randy Rogers of Alcoa and Phil Rogers of Knoxville. They have one grandson, Joseph Tyler Rogers.
Mr. Rogers is employed with Blackwood Insurance Associates. Mrs. Rogers is retired.
They enjoy keeping up with their grandson's activities, television sports and Mr. Rogers' Army reunions.
Shockeys celebrate 40th anniversary (2003-03-05)
Tom and Jean (Willa Jean Cornwell) Shockey of Maryville will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary April 9.
The couple were married April 9, 1963.
Their family includes children Tom Shockey Jr. of Chicago and Paulette Miller of Hamond, Ind. They have five children and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Shockey is retired from Republic Steel. Mrs. Shockey is retired from South Chicago Hospital.
They attend Forest Hill Church.
