Harold Lindsey Kester
CROWLEY -- Harold Lindsey Kester, 80, a manufacturer's representative, died Tuesday, June 24, 1997, at his home.

Memorial service: 7 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Worth.

Memorials: Mr. Kester requested that memorials be made to the Trinity Lutheran Children's Center.

Hal Kester was born Sept. 20, 1916, in Garner, Iowa. He attended Central College in Pella, Iowa, where he played basketball and then semi-pro basketball for four years. He served in the Marine Corps and was a World War II veteran. He moved to Fort Worth in 1955 and worked as a manufacturer's representative for over 40 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 43 years and served as president of the board for its Children's Center. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and three sisters.

Survivors: Wife of almost 59 years, Arlys Kester of Crowley; daughters, Starr Gastine of Hurst and Mindy Barron of Fort Worth; grandson and his wife, Keith and Stephanie Kowalski of Hurst; granddaughter and her husband, Becky and Freddie Robledo of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Nichole Gastine of Jeffersonville, Ind.; great-grandsons, Christopher Kowalski of Hurst and Brandon Robledo of Fort Worth; and four nieces and one nephew.

ARLINGTON -- J.T. "Tom" Ligon, 81, a retired telephone company supervisor, died Tuesday, June 24, 1997, at an Arlington hospital.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park.

Memorials: American Lung Association, Union Gospel Mission, Salvation Army or a charity of choice.

James Ligon was born Dec. 17, 1915, in Fort Worth, a fourth generation Fort Worthian and great-grandson of Colonel Abe Harris, who served under General Worth. His love for horses led him to enlist in the Cavalry Division of the National Guard in the late 1930s. He was also a Mason and an Elk. James retired as supervisor with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, Yellow Pages division after 391/2 years. He received the Distinguished Salesman Award and was top salesman for three years. After retiring from the telephone company, he and a partner saw a need for providing Georgetown, Texas, residents with safe and clean water and opened the Water Carry Out Store.

He will be remembered by family and friends for his love of life, his wonderful sense of humor, his culinary prowess and his "Pearls of Wisdom."

Survivors: Son, James T. Ligon Jr. and his wife, Phyllis, of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; daughters, Yvonne Shipman and her husband, John, and Linda Ligon, all of Grand Prairie, and Sharon L. Moore of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Melinda Barnes, Christy Barnes, Jay Moore, Martha Moore, James T. Ligon III and Jean-Paul Ligon; great- grandchildren, Seth and Sheridan Moore, Jason Tyler and Zachary Thomas Ligon; and nephew, Lynn Ligon.

Wanda "Sue" May was born May 30, 1924, in Raton, N.M. She was a lifelong Methodist.

FORT WORTH -- Beverly Naugle, 69, a homemaker, died Wednesday, June 25, 1997, at an Arlington hospital.

Beverly Naugle was born Aug. 10, 1927, in Fort Worth.

Beverly worked at the Fort Worth Star- Telegram before her marriage in 1948 to Dave Naugle, a broadcaster. They had two sons, and after the first child was born she worked at the `Star-Telegram the first four days of every month.

She was a member of Meadowbrook United Methodist Church and the Meadowbrook Womans Club and was head of the nursery and kindergarten department at the church. She was a member of the Upper Room Class and was co- superintendent of the church high school department for two years. She was a member of the PTA Super Chicks and was a coordinator of Meals On Wheels.

She was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W.B. and Marjorie Chambers, who owned Chambers Drug Store in Poly.

Survivors: Husband of 49 years, Dave Naugle of Fort Worth; sons and daughter-in-law, David K. Jr. and Deemie Naugle of Duncanville and Mark Naugle of Fort Worth; brother and sister- in-law, W. Bruce and Anilee Chambers of Plano; grandaughter, Courtney Shwadlenak; uncle, Edward Chambers of Plano; and nephew, Brent Chambers of Plano.
