A native of Milam, she lived in Hemphill most of her life and was a retired Hemphill Independent School District teacher.
Survivors include her daughters, Freddye Kelly of Katy; grandchildren, Bruce Coussons of Dallas, and Brian Coussons and Brad Coussons, both of Katy; two step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Deloris "Brown’’ Thornton, 65, of Kountze died June 25, 2001, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Corinth Baptist Church in Kountze with burial at Trinity Valley District Cemetery in Kountze under the direction of Coleman’s Tyler County Funeral Home in Woodville.
A native of Orange, she lived in the Honey Island and Kountze areas most of her life and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Lowe of Silsbee, Jacqueline Morgan, Teresa Kemp and Sophia Sam, all of Kountze, and Toni White of Atlanta, Ga.; sons, Clarence Thornton of Willis, Eddie Meyers and John Meyers, both of Houston, Jerry Thornton, Stanley Meyers, Kelton Thornton and Edwin Myer, all of Kountze; sisters, Edna Mae Allen and Willie Mae Hancock, both of Kountze.

A native of Miami, Fla., he lived in Vidor and Bridge City for many years and was a Bayer Corp. maintenance technician.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona Briggs Valentine of Bridge City; son, James Valentine of Bridge City; daughters, Jeannie Valentine of Beaumont, Robin Ferguson Thibodeaux of Winnie and Misty Ferguson Thurman of Bridge City; and one granddaughter.
