Services for Charles Shugart, 72, of Denson Springs will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor David Bergman officiating. Burial will follow in Muse Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Shugart died Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Madisonville.
He was born Nov. 9, 1931 in Hodge, La. to Charles Lynard and Mittie Grisby Shugart.
Mr. Shugart was a control operator for USI Chemical Company where he was employed for more than 25 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Shugart was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Pansey Anderson Shugart; and a brother, Johnny Shugart.
Mr. Shugart is survived by his wife, Neva Shugart of Denson Springs; daughter, Shirli Lenee O'Neill of Houston; sons, Rickey Holderrieth and wife Linda of Houston, Randy Holderrieth and wife Karry of Centerville; sisters, Ann Shugart of Grand Junction, Colo., Virginia Carlson and Joan Hobbs both of Houston; brother, Ed Shugart of Denson Springs; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Anderson, Keith Brown, Craig Fletcher, Mike Jones, John Wynne and Larry Shoppe.
Honorary pallbearer will be Reece Holderrieth.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Building Fund.

A memorial service for David MacDonald Griffith, 45, of Katy will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Brenham Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Larry Embry officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham.
Mr. Griffith died Monday in Houston Hospice of pancreatic cancer.
He was born Jan. 3, 1959 in Fort Campbell, Ken. to Capt. Kenneth R. and Rita C. (Hender) Griffith.
Mr. Griffith was a Brenham High School graduate where he was active in the Key Club and participated in the Maifest. He graduated from Blinn College with an associate degree and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Howard Payne University in Brownwood. His minor was in theology and he was licensed to minister the Gospel. While attending Blinn and Howard Payne, he was a member of Circle K and became district lieutenant governor. On Feb. 28, 1993 he married Shari Kellmann in Houston. He worked for HEB for many years in Brenham and Austin. He was currently employed as an assistant store director at Randall's Supermarket in Houston. He was a member of First Baptist Church Christian Men's Group in Katy.
He is survived by his wife, Shari Griffith; son Ian MacDonald Griffith; parents Kenneth and Rita Griffith of Brenham; brothers, Dr. Karl E. Griffith and wife Terri of Dallas, Mark R. Griffith and wife Bronwyn of Grapevine; sister, Charlotte A. Weinstein and husband Stuart of Colleyville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alvin and Joyce Kellmann of Sugar Land; sisters-in-law, Nancy Hough of Cleveland, Ohio and Dr. Rachel Griffith of Dallas; nieces and nephews, Keri Griffith, Lynne McCollum, Ashley Griffith, Ryan Griffith and Bryn Hough.
Mr. Griffith was preceded in death by his grandparents Karl and Mattie Griffith and William and Reita Hender; and an infant brother, Michael Ray Griffith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Gibson, Mike Kellog, Charles Woods, Leonard Wagner and John Bell.
A visitation with the family will follow the memorial service.

Mrs. O'Neal died Monday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born April 15, 1926 in Anderson County to Louis W. Camp and Bessie Fulgium Camp. She was a homemaker and a member of the Walston Springs Baptist Church.
Mrs. O'Neal was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Murray A. Crutcher Sr.; and her second husband, J.B. "Shorty" O'Neal; sister, Lucille Prater; grandson, Larry Wayne Parsons Jr.; and a stepson, Don O'Neal.
She is survived by daughters, Glenda Easley and husband Bob, Dale Parsons and Larry Sr., all of Palestine; stepdaughters, Sue Hanak of Palestine, and Mrs. Ron (Bettye) Greene of Tyler; sons, Murray A. Crutcher Jr. and wife Pam of Odessa and Bill Crutcher and wife Pinkie of Palestine; sisters, Grace Lively of Magnolia, Betty Joyce Ray of Denson Springs, Mary Minton of Jacksonville, and Hazel Starr of Palestine; a brother, Henry M. Camp of Palestine; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Hayden Parsons, Gary Hill, Frank Easley, Murray A. Crutcher III, Michael Crutcher; and great-grandson, Austin Evans.

She will be missed by her family and friends. She was a loving, caring, person to everyone she knew and spent her entire life offering help to all she found to be in need.

Graveside services for H. Darwin Hodges, 81, of Duncanville, and formerly of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Palestine City Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Glenn officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Hodges died Monday at Charlton Methodist Hospital in Duncanville.
He was born Oct. 28, 1922 in Palestine to Hayden Judson and Hattie Belle Berry Hodges.
Mr. Hodges graduated from Texas A&M and was retired from Mobile Oil as a physicist. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the St. Paul Episcopal Church in Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Hodges is survived by his wife, June Shelton Hodges of Duncanville; and a sister, Jane Henderson and husband Bob of Palestine.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Henderson, Adam Henderson, Jay Henderson, Danny Unger, Daniel Unger, Joshua Unger, and Josiah Unger.
