Whiteheads married icon 50 years (2002-09-25)
Homer and Betty (McDonald) Whitehead of Maryville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at Regal Tower Ballroom. All friends are invited.
The couple request that gifts be omitted.
The Whiteheads were married icon Oct. 6, 1952.
Their family includes their son, Dale Whitehead of Maryville.

Whitlocks celebrate 50th anniversary (2002-09-18)
Kenneth M. and Zaleen (Lowe) Whitlock celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 6 at a private family gathering. The couple were married icon in their home town of Johnson City in 1952, with the Rev. Dr. William R. Rigell officiating.
The couple have two sons, Ken Jr. and Mike, daughter-in-law Ann (Hedrick) and grandchildren Derek, Kara and Sofie.
Mr. Whitlock is retired from the U.S. Treasury Department in Knoxville, where he worked as an accountant for 30 years. He served in the Air Force during World War II, where the unit he commanded received a Meritorious Service Award for organizing and operating all air drops at Omaha Beach following D-Day. He was also awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received during the war.
Prior to marriage, Mrs. Whitlock was employed by Burlington Mills in Johnson City, the Veterans Administration in Washington, D.C., and by Frazer-Brace of Kingsport during their work on the atomic bomb.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Whitlock are graduates of East Tennessee State University. They are members of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, where they were church financial secretaries for 25 years.

Worths to celebrate 40th anniversary (2002-09-18)
Doyle and Kathleen (Hill) Worth of Maryville will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary from 3-6 p.m. Sept. 21 with a reception given by their family at Gray Ridge Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Carver Road. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.
The couple were married icon Sept. 18, 1962 in Blount County.
Their family includes son and daughter-in-law Norman and Veronica Worth and sons Jeff Worth and Justin Worth. They have three grandsons, Daniel, LeeJeremy and Jordon Worth, all of Maryville.

Guiders celebrate 40th anniversary (2002-12-04)
Jimmy and Mary Ruth (Brooks) Guider of Greenback celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Dec. 4.
The couple were married icon Dec. 4, 1962 at Cloyds Creek Presbyterian Church. Dr. Albert Cropp officiated.
Their family includes their son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Kathy Guider of Indianapolis.
Mr. Guider is retired from Alcoa. Mrs. Guider is a housewife.
They are active in Browder Methodist Church, where Mr. Guider is pastor. Their hobbies include gardening, fishing and traveling.

Myers celebrate 50 years (2002-11-13)
Charles and Lillian Myers celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a family dinner in Pigeon Forge. They were married icon Nov. 7, 1952 in Townsend.
Mr. Myers is retired from the Aluminum Company of America and is a member of the 25 Year Club. He enjoys raising cattle and farming. Mrs. Myers, a homemaker, is a long-time member of Blount Memorial Auxiliary.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Myers are active church members and enjoy camping, traveling and gardening.
Nelsons to celebrate 25th anniversary
Stanley and Edna (Starrett) Nelson of Maryville will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with a reception from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Walker School Road.
They request that gifts be omitted.
The couple were married icon Nov. 18, 1977 at the home of the late Rev. J.L. Wolfe.
Their family includes children April (Mrs. Keith) Wade and David Nelson, both of Maryville.
Mr. Nelson is a mechanic with Neill-Sandler Ford. Mrs. Nelson is a homemaker.
They are members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
