Susan Hanabury

Susan Hanabury, 57, of Denton died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at Lake Forest Good Samaritan Village.

She was born Dec. 13, 1943 in San Antonio.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Blue Bonnet Cemetery in Colleyville. Bill DeBerry will officiate.

Survivors include her stepfather, Roy Gordon of Denton, and her guardian, Carol Hopson of Arlington.

DeBerry Funeral Directors of Denton is in charge of arrangements.

Ricardo Paredes

Ricardo Paredes, 37, of Denton died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth.

He was born Sept. 19, 1964 in Morelita, Guerrero, Mexico. On Feb. 8, 1993 he married Maria Placida de la Rosa C. in Morelita, Guerrero, Mexico.

A Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Home. Deacon Emilio "Popo" Gonzalez will officiate. Burial will be in Panteon Municipal de Morelita, Guerrero, Mexico.

Survivors include his wife of Denton; his parents, Santos and Albertana Paredes of Guerrero, Mexico; three daughters, Maria Lidia Paredes, Brenda Paredes and Myra Paredes, all of Denton; four sons, Ricardo Paredes, Rangel Paredes, Alberto Paredes and Eric Paredes, all of Denton; one sister, Carolina Paredes of Mexico; and four brothers, Andres Paredes and Antonio Paredes, both of Mexico and Santos Paredes and Alsindo Paredes, both of Denton.

Willie J. Cuffman

Gainesville – Willie James Cuffman, 65, of Gainesville died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.

He was born June 22, 1936, in Napa, Calif., to William W. and Bess E. Brooks Cuffman. He graduated from Napa High School.

Mr. Cuffman was a star route mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was active in the AARP, YMCA, Masonic Lodge, Teamsters Union and the Native Sons of the Golden West.

He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Argyle. DeBerry Funeral Directors of Denton is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include one daughter, Terri Gibson of Pensacola, Fla.; one son, Daniel James Wilson of Gainesville; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Jean Franklin

Haltom City – Jean Franklin, 68, of Haltom City died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at her home. She was born on Nov. 7, 1932 in Denton, to Rev. Paul and Elsie Sizemore.

A service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the chapel of Wednesday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include her husband, Ben Franklin of Haltom City; two daughters, Lisa Jean Franklin of Fort Worth and Janie Diane Morris of Azle; her twin sister, Bennie Jane Davis of Denton; two sisters, Dorris Maggard of Denton and Jewelle Hardaway of Sanger; one brother, Harvey Sizemore of Denton; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Margaret V. Hermann

Sanger – Margaret Verval Hermann, 76, of Sanger, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 19, 1925 in Manteno, Ill. She was a homemaker.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the chapel of Coker Funeral Home in Sanger. John Payne will officiate. Burial will be in Sanger Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Henry Hermann of Sanger; two daughters, Melissa Whatley of Sanger and Deborah Kinniston of Riverside, Calif.; three sons, William A. Hermann of San Diego, Calif., Joseph Matthew Hermann of Alsip, Ill., and Daniel Ira Hermann of Sanger; one sister, Genevive Douglass of Denton; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Rosie M. Shelton

Pilot Point – Rosie Mae Shelton, 82, of Pilot Point died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Denton Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Nov. 18, 1918 in Soper, Okla.

Mrs. Shelton worked with the public until the age of 80.

She was Baptist.

A service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, at Calvary Baptist Church, Pilot Point. The Rev. Luther Slay will officiate. Entombment will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Crestview Memorial Park, Wichita Falls. Slay Memorial Funeral Center of Aubrey is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, J.A. Shelton; two daughters, Neoma Busby of Flower Mound and JoAnn Heuman of Aubrey; one son, Billy McGarry of Burkburnett; five sisters, Annie Stobley of Midwest City, Okla., Josie Messick of Fort Worth, Mattie Ellis of Burkburnett, Melba Sells of Dallas, and Marie Kidd of Fort Worth; one brother, Donald Tonubbee of Denison; and 18 grandchildren.

Edith H. Francis

Grapevine – Edith Hawk Francis, 88, of Grapevine, formerly of Denton, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 31, 1913, in Lake Dallas. She was a member of the Lake Cities Church of Christ in Grapevine.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Welch Street Church of Christ in Denton. Terry Collins will officiate. Burial will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Denton.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 16, at DeBerry Funeral Directors, Denton.

Survivors include one son, John Francis of Grapevine; two brothers, Cecil Hawk and Truman Hawk, both of Denton; three sisters, Inez Howard of Corinth, Dorothy Hawk of Denton and Fayma Boysen of Gainesville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Betty Sue Scrivner

Argyle – Betty Sue Scrivner, 59, of Argyle died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, as a result of an automobile accident near Stephenville.

She was born Jan. 14, 1942, in Brownfield, to Arvel and Sarah Ellyson Adams. In 1960 she married Thurman Lee Scrivner in Mullen.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Justin.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Lakeland Baptist Church in Lewisville. Dr. Ben Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in Justin Cemetery, Justin.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville.

Memorials may be made to the Katlynn Joy Sexton Education Fund, c/o Justin State Bank, 412 S. FM 156, Justin, Texas 76247.

Survivors include her husband of Argyle; one son, Timothy Lee Scrivner of Denton; and one granddaughter. Her daughter, Amanda Gail Sexton, died as a result of the same auto accident.

Amanda G. Sexton

Argyle – Amanda Gail Sexton, 24, of Argyle died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at Harris Medical Center in Fort Worth, as a result of an automobile accident.

She was born May 4, 1977, in San Antonio, to Thurman Lee and Betty Sue Adams Scrivner. On March 15, 1997, she married Toby Michael Sexton in Justin.

She was a member of Southmont Baptist Church in Denton.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Lakeland Baptist Church in Lewisville. Dr. Ben Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in Justin Cemetery, Justin.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville.

Memorials may be made to the Katlynn Joy Sexton Education Fund, c/o Justin State Bank, 412 S. FM 156, Justin, Texas 76247.

Survivors include her husband of Argyle; one daughter, Katlynn Joy Sexton of Argyle; her father of Argyle; and one brother, Timothy Lee Scrivner of Denton. Her mother died as a result of the same auto accident.

Ginger Snapp

Waco – Ginger Snapp, 44, of Waco died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, in a local hospital.

She was born July 28, 1957 in McKinney. She was a resident of Farmersville from 1965 to 1972. In 1975 she graduated from Midway High School, and in 1979 she graduated with a degree in education from Baylor University.

Ms. Snapp taught school at Crestview Elementary and was currently teaching at Tennyson Middle School.

She attended Bethel Temple Assembly of God in Hewitt.

A memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, in the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco. The Rev. R. L. Whitworth will officiate.

Visitation will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the funeral home.

Survivors include her parents Joe and Jerrie Snapp of Waco; one sister, Cindy Reese of Denton; and two brothers, Bill Snapp of Howe and John Snapp of Lorena.

Memorials may be made to the Lone Star Chapter of Multiple Sclerosis Society, 8111 N. Stadium Dr., Suite 100, Houston, Texas 77054.

Albert E. Harpool

Albert E. Harpool, 81, of Denton died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at Good Samaritan Health Care.

He was born Jan. 27, 1920 in Hebron, to R.T. Harpool Sr. and Josephine Solomon Harpool. On May 30, 1946 he married Opal Hadley in the Little Chapel-in-the-Woods in Denton. He served in World War II as a staff sergeant of the Army Air Corps. He was a graduate of Denton High School and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Denton County Volunteer Fire Department., a lifetime member of Knights of Pithias, a member of Denton Breakfast Optimist Club and both the Hitch n Pitch and Heart of Texas Winnebago Travel clubs. He was formerly the vice president of Harpool Seed Inc., and he served as a director of the Texas Association of Nurserymen for four years.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Schmitz-Floyd-Andersen Funeral Home.

Chapel services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Rick Svehla, Jimmy Winn Massey, Bobby Miller, Marshall Everett, Chuck Remley, and Dennis Smith.

Memorials may be made to Ann’s Haven Hospice or Denton Good Samaritan Village.

Survivors include his wife, Opal, of Denton; one daughter, Barbara and husband Harry Hall of Denton; two sons, Ralph and wife Denise of Sanger and Charles "Gig" and wife Kim of Lewisville; two brothers, Tom and wife Rebecca and W.S. "Pinky" and wife Rose, all of Denton; eight grandchildren, Terri Hall, Michelle Brown, Tiffany Erwin, Mark, Kyle and Kim Harpool, Lisa Arrington and Christy Manning; three great-grandchildren, Megan and Peyton Erwin and Kendall Brown; three nephews; and two nieces.

Chaynee Cooper

Decatur – Chaynee Malone Cooper, 4, daughter of Gary and Mika Cooper of Decatur, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at Dallas Children’s Hospital. She was born Feb. 5, 1997 in Fort Worth.

A service will be at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 18, at the First Baptist Church of Decatur. Gene Hadley will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Doyle Gaither, Mark Sledge, Shad Rhoten and Justin Cooper.

Survivors include her parents of Decatur; two brothers, Gage and Nash Cooper of Decatur; her grandparents, Mike and Pam Rhoten of Weatherford and Dr. Gary and Glenda Cooper of Granbury; and her great-grandparents, Hugh and Vaudine Cooper of Brock, Clinton and Johnnie Morgan of Weatherford and Herbert Jones of Granbury.

Mildred Ihnfeldt

Lewisville – Mildred L. Ihnfeldt, 94, of Lewisville died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, in Denton.

She was born Oct. 14, 1907, in Oklahoma to Marvin D. and Nancy Evelyn Kirkland Hamlin. In 1926 she married Carl Ihnfeldt in Lewisville. He died in 1977.

She was a member of Round Grove United Church.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. Dr. Byron S. Wells will officiate. Interment will follow in Round Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Oct. 18, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Ann’s Haven VNA Hospice, 216 W. Mulberry Street, Denton, Texas 76201.

Survivors include two daughters, Marie Patterson of Carrollton and Marcine Weger of Denton; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Faye Morriss

Collinsville – Charlie Faye Dillard Morriss, 77, of Collinsville, formerly of Bogata, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at Collinsville Care Center.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the First United Methodist Church of Bogata. Rev. Randy Newkirk will officiate. Burial will follow in Bogata Cemetery. Wood Funeral Home of Bogata is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the church following a 12:30 p.m. meal until service time.

She was born June 23, 1924, in Lewisville to Charlie and Maggie Ola Hasten Dillard. On June 21, 1941, she married Lynn Morriss. He died Aug. 9, 1990.

Mrs. Morriss had worked for Taylor Publishing Company.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bogata.

Survivors include two sons, Emery Morriss of Dallas and Larry Morriss of Athens; two daughters, Gloria Newkirk of Burkburnett and Judy Swiger of Kilgore; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Rhonda Steller, who died Aug. 29, 2001, and two grandchildren.

Hazel Whitney

Granbury – Hazel Lucille Whitney, 89, of Granbury, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at a Granbury nursing home.

Coker Funeral Home in Decatur.
