Alizabeth Love
Alizabeth Pelham Love, 15, of Lorena died Sunday May 18, 2003 at a local hospital. A celebration of her life will be 7:00 pm Wednesday May 21st at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel at 4520 Bosque Blvd. with Jason Patterson officiating.
Alizabeth was born June 19, 1988 in Denton to James L. Love Jr. and Melanie Schleeter. She was a cherished friend at Lorena High School and beloved daughter and granddaughter of the family.
She was involved in school with student government and FCCLA, but truly loved marching band and jazz band. Alizabeth excelled at so many things, but her passion was architecture and interior design.
She loved to tour houses and buildings, and to figure out how things were built. Alizabeth loved to make origami folded-paper animals and figures, and loved to sew and construct things with fabrics. She was a great cook, and won top prizes for her cakes at the FCCLA country stores. She will be missed by everyone she knew, and is irreplaceable in our hearts.
She is survived by her father, James Love Jr. of Lorena, Texas; mother Melanie McCalmont and husband Paul of Lorena, Texas; brothers, Jeb Love and Gavin McCalmont of Lorena, Jimmy Love of New Orleans, Louisiana and Justin Love of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Kelly Matsushima and husband Grant of Lake Elsinore, California; grandparents, Jim and Ella Love of Goehner, Nebraska, Karen Schleeter of Lorena and Norris Schleeter of Port St. Lucie, Florida; uncles, Norris Schleeter of Littleton, Colorado , Michael Schleeter of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Albert Love and wife Dee of Beaver Crossing, Nebraska and Kelly Love and wife Wendy of Goehner, Nebraska; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special family friends, Jonetta Meek and son Preston of China Spring, Texas and her special friend Matt Nicoletti of Lorena, Texas and many other friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Lorena High School Band at P.O. Box 97 Lorena, TX 76655 Attn: Greg Vaughn in memory of Alizabeth Love.

Ruth Bergendahl
Ruth Evelyn Bergendahl, 53, of Woodway, passed away Tuesday night, May 6, 2003, in a Waco hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Driftwood Cemetery near Austin. Visitation will be Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.
Ruth was born December 25, 1949, in San Benito, to Clifford and Rose (Whisenant) Bergendahl. She was a Catholic. Her parents preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sister, Dorothea Jackson, and a brother, John Bergendahl, both of Woodway.
The family especially thanks Dr. Michael Stones for the excellent care he gave to our sister.

Sara Bland
Sara Elizabeth Bland, 15, and a bright light in hundreds of lives, passed away Wednesday, May 21 from injuries sustained in a car accident.
Sara was born October 17, 1987 in Waco. Bright from birth, Sara started preschool at age 3 and achieved many scholastic awards and milestones throughout her life. Sara was a sophomore at Lorena High School, where she was in the top 10% of her class.
She excelled in world history and spoke German with a beautiful accent. She was also a member of numerous award-winning chapters, teams, and committees at school.
During the summer of 2002, Sara was awarded a scholarship to attend a summer program at the prestigious 225-year-old Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. In addition to receiving special honors through academic achievements, Sara gave unselfishly of herself by volunteering with her church youth group, assisting the elderly at nursing homes, helping a neighbor in need with refurbishing her home, and assisting at this year's Special Olympics for athletes with disabilities.
Sara is survived by her parents, Randy Bland of China Spring, and Dorothy Dolezel Bland of Lorena. She is also survived by her grandparents Charlie and Alma Ruth Dolezel of Mooreville; aunts Doris Harris and Dorothy Hall of Waco, Darlene Wall and her husband Dr. James Wall of Houston, and uncle Robert Bland of Florida; aunt Elsie Beseda and her husband Henry of Eddy, and uncle Robert Dolezel and his wife Yvonne of Heidenhammer;great aunt, Lentsy Doran of Waco; in addition to numerous family members and special friends who loved her dearly. Sara was preceded in death by her grandparents James C. Bland and Lillian Wood Bland.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard in Waco. A memorial videotape of her life especially prepared by OakCrest Funeral Home will be shown during the visitation.
A celebration of Sara's life will be held Saturday, May 24 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Lorena, with burial to follow at Waco Memorial Park.
A special memorial scholarship fund is being established in Sara's name for those who wish to contribute and continue her legacy of academic excellence. All contributions may be sent to Lorena High School at P.O. Box 99 Lorena, TX 76655.

Margaret Patterson
Margaret Fayne Bond Patterson, 85, of Waco, Texas, passed away early Friday morning, May 30, 2003, at Providence Hospital of Waco.
SERVICES: Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at OakCrest Funeral Home chapel with Rev. James Adams and Rev. Drew Wilson officiating. OakCrest Funeral Home is located right across the street from the Heart of Texas Fair Complex.
Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Freestone County.
VISITATION: Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
PERSONAL LIFE: Margaret was born May 28, 1918, in Freestone County to John Henry Bond and Letha Belle (Gilliam) Bond. She was a homemaker, school teacher and poet, and her poetry received many state and national awards.
Margaret taught school on Guam and in Louisiana. She was a member of Park Lake Baptist Church.
She married William Monroe Patterson in Houston on July 10, 1948, and this year they would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by her husband, Bill; a son, John William Patterson of Wyandotte, Michigan; a daughter, Margaret Susan Patterson-Hawkins of Waco; grandsons, Justin Patterson and Dusty Patterson, both of Wyandotte; granddaughters, Amy Christine Masters of Austin, Margaret Leighann Villines of Harlingen, and Pamela Patterson of Wyandotte; great-grandsons, Britt Monroe Villines and Samuel Turner Villines of Harlingen, and Zack Masters of Austin; and sister, Farah Chloe Holmes of Waco.
PALLBEARERS: Pallbearers will be the deacons of Park Lake Baptist Church.
MEMORIALS: Memorials can be made to the Commission for the Blind.

Martis Wayne (Marty) Ferrill
Martis Wayne (Marty) Ferrill, 63, of Elm Mott, Texas, passed away Friday morning, May 30, 2003, at Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas.
SERVICES: Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, at White Rock Cemetery in Ross, Texas with the Rev. Brian Pendleton, chaplain with Providence Hospice, officiating.
Directions to White Rock Cemetery in Ross: Take I-35 North from Waco, exit on Ross exit, and go over I-35. Keep going straight and veer left at the Y, then go straight to a grocery store. Go on the road just to the left of the store and it leads to White Rock Cemetery.
VISITATION: Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque (Right across the street from the Heart of Texas Fair Complex). A memorial video of his life especially prepared by OakCrest Funeral Home will be shown during visitation.
PERSONAL LIFE: Marty was born Nov. 6, 1939, in Elm Mott to Everett and Nola (Hurst) Ferrill. He went to school in Elm Mott and joined the Navy serving on the USS Lexington for four years. He worked for the Schlitz Distributorship until 1970.
Marty owned and operated service stations in Bellmead and Elm Mott. He operated the Continental Cowboy for about 16 years. He was a rancher in and around Ross and Leroy for 33 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Edna Harless, and three brothers, Mack Ferrill, Freddie Ferrill and Everett Ray Ferrill.
SURVIVORS: Marty is survived by: Three daughters, Kimberly Thompson of McGregor, Melinda Willis of Waco, and Cindy Willcutt and husband Mike of Willits, California,
Son, Jody Ferrill of Ukiah, California; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild;
Two brothers, Paul C. Ferrill and wife Joyce of China Spring, and Johnny Ferrill and wife Sharon of Elm Mott;
Three sisters, Mella Terry and husband W.A., Mildred Honeycutt and husband Dwain of Waco, Ruby Haddock and husband Bob of Moody; and many nieces and nephews.
PALLBEARERS: Pallbearers will be Randy Turnmire, Bud Price, Mark Hall, Scott Cooney, Rufus Lewis, Charles Pratt, and Frankie Lacina.
MEMORIALS: Memorials can be made to Providence Hospice, 4830 Lakewood Drive, Suite 5, Waco, TX 76710.
The children's playroom will be open during visitation.

Edith Evelyn Hawkins
Edith Evelyn Hawkins, 66, of Waco died Friday, August 15, 2003 at a local hospital. Services are 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with Greg Moore and Rev. Stone officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday afternoon from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Edith was born on April 1, 1937 in Waco to R.C. and Flora (McCauley) Fowlkes. She graduated from Waco High then attended MCC and several tax schools. Edith was a quality control technician at Data-Point. She was employed by several different insurance companies and owned her own bookkeeping and tax service. Edith was a very involved mother in her children?s and other children?s lives. She was active in PTA, Little League, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Band Booster, and loved Waco High till the day she died.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Miller and husband David of Waco; sons, Robert Dedeluk and wife Sandy of Waco, Charles Wallace and Wife Sylvia of Waco, Jeffrey Hawkins of Eddy and James Hawkins and wife Barbara of Ivyland, PN; grandsons, Charles Wallace Jr., Daniel Dedeluk, Robert David Miller, Jon-Michael Wallace; granddaughters, Christine Miller, Sabrina, Mollie and Rachael Hawkins; great-granddaughters, Andrea Pena and Juliet Dedeluk; uncles, Paul McCauley of Waco, Clifton McCauley of San Antonio; and several cousins and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers will be John Bravo, Isidore Lopez, Jr, David Miller, David Huerta, Robert David Miller and William Attaway.
Honorary Pallbearers will be John Harvey, Paul McCauley, Robert Hawkins and Clifton McCauley.

Dorothy Santo Wolfe
Dorothy Santo Wolfe, 69, of Hewitt, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2003, in a local hospital.
SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. Darrel Phillips will officiate.
VISITATION: Visitation with the family will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.
PERSONAL LIFE: Dorothy was born February 4, 1934, in Speegleville to William and Lucille (Mills) Santo. She was retired as an emergency room registration clerk at Hillcrest Hospital. She was a member of Speegleville United Methodist Church.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Walker of Hewitt, and Roxie Friesen and husband John of Hewitt; sister, Ann Menefee and her husband Bob of Crawford, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
THANKS: The family especially thanks the nursing staff and doctors on 6 East at Scott & White Hospital for their loving care of our mother.
MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to Speegleville United Methodist Church, 606 Willow Grove Rd., Waco, TX 76712.

Rosa Vidal
Rosa Cano Vidal, 78, of Waco, died Saturday, August 9, 2003, at home. Cremation was arranged through OakCrest Funeral Home. The family will have memorial services later at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth.
Born March 23, 1925, in Abilene to Alberto and Eutimia (Ogas) Cano, Rosa had lived in Waco for the past 15 years. She was a retired seamstress. She was preceded in death by a sister, Elvia Vasquez.
She was survived by four sons, Elias, Ernest, Manuel, and Jesse Vidal, of Fort Worth; daughter, Christina Ledesma of Waco; brother, Joe Cano of Fort Worth; sisters, Jane Aguilar, Nancy Montoya, Amelia Torres, and Josephine Molina, of Fort Worth; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Robert F. Lilly
Robert F. Lilly, age 48, former Waco resident, died in Houston Saturday night, August 3, 2003. Arrangements pending with OakCrest Funeral Home of Waco.

Cecil Ashley
Cecil Kenneth Ashley
Cecil (Kenneth) Ashley, 70 of Eddy died Wednesday July 30, 2003 after a lengthy illness. Masonic Graveside Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday in the Eddy Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel at 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Kenneth was born on May 19, 1933 in Bruceville to Ervin and Vonnie Lee (Phillips) Ashley. He lost his parents at and early age and was raised by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. I.M. Phillips. Kenneth married the love of his life Jo Ann Simmons. He graduated from Bruceville-Eddy high school and served four years in the U.S. Navy. After returning home from the Navy he went to work for the General Tire and Rubber Company and had worked there for the past 46 years. He was also a member of the Bruceville Baptist Church, Herring Lodge and the Eddy Lodge.
He is survived by his wife Jo Ann of Eddy; daughter, Shannon Tackett and husband David of St. Paul; son, Jeff Ashley and wife Rena? of Valley Mills; beloved grandchildren, Kobi Lynn Ashley and Jason Stevens; sisters, Betty Grisham of Eddy, Bobbie Medlin and husband Purdis of Lorena and Retha Gaines and husband Bill of Cedar Park; step-mother Naomi Bell of Waco and a host of many other relatives and friends.
Kenneth loved being with family, friends and fishing in Port Aransas, Texas. He will be greatly missed by all.
