BRYAN — Graveside services for Fena Salvato, 96, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Deacon Bill Scamardo will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Calloway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mrs. Salvato died Monday in Bryan.

She was born in Burleson County. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Bryan. She was a Catholic.

Survivors include a son, Vince Salvato of Houston; a daughter, Mary Ann Johnson of Humble, Texas; and numerous nephews.

Horace B. Hurst
May 16, 1921 — Aug. 29, 2000

ROCKDALE — Graveside services for Horace B. Hurst, 79, of Rockdale are set for 10 a.m. Friday at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. The Rev. Paul Kethley of St. John’s United Methodist Church will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home of Rockdale.

Mr. Hurst died Tuesday in Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.

He was born in Amherst, Ohio. He was a chemical engineer with Alcoa for 58 years. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Hurst of Rockdale; three daughters and sons-in-law, Laura M. and Roger Boston of Bellaire, Texas, Frances J. and Gerald Lands of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Bonnie M. and Dennis Symank of Elm Mott, Texas; and five grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, Richards Memorial Hospital, Vista Care Hospice or Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library in Rockdale.

L. Christeen Campbell
Oct. 19, 1923 — Aug. 29, 2000

BRENHAM — Services for L. Christeen Campbell, 76, of Brenham are set for 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Industry, Texas. The Rev. Wallace Chappell and the Rev. Jim Harrell will officiate. Burial will be in Industry Methodist Cemetery in Industry.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. A devotional service will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Campbell was born in Bastrop, La., and attended Bastrop High School. She attended modeling school in Dallas in 1949. She worked as a secretary at the Community Guidance Center in San Antonio, taught Sunday school and was a member of Industry United Methodist Women Bertha Circle.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. James W. Campbell of Brenham; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Judy Campbell and Kim and Evelyn Campbell, all of Brenham; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and Ron Priesmeyer of Columbus, Texas, Karen Marlow of Brenham and Cynthia and Bill Roberts of Boerne, Texas; one brother, Lawayne Brown of Bastrop, La.; one sister, Martha Brown Keller of Bastrop, La.; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Tommy Earl Lee
Sept. 14, 1950 — Aug. 22, 2000

DICKINSON — Graveside services for Tommy Earl Lee, 49, of Dickinson, Texas, are set for 3 p.m. Friday at Sunnyside Cemetery in Calvert. The Rev. Nolan Hill III, evangelist of Apostolic Lighthouse Church of Texas City, will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.

Mr. Lee died Aug. 22 in Leslie, Mich.

He was born in Texas City, Texas. He was a wireman/electrician. He was a member of IBEW Local 716 in Houston.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Lee of Dickinson; two sons, Eric Lee and Chandler Thompson, both of Port Lavaca, Texas; two sisters, Diane Lee and Mary Locke, both of Calvert; his mother, Berta7 Lee of Calvert; 39 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Margaret Kenjura-Young
Jan. 31, 1922 — Aug. 30, 2000

BRENHAM — Services for Margaret Kenjura-Young, 78, of Brenham are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham. The Rev. David Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Brenham.

A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mrs. Young died Wednesday in Trinity Care Center in Brenham.

She was born in Richards, Texas.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bennie Kenjura.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence Young of Brenham; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bernard and Rose Kenjura and James and Charlene Kenjura, all of Brenham; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Charles Kramer of Odessa; a sister, Lucille Jordan of Waco; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley or Trinity Care Center.

Margaret Arlene Meek Billings
June 17, 1928 — Aug. 29, 2000

Private graveside services for Margaret Arlene Meek Billings, 72, of Bryan will be held at Nixon Cemetery in Nixon, Texas.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Calloway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.
Mrs. Billings died Tuesday in Bryan.

She was born in Bonnieview, Texas, and resided in the Brazos Valley for more than 30 years.

She graduated from Abilene Christian College. She was active in numerous youth organizations. She was a charter member of the Madison County Hospital Auxillary and had served as chairman of the Madison County Republican Party. She retired from Wells Fargo Bank.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Noel Billings.

Survivors include her son, Thom Billings of Austin; a daughter, Kathy McMahon of Bryan; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Rose Meek of San Antonio, and W.A. and Jo Ann Meek of Brownwood, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Jerry Wright of Kimberling City, Mo.; a brother-in-law and wife, James and Sue Billings of Victoria, a sister-in-law, Billie Mae Billings of Seguin, Texas; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, Gonzales Church of Christ, or Cherokee Home for Children.

Gloster Ervin Jefferson Jr.
March 6, 1950 — Aug. 26, 2000

Services for Gloster Ervin Jefferson Jr., 50, of College Station are set for 11 a.m.

Saturday at St. Mark’s Baptist Church in the Brushy community. The Rev. Charles Jefferson of Peaceful Rest Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be at Clayton cemetery in the Brushy community.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mr. Jefferson died Saturday at Southwood Nursing Home.

He was a lifelong resident of College Station and a member of St. Mark’s Baptist Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Rufus Jefferson of Tulsa, Okla., and Robert Franklin Jr. of Houston; three sisters, Mary Locke of Hugo, Okla., Patricia Ann Jones of Jacksonville, Fla., and Shelia Amos of College Station; his parents, Gloster Jefferson Sr. of College Station and Lillie B. Boose of Hugo.

Palmer F. Beverly
Oct. 22, 1910 — Aug. 31, 2000

MIXON, Texas — Graveside services for Palmer F. Beverly, 89, of Mixon are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Steep Hollow Cemetery. The Rev. Dale Suel of Steep Hollow Baptist Church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Beverly died Thursday in Jacksonville, Texas.

He was born in Alabama. He was in the grocery business. He was in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dixon Mills, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Beverly.

Survivors include three brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert S. and Oleta Beverly of Baytown, Texas, A.B. ‘Buddy’ and Marianne Beverly of San Antonio and Murphy T. and Trevia Beverly of Houston; and a sister-in-law, Estelle Beverly of Bryan.

Facundo Aldava

James Marion ‘Jim’ Hall III

HOUSTON — Services for James Marion “Jim” Hall III, 77, of Houston are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. The Rev. Jimmy Vandorn will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Hall was born in New Waverly, Texas. He served in the Army in World War II and was a retired survey engineer. He was a longtime resident of Houston.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Hall of Houston; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jeanette and Butch Compte of Houston, Lynn and Gary Taylor of Humble and Marion Hall of San Antonio; two brothers, Albert Hall of Arlington, Texas, and Robert Hall of Houston; a sister, Christine Morris of Houston; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Arnold Lynn Peterson
Jan. 16, 1958 — Aug. 29, 2000

WELLBORN — Services for Arnold Lynn Peterson, 42, of Wellborn, are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Truevine Baptist Church in Navasota. The Rev. Sam Harris II of The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ will officiate. Burial will be at College Station City Cemetery.

Mr. Peterson died Tuesday in Navasota.

He was born in Joliet, Ill. He was employed by First Material in Navasota.

He served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Mattia Peterson of Huntsville, two sons, Cary Lynn and Leroy Lynn Peterson, both of Huntsville; two brothers, Willie Moore and Arnold Peterson, both of Houston; four sisters, Bobbie F. Peterson, Sandra K. Peterson, Hope Peterson, and Tasha Peterson, all of Houston.

She was born in Burleson County. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Pablo Alvarez Martinez

Mr. Martinez died Thursday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.

He was born in Chriesman, Texas. He was a heavy equipment operator for the city of Bryan, where he resided for 18 years.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Martinez of Bryan; three sons, David Martinez of College Station, Louis N. Martinez of San Marcos, Texas, and Paul Martinez of Bryan; two daughters and a son-in-law, Abigail Lopez and Juan Trevino of Bryan, and Martina Martinez of Bryan; one brother, Lorenzo Martinez of Bryan; six sisters, Sofia Estrada of Wilson, Texas, Janie Benavidez and Georgia Paniguia of Tahoka, Texas, Tomasa Gonzales of Dallas, Margaret Milazzo of Bryan; a sister, Lupie Simmons of Temple, Texas; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
