JAMES OTTO SHAW

James Otto Shaw, 73, of Port Neches died June 17, 2000 at his residence.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Port Neches with burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park under the direction of Pat A. Riley Funeral Home in Nederland. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Alexandria, La., he was a longtime area resident and was a retired Union Oil electrician and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Rainey Shaw of Port Neches; son, David Shaw of Beaumont; brother, Howard E. Shaw of Lompoc, Calif.; sister, Margaret Shaw Traylor of Austell, Ga.; and grandson, Brandin Shaw of Port Neches.

Memorials may be made to Three Rivers Hospital, 51 N. 11th St., Beaumont, Texas 77702.

JUSTIN HANCE SIMMONS

Justin Hance Simmons, 19, of Kountze died June 14, 2000 in Houston.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze with burial at Jordan Cemetery.

A native of Kountze, he had been working in Houston for a short time.

Survivors include his parents, David and Mary Simmons of Huntsville; brothers, Keith Simmons and Joshua Simmons, both of Huntsville; sisters, Rachel Simmons and Misty Simmons, both of Van Vleck; and grandparents, J.H. and Francis Gandy of Votaw and Aaron and Mildred Crain of Kountze.

EVELYN CURTIS WILLIAMS

Evelyn Curtis Williams, 55, of Dayton died June 16, 2000 at her residence.

Memorial service will be held at a later date under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

A longtime resident of La Porte, she lived in Dayton many years and was a Baytown-La Porte tunnel guard.

Survivors include her husband, James Lee Williams of Dayton; daughters, Lee Harrelson and Beth Carter, both of La Porte, and Theresa Payne of Hinesville, Ga.; and five grandchildren.

JIM LEE WOMACK

Jim Lee Womack, 89, of Silsbee died June 17, 2000 in Silsbee.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Abundant Life Pentecostal Church in Silsbee with burial at Resthaven Cemetery in Silsbee under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Browndell, he lived in Silsbee most of his life and was a retired Texaco machinist.

Survivors include his wife, Charity Womack of Silsbee; daughter, Jo Cravey of Silsbee; sons, J.C. Womack and Jimmy Womack, both of Silsbee; sisters, Lizzie Gilbert of Port Neches, Faye Welch of Arkansas, Frances Forse of Silsbee and Jewel Knight of Evadale; brother, Curry Womack of Humble; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Jo Ann ‘Mickie’ Dearbonne

Jo Ann "Mickie" Dearbonne, 68, of West Orange died April 6, 2001, at her residence.

Memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange with cremation handled by Wilbert Crematory.

A native of Dallas, she lived in West Orange many years and was a self-employed health care service attendant.

Survivors include sons, James Staples of Kemah, Michael Sonnier of West Orange, Wayne Dearbonne of Bridge City and Steve Dearbonne of Port Arthur; daughter, Kim Dearbonne of Port Arthur; and 11 grandchildren.

Earl Anthony Gray Jr.

Earl Anthony Gray Jr., 61, of Sour Lake died April 6, 2001, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

A native of Beaumont, he lived in Sour Lake and was a Local No. 195 pipe fitter.

Survivors include sons, Terry Gray of Vidor and David Gray of Sour Lake; daughter, Earline Gray Harris of Buna; and 10 grandchildren.

Velma Lee Stubbs Green

Velma Lee Stubbs Green, 70, of Houston died April 6, 2001, at Northwest Medical Center.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton with a graveside service at 5 p.m. at Wealthy Cemetery in Normangee. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Cove, she lived in the Houston area 51 years and was a former Houston Independent School District employee.

Survivors include sons, Kenneth Green of Huffman and Darryl Green of Houston; daughters, Linda Langston and Pamela Green, both of Houston; brother, Jerome Stubbs; sister, Jane Davenport; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Geneva C. Hall

Geneva C. Hall, 79, of Fort Davis died April 4, 2001, at Big Bend Regional Medical Center.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Port Arthur, she was a longtime resident of Fort Davis.

Survivors include daughters, Sharron Longshore of La Luz, N.M., and Janis Hall of Fort Davis; sister, Jeanette Simpson of Burleson; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Henry Thomas Horka

Henry Thomas Horka, 92, of Silsbee died April 7, 2001, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mark’s Catholic Church with burial at Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

A native of Chicago, Ill., he lived in Silsbee, was an attorney and retired from Humble Oil.

Survivors include his son, R.F. "Bo" Horka of Silsbee; daughter, Ann Horka Wheeler of Silsbee; and grandchildren, Lee Wheeler of Lumberton, Diana Lynn Cutbirth of Corpus Christi and Misti Ingram of Silsbee.

Memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Catholic Church Building Fund, 950 N. 9th St., Silsbee, Texas 77656.

Viola James

Viola James, 85, of Orange died April 4, 2001, at her residence.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Starlight Church of God In Christ with burial at Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home in Orange. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the church.

A native of Rosedale, La., she lived in Orange 60 years and was retired from Memorial Hermann Baptist Orange Hospital.

Survivors include her son, Albert "Preacher" Denson of Orange; daughter, Cleo James Boston of Orange; eight grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Earnestine Knight

Earnestine Knight, 74, of Call died April 6, 2001, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Trout Creek Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Angelina County, she lived in Call 27 years.

Survivors include her husband, John M. Knight of Call; daughters, Sarah Phillips of Cleveland, Eva Beard of Lake Worth, Fla., and Mary Stephens and Janice Bringle, both of Old Salem; son, John S. Knight of Southaven, Miss.; brothers, James D. Berwick of Humble, Virgil C. Berwick of Lufkin and Jimmy E. Berwick of Coaldale, Colo.; sisters, Ida Maude Wright of Lufkin and Charline Simpson of Shepherd; 15 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Eloise M. Lockwood

Eloise M. Lockwood, 81, of DeRidder, La., died April 6, 2001, at Beauregard Memorial Hospital.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder with burial at Prewitts Chapel Cemetery in Hornbeck, La. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Hornbeck, she lived in DeRidder and was a Burley LeDoux Insurance Agency secretary.

Survivors include her son, Clifton N. Lockwood of DeRidder; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Marlin Ray ‘Bull’ Lowe

Marlin Ray "Bull" Lowe, 65, of Hull died April 6, 2001, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Blue Water Cemetery in Segno. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Livingston, he lived in Hull 11 years and was an oilfield roughneck.

Survivors include sons, Wendell Lowe of Abilene and Dan Lowe of Houston; brothers, Ancel C. Lowe and Leon Lowe, both of Silsbee, and Perry Lowe of Sour Lake; sisters, Emma Lou Spears of Cleveland and Lois Marie Daniels of Batson; and one grandchild.

Patricia Ann Murphy

Patricia Ann Murphy, 57, of Lumberton died April 7, 2001, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Victory Temple Assembly of God Church with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Lafayette, La., she was a former longtime resident of Beaumont who had also lived in Livingston six years and was a Malley Cleaners manager.

Survivors include sisters, Charlene Kent of Lumberton, Glenda Murphy of Sevierville, Tenn., and Sharon Terry of Montgomery; and nephews, Scott Kent of Lumberton and Randy Burgins of Mauriceville.
