Caldwell

Azee Caldwell, Sr. was born to Ernest and Lillie Caldwell on February 15, 1928, in Brady, Texas. He departed this life on May 22, 2013.

Azee accepted Christ at an early age at Bethel Elder Baptist Church in Yoakum, TX. In the 60s he moved to Liberty County and joined Olive Bethel Baptist Church in Hardin. There he faithfully worked in the church. He served as the Sunday School Superintendent for many years, VBS Director, deacon and church treasurer.

After graduation from Asberry High School, he joined the Air Force, Honorable, April 23, 1946 to April 22, 1949. He received a Master's Degree from Prairie View A&M University. During his time at Prairie View, he met and married Pearl Juanita Emanuel. To this union five children were born.

Mr. Caldwell began his educational career during segregation. Hempsted - Ag., Van Vleck- Ag., Shiner- Principal/Classroom Teacher, Beeville- Principal/ 6th -8th Graders, Hardin Principal. After integration he continued his career with Hardin ISD. During these years he was an elementary PE teacher, coach, bus driver and principal. He retired after 25 years in Hardin, concluding 38 years in public education. He also was licensed barber. Additionally, he was avid farmer raising animals, vegetables and prize winning flower gardens.

Azee was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Ernest, Marion, Jewel, Helen, Artis, Maidia, and Emmett.

He leaves to cherish his memories: Pearl J. Caldwell, wife of sixty-two years. Children: Juanita Marie Caldwell-San Antonio, Carolyn Caldwell-Winnie, Jacqueline Payne (Thomas)-Dayton, Azee Caldwell, Jr. (Loretta-deceased)-Beach City, Twila (Randy)-Cleveland, Texas. Grandchildren: Shantrice Andre(deceased), Marcella, Marvella, Ashley, Azee III, Anthony and Chelsey. Nine great grandchildren. One brother-Carmen Caldwell (Rosa)-San Antonio. A host of nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., at Wells Funeral Services Chapel. He will lie in state on Saturday, May 25, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Olive Bethel Baptist Church, Hardin, Texas. Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Greg Bellard, officiating. Interment at Veteran's Memorial cemetery, Houston, Texas.

Services entrusted to Wells Funeral Services, 300 Alabama St, Liberty, Texas.

Fregia

Christy Denese Fregia, age 49 of Montgomery, died at her residence on May 20, 2013.

Christy was born on September 27, 1963 in Liberty, TX, daughter of Wesley Weldon Fregia Sr and Lola Morse Fregia. She attended Hull-Daisetta High School where she graduated in 1982 and then attended college at Lamar University in Beaumont. Christy worked for Tomball Imaging as a MRI-Tech. She loved saltwater fishing and enjoyed being at the beach.

Christy leaves behind to cherish her memories, her parents, sister; Tammie Earp of Liberty, brother; Wesley Weldon Fregia Jr and wife Shelly of Liberty, nephew; Kory Earp of Liberty, nieces; Kaci Earp of Liberty, Acelyn Fregia of Liberty and a host of family and friends.

Services for Christy Denese Fregia will be Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 10am at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Oakdale cemetery in Daisetta, TX. Visitation will be Friday, May 24, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service.

Synagal

Jerald Synagal, 71 of Wallisville, TX; died at his residence on May 20, 2013.

Services will be held at First Missionary Baptist Church 1110 Hamilton St. Anahuac; visitation will begin at 9AM until funeral 11AM. Interment will be in Godfrey cemetery, Wallisville. Jerald was preceded in death by his mother: Julia Roy-August and wife: Mary Lee Synagal. Cherishing his memories are children: Jo Ann Patillo, Georgia Antoine, Jay Carr, Annette Lilly, Michael Synagal and Juanita Synagal, sister: Mary Alice Jackson, 6-Grandchildren, 1- Great- Grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.

Havard

Cary Havard, Jr., 72, of Tarkington Prairie died Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in Houston, Texas.

He was born March 26, 1941 in Cleveland, Texas to parents Cary Havard, Sr. and Beulah Berry Havard. Cary was a lifelong resident of Tarkington Prairie where he grew up on the family ranch. He was retired from the Coast Guard and the Port of Houston Fire Department. He sailed around the world on the seven seas and after retiring he returned to Tarkington Prairie he and his family settled on The Bitterweed Farm. Cary was a jack of all trades and well known for helping others.

Services for Cary will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Day and Rev. Wayne Hardin officiating with interment to follow at Ryan cemetery, Tarkington Prairie. Speaker will be Lloyd “Tall –Boy” West. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday evening at Pace-Stancil in Dayton. Pallbearers are Michael Williams, Bruce Burnett, Johnny Dugat, Cody Havard, Bryan Reynolds, Jerry Tobias, Lloyd West and Bucky Havard. Honorary pallbearers are Ike Hunt, Leonard Riche, and Jerry Rhame.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter: Leslie Anne Havard; brothers: Leslie, Donald, W.H. “Boob”, and Curtis Havard; and his brother-in-law: J. D. Farris. He is survived by his wife of 45 years: Sally Legion Havard of Tarkington Prairie; his son: Shane Havard and wife Melanie of Dayton; his grandchildren: Cody Havard, Taylor Castillo, Allison Havard, Tyler Williams and Britni Wagenseller; his sister: Sis Farris of Dayton; his dog: A.J.; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Willis

Russell Lee Willis, 52, of Baytown died at his home on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. He was a loving father, son, brother, and friend.

Russell was a natural born artist. He loved motorcycles, 4-wheelers, tinkering, and anything outdoors. Above all else, Russell loved his daughter Riley and his family. He was a life long resident of Baytown where he graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. Russell was a Heavy Equipment Operator for Angel Brothers Construction.

Russell is preceded in death by his mother; Bertha Lee, and niece; Dana Lynn Sherman.

Russell is survived by his father; Roy L. Willis, daughter; Riley Paige Willis, sister; Debbie Robinson and husband Tommy, brother; Nathan Willis, Aunt Kay and Uncle Lee Meinen, and his beloved dog Charlie.

Corley

Douglas Ray Corley, 68, of Cleveland, died Monday May 20, 2013 at Kingwood Hospital.

He was an outdoorsman, he loved to fish. He was a fishing guide for Powell Park on Lake Sam Rayburn. He was a great chuck wagon cook. He was an avid NASCAR fan. He could build anything. He was a contract coordinator for Home Depot for 13 years. He loved his family dearly and had a great faith in God.

He is preceded in death by his parents Johnny Ray and Garnett Jordan Corley and his loving aunt, Inez.

He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Linda Corley of Cleveland; children, Jonett Perkins and husband William of Liberty, Sandy Corley and wife Marlena of Mauriceville, Michael Corley and wife Jana of Madisonville, Sheila Corley of Village Mills, Brad Corley of Hardin, Stephanie Gaddy and husband Lonnie of Tarkington; grandchildren, Jessica Lemelle and husband JJ, Kelsey Collier, Emily Corley, Mallory Perkins, Courtney Collier, Colton Corley, Casey Corley, Kristopher Perkins, Cody Collier, Chloe Gaddy and Caleb Corley; future grandson Tripp Lemelle; sisters Carol Dozier and husband Jerry of Liberty and Kathy David; his pet Chihuahua, Diago; numerous extended family members.

His family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel on Thursday May 23, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A service of remembrance will be held Thursday May 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith and Family Funeral Services, officiated by Dr. Buddy Hicks. Internment will follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson.

Casey

Carl Ray Casey, 82, of Moss Hill, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 23, 2013, at the Hardin United Methodist Church in Hardin. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, at the church. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Carl was born July 26, 1930 in Wharton, to parents William M. “Bill” and Esther Kohleffel Casey. He was a graduate of Boling High School and attended the University of Houston, studying engineering. He was a former resident of Dayton, and has resided in Moss Hill for the past 46 years. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during Korea, a former Dayton city councilman, Justice of the Peace for Moss Hill, a Mason in the Dayton Masonic Lodge #825, and a member of Hardin United Methodist Church. He retired as an operator for Texas Gulf Sulphur after 31 years of employment to travel and follow his interest in horses and cattle ranching. He also enjoyed reading and leatherworking.

Mr. Casey was preceded in death by his father, William M. “Bill” Casey, his mother, Esther Kohleffel Casey, a daughter, Jo Ann “Jodi” Casey, one brother and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Dunn Casey of Moss Hill, sons, Paul E. Casey, Sr. and wife Patti of Bullard, and Ralph Casey of Dayton; grandchildren, David Casey, Robert Casey and wife Amanda, and Paul E. Casey, Jr. and wife Lynn; great-grandchildren, Blake, Reese, Aedan, and Ethan, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of floral remembrances, donations can be made to the Jo Ann “Jodi” Casey Scholarship at the Hardin United Methodist Church at PO Box 134, Hardin, TX 77561, located at 1005 Hwy 834 W Liberty, TX 77575 (936) 298-2342, in Carl’s name.

Cox

Phillip Kelby Cox 23, of Hull, died Saturday May 18, 2013 in Batson after an auto accident.

A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday May 22, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at The Faith & Family Funeral Service of Batson, with Reverend Tolbert Hudspeth officiating Interment will follow at Guedry cemetery of Batson. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday May 21, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. also at Faith & Family Chapel.

Phillip had lived in Hull most of his life and was a Crane operator for B.E. Resources of Silsbee.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers; George Larry Cox, Dwayne Deason. Maternal grandfather; George Carroll Scofelia.

Those left to survive him are his father Larry Phillip Cox of Hull, mother Tabitha Scofelia and stepfather David Rogers both of Raywood. Step-grandmother; Terry Ellis Scofelia of Batson, maternal grandmother; Camille Deason of Hardin, and another maternal grandmother; Barbara Scofelia of Liberty. Sisters; Kelsea Cox of Raywood, and Kayle Cox of Hull. Pallbearers are Justin Lopez, J.P. Ellis, Ricky Wunch, Kaleb McWhorter, Nathan McWhorter, and B.J. Meche. Honorary pallbearers are Chance Dorman, Lamar Crabtree, David Rogers, Nathan McWhorter. Phillip had a host of aunts and uncles and numerous cousin who loved him very much and will miss him greatly.

Beasley

Mary Jane Beasley, age 91 of Liberty, died May 18, 2013 in Liberty, TX.

Mary was born March 29, 1922 in Alpine, AL, daughter of James and Lucy Leach Edwards. Mary was a housewife most of her life. She married the love of her life on October 19, 1947, Derwood Beasley. They moved to Liberty in 1974 and remained here in Liberty until her departure in life. Mary attended Berry College in Rome, GA and earned her degree in home economics.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; John Richard Edwards, Amos Edwards, William Edwards, Louie Edwards, John Thomas Edwards, Charles Bascom Edwards, sisters; Eula Mae Edwards, Annie Beal Edwards, and Sarah Ada Lee Edwards. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her husband of 66 years; Derwood M. Beasley of Liberty, sons; Richard Beasley and wife Cecelia of Liberty, Robert Beasley of Liberty, sister; Margaret Bearden of Sylacauga, AL, grandchildren; Mitchell Beasley, David Beasley, Jason Beasley and wife Kristin, Catherine Gassett and husband Cheyenne, great-grandchildren; Christopher, Gregory, Cameron, Kaylin and Caiden Beasley.

Services for Mary Jane Beasley will be Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 10am at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Cooke cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service.

Good

Ricky Ray Good, 59 of Anahuac died Friday, May 17, 2013 at Houston Hospice with his family by his side. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend.

A memorial service will be at a later date under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.

Ricky was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Good; father, Robert Good; brother, Bobby Good. He loved playing the guitar and playing golf.

Ricky is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jamie Good; sons, Ryan Good; Robert Good; brother, Randy Good and wife, Julie; sister, Barbara Clack and husband Jay; niece, Amanda Good; mother-in-law, Kay Shoemaker, father-in-law, James Shoemaker; and a host of other family and friends.

Jordan

Kynzlei Nicole Jordan infant daughter of Kayla Nicole Pickering and Travis Wayne Jordan died Friday May 17, 2013 in Baytown, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather Marvin Jordan and an Uncle Floyd McSpadden.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her mother and father as well as her paternal grandmother Robin Jordan, maternal grandmother and grandfather Sheila and Eddie Glover, aunts; Jessica Warren, Stacy Hollie, Latonia Dison; uncles; Jason Jordan, David and wife Pauline Jordan, and Cody Jordan.

A graveside service will be held 10AM Thursday, May 23, 2013 in Oakdale cemetery.

Colwell

Harrell Colwell, Sr., 91, of Moss Bluff, died Friday, May 17, 2013, at the Liberty Healthcare Center in Liberty.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Harrell was born January 1, 1922 in Zavalla, to parents; John J. and Oda Shofner Colwell, a former resident of Baytown, and has lived in the Liberty area since 1974. He was a veteran of the US Army with service during WWII, a retired lineman for Houston L & P, and member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge #48 AF & AM. He also enjoyed hunting, farming, ranching, and tractor work,

Mr. Colwell was preceded in death by his parents, sons: Harrell Colwell, Jr. and Ronald Wesley Colwell, sisters: Johnnie Woods, Bennie B. Yeates, and Anna Beth Havard, and brothers: Robert and Euel, and Clyde Colwell. He is survived by his grandchildren: Scotty Colwell Nugent and husband Michael, Wes Colwell and wife Angela, Jo Farabee and husband Mike, and Lloyd Griffith, great-grandchildren: Cody Duff and wife KC, Kelsey Duff, Ryan, Jackson, and Nathan Colwell, Crystal Key and husband Charles, Megan and Mikaela Farabee, and Michael Nugent and wife Stephanie, great great-grandchildren: Maci and Kelby Duff, Kaitlyn Key, and Britanie and Christian Nugent, daughter-in-law: Reita Colwell, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Guedry

George Calvin Guedry 69 of Lumberton, TX died Friday May 17, 2013 at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas of Beaumont.

He was born in Beaumont, Texas on February 9, 1944 to his parents John Smith Guedry and Lillie Mae Johnson. He was a Self Employed Business owner and worked as a salesman and had lived in Lumberton for thirty eight years before moving from Hull Daisetta, and was also a member of the Crestwood Baptist Church of Lumberton and a U.S. Air Force veteran He was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Guedry and his parents. Survivors are his wife Bobbie Warner Guedry of Lumberton, sons; John Guedry and wife Beth of Beaumont, Joseph Guedry and wife Sarah of Lewisvilee, TX. Daughter Shawn Orr and husband Eric of Lumberton, brother; John Michael Guedry of Call, TX, sister; Brenda Dosser of Coshocton, Ohio. Grandchildren; Laurin Stokes and husband Jarrod, Alicen Guedry, Natile Orr, Garrett Guedry, Anna Guedry, Lily Guedry, and Eliana Guedry. Pallbearers are Cody Guedry, Seth Parker, Garrett Guedry, Travis Pelt, Donald Levrier, Brad Barrett, and Chris Warner. Honorary pallbearers are Robert "Butch" Warner, Mac Coward, Raymond Etter, Gary Levrier, and Lawrence Tywater and Donnie Parker. A service of remembrance will be held Monday May 20, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. At Faith & Family Funeral Services of Batson, interment with military honors will follow at The Guedry cemetery also of Batson. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday May 19, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. Until 9:00 P.M. At Faith & Family.
