Jenobeba Ilene “Babe” Yingst, 87, of Crosby, passed away in a Humble hospital. Private services were held.
Babe was born on October 27, 1918 in Woodson, TX to parents James Sylvester Cox and Martha Cleo Morrison Cox. She was a resident of Crosby for the last 34 years where she operated restaurants. Babe enjoyed gardening and flowers.
Babe was preceded in death by her parents and eleven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her loving husband Merlry V. Yingst of Crosby; daughter, Glenda Nino of Crosby; brother, Wayne Cox of Goodrich; granddaughters, Angela Schmadl of Kingwood and Lisa Nino of Crosby and great-grandchildren Dillon Schmadl and Hannah Schmadl of Kingwood. Abigail Nicole Dennis
Abigail Nicole Dennis was born on December 25, 2005 and is survived by her proud parents Joshua and Kelly Dennis, her Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
She will always be remembered as a strong girl whose will to fight taught us to never give up.
For our loving daughter services will be at Seaside Memorial Funeral Home on January 12.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. and the Memorial service will be celebrated at 7 p.m.
Edward James Collins
Edward James Collins, 32, of Highlands, passed away in a Houston hospital on Sunday. Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 9 pm on Wednesday at Sterling-White Chapel in Highlands. Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday at Sterling-White Chapel in Highlands. Committal services and interment will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands.
Edward was born on July 27, 1973 in Derby, Ct to parents Clarence E. Collins Jr. and Margaret R. Boomhower Collins. Edward graduated from Camp Verde High School in Az in 1991. He worked as a Tugboat Captain. Edward enjoyed riding four -wheelers, watching movies and working on his house but mostly enjoyed spending time at home with his family. Edward recently received a commendation from the Department of Homeland Security and the Coast Guard for saving a life.
Brother Eddie “Big June” Castle Jr.
Brother Eddie “Big June” Castle Jr., was born to Rosetta Parker and Eddie Castle Sr. on January 18, 1932 in Maringouin, Louisiana. He later moved to Baytown, Texas where he met and fell in love with Dorothy Broussard. They were married on June 27, 1959. In 1961 they were blessed with a lovingly devoted daughter named Brenda Lee.
Eddie was a self-employed General Contractor, who was known throughout for his expertise in masonry. As a devoted member of Unity Baptist Church, Brother Castle worked for many years on the Usher Board.
Margarita Estevane Gonzales
Margarita Estevane Gonzales, 96, of Bayard, New Mexico passed away January 3, 2006. She was born in Cusihuiriachic, Chihuahua, Mexico on March 5, 1909. Margarita has been a resident of Baytown for the last 5 years. She was a member of Spanish Jehovah Witnesses in Baytown.
Her pleasure was reminiscing of her life growing up on a ranch and her experiences during her lifetime. She was a homemaker who loved gardening, cooking, knitting and sewing. Mrs. Gonzales also known as Mom or Grandma Mom was a loving mother and grandmother.
Eva Walcy Cogburn
Eva Walcy Cogburn, born January 10, 1904, joined her blessed Lord and Savior on January 10, 2006, at 102 years of age in La Porte, Texas.
She was an active member of the Methodist church and in The Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years, where she held the office of Deputy Grand Matron in 1947-48, in Nixon, TX.
Jessie Congleton
Jessie Congleton, 90, of Highlands, passed away at a Jacinto City Nursing home Monday night. Visitation will be held from 5 pm-9 pm on Thursday at Sterling-White Chapel in Highlands. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Friday at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Baytown.
Jessie was born on January 5, 1916 in Vinton, La to parents J.L. Case and Ida M. Goleman Case. Jessie was a longtime resident of Highlands where she was a homemaker. She enjoyed crochet and crosswords, but her passion was her grandchildren.
Lynn Jay Lenamond
Following a lengthy illness, Lynn Jay Lenamond was surrounded by his family and friends as he padded into the arms of his Savior on January 4, 2006, in Waco, Texas. He was 69. Born March 28, 1936 in Limestone County, he graduated from Baytown’s Robert E. Lee High School in 1954. He served in the U. S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He then returned to Baytown and was employed in the steel fabrication industry and became involved in other numerous entrepreneurial interests. In 1966, he married Mary Sue Wells. They were blessed with a son, Grady Lynn in 1970. Their family moved to Groesbeck, Texas in 1978, which remained his primary residence until the time of his death. During these years he was involved in cattle ranching and pigeon trapping pursuits. His wife Mary Sue preceded him in death in 1986. He the married Billie Joyce Baldwin in 1988, who survives him. He is also survived by his father Grady E. Lenamond of Baytown; son Grady Lynn Lenamond and wife Cindy, grandson Garrett Lynn Lenamond, all of Groesbeck; brothers Gene Lenamond of Baytown, Farris Lenamond and wife Judy of Angleton; and sister Judy Telford and husband Jack of Groesbeck; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Family preceding him in death include his mother Mell Dean Lenamond, brother Horace Lenamond and grandson Evan Jeter. His family and friends will remember him as a loyal patient and fun loving man. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed card games, many of which were enlivened by his gift for telling “tall tales”. His sense of humor will not be forgotten.
Margaret Evelyn “Lyn” Morton
Margaret Evelyn “Lyn” Morton, aged 81, died January 5, 2006 in Jacksonville, Florida at Community Hospice with family at her side. Born in Tacoma, Washington, she was predeceased by her parents, Benjamin E. and Clara Paul, and siblings, Walter and Arthur Paul, Mildred Aughe, and Helen Frost. Lyn is survived by son Leonard “Chip” Morton and grandsons, Joseph and John Morton of Highlands, Texas. She is also survived by her daughter, Diane Morton Harris (Grady) of Jacksonville, grandchildren Alex Harris, Laurel Harris Baffa (David), and great-grandchildren Kathleen Evelyn and Jane Marie Baffa, all of Chicago, Illinois. In Tacoma, she is survived by her niece, Judith Helene Frost.

Halden M. Shell, 91 of Baytown went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 11, 2006. Born in Georgetown, TX June 23, 1914, several of his neighbors and friends often spoke of how giving a man he was. Shell was a member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his son, Halden Michael Shell and his wife, Bonnie M. Shell. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Malcolm Bernard of Baytown; and granddaughters Kelly Shaw of Houston, TX and Heather Shaw of Shawnee, OK.

William Mitchel “Bill” Pitman, 74, of Mont Belvieu, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 11, 2006. The family will receive visitors from 5 pm-9 pm on Friday at Sterling-White Chapel in Highlands. Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday at Old River Baptist Church in Mont Belvieu. Rev Danny Biddy and Rev. Tommy Lyles will officiate. Committal services and interment will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands. Serving as pallbearers will be Lewin Barber, Daryl Mathews, Gary Christensen, George Havard, Wayne Eby and Virgil Gourlay. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Kubik and Ernie Hanks.

Latonya Monik (Foodie) Peterson, one of 3 children, born to Dessie Peterson and Hyacinth Jean Charles passed away on January 6, 2006. LaTonya was born in Galveston, Tx on January 25, 1981 and raised in Baytown, Tx. She attended Barbers Hill High School and later graduated from Robert E Lee High School. She, also attended San Jacinto College.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents Rosebud and Dorris Lee Peterson; uncles Lester, Bill, Bennie Ray and Leodist Peterson; and Aunt Dorothy Peterson. She leaves to mourn her mother, Denise Peterson, Father, Hyacinth JeanCharles, brothers, Preston and Franklin Peterson; niece, Samara Peterson; cousins, Sterling Howard, Jr. Latuisha, Adrian Dwayne, Laterra Nicolette Boston, Alvin Eugene Peterson and Florence Ramirez. She is also survived by Aunt and Uncle Mary Dell and Sterling Howard Boston, Aunt Maggie Sue White, Uncle Dossie Peterson and Rosebud Peterson Jr., and Loretta Ramey known as Claudia, like second mother. Pallbearers: Preston Peterson, Broderick Peterson, Garland Menifee, Cameron Gold, Lonnie Gold, Calvin Leday, Jr and Duan Louis. Honorary Pallbearers are Alvin Peterson and Sterling Boston, Jr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Mary Kerr; five brothers; three sisters; husband, Samuel Lloyd Miller; and daughter, Lois Thorn.

Joe Zorn, prominent Baytown attorney for over 50 years, civic and Methodist church leader, loving husband and father, tough competitor and principled counselor who stood for honesty and truth, passed away January 11, 2006 after battling a number of illnesses over the last few years. He was 81 years old and counseled clients, friends and family until the month of his death.

Florence Peddy 92 of Baytown passed away Thursday at the San Jacinto Hospital. She spent most of her life in Anahuac having worked at her family businesses including the City Café and the Teen Canteen. She also had worked at Hill’s Grocery in Anahuac and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anahuac. Mrs. Peddy spent some of her early years in Beaumont where she attended and graduated from South Park High School. Services will be held at 2 pm Saturday at First Baptist Church in Anahuac with burial at Anahuac Cemetery under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. She is survived by: Children: David Peddy and his wife Audrey of Groves, Elmo Peddy and his wife Kay of Hankamer, Kathleen Davis and her husband Willie Ray of Moss Bluff and Danny Peddy and his wife Lou of Baytown; Brother: Kelly Hogg of Virginia; 12 Grandchildren; 20 Great-Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren. She was born in Goose Creek, Texas to George Silas and Edna Lee Strange on January 8, 1924 of whom preceded her in death along with her husbands, Venton Parker and Grady Casey; brother, George Strange, Jr.; sister, Hazel Kelley.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Lee Greening and husband, Homer, Willene Davis and husband, Paul “Bimbo”; grandchildren, Scotty Jurecka, Melissa Howe, Sharla Bittick and fiancée Ricky Cranney, Paul “Scooter” Davis and Stephanie, Preston Davis; great-grandchildren, Thomas Howe, IV, Matthew Bittick, Hannah Bittick, Celese Cranney; nephew, Warren Hale and wife, Gail and many other loving family members and caring friends.

Mary Gertrude Broussard, 104 of Baytown passed away at her residence on January 9, 2006. Mrs. Broussard was born on August 30, 1901 in St. Martinville, Louisiana. She lived 27 years in Louisiana, 12 years in Dayton and 65 years in the Baytown community. She was a chartered member of Holy Family Catholic Church in McNair, TX. She was also a member of the Alter Society and Ladies Auxiliary of Holy Family Catholic Church. She enjoyed large family gatherings in the yard, and loved the grandchildren. Mrs. Broussard also enjoyed cooking, gardening, her animals, and she was a homemaker.
