Col. Norman Miller Schofield
Born in Philadelphia, PA. on Apr. 2, 1910
Died Oct. 18, 2005 and resided in San Antonio, TX.

World War II Veteran Col. Norman M. Schofield, (Ret) died at the age of 95 on October 18, 2005.
He resided at the Forum at Lincoln Heights since 2000. Scho enlisted in the Army in 1942 and retired at the rank of Colonel from the Air Force in 1968.
His wartime commendations include two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars, one with a designation of valor under fire, and two Legions of Merit.
He was a volunteer at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio from 1968 to 2004 at the age of 94, and was awarded the Commanders Medal for Meritorious Service.
Jeanette H. Chambers and Margaret Gray Thomas preceded him in death.
Scho is survived by the families of William A. Chambers of AL., George Killian of MD., and Gaile Kloss Wood of CT.

Col. Edith Bonnet Whitelaw
Born in Del Rio, Texas on Dec. 26, 1920
Died Oct. 18, 2005 and resided in San Antonio, TX.

Col. (Ret) Edith Bonnet Whitelaw, age 84 went to be with her Lord and Savior on the 18th day of October 2005.She was born the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil L. Bonnet, on the 26th day of December 1920 in Del Rio, Texas.
Upon graduation from the Del Rio High School in 1938, she entered into training at the Medical and Surgical Hospital in San Antonio graduating in 1941 as a Registered Nurse.
She was commissioned a 2nd Lt and joined the United States Army Nurse Corp in July of 1943 and began a career that lasted thirty years. During her early career she served in Hospitals caring for the sick and wounded from the Korean War in both United States and in Japan.
Following a tour of duty in Europe she returned to San Antonio where she earned her BS in nursing at the University of the Incarnate Word and three years later earned her masters degree in Hospital Administration at Baylor Univ.
She served as Chief Nurse of the four hospitals in Japan caring for Viet Nam wounded. Following this assignment she served in the same capacity for two years in the United States Army Europe. In 1971 she was recalled to Washington where she was designated as Deputy Chief of the Army Nurse Corps.
In 1973 Col Bonnet retired from the Army and married Ltc. Landon Whitelaw. Following his retirement for the U.S. Army they returned to San Antonio and settled in Windcrest.

Alejandro Flores Gonzales

Alejandro “Pudgy” Gonzales, Jr., age 39, died on Thursday, October 20, 2005.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alejandro Gonzales, Sr. and Socorro F. Gonzales and his sister, Theresa Gonzales.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Romano; sons, Michael Swetland and Alex Villafane; daughter, Jadrianna Villafane; Honorary Brothers, Omar Gonzalez, Jimmy De Leon and Jerry Flores; and his beloved dog, Ozzy.
Alejandro was a very dedicated and loyal employee of Newell Recycling in San Antonio.
He was respected and loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Richard G. Brown
Born in San Antonio, Texas on Oct. 24, 1947

On October 17, 2005 God must have needed a good man because He took one of the best, Richard G. Brown, Jr., born October 24, 1947, died at the age of 57.
Known by all as “Ricky” or “Brown, ” he enjoyed working with his hands, racing cars and motorcycles, and being with his family and friends. A kind, gentle spirit, Ricky was renowned for his exceptional talent as a machinist.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 36 years, Terry Brown; two children that he loved more than life itself, Ian and Courtney Brown; beloved parents, Richard and Imogene Brown; sister, JoDene Brown; niece, Dana Hoover; brother, Tom Brown and wife, Melanie; nephews, Bryan Brown and wife, Darci, Brandon and Beau Brown; father-in-law; Cecil O. Shuler, Sr.; sister-in-law, Judy Zoeller; nieces, Mandy Pruitt and husband, David; Kim Foley and husband, Chris; Kasey Oden and husband Kirk; brothers-in-law, Leroy Eastwood; nephews, Roy Lee and wife, Paula, Chad Eastwood; Cecil Shuler and wife, Suzanne; nephews, Brandon and Anthony. He was the greatest great uncle to 7 nieces and nephews and leaves behind a number of lifetime friends. Ricky made the world a better place with his peaceful attitude and quiet nature.
He was taken from us all too soon but his love of life lives on in all who knew him.

David L. Ward

David “Dave” Ward age 51 of San Antonio, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2005 in a motorcycle accident in Junction, TX. He attended University United Methodist Church in San Antonio.
Dave graduated from Caldwell High School in Columbus, MS. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Mississippi and completed his post graduate work as a Registered Nuclear Pharmacist at the University of New Mexico. He was employed with PetNet Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Dave was also a member of the American Motorcycle Association.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nettie L. Ward in 1999. He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Ward; daughters, Brianna and Cassie Ward; stepsons, Joshua and Justin Renick; father, Henry L. Ward and wife, Aileen; sister, Kaye Redmon; brother, Johnny Ward and wife, Susan; sister, Robin Huff and husband, Bill; brother, Tracy Ward and wife, Kim; 19 nieces and nephews.

Dr. Eugene Gold, D.C.
Born in San Antonio, TX on Dec. 4, 1921
Died Oct. 23, 2005 and resided in San Antonio, TX.

Dr. Eugene Gold, D.C., born December 4, 1921 and passed away October 23, 2005, at 83 years of age.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ella Goldstein, and a dear friend, Cecile Downey. Survivors are sister, Lillian Safir; and nephews, Larry and David Safir.
Dr. Gold served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a Chiropractor for over 50 years.
He was a long time member of Congregation Agudas Achim.

Cecilia Dauterive Duperier

Cecilia Dauterive Duperier, born June 24, 1912, died in San Antonio on Sunday, October 23, 2005 at the age of 93. She was the daughter of Frank Joseph Dauterive and Modeste (“Maude”) Voohires and lived in New Iberia, Louisiana throughout her youth. She attended Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated in 1933 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry.
She and her late husband, A. W. “Sonny” Duperier, were married for 49 years and lived in Jackson, Mississippi from 1941 to 1988.
Ceil is survived by three sons, A. W. “Dub” Duperier and wife, Joni, of Jackson, Mississippi, Frank Dauterive Duperier and wife, Bitsy, of San Antonio, Texas and Henry Anthony Duperier and wife, Toni, of Houston, Texas. Eight grandchildren. Dianne Bruno and husband, Ted, of Pebble Beach, California, A. W. “Worth” duPerier, III and wife, Elizabeth of Jackson, Mississippi, Lori Beth Duperier of Jackson, Mississippi, Dr. Terive Duperier and wife, Debbie, of San Antonio, Texas, Allison Hayne and husband, Elliott, of San Antonio, Texas, Henry Duperier Jr. and wife, Elizabeth of Charlotte, North Carolina, Elizabeth Yates and husband, Scott, of Madison, Georgia, Dr. Christopher Duperier of Boston, Massachusetts. Nine great grandchildren, Kate and Cecilia Bruno, Gray and A. W. “Worth” Duperier, IV, Jonathan Duperier, Cecilia Hayne, Harvey and Katherine Duperier, and Margaux Yates.
The family wishes to give their appreciation for the loving care and attention given by Sara Quiroga, Catalina Medina, and Adriana Acuna.
A Funeral Mass will take place in Jackson, Mississippi at St. Peters Cathedral at a date to be determined.

Mary Estelle Nations Ross

Mary Estelle Nations Ross - age 86, passed away in ICU at St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital at 9:20 A.M. on Saturday, October 22, 2005.
Mary was born in Poteet, TX on July 25, 1919. She grew up in Goldfinch, TX and attended a one-room school house through her elementary years; later transferring to and graduating from the Pearsall, TX (Frio County) school system. Later, at the age of 50, she became a schoolteacher in San Antonio, TX graduating Summa-Cum-Laude from St. Mary’s University. She taught in the Forest Hills Elementary School for approximately ten years.
She married William L. Ross, a cartographer at Ft. Sam Houston, in 1942. While Mr. Ross was overseas in WWII, Mary took a secretarial course and was employed by United Services Automobile Association for a number of years.
She is survived by her only son, Kenneth Lee Ross of San Antonio; sister, Dr. Nell Nations; nephew, John Forist; and niece, Renelle Sellers and her family, Kelly, Morgan and twins, Chloe and Austin, all of San Antonio; nieces, Maxine McLean and family of Hilton Head, SC and her family; Beverly Hundley of Boerne and her family.
Preceding Mary in death were her husband, William Ross; brother, Carroll Avent Nations; sister, Evelyn Nobel of San Antonio and her husband, Colonel A.K. (Maxie) Nobel, in the Philippines, and parents, John and Frankie Nations of Pearsall, TX.
Mary was a life long member of First Baptist Church of San Antonio; she was an accomplished musician in piano and mandolin, an expert seamstress, cook and home decorator. She was a true friend to many, an unselfish, loving, self-disciplined person with a quiet nature and a deep devotion to her church and to God. We will all miss her very much.

William Graves Noble
Born in Kerens, TX on Oct. 31, 1921
Died Oct. 19, 2005 and resided in Windcrest, TX.

William Graves Noble died peacefully at home on October 19, 2005 at the age of 84.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Trinette Noble; daughters, Patricia N. Johnson, Ellen Noble and Nancy N. Dany; sister, Elma Jean Henderson; grandchildren, Melissa Dany and Andrew Johnson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances A. Noble.
Born in Kerens, Texas in 1921, Noble grew up in Midland, Texas.
After graduating from Midland High School, he attended the University of Texas.
A World War II veteran, Noble was a bombardier in the 483rd Bombardment Group over Italy. After the war, he returned to the University of Texas where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Texan in 1946-47 and obtained a Bachelor of Journalism degree.
Soon after graduation, Noble moved to San Antonio and enjoyed long career in life insurance and public relations, most recently with Hermann Sons.
He retired from the Air Force reserves as a Colonel.
For many years, he was also editor of the Church News for the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas.
