Maybell Fregia, 97 yrs old of Hull, Texas was born on October 8, 1915 and died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 in Liberty, Texas.

Service of Celebration will be at 10am on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at New Life Assembly of God Church, located at 42493 Hwy 105, Batson, Texas. Brother Bill Campbell will speak at the service and music will be performed by Tracy Williams. The family will be receiving friends and family for a time of remembrance on Friday, April 12, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm at the church.

Maybell was a mother, wife and homemaker and a lifelong resident of Hull, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 71 years; Madison Fregia, infant son; John Raymond Fregia, two daughters; Linda Faye Fregia and Dorothy Jean Fregia, sisters; Seawillow Storey, Maude Nugent, Agnes Speed, Ollie Mae Dagle, and brothers; Sevan Taylor, Roy Taylor and Leslie “Pat” Taylor.

She is survived by her sons; Tommy Fregia and wife Roberta of Hull, Texas and C.D. Fregia and wife Anna of Hull, Texas. Grandchildren; Tina White and husband Danny of Tarkington Prairie, Texas and Marianne Leger and husband Byron of Conroe, Texas, many great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Newton

Bill E. Newton, 80 of Smith Point died on Monday, April 8, 2013 at Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston. He was a loving husband, dad, Papa Bill and friend.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, April 12, 2013 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Jackson cemetery. A gathering of Bill's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Bill was preceded in death, by daughter, Becky L. Newton Viator; parents, Hosea Kindred and Mary Newton. Bill retired from Magnum Resources. Bill loved fishing, hunting, and working his cattle.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Beth of Smith Point; daughters, Ann Newton of Smith Point, Karen Douglas of Vinton, La; sons, Andy Newton of Smith Point, Wendell "T-Bill" Newton of Port Neches, TX; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Bayside Community Hospital Auxiliary.

Etress

Ernest Edmond Etress, Sr., 73 die Sunday, April 7, 2013 at home in Dayton.

He was born May 14, 1939 in Shelby, Alabama to parents, Ralph Edmond and Julia Bell Carden Etress. Mr. Etress had lived in the Dayton area for the past eleven years after moving from LaPorte. He was retired from Flour-Daniels and United Scaffolding where he worked as a supervisor. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and fishing.

Services for Mr. Etress will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Landry and Athea Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Park cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Etress will be Edmond Etress, Jr., Manuel Barraza, Rene Smith, Athea Davis, Alan Lovett, Zac Lovett, Hannah Lovett, and Shelbie Etress.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Bobby Etress, brother Johnny Etress, sister Eunice Williams and granddaughter: Ashley Ann Nicole Etress. He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Polly McDaniel Etress of Dayton; sons: Ralph “Bama” P. Etress & wife Mandy of Dayton, Ernest E. Etress, Jr. & wife Lucy; daughter: René Smith & husband Doug of Dayton; grandchildren: Kayla Etress, Athea Davis, Alan Lovett, Steven Lovett, Ryan Lovett, Zac Lovett, Hannah Lovett, Shelby Etress & Chelsea Etress; great-grandchildren: Kane Davis, Riley Lovett Bradly Lovett, & Peyton Kennedy Haynes; sisters: Ruby Ramey, Dorothy Sturn, Carolyn Hughes, and Emma Dell Smith all of Alabama.

Smith

Arthur Smith 79, of Liberty, TX died, Apr. 04, 2013, while in V.A. Hospital, Houston.

A Memorial Service will be held, 11AM, Apr. 09, 2013 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 2916 Grand Ave. Liberty, TX. Inurnment in Well’s cemetery, Liberty, TX.

Arthur was preceded in death by his; Father, Mother, 2-Sisters and 1-Brother. He is survived by 1-Brother and a host of Nieces, Nephews other relatives and friends.

Finley

A. W. Finley, 82, of Hardin, died Friday April 5, 2013 at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont with his loving family by his side.

He was an independent oil operator. He loved country and western music and dancing. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His true love was the river.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Alma Finley; brother, Arley John Finley.

He is survived by his children, Sandra Finley of Clear Lake, Harvey Finley and wife Beverly of Hardin, Marsha DeDear and husband Vernon of Liberty, Andra Finley and Mel of Austin, JoAnn and Shirley Jo of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Harvey Finley Jr. of Hardin, Christi Bautsch and husband Steve of Devers, Michael Pantalion and wife Maegan of Santa Fe, Chad Finley and wife Becca of Katy, Amy Hunt and husband Chris of Hardin; nine great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Billie Lockhart of Moss Hill; numerous cousins and friends.

His family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel Sunday April 7, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A service of remembrance will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday April 8, 2013 at Hardin United Methodist Church, officiated by Reverend Gideon Watson. Interment will follow at Findley cemetery in Hardin.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Finley, Bruce Lockhart, Michael Pantalion, Arthur Gilchriest, Steve Bautsch, and Harlon Behar. Honorary pallbearers are J. R. Finley Jr. and Billie Lockhart.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 HWY 105 E., Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 or (936) 336-2222.

McMichael

Gregory Ben McMichael, age 55 of Hardin, died in Houston, TX on April 5, 2013 with his loving family by his side.

Gregory was born August 5, 1957 in Houston, TX, son of the late Grady Gene and Mary Speer McMichael. He attended M.B. Smiley High School where he graduated in 1977. He then attended San Jacinto North College. Gregory was a truck driver with Heartland Express and was also a paramedic.

Gregory was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents; Ben and Iva Speer, Rex and Alaph Harvey and Lyman McMichael. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of thirty-two years; Kay McMichael of Hardin, son; Gregory Lane McMichael of Hardin, daughter; Kaitlynn “Baby Dotter” Hanks and husband Chad of Liberty, sisters; Glenda Meeker and husband Randy of Olathe, KS, Gina Owen and husband Steve of Splendora, TX, grandchildren; Clayton Hanks, Audrey Hanks and Corrigan Hanks.

Services for Gregory Ben McMichael will be Monday, April 8, 2013 at 1pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Williams cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service.

Bonnett

Violet Angie Bonnett, 76 of Highlands died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at her residence with her family by her side.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Friday, April 5, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Highlands under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Nellie Drace Booth; sister, Leona Amburn; brother, Joe Booth; stepsister, Elisie Poole. Violet loved sewing and collectibles.

Violet is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles Bonnett; daughters, Dorothy Lynn Choate, Linda Marie Collins and husband, Robert, Betty Jean Woods, Mary Wilson; son, Charles Hosea; brother, Johnny Booth; 12 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson; and a host of other family and friends.

Duff

Gwen Robinson Duff, 65, of Baytown, Texas, born April 20, 1947 passed away on April 2, 2013.

She has survived by her sons, Jeff Robinson and Brian Robinson from Baytown, Texas, Todd Robinson from Aztec, New Mexico; sisters, Kim Tanner from Hardin, Texas, Eileen Puckett and husband Howard from Angleton, Texas; brother, Larry Duff and wife Wanda from Liberty, Texas; Five grandkids, Toree, Echo, Jadyn, Endea, and Zachary; Numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Colleen Duff; husband, Jerry Robinson; sisters, Kathy Stinnett and Dorothy Downs and brother, Ray Duff

A memorial services will be held at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel 10:00 am Saturday April 6, 2013. There will be no graveside services. Her final resting place will be next to her husband Jerry Robinson in Emerson Arkansas at Western cemetery.

Daniels

Curtis “Tony” Daniels, Jr. of Kenefick, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in Humble, Texas at 68 years of age.

Visitation will be Monday, April 8, 2013; 5:00 p.m. until *:00 p.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Services for Mr. Daniels will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Dayton with Reverend Dale Hill officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m., at Houston National cemetery in Houston, Texas. Pallbearers will be James Hill, Cameron Daniels, Mark Kramer, Aaron Bond, Brian Daniels and John Daniels.

Curtis was born August 6, 1944 in Houston, Harris County, Texas to his parents Faye Geraldine Adams and Curtis Daniels, Sr. He was a graduate of Deer Park High School class of 1962 and San Jacinto Community College. Mr. Daniels served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for Brown and Root Construction, as well as KBR, in the electrical department as a supervisor. Curtis was a resident of the Dayton/Kenefick area for the past 32 years. He was a member of First Baptist church Dayton. Tony was active in Dayton Little League baseball and basketball and was a member of DYSA. He was also member of the American Legion. Mr. Daniels enjoyed basketball, crosswords, listening to records and collecting coins.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents Curtis Daniels, Sr. and Faye Geraldine Williams; step-father, James A. Williams and brother, William T. Daniels.

Mr. Daniels is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patsy Manning Daniels; sons, Curtis Daniels III of Kenefick and James A. Daniels and Tiffany of Atascocita; daughters, Shelly R. Daniels of Kenefick and Kelly D. Daniels of Dayton; brother, John P. Daniels of Tyler; 6 grandchildren; Cameron, Caleb, Alex, Kayley, Jake and Taylor Daniels and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Curtis’ name to: FBC Choir Fund, First Baptist church, 202 E. Houston, Dayton, Texas, 77535.

Services are under the direction of Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Brown

Pheby Boyd Brown, 71 of Flatwoods, TX died Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Arboretuim in Winnie. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Anahuac Church of Christ. Local services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.

Pheby was a native of Flatwoods, TX and lived in Anahuac for the past year. She taught government for AISD from 1981 to 1987. After leaving AISD she worked for Fulbright Jaworskie Law Firm in Houston. She loved teaching and reading. Pheby felt her best accomplishment was teaching her students the quest for knowledge.

Pheby was preceded by her parents, Bennie David and Zona Creech Boyd; sisters, Anise Hickman, and Sue Hickman. Pheby is survived by her daughter, Pheby Monee Sorola; grandchildren, Adan Joseph Sorola, Angelica Pheby Sorola, Itzamary Gonzalez; sister, Jo Titsworth and a host of other family and friends.

Waldrop

Joseph Nelson Waldrop, 62, of Dayton died Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013 in Houston, Texas.

He was born January 2, 1951 in Houston, Texas to parents, Sidney Nelson Waldrop and Evelyn June Holbrook Waldrop. He grew up in Liberty, graduated from Liberty High School in 1970, and attended Sam Houston State University.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Liberty and the American Rice Growers of Dayton and Raywood. Joe was co-owner of Waldrop Brothers Farms. His passion for farming started at a young age and he had is first crop of soybeans in 1968 with his cousin Aaron Holbrook. He had farmed various crops over the last 40 plus years of rice, soybeans, grain sorghum, corn, and hay. When he was a little boy he had trouble keeping his grandpa Holbrook straight, as he was always loaning out Joe’s horse to various trail rides and Joe thought they would ruin his horse. Joe had a great knowledge of Liberty County genealogy. Whenever anyone needed to know a relation they would always call Joe. He also had his private pilot license at a young age and flew his grandfather’s plane. Joe had a love for old western swing music and enjoyed being with his family and friends.

Service for Joe will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, Liberty. Interment will follow at Cooke cemetery, Liberty under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Nelson Waldrop; his grandparents, Leonard Lee and Beulah Waldrop and A.C. and Ellen Holbrook. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Holbrook Waldrop of Madisonville; his brother: Allan Waldrop of Dayton; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Pamela New at Methodist Hospital for her kindness during Joe’s illness. For those who desire memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Smith

Thomas Roland Smith, 73, of Raywood died Friday, March 29, 2013 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas.

He was a loving brother, uncle, and friend.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 4, 2013 in the Chapel at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. A gathering of Tom’s family and friends will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the funeral home.

Tom was born September 16, 1939 to Woodrow and Johanna Smith. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 512 of Dayton, Texas.

He also loved the outdoors, doing vegetable and cattle farming.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Johanna Smith, and nieces; Donna Smith Greer, and Denise Smith.

Tom is survived by his brother, Woodrow C. Smith, Jr., and wife Denetta; nieces, Dianne Smith, Debbie Smith Mirrer, Deana Smith, Deidre Smith Carrico, and a host of other family and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of The American Legion Post 512 in Dayton, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The American Legion Building Fund for Post 512 in Dayton, Texas.
