RAY HEBERT

Ray Hebert, 75, of Port Arthur died Sept. 26, 2000, at his residence.

Funeral will be at 7 p.m. today at Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today with a rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

A native of Port Arthur, he was a retired owner and operator of Ray’s Barber Shop.

Survivors include his wife, Viola Warlick Hayes Hebert of Port Arthur; daughters, Cherlyn Hebert of Houston and Nancy Schmidt of Port Neches; son, Jeré Hebert of Orange; and two grandchildren.

GAIL BORDON ‘TURKEY’ McDANIEL JR.

Gail Bordon "Turkey’’ McDaniel Jr., 55, of Beaumont died Sept. 26, 2000, at his residence.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Magnolia Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of San Antonio, he lived in Beaumont 18 years and was a Ramco Trucking truck driver.

Survivors include his sons, Reginald McDaniel of Pensacola, Fla., Tracy McDaniel of Memphis, Tenn., and James Alston of Houston; mother, Bessie Mason of Brownsville; stepmother, Jan Peddy of Lumberton; sister, Sarah Evans of San Antonio; brother, Roy Cale of San Antonio; and two grandchildren.

JAMES MOSELEY

James Moseley, 63, of Liberty died Sept. 24, 2000, at Liberty-Dayton Hospital in Liberty.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty with a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Corinth Cemetery near Kennard. Visitation was Wednesday at the funeral home.

A former resident of Cleburne, he lived in the Liberty area 45 years and was owner/operator of Moseley Wrecker Service.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Moseley of Liberty; sons, Herman "PeeWee’’ Moseley of Liberty, Dwight Moseley of Port Arthur and James Lloyd Moseley of Flowery Branch, Ga.; stepson, Richard Frye of Dayton; mother, Dorothy Moseley of Liberty; sisters, Pauline Moseley of Tulsa, Okla., and Diana Nash of Bay City, Wis.; brothers, Bob Moseley of Hondo and Ray Moseley of Mauriceville; and five grandchildren.

BROOKSIE SAVOIE

Brooksie Savoie, 82, of West Orange died Sept. 26, 2000, at her residence.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Orange with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today with a rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

A native of Silsbee, she lived in Orange 55 years and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara J. Breaux of Orange; sons, James D. Savoie and Robert G. Savoie, both of Orange; sister, Nelma Millican of Beaumont; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

JESSIE MAY SPRINKLE

Jessie May Sprinkle, 60, of Vidor died Sept. 27, 2000, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Buna with burial at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Kennedy and a former longtime resident of Orange, she lived in Vidor two years.

Survivors include her son, William Allen Sprinkle of Orangefield; daughters, Edity Simmons of Vidor and Barbara Pauline Landry of Mississippi; and seven grandchildren.

THAD F. EVANS JR.

Thad F. Evans Jr., 69, of Groves died Oct. 1, 2000, at Gulf Health Care Center in Port Arthur.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Beaumont Haven of Rest Cemetery under the direction of Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Roganville and former longtime resident of Beaumont, he lived in Groves 10 years and was a security guard. He was also a Korea War U.S. Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his sister, Teresa Lively of Port Arthur; and brother, Jimmy W. Mitchell of Kountze.

VONNIE MAE HANEY

Vonnie Mae Haney, 91, of Silsbee died Sept. 30, 2000, in Silsbee.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation was Sunday at the funeral home

A native of Douglas, she lived in Silsbee 30 years and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughters, Sue Richardson of Wildwood and Oneida Faye Thompson of Beaumont; son, Weldon H. Haney of Houston; and sister, Vera Yates of Biloxi, Miss.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

OTHO HAUNSCHILD

Otho Haunschild, 84, of Orange died Sept. 29, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Houston.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Bradford, Penn., with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Lockwood, Mo., he lived in Orange 59 years and was a retired executive officer at Levingston Shipbuilding Company in Orange, past president of S.C.O.R.E. and past director of County National Bank, he also served on the Board of Trustees for Orange Independent School District.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Haunschild of Orange; son, Harold E. Haunschild of Houston; daughter, Ann Bookout of Houston; brother, Kenneth Haunschild of Kingsville; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 2300 Eddleman Road, Orange, Texas 77632.

CURTIS J. ‘RABBIT’ HEBERT SR.

Curtis J. "Rabbit’’ Hebert Sr., 68, of Port Acres died Sept. 30, 2000, at his residence.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church in Port Acres with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of St. Martinville, La., he lived in Port Acres 68 years and was a retired operator and boilermaker from Gulf Oil Corp. He was also a Korean War U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Hebert of Port Acres; daughters, Paula Leblanc of Port Acres and Pamela DuBois of Lafayette, La.; son, Curtis J. "Curt’’ Hebert Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska; brothers, A. Viley Hebert of Port Acres and Uylesse Hebert of Port Arthur; and five grandchildren.

AWILDA MARIE JENKINS

Awilda Marie Jenkins, 92, of Beaumont died Sept. 29, 2000, at Buna Nursing Home.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Buna with burial at Antioch Cemetery under the direction of E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Buna.

A native of Rising Star, she lived in Buna 61 years and was a retired saleswoman for House of Jacquous Inc. cosmetics.

Survivors include her daughters, Joy Marie Knight of Livingston and Nell Jane Anderson of Buna; sisters, Mildred Lubbock of Brenham, Zelda Adkins of Houston and Lucille Dougherty of Baton Rouge; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

JOHN D. McALPIN JR.

John D. McAlpin Jr., 61, of Oak Island died Sept. 30, 2000, at John Sealey Hospital in Galveston.

Cremation under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Services will be announced at a later date.

A native of Rock Bluff, Fla., and former resident of High Island, he lived in Oak Island 18 years and was a self-employed shipper and processor in the seafood industry.

Survivors include his wife, Mary McAlpin of Oak Island; children, Gary McAlpin of Lavernia, Misty Ponder, Tina Comeaux, Angie Andres and Jody Sullivan, all of High Island, Sissie Lawson of Houston and Pam Myers of Baytown; numerous grandchildren; and one great-grandchildren.

DOROTHY JEAN McBRIDE

Dorothy Jean McBride, 71, of Milam died Oct. 1, 2000, at her residence.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Hope Cemetery in Milam under the direction of Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

A native of Mangum and former resident of Fort Worth, she lived in Milam 20 years and was a clicker operator for Tandy Leather Crafts.

Survivors include her sons, Charles Edward Hale of Louisville, Ky., and Joe Harold Hale Jr. of Fort Worth; and daughters, Karen Jean Marks and Nancy Jane Hale, both of Milam; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

ALVIN JOSEPH PREJEAN

Alvin Joseph Prejean, 94, of Raywood died Sept. 27, 2000, at Liberty-Dayton Hospital in Liberty.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Raywood with burial at to be held at a later date in California under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

A native of Scott, La., and former resident of Los Angeles, Calif., and Houston, he lived in Raywood four years.

Survivors include his daughters, Willa Mae P. Ramos of Raywood, Yvonne P. Bronsal of Los Angeles and Lee E.P. Artigue of Duluth, Ga.; sisters, Lena P. Mouton, Mabel P. Guillory, Sarah P. Potts, Inez P. Callagan and Effie P. Boudreaux, 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

PHILLIP SKAFF

Phillip Skaff, 89, of Huntsville died Sept. 30, 2000, at his residence.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

A native of Charleston, W. Va., and former resident of Port Arthur 35 years, he lived in Huntsville 19 years and was a retired Dupont in Orange mechanical superintendent.

Survivors include his daughters, Phyllis Moore of Houston, Patricia Vickery and Carol Skaff, both of Richards; brother, Mitchell Skaff of South Charleston; and sister, Charlotte Skaff of Charleston; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

SANDI AARON SMITH

Sandi Aaron Smith, 52, of Beaumont died Sept. 30, 2000, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Funeral will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Broussard’s Mortuary in Beaumont. A gathering of friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.

A native of Hattiesburg, Miss., she lived in Beaumont most of her life and was a sales assistant for Smith Barney.

Survivors include her son, Adam Smith of Humble; daughters, Amy Sauls of Kirbyville and Colleen Broussard of Fannett; parents Monte and Jennie Aaron of Hattiesburg; and four grandchildren.
