Tommie Jo Huling

Tommie Jo Huling, 81, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009. She was born in Wellington, Texas on December 27, 1927 and grew up in San Angelo where she graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1945. After high school, she attended Texas Tech University. She married the love of her life, Gerald Huling on June 2, 1946, after he returned from serving in the U.S. Armed forces during World War II.

She was a homemaker while raising her family and later worked at Goodfellow Credit Union and Mitsubishi Aircraft and was the manager of Cielo Vista Apartments from 1975 to 1978. She was a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed water skiing, golf, and playing bridge but most of all in her life, she loved spending time with her family and friends, who were an endless source of pride and joy in her life.

She is survived by her son, Greg Huling and wife Crystal of San Angelo; daughter, Leslie Huling of Austin, Texas; daughter, Lisa Diebitsch and her husband Gregg; 'brother', Donald Chandler and wife Bonnie; sister-in-law, Louise Moulton and sister-in-law, Monette Huling Lasater and husband Albert; six grandchildren, Grant Huling and wife Missy of Austin; Garrett Huling and wife Natalie of McAllen; Stacy and Graham Austin of Austin, Texas and Colton and McKenna Diebitsch of San Angelo; Great grandchildren, Ava and Grayson Huling of Austin, Texas and a number of loving and supportive nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald S. 'Bitsy' Huling; her parents, Joe and Ella Moulton; her sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and Trammel Wilson; her brother Pete Moulton; and her nephew, Joe Moulton.

The Pallbearers will be, Grant Huling, Garrett Huling, Graham Austin, and Tom Austin. Honorary pallbearers include Gregg Diebitsch and Marshall Huling.

Tommie had a great sense of humor and she will be dearly missed by all, but especially by her beloved sister-in-law, Louise Moulton; her best friend, Francis Pinson and her dear friends Gloria and Travis Perry.

We love you 'Mimi' and are so thankful we had you all these years.

A service celebrating her life will be at 3:00pm, Friday, March 13, 2009 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Pastor Harold Watkins of Freedom Fellowship Church officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.

A family visitation will be held on Friday before the funeral from 1:45pm to 2:45pm at the Robert Massie Funeral Home.

The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff at Meadow Creek Nursing Home who provided her with loving care and to the doctors and nurses of Shannon Medical Center and VistaCare Hospice, especially Chaplain J.T. Tucker for his prayer and concern.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in her honor be made to the charity of your choice or Meals for the Elderly, the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.

Mary Irene Jackson

Died: Mar 11, 2009
Mary Irene Jackson, 62, of San Angelo passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at an area hospital.

Mary was born on March 24, 1946 to Jesse Henderson Martin and Luzelle Hunnicutt in Brady, Texas. Mary married Robert Lee Jackson on September 11, 1961 in San Angelo and worked for Wal-Mart and Goodfellow Air Force Base.

Funeral services will be at 1:00pm, Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Robert Massie Funeral Riverside Chapelwith Minister Nathan Bosworth, pastor of Celebration Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Jackson; son, Johnny Darl Jackson; sister, Ethel Martin, Jesse Penney, and Darlene Martin.

She is survived by her son, Tommy Lee Jackson of San Angelo; daughter Lisa Nix and her husband James of Burton; grandchildren, Jessica Jackson and Justin Wilhite both of Burton; sisters, Margie Meador of Abilene; Donna Richards of San Angelo; Julie Martin of San Angelo; and Margie Ann Martin of San Angelo; brothers, Larry Ray Martin of San Angelo; R.B. Martin of San Angelo; and Bill Martin of Abilene.

Mary Dillard Kolster

Born: Jan 01, 1900
Died: Mar 04, 2009
Mary Ruth Kolster (Grandma) went to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at the age of 87, with her family at her side.

Family Visitation will be Friday March 6, 2009 at Robert Massie Funeral Home between the hours of 6-8 pm.

Graveside services will be Saturday March 7, 2009 at 10:00 am at the Pioneer Cemetery in Grape creek, Texas with Pastor Randy Hines of the Bible Barn Officiating.

Mary was born in Belton, Texas on March 22, 1921 to Esther & Henry Dillard. She lived most of her life in San Angelo and was a homemaker. She was a very strong and independent person who loved and lived for her family. She will be greatly missed by everyone.

Her parents, sisters a daughter Sonja Rosser, Three granddaughters and one great granddaughter preceded her in death. Mary is also preceded in death by daughter-in-law Pat Rolster and son-in-law Billy Womack.

One son and three daughters survive Mary. Son; John Kolster, daughters; Cynthia Campbell and husband Kenneth; Teresa Hight, Pam Womack and husband Ronnie Allen all of San Angelo, Texas. 17 grandchildren 38 great-grandchildren and 11 great great-grandchildren also survive her. The family would like to thank Dr Denver Marsh for the care he gave to Mary.

William T. Shaffer Jr.

Died: Mar 03, 2009
William Thomas Shaffer Jr. died March 3, 2009, in his San Angelo home at the age of 91. The oldest of four children, William was born September 5, 1917 in Robinson Township, Pennsylvania. From 1942 to 1945, he served in the Army Air Corps as a Sergeant specializing in night-flight training. After being discharged honorably from the Army Air Corps, William was an Adaptive Equipment Specialist for the Veriland Foundation for Exceptional Children. Retiring in 1982, William, his wife Evelyn, and son Richard moved to San Angelo to be with family. He was a member of the New Apostolic Church and was an avid woodworker; William spent much of his time crafting items for others� enjoyment. He was never known to own a car, but he enjoyed staying active, often walking for miles each day.

He is survived by his eldest son William Thomas Shaffer III and wife Rebecca of San Angelo, his daughter Kathie Rae Shaffer of Alexandria, VA, and youngest son Richard Lloyd Shaffer of San Angelo. He is further survived by three grandchildren, Michelle Richardson, Angela Shaffer, and Shemeca Shaffer, and four step-grandchildren, Christina Pape, Stephen Stephens, Joseph Stephens, and Kyle Stephens. He has thirteen great-grandchildren and two surviving sisters, Thelma Grace Robinson and Jean Elizabeth Richardson, both of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.

In 1996, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Evelyn Rae Shaffer. His younger brother Elmer Verner Shaffer passed away in 1942.

A private graveside service will be held at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Lewis R. "Bob" Knight

Born: Jul 11, 1925
Died: Feb 27, 2009
Lewis 'Bob' Knight, 83 of San Angelo died Friday February 27, 2009 at his residence.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Bob was born July 11, 1925 in Mattoon, IL. To Louis C. and Elsie Pearl Leathers Knight.

He was an industrial engineer and served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp. in World War Two.

He married Geraldine F. 'Shana' Herd on July 3, 1990 in Independence, Mo.

Survivors include his wife, Shana of San Angelo; a daughter Melissa McCarthy of Titusville, Fl., three sons; Robert Knight and Mark Knight, both of Orlando, Fl. And Brian Knight of San Angelo; two step sons; Robert Sager of Denver and Brian Keith Anders of Erwin, TN., and two step daughters, Michelle Hormann of Kansas City, Ks, and Debra Lynn Wileman of Colorado Springs, Co.; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family wants to give a special thanks to Hospice of San Angelo for their care and support.

Asencion Torres Sr.

Born: Jun 01, 1924
Died: Feb 27, 2009
Ascencion Torres Sr., 84 of San Angelo went to be with the Lord, Friday February 27, 2009 at an area nursing home.

Rosary will be 7:00 PM Sunday March 1, 2009 at the Robert Massie Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass will be 2:00 PM Monday March 2, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Quirio Cornejo, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Ascencion was born June 1, 1924 in Doole, Texas to Baltazar and Osevia Hernandez Torres.

He worked with the City of San Angelo in the Street and Bridge Department and was a lifelong sheepshearer.

He married Senovia Flores on December 31, 1944 in Wall, Texas. They shared 62 wonderful years together until her passing on December 4, 2006.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers; Lorenzo Torres and Jamie Torres Sr. a sister; Martha Navarro and his son-in-law; Henry Jones Sr.

Survivors include; a daughter, Irene Jones; two sons, Ascencion Torres Jr. and his wife, Jeri; Juan Manuel Torres and wife Marisa, all of San Angelo; one sister, Rosa Madrigal of Hereford, TX., and one brother, Amador 'Mayo' Torres of Waco, TX.; 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Henry Jones Jr., Andrew Jones, Anthony Jones, Juan Manuel Torres Jr., Monica Torres and Paul Torres

Special Thanks to VistaCare Hospice and Baptist Memorial doctors and staff for the loving care they showed our father and our family.
