Hattie Grossman Hobizal
Funeral services for Hattie Grossman Hobizal, 91, of Rosenberg and former resident of Shiner and Wharton, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Eckert officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Shiner.
Mrs. Hobizal died Nov. 23, 2003, in Rosenberg. She was born Dec. 2, 1911, in Gonzales County to the late Laddie and Mary Lesak Grossman.
She spent her life as a housewife. Mrs. Hobizal married Tom Hobizal and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Adeline Boedeker; sister, Lillie Richey; brothers, Bill Grossman, Fred Grossman and Ed Grossman; and a granddaughter.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Willis D. and Gloria Hobizal of Rosenberg; son-in-law, Martin Boedeker of Shiner; sisters, Louise Polasek of Shiner and Adela Marek of Texarkana, Ark.; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and three step-great-great-granchildren.
Pallbearers are Donnie Boedeker, Martin Boedecker Jr., Randy Boedeker, David Boedeker, Carl Hobizal and Brian Wolter.
Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Boedeker, Morris Boedeker and Bo Anderson.
Valarie Jackson
Funeral services for Valarie Renee Jackson, 48, of Wharton, will be held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, at Martin Luther King Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Bowden Cemetery in Hungerford.
Mrs. Jackson died Nov. 22, 2003, at her residence. She was born Nov. 14, 1955, in Wharton to the late James and Ethel C. Williams Ross Sr.
She worked as an activity director in the healthcare field.
Survivors include husband Charlie Jackson Jr. of Wharton; daughter, Sarah Isabelle Sanders of Wharton; son, Timothy Wayne Ross Sanders of Wharton; sisters, Gilda Harris, Angela Gardner and Harriett Davis, all of Wharton; brothers, Hayward Ross and James Ross Jr., both of Wharton, and Anthony Ross of Pflugerville; and one grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Albert Cook
Funeral services for Albert James Cook Sr., 68, of Eagle Lake, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sand Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. A.C. Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in Sand Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Cook died Feb. 9, 2004, in Avalon Place. He was born Sept. 23, 1935, in Palacios to Carl and Patsy Rucker Cook.

Millie Lange
Funeral services for Millie Mary Lange, 78, of El Campo, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in El Campo with Rev. Gary Janak officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be held beginning at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday. A rosary will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday before the funeral services begin.
Mrs. Lange died Feb. 10, 2004. She was born March 20, 1925, in Praha, to John and Frances Sassin Vesely.
She was a retired sales clerk from Weiner’s Department Store. Mrs. Lange was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church.
Survivors include husband, Edmund Lange of El Campo; daughters, Donna Staudt of Wharton and Connie Hajovsky of Ganado; step-daughter, Violet Burger of Victoria; son, Paul Elledge of El Campo; sister, Frances Buckler of Victoria; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Paul Chester Elledge.

Mrs. Lewis died Feb. 8, 2004, at Hermann Hospital in Houston. She was born Jan. 25, 1949, in Georgetown to Owen T. Mitchell and Viola Mae Dry Mitchell.
Mrs. Lewis was a housewife.

Walter Lyons
Graveside services for Walter M. Lyons, 78, of El Campo, will be held at 3 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Lakeside Cemetery in Eagle Lake with Chaplain Don A. Story Sr. officiating.
Mr. Lyons died Feb. 9, 2004, at Garden Villa Nursing Home in El Campo after an extended illness. He was born Jan. 3, 1926, in Orange to Sam and Bell Laughlin Lyons.
He was a retired operator with Tennessee Gas and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include daughters, Rita James and Carolyn Brown, both of El Campo, and Barbara Anthony of Amite, La.; son, Tommy Lyons of El Campo; sister, Juanita Larson of Ganado; brothers, William O. Funeral services for Ralph Carl Boehnemann Jr., 60, of Beasley, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg with Rev. Gilbert Olivarez officiating. Mr. Boehnemann died April 1, 2004, in Beasley. He was born March 15, 1944, in East Bernard to Ralph Carl and Elda Ognoskie Boehnemann. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Janis Marton
Graveside services for Janis Carolyn Marton, 59, of Wharton, were held Thursday at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Chester Sassman officiating.
Mrs. Marton died March 30, 2004, in Wharton. She was born on Oct. 14, 1944, in Abilene, the daughter of Buford Bartow Jones and the late Ida Faye Lawrence.
She was reared in Abilene and was a graduate of Abilene High School. She married W.L. Marton on Sept. 1, 1962, in Abilene. Mrs. Marton worked as an administrative secretary for the Travelers Insurance Co. in Dallas. After moving to Baytown, she continued her education at Lee College and received her nursing degree. She worked as a nurse caretaker for numerous individuals until her forced retirement due to her disability in 1982. She was a seven-year resident of Wharton and was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Joe Toria of Bay City; sons and daughter-in-law, Jeffery Marton of Abilene, Russell Lee and Stephanie Marton of Dayton and Eric O. Marton of Wharton; sister, Francis Tubiola of Cherry Valley, Calif.; brothers, Denis Jones of Austin and Jerry Winters of Rosenberg; and five grandchildren.

Mr. North died March 26, 2004, at his residence. He was born Aug. 10, 1937, in Wharton to M.E. and Maddie Lawson North.

Jacob Sikora
Jacob Stephen Sikora, 68, of Bay City died March 29, 2004, at his residence. He was born Feb. 9, 1936 in Wharton to Jacob Antoine and Clara Emilie Horelica Sikora.
Mr. Sikora was a longtime resident of the Sugar Valley area, a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army, was a rural postal carrier for the U.S. Post Office, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include wife: Clarice Lee Sikora of Mullan, Ind.; daughters, Kimberley Sikora, Karen Sikora, Kirsten Sikora-Sutherland, all of Anchorage, Alaska; mother Clara Sikora of lago; sister, JoAnn Foehner of Boling; grandchildren: Elizabeth Sikora, Jacob Frederick Sikora, and Aidan Sutherland all of Anchorage, Alaska.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, April 4, 2004, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 1909 Peach Street in Bay City, with Rev. Eric Klimpel officiating.

Edith Smaistrla
Memorial services for Edith M. Smaistrla, 46, of Gainsville, Fla., were held March 26, following cremation.
Mrs. Smaistrla died March 18, 2004, in North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was born in Milwaukee, Wis., and moved to the Gainsville, Fla., area from Texas six years ago.
She was a sales manager for Goody’s retail store. Mrs. Smaistrla was Catholic by faith and a member of Gainsville Quarter- back Club.
Survivors include son, Richard Green of Gainsville, Fla.; daughter, Terri Smaistrla of Gainsville, Fla.; mother, Pauline Miller of Gainesville, Fla.; and sister, Carolyn Green of Bay City.

Bud Stone
military graveside services for AW2/E5 Bud Stone, 22, of Needville, will be held at 1 p.m. today, Saturday, at Wharton Funeral Home. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. today and burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with military burial under the direction of the Naval and Marine Corps Reserve Center in Houston.
Seaman Stone died March 27, 2004, in Virginia Beach, Va.
He was a member of the U.S. Navy specializing in aviation warfare.

Lawrence Treybig
Funeral services for Lawrence “Dubbie” W. Treybig Sr., 76, of El Campo, will be held at 10 a.m. today, Saturday, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Taiton with Rev. Joe Vrana officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
Mr. Treybig died March 31, 2004. He was born Sept. 8, 1927, in Glen Flora, to the late Walter B. and Henrietta Stock Trebig.
He was a retired self-employed building contractor and rancher. Mr. Treybig was a member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 50 years, a member of SPJST, former director of Wharton County Electric Co-op, former director of Taiton Community Center, former longtime member of St. John’s Parish Board. He was an usher at St. Joseph’s Mission. Mr. Treybig was preceded in death by a grandson, Gregg Alan Buzek.
Survivors include daughters, Denise Buzek of Taiton, Debbie Bernhard of Louise and Marsha Zieschang of Danevang; sons, Duane Treybig of Sugar Land, Lawrence Treybig Jr. of Santa Anna, Calif., Christopher Treybig of Sugar Land and Michael Treybig of Taiton; brothers, Walter B.
