Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday at Birdville Church of Christ. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park.

David Bird was born Feb. 27, 1938, in Fort Worth.

He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 68 and Birdville Church of Christ.

Survivors: Wife, Glenda Bird of Richland Hills; sons, Michael Bird of Fort Worth and Mark Bird of Euless; five brothers; six sisters; and grandchildren, Allie Bird and Ashleigh Bird.

FORT WORTH -- Paul L. Crenshaw, 64, a petroleum engineer consultant, died Thursday, July 3, 1997, at home.

Memorial service: 11 a.m. Monday at Overton Park United Methodist Church. Officiants: Dr. J. Eric McKinney, the Rev. Mike McKee and the Rev. Joe Duvall. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home.

Mr. Crenshaw was born May 19, 1933, in Douglas.

He was a member of Overton Park United Methodist Church, S.P.E. and A.I.M.E., and The Ed Robb Evangelistic Association. He was a graduate of Colorado City High School in 1950 and Texas Tech University in 1954.

Survivors: Wife of 43 years, Louise Crenshaw of Fort Worth; children, Mike Crenshaw and his wife, Terry, of Houma, La., Kathy Sheffield and her husband, Kenny, of Hurst, Leigh Gregory and her husband, Loyd, of Ralls, and Steve Crenshaw and his wife, Sandra, of Wichita, Kan.; mother, Faye Hughes of Lake Montezuma, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Connie Crenshaw of Kilgore; five grandsons; and three granddaughters.

Earnestine Davis Earl
FORT WORTH -- Earnestine Davis Earl, 88, a teacher, died Friday, July 4, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Graveside service: 2 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Memorial Park.

Memorials: charity of choice.

Earnestine Earl was born Sept. 9, 1908, in Winters.

She taught elementary classes for 20 years in the Fort Worth Independent School District. She was a member of the Fort Worth Woman's Club, the Friday Lecture Group, the Fort Worth Garden Club and the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman T. Earl in 1986.

Survivors: Daughter, Carolann Earl Krause of Houston.

Emma Ewing was born April 21, 1909, in Megargel.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ranger.

Survivors: Son, Denny Ewing of Decatur; daughter, Dorothy Krumm of Dale; and grandchildren, Alan Krumm of Dale and Erin Ewing of Decatur.

Martha Harrison Farris
FORT WORTH -- Martha Harrison Farris, 95, a retired Licensed Vocational Nurse, died Wednesday, July 2, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Martha Farris was born May 23, 1902, in Goldthwaite.

She was preceded in death by husband, W.L. Farris, and son, Bobby Tims.

Survivors: Daughter, Zada Bruce of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew; and a host of cousins and friends.

Howard R. Franklin
KELLER -- Howard R. "Pete" Franklin, 57, a wonderful husband and loving father of six, passed away Friday, July 4, 1997, at home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral:1 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Keller. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Tuesday in Kensett Cemetery in Kensett, Ark. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst.

Pallbearers: Jim Beckman, Norman Hardee, Mike Birmingham, Jim Hensley, Chuck Dickinson, Hector Gonzales, Bill Agerton, Lee Bauwens and Henry Jarvis.

Mr. Franklin was born July 18, 1939, in Kensett, son of Earion and Lila Franklin, who preceded him in death. He graduated from North Little Rock High School and attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He was an Air Force veteran. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Keller.

For more than 20 years, Howard worked for Beckman Construction Co. in Fort Worth, where he was highly respected by his co-workers, business associates, friends and neighbors. He was vice president of Beckman Construction Company. To all who met him, he was a man of wisdom, patience and understanding and truly a great listener.

Survivors: Wife, Fay A. Franklin of Keller; daughter, Anna Franklin of Arlington; son, Tom Franklin of Fort Worth; stepchildren, who adored him and respected his guidance for 29 years, Sheree Castaneda and husband, Dan of Pasadena, Julie Barton and husband, David of Ball Ground, Ga.; Randall Houghlin of Keller and Jeff Houglin and wife, Connie of North Richland Hills; sisters, Linda Baker of Hobart, Ind., and Martha Sheridan of North Bend, Ore.; brother, Gilbert Franklin of North Little Rock, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Karen and Derek Castaneda, Jonathan, Adam and Will Barton and Kelly and Alison Houghlin; and many loving friends, neighnbors and co- workers at Beckman Construction Co..

GRANBURY -- Gaston Benjamin Garrett, 70, retired employee after 20 years at Bell Helicopter Textron, died Friday, July 4, 1997, at his Granbury residence.

Funeral:10 a.m. Tuesday at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury. Burial: Holly Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Garrett was born July 25, 1926, in Hall Summit, La., and had been a Granbury resident since 1942. He also worked for General Dynamics for 18 years. He received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Corpus Christi. Mr. Garrett was a member of Acton Baptist Church.

Survivors: Wife, Charlotte Ann Garrett of Granbury; son, Gaston Benjamin Garrett Jr. of White Deer; daughters, Pamela Ann Jones of Cleburne, Karen Brown and Molly Lee Willsher, both of Granbury, and Rebecca Sue Strain of Honolulu, Hawaii; brothers, Hass Lamar Garrett and Wiley Teer Garrett, both of Hall Summit, Richard Ray Garrett of Bossier City, La., Davy Jones Garrett of Haughton, La., and Walter Eugene Garrett of Stonewall, La.; and 15 grandchildren.

FORT WORTH -- Virginia Faye "Jenny" Goddard, 80, a retired Kings Candy supervisor, died Friday, July 4, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Graveside service: 11 a.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.

Virginia Goddard was born May 23, 1917, in Texas. She worked as a supervisor for Kings Candy until her retirement in 1975. Following this, she continued to hand-make bows for Texas Packaging.

Ms. Gordon was preceded in death by her husband, Claude F. Goddard on Feb. 14, 1977.

Survivors: Son, Gordon L. Price of Mingus; daughter, Beverly Sue Muggli of Everman; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mary Merle Graham
EASTLAND -- Mary Merle Graham, 78, formerly of Fort Worth, died Thursday, July 3, 1997, at an Eastland hospital.

Funeral:2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Eastland. Burial: Eastland City Cemetery. Visitation: 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland.

Mrs. Graham was born Aug. 13, 1918, in Brownwood to Ancel Charles and Ora Mae (Peden) Norton. She grew up there and worked as a dental assistant for several years. She married Lee Graham July 3, 1939, in Cisco. They lived in Laredo and Fort Worth, before moving to Eastland in 1948. She worked for Anderson Clothing, the local draft board, as a teacher's aide, and the principal's office, before retiring in 1984 from Eastland Independent School District. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eastland, where she taught pre-school Sunday school and helped in the nursery for many years. She enjoyed children and reading.

Survivors: Husband, Lee Graham of Eastland; daughter, Rebecca Cox of Fairway, Kan.; son, Gary Graham of Eastland; granddaughter, Cara Hoyt; and great-grandson, Aaron Hoyt, both of Austin; brother, Charles Ancel Jr. of Abilene; and sisters, Ruby Blevins of Brownfield and Grace Graham of Denton.

Kay L. Halley was born Nov. 20, 1955, in Fort Campbell, Ky.

She had been Grand Prairie resident for eight years and a former resident of Tallahassee, Fla. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church.

Survivors: Husband, Paul Halley of Grand Prairie; daughters, Stephanie Halley and Melanie Halley, both of Grand Prairie; father, James Keeley of Carrollton; mother, Elizabeth Keeley of Tampa, Fla.; brother, James Keeley of Harrisonburg, Va.; and aunt, Pat Salsbury of Honolulu.

HALTOM CITY -- Robert D. Hendry, 93, a retired machinist, died Friday, July 4, 1997, at a Bedford hospital.

Robert D. Hendry was born Oct. 15, 1903, in Cushman, Ark.

He retired from General Dynamics after 27 years and was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 49 years.

Survivors: Wife of 74 years, Eula Hendry of Haltom City; sons and daughter- in-law, Ken and Pat Hendry of North Richland Hills; grandchildren, Chris Hendry and Vicki Wallace; two great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
