Mr. Westmoreland
James Howard Westmoreland, 69, of Proctor, died Sept. 2, 2004 in the Scott and White Medical Center in Temple. Funeral services were held Sept. 5 in the Hall and Sons Funeral Chapel with burial following in Siloam Cemetery near Lamkin.
He was born Dec. 30, 1934 in Erath County near Dublin, the son of Jess and May Bell Watson Westmoreland. He was married to Melba Simpson on July 30, 1954
Mr. Westmoreland was a retired data analyzer for CSI Productions, an oil field producing company. He was a businessman in the Proctor community and had been a resident for 23 years, moving from Ft. Stockton. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Melba; two daughters, Debra Janson and husband Clifton and Linda Holmes and husband Melvin, both of Proctor; four grandchildren, William Janson, Crystal Janson, Jessica Holmes, Abnea Holmes; four great-grandchildren, Trendon Morin, Christian Holmes, Denise Garza and Earein Garza.

Richard Sidney Smith, 84, died Sept. 5, 2004 at Forest Oaks Nursing Home in Hamilton. Memorial services will be Sept. 13, at 10 a.m. in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton with Pastor Russell Nebhut officiating.
Mr. Smith was cremated and his daughter will be taking his ashes to Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado to join his wife, Sibyl who died in June of 2004.
He was born Oct. 17, 1919, the son of Dan and Clara Birdie Phears-Smith in Comanche County, Texas.
He was married to Georgia Sibyl Smith on Dec 12, 1940 in Hamilton. In 1941 -1942 he was employed in Brownwood, Texas at a service station and garage. He served in the United States Army Air Force attending technical schools at Amarillo Air Field, Amarillo and the Ford Motor Company Airplane School on the Liberator Bombera in Michigan.
Being stationed in Tonapah, Nevada. He was a Crew Chief Supervisor overseeing the repair of aircraft engines and mechanical working of the aircraft assisting pilots in correction of defects during flight. His military records were lost for a period of time so he was not able to go overseas with his company. He flew many trips to England with pilot. This did not qualify him however for the Veterans of Foreign Wars because they did not stay 100 hours in England. He is a member of the American Legion.
From 1947 to 1951 he was employed in Hamilton at a gas station and garage. He, also, attended Hamilton Vocational School in Auto Mechanics.
In 1951 Mr. and Mrs. Smith and their four year old daughter, Sharon moved to Espanola, New Mexico where Richard was employed at Hunter Motor Company.
Later, after retiring from the Ford dealership he was employed at Los Alamos National Laboratories in maintaining snow removal equipment and at Espanola Hospital in the maintenance department and he worked part time at a local car wash. For many years he owned and operated Dick Smith Auto Repair.
In 1982 Richard and Sibyl moved back to Hamilton where Dick sold tomatoes and other vegetables from his garden and pecans from his pecan trees, until he and Sibyl entered Forest Oaks Nursing Home in 2003.
He played in the Western Acesâ band in Espanola and with Tillie & The Boys Band and with the The Westernaires at many functions around Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Sibyl Faye Smith-Smith; his parents; two older half brothers; five older half sisters; one older sister; one younger brother; two half-nephews and one half niece.
Survivors include his daughter, Sharon A. Smith-Green-Wikholm of Hamilton; four grandsons, Shawn A. Green and Sloan A. Green of Colorado; Saul A. Green of Arkansas and Shay A. Green of Utah; six great-grandsons, Zachary A. Green, Benjamin F. Green and Hayden S. Green of Colorado, Avery S. Green, Jonah Sidney Green (Richard’s namesake) and Adison M. Green of Arkansas; two great-granddaughters, Amber S. Green of Utah and Jordanne M. Green of Arkansas; one sister, Lillie Pearl Smith-Kincheloe-Kelly of Western Hills Nursing Home in Comanche; one half-nephew; four half-nieces; one nephew and three nieces.

Mrs. Christian
Lucie Mae Wilson Christian, 85, died Sept. 3, 2004 in Fort Worth. Funeral services were held Sept. 5 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton with Rev. Lawrence Mulloy officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery.
She was born March 5, 1919 in Coryell County, the daughter of Jasper Carroll Wilson and Emma Rosa Belle Wilhelm Wilson.
Mrs. Christian was the salutatorian of her 1936 graduating class at Hico. She was married to George W. Lowery on Oct. 2, 1937. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1977.
From the time she was a young woman she and her husband owned and operated their own businesses; service stations, grocery stores, and a fast food restaurant. At the fast food restaurant she astounded all who watched as she remembered customer’s names, faces, and exactly what they wanted on their orders. She never wrote anything down, and she seldom made an error.
Widowed at the age of 58, she completed her training in accounting at Angelo State University and accepted a position in a locally owned drug store in San Angelo. In 1981 and 1982 she worked for the State’s senior citizen’s program in job placement.
She lived in San Angelo from 1946 to 1982. She retired in 1982 to marry her childhood sweetheart T. C. Christian on July 27, 1982. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2004. They moved to Fort Worth to make their home. When T. C. retired from the Fort Worth Independent School District, they returned to Hamilton.
Mrs. Christian enjoyed decorating, sewing, crocheting, gardening, travel, piecing quilts, cooking and her family. As a child, she played the guitar while her father played (through his own patented invention) the piano, French harp, and drums.
She was a thoughtful friend, offering transportation to those that couldn’t drive, taking food to church members who couldn’t attend the Sunday dinners, and sending cards and making calls of encouragement to those who were ill or suffered a loss. She could always be counted on to make her chocolate pie when one of her kids called and said they were coming for a visit.
Before T. C.’s illness, they both sang in the church choir. During Mae’s illness she said T. C. might not volunteer, but if he were asked to do so, he would be singing in the heavenly choir.
Survivors include three children and their spouses, Laverne and Melvin Hudson of Arlington, George and Becky Lowery of Justin and Lee and JoBeth Lowery of San Angelo; two step-sons David Christian and his wife Beverly of Benbrook and Don Ray Christian of Killeen; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Myrtle Campbell of New Braunfels as well as a number of cousins, nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, William, A. W. (Tex), and Charles Wilson.

Willie Frank Earls Jr. “Jiggs’, 73, died at his home in Liberty, on Oct. 14, 2004. Funeral services were held on Oct. 16 at Allison Funeral with the Reverend Tony Hines officiating. Burial followed in the Cooke Memorial Cemetery in Liberty.
He was born on July 4, 1931, in Hamilton, the son of Willie Frank Earls, Sr., and Ellie Frances Catron Earls.
He was married to Margaret Gregory on Dec. 4, 1953. Mr. Earls was a heavy equipment operator and a construction worker. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the V.F.W. Post # 5621 and he enjoyed old movies, fishing, and his war buddies at the V.F.W. Post 5621.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret G. Earls; a son, Ricky Lynn Earls of Hull; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Ann and Sid Haley of Liberty; granddaughters, Alicia and Ryan Faerber, Ashley Fore, Danielle and Kevin Frederick, Mirinda Haley and Valerie Baker and two great grandsons, Noah Candelier and Ethan Fore

Exa Dell Roberts, 98, of Star, died Oct. 20, 2004 at Good Samaritan Village in Hobbs, NM. Graveside services were held Oct. 22 at Hurst Ranch Cemetery.
She was born Jan. 13, 1906 in Pendletonville and was married to Jacob David Roberts on Oct. 19, 1935. She was the last surviving of ten children.
Mrs. Roberts was a Methodist by faith and she loved pets.
Survivors include her nephew, James Roberts of Gladewater and nieces, Helen Shockley and Judy Duke of Hobbs, NM. And Sarah Kios of Irving.

Dorothy Pearl Cantrell Martin, 84, died at Town East Estates in Whitney Sunday evening. Funeral service were held on Oct. 27 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marvin Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
Mrs. Martin was born February 5, 1919 at Duncan, Okla., the daughter of the late Ernest Paul and Minnie Gregory Cantrell.
She was married to Omer Martin in Hamilton in 1935. He preceded her in death in October of 1990.
Mrs. Martin was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker and worked cooking in the cafés in Hamilton to help her family. She was a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include her six children Richard E. Martin of Proctor, James E. Martin of Hamilton, Wayne Martin of Whitney, Jerry Martin of Beaumont, Larry Martin of Stephenville and Bobby Martin of Arlington; seventeen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Mike Martin and Kenneth Martin.
Pallbearers were Keith Martin, Phillip Martin, Bobby Martin Sr., Bobby Martin Jr. Wayne Martin and Larry Martin.

Mr. Allen
Dalton Melvin Allen, 84, died at Olin Teague VA Center at 1:19 a.m. on Oct. 24, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 27 in the Evant Church of Christ.
Mr. Allen served his country with honor in the United States Air Force. He achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. Master Sergeant
Mr. Allen first a flight engineer on the B-17 bomber. Then throughout his military career he was certified to fly the most powerful aircrafts of the era. He was assigned to many duty stations all over the world and gave his service through World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietname War.
After retiring from the Air Force, Melvin began preaching the gospel full time. He ministered to many congregations throughout Texas. He retired from preaching because of his health, but never stopped teaching God's word to anyone who would lend an ear.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen have lived in Evant for the last 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dalton Mathis Allen; his mother, Suzie Margaret Calmes; sisters, Bessie Mae, Cleo, Agnes and Beatrice.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lorene E. Hill-Allen, of Evant; two children, Sheryal Lynnette Garrity and her husband Michael F. Garrity of Evant and David Melvin Allen and his wife Linda of Eddy, Texas; six granddaughters and their husbands and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Lou of Wichita Falls, Margaret Johnson and her husband Roland of Abilene.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Glover, Bobby Buntin, David Scott, Carlos Santigao, Zachary Buntin and Colton Buntin.

Edith Lillian Horner, 90, died Oct. 19, 2004 at Hamilton. Funeral services were held at Oct. 22 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Chris Frizzell, Dick Stovall and George Tolbert officiating. Burial followed in Indian Gap Cemetery at Indian Gap.
Mrs. Horner was born October 31, 1913 in Dallas County, the daughter of Walter and Bell Lemon Stewart.
She was married to Ernest Lee Horner on Dec. 23, 1929 at Sidney. She was a devoted and loving companion and helpmate to her husband who preceded her in death on September 1, 1998.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Park Heights Church of Christ where she helped in whatever capacity that was needed.
Survivors include a son, Glen Horner and wife Betty of Hamilton; a daughter-in-law, Lind Horner of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Bobby Horner, Deborah Miller, Shawn Horner, Sharla Bass; four great-grandchildren, Jerod Horner, Megan Horner, Betsy Miller and Aubree Bass; two sisters, Mildred Burns of Hamilton and Juanita Partin of Priddy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Ray Horner; a sister, Elsie Poston and a brother, Marvin Stewart.
Pallbearers were Pete Jordan, Gene Payne, Dennis Ensor, Jim Adams, Billy Cole and Jerry Moser.

Gladys Magdaline (Murrah) Smith, 93, died Oct. 23 at Gatesville. Funeral services were held Oct. 25 in the Evant Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Bonnet officiating. Burial followed in Bee House Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born April 11, 1911 in Bell County, the daughter of Jim and Catherine Dickerson Murrah.
She was married to Jessie James (Jim) Smith on November 28, 1928 at Gatesville.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She drove a school bus and helped Jim deliver the mail on a rural route for forty-two years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Evant.
She is preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Smith of Evant; three children, (J.W.) James Wendell Smith of Clifton; Gladys Allfaye (Faye) Blakley of Pearl and Tommy W. Smith of Hico; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Lorraine Murrah of Belton.
Pallbearers were Lyndell Smith, Jim Ed Smith, Leon Smith, Ron McIntire, Joe Blakley and Mike Kellner.

Pauline Minnie Annie Kuklies, 81, died Oct. 21, 2004 at Clifton. Funeral services were held Oct. 25 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Russell Nebhut officiating with burial following in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Kuklies was born August 25, 1923 in Priddy, the daughter of August and Anna Marie Rapp Senger.
She was married to Robert Edward Kuklies on April 20, 1946 in Hamilton. He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 1990. Mrs. Kuklies was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She worked in a café in Hamilton until it closed then she worked for many years attending the needs of the elderly in the nursing homes. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two children, Robert Kuklies and his wife Cecilia of Eddy and Wilma Gaydos and her husband August of Lometa; one sister, Helen Tischler of Winters and one brother, Rudy Senger of Hamilton.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister and four brothers.
Pallbearers were Kenneth McNew, Mike Kuklies, Russell Kuklies, David Senger, Rodney Senger and Herman Senger.
