Grace Donahoe Gonzales Garcia
October 1, 1935 - October 28, 2011

Grace Donahoe Gonzales Garcia, 76, surrounded by loved ones left peacefully to be with her Lord October 28, 2011.

Mom, with a spirit of an Angel, she will now fly above and watch over all those she loved.

A beautiful wife, mother of 5 sons and 1 daughter, grandmother of 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson.

Grace was born October 1, 1935 to Oscar Donahoe and Eulalia Perez in Hebbronville, TX. She lived in Corpus Christi, TX and at age 15 moved to Snyder, TX where she married Daniel Gonzales and raised 5 children. They moved to Abilene in 1960.

On December 28, 1971 she married Gregorio Garcia Jr and they had one son.

They brought together 2 families and made a beautiful home filled with warmth love and care.

Mom knew each one of her children’s and grandchildren’s special treats and always had it waiting for them. She made each person feel very special and unique.

Grace was a member of The First Mexican Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband Greg Garcia, children Danny Gonzales and wife Betty, Larry Gonzales, Dianna Gonzales, Eddie Gonzales, Alicia Martinez and Gregory Garcia and wife Michelle. 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson, sisters Josie Bull, Minnie Quezada, brother George Donhoe, all of Corpus Christi, TX.

Grace is preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Eulalia Donahoe, a brother Oscar Donahoe Jr, and beloved son Freddy Gonzales.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 31, 2011, at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South with burial to follow. Visitation for family and friends is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, October 30, 2011.

The family would like to express a special thank-you to Dr. Clevis Parker, nursing staff at Wisteria Place, and Hospice of the Big Country.

Marilyn Joanne McBride
October 3, 1952 - October 26, 2011

Marilyn Joanne McBride, 59, was called to her heavenly Father Wednesday, October 26, 2011 from Hendrick Medical Center Hospice Care. Viewing will be held at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Highway 277 South, Friday 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Faith Deliverance Community Church, 5501 Highway 277 South, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday followed by a burial at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Marilyn was born October 3, 1952 at Hendrick Medical Center, Abilene, Texas to Pauline Hunter. She attended Woodson High School and McMurry University.

She worked her whole life caring for others in Abilene, Tx, Oak Harbor, Wa, Corpus Christi, Tx and Bremerton, Wa as an LVN. Her hobbies included sewing, decorating, antique shopping, listening to Gospel music and, her favorite, experimental cooking.

Known by all that were close to her by her middle name, Joanne, she was a phenomenal mother of four to Craig McBride, Anthony McBride, Ninenia McBride and Nicory Eatton; grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 2.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Hunter and sisters, Sybil McGarity and Inita Sanders. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Benny Hunter, Linda Hunter, Greg Sanders, Darrell Sanders, Larry Colbert, Cindy Jordan Tony Cobert, and Keith Hunter.

The family encourages donations to the Abilene Cancer Services Network, www.cancerservicesnetwork.org or Hendrick Hospice Care in lieu of flowers. God Bless.

Ruby Marie Moore
May 8, 1918 - October 24, 2011

Ruby Marie Moore, 93, passed away October 24, 2011 at Wisteria Place in Abilene. Her funeral will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 26, 2011 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Ruby was born May 8, 1918 in Bristol, Colorado to Benji Pillans and Nona Foster. She married Ned Moore on June 14, 1939 in Baird, Texas.

Ruby is survived by one daughter, Renee Hymer of Georgetown; two sons, Ned Moore and wife Kathy of Georgetown, and Nick Moore and wife Judy of Gilmer; eight grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.

Ruby was preceded in death by husband, Ned Moore on November 12, 1984; two brothers; and six sisters.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made to Sears Hospice Care, One Village Drive, Suite 400, Abilene, Texas 79606

Lester Munson Sr. I am a Veteran.
July 10, 1925 - May 16, 2016

Lester Munson Sr., 90, passed away May 16, 2016 in Abilene. Visitation will be 11:00 AM, Friday, May 20, 2016 followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:30 AM in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South.

Lester was born July 10, 1925 in Manor, TX to parents, Glen and Elen Munson. He grew up in Austin, TX and graduated from Austin High School. After high school he joined the United States Navy and served faithfully during WWII. He was assigned in the Pacific on the USS Yorktown and the USS Shangri La. He had a long career in the auto-parts sales industry and owned and operated two of his own stores. He enjoyed attending Tuscola United Methodist Church. Lester was the kind of guy who never met a stranger and considered everyone to be a friend. He enjoyed boating and spending time at the lake, and taught all of his children to water ski. Lester was also an avid Texas Longhorn fan.

He is survived by three sons, Ronny Munson of Tuscola, Lester Munson, Jr. and wife Sharon of Tuscola, Bryan Irvin of Kyle, TX; one daughter, Janis Russell and husband Mark of Georgetown; one daughter-in-law, Jessie Munson of Tuscola; five grandchildren, Katy Johnson and husband Rick, Matt Munson and wife Pam, Mack Russell and wife Amy, Justin Russell and wife Katie, Jenny Rogers and husband Chris; eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Lester was preceded in death by four sisters; three brothers; and his parents.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Tuscola United Methodist Church in Lester's honor, 702 S 7th St, Tuscola, TX 79562

Jerry "Pops" Lee Darnell
August 19, 1950 - June 3, 2016

Jerry Lee Darnell "Pops" was born August 19, 1950 in Woodward, OK and went home to be with Jesus Friday June 3, 2016 in Abilene, TX, while surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was a mighty man of God, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Jerry attended Panhandle State University, the University of Houston and worked in the convenient store business as a regional manager and Retail Supervisor for forty years. He always took pride in his work and was consistently a top performer in his profession.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Floral Ike and Mary Emaline Darnell of Guymon, OK, his sis Mary Oleta Brankel of Guymon, OK, and his grandson Evan Lee Darnell of Bixby, OK.

He is survived by his wife Betty Kay Darnell of Abilene, TX, four children Christina and Scott Caldwell of Clovis, NM, Matt and Brandi Darnell of Bixby, OK, Stephanie and Justin Nairn of Lubbock, TX, and Nick and Christina Darnell of Seneca, MO, eleven grandchildren Christian, Jewel, Gabe, Kaytlynn Lee, Jocelyn, Ryan, Rylee, Devyn, Emma, Isabella, and Chloe, two brothers Floyd and Donna Darnell of Guymon, OK and Don and Willie Darnell of Canon-City, CO and brother in law Gary Brankel of Guymon, OK and many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Jerry was a member of Champions Church in Abilene, TX where he served the Lord with all his heart just as he served his family and friends all of his life.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 5th from 6-8pm at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 S Abilene. Memorial service and Celebration of his life will be at Champions Church, 7474 Buffalo Gap Rd Monday, June 6th at 2pm in Abilene. Graveside will take place Tuesday, June 7th at Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon, OK at 4pm.

July 13, 1975 - May 23, 2016

Sona' Trucks, 40, passed away May 23, 2016. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, May 27, 2016, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 12:00 PM Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.

Sona' Trucks was born July 13, 1975 in Abilene, Texas to parents Isidro Rosales and Barbara Rosales.

She was married at the age of 20 years old and had three girls during the marriage. Arriana Desiree Trucks, Lacy Kristine Trucks, and Savanah Americus Trucks and later had two more daughters, Reagan Cheyanne Rosales and Nevaeh Primrose Rosales. She loved her girls more than life. Over the course of her life she was a stay at home mother and waited tables.

She had a loving, caring, thoughtful, strong, beautiful, goofy, kind hearted personality. She was a hard-working woman who was a great cook, full of life, and had a heart of gold. She would do anything to protect her family, she was mama bear just like her mother.

No matter the struggle or heartache, she endured. She always put her daughters and family first. She wanted her daughters to feel the love she did from her father. She was and still is Daddy's little girl. At the age of 7 she was the one who was by her mother's side making homemade tortillas and food from scratch. She loved to dance and make people laugh. She found joy in other's happiness and success.

She is preceded in death by her grandmother Olivia Ruiz and cousin Oscar Garcia.

She is survived by two brothers and a sister; Sonny Rosales, Ysidro Jimmy Rosales, and Danielle Dominga Rosales. Her sister-in-law Crystal Lenaye Parks, who has been her best friend for over 20 years. She has eleven nieces and nephews who she loved as her own.
