Tullis

Melody Susan “Susie” Tullis, 47, of Hull, died on Monday July 25, 2011 at Memorial Hermann Medical Center in Houston.

She was born in Liberty Texas, October 8, 1963 and had lived in Hull, for most of her life before moving to Groves where she lived for six years. Susie was a member of The Central Baptist Church of Daisetta, and a school teacher for fifteen years at Hull-Daisetta school.

She was preceded in death by her mother Hannah Faye Hickman, grandparents, Edward and Lena Hickman.

Survivors are her husband Franklin Tullis of Groves, daughters, Lacy Wallace and fiancé Mical of Groves, Noel Wallace of Groves. Grandchildren Harley Wallace, James Thornton, Hailey Hale.

The family will be receiving friends on Thursday July 28, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Central Baptist Church of Daisetta. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday July 29, 2011 at 10:00A.M. at Central Baptist Church of Daisetta with Reverend Jim VanDorn officiating, with interment to follow at Guedry cemetery of Batson.

Geren

David Charles Geren, 49, of Dayton, died Monday, July 25, 2011, at the Liberty-Dayton Regional Medical Center in Liberty.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

David was born January 1, 1962, in Salinas, CA, to parents; Charles and Beverly Kenville Geren, a former resident of Liberty, and has resided in Dayton for the past two years. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, a clerk in the retail industry, and catholic by faith. He also enjoyed any type of sports activity.

Mr. Geren is survived by his wife of seven years: Charlotte Coates Geren of Dayton, daughters: Elizabeth Patton Tanner and husband Jerry of Batson and Diana Roth and husband Jacob of Batson, sons: Robert Patton and wife Dianne of FL and Richard Patton and wife Dana Neenan of Batson, parents: Charles and Beverly Kenville Geren of Salinas, CA, sisters: Cyndi Geren of Reno, NV, and Tina Geren of Reno. NV, nine grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Blake

Shirley Ruth Beard Blake died peacefully at home on Sunday, July 24, 2011.

She was 81. Shirley was born January 1, 1930 in Eddy, Texas to Bernard Oscar Beard and Icle Viola Torrence Beard. Shirley and her family then moved to Moody, Texas where she attended school and graduated from Moody High School in 1947. She then attended the University of Texas in Austin and decided to major in Business because her brother, Eugene, had attended UT on the GI Bill majoring in Business and she could use his books.

After graduation Shirley stayed in Austin, where she thought she’d live forever, and began working for the Texas Education Association. In January of 1952, Mr. Lockey, then Superintendent of Liberty ISD, came to Austin and was looking for a high school business teacher. Shirley, who had a choice of teaching in Sabinal or Liberty, chose Liberty and never left.

Shirley and Bobby married on June 13, 1953. She was always beside Bobby with a smile. They were married almost 47 years. Bobby died in April 2000, just 2 months shy of their anniversary. They were the parents of two daughters, Cindy and Kathy.

Shirley was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and served it well and in many capacities. A member of the Ladies’ Bible Class and former President of United Methodist Women for many years, Shirley was a great “church lady.”

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Dean Blake; brother, Eugene Beard; and sister, Norene Beard.

She is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Taylor and husband, Larry, of Boerne; Kathy Brunson and husband, Terry, of Liberty; three grandchildren that she adored, Eli Blake Rich and wife, Ashley, of Anahuac; Katie Taylor of Austin; and Jeb Rich of Liberty; and two great-grandchildren, Blaine and Jessyca Rich of Anahuac.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church Liberty, P. O. Box 469, Liberty, TX 77575.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 27, 2011 from 5pm until 8pm at Allison Funeral Service. Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 10AM at The First United Methodist Church of Liberty with burial to follow in Cooke Memorial cemetery of Liberty, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church Liberty, P. O. Box 469, Liberty, TX 77575.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas 77575.

Cauthorn

Billie Harold Cauthorn was born to William Nolan and Mildred Cauthorn on August 12, 1926 in Stringtown, Texas.

He died on July 23, 2011 in Liberty, Texas. Bill attended school in Fairview, Texas, after which he joined the Navy and was stationed in the South Pacific. While in the Navy, he worked on minesweeping ships and oil and gas transports. After the war, Bill was employed by Mobil Oil in Dallas and was sent with a maintenance construction gang to Cleveland, Texas. It was there that he met his wife, Ouida Emanuel. They were married on January 8, 1950. After 12 years with Mobil Oil, Bill accepted a position with Texas Gulf Sulphur, where he was employed for 33 years. After his retirement from there, he opened his own real estate company, Bill Cauthorn Reality. It was during this time, that he also became the chaplain for Liberty County Sheriff’s Department.

Bill has been a faithful and active member since 1952 of the Liberty Church of Christ where he later served as a deacon and church elder. He taught numerous Bible classes and he loved to tell others about the hope Christians have in Christ. Many became Christians after studying with “Brother Bill”.

Bill is survived by his wife, Ouida Emanuel Cauthorn; son, Kent and wife Carolyn of Garland, Texas; son, Deen of Dallas. Texas; grandson, Kyle and Miranda of Poetry, Texas; and great granddaughter, Jayden of Poetry, Texas; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

A gathering of Bill’s family and friends will be at Liberty Church of Christ, on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be at the church at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 under the direction of Allison Funeral Services in Liberty. Interment will follow in Concord cemetery in Rye, Texas.

The family would like to thank the many church members and friends for all of their prayers, cards, phone calls, food and visits during Bill’s illness and passing. They would also like to extend a very special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses, and Aids at the Liberty-Dayton Community Regional Hospital and Liberty Health Care Center. Their gentle care and concern will always be greatly appreciated.

Cashat

Johnny Cashat, 82, of Dayton, died on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Heritage Manor in Dayton. He was a loving brother and uncle.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 in Linney cemetery in Dayton. A gathering of Johnny’s family and friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Adia Duhon Cashat Sr., sisters, Lucille Cashat and Rosie Smikal; brother, Louis Cashat Jr.

Johnny is survived by his sisters, Lucy Pinkston, Mary Schmidt, and Lorene DeJohn; and a host of other family and friends.

Mosley

Funeral Service for Teri Shawn Mosley, 42, of Liberty, will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at 11:00 A.M., at Trinity Valley Missionary Baptist

Church with the Reverend Marvin O. Etheridge, Sr., Pastor, officiating with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery, Liberty. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 AM until time of service

A native of Liberty, Teri was born March 5, 1969. She attended public school in Liberty and was a graduate of Liberty High School’s Class of 1987. Teri was an employee of the Liberty Walmart for twenty-one years. She married Kevin Lynn Mosley on June 23, 2007. She passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Methodist Hospital-Houston after a long illness.

Ms. Mosley is preceded in death by a brother; Brian Keith Terrell.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband: Kevin Mosley, her mother: Mary Elizabeth Ford-Baldwin; her father: Eddie Burrell; four brothers: Ashley Chedane Baldwin, Travis Burrell, Eddie Burrell, Jr. and Adam Burrell; grandmother: Helen Gilbert and Lorene Stephenson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Arrangement entrusted to Wells Funeral Service, Liberty, TX.

Carlisle

Harry Carlisle, age 75, died Wednesday July 20, 2011 in Liberty, Texas.

Harry was born in San Diego, California Aug 24, 1935 the son of the late Keith Carlisle and Helen Outerside Carlisle. Harry enjoyed traveling, reading, target shooting, photography, and computing. Harry served in the U.S. Army for twenty-two years as an analyst and programmer. Harry and his wife were active members of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Liberty.

He was preceded in death by a son Harry Carlisle Jr.; daughter Dana Scott Carlisle; and a grandson Ryan Womack.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory a wife of thirty years Linda Carlisle; sons Brian Carlisle and his wife Debi, David Overcash, and Mark Overcash; daughters Christi Settegast and her husband Eden, Joni Carlisle, Lisa Carlisle, and Bonnie Lynn Volkle and her husband Kurt. In addition he leaves his grandchildren Alex Williams and her husband Nick, Erin Settegast and her husband Patrick Leiber, Allyson and Arline Volkle, Dana Settegast, Austin Gore, Jason Womack, Wendy Overcash, and a great grandchild, Harper Williams.

Visitation will be held Friday July 22, 2011 from 5-8 PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. Funeral Services are to be held 10 AM Saturday July 23, 2011 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Liberty. Burial to be held 10 AM Tuesday July 26, 2011 at Houston National cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church Friends-in-Deed Program as well as to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital Memphis, Tennessee in memory of his grandson Ryan Womack.

Fondren

Hubert Harmon Fondren, 81, of Votaw, died July 19, 2011 at the St. Lukes Episcopal Hospital in Houston.

He was born December 2, 1929 to Walter Fondren and Evy Roper Fondren in Corpus Christi. He was a resident of Votaw since 1984. He worked as a window installer for PPG Industries of Houston. Hubert was a member of the Baptist Faith attending First Baptist Church of Saratoga and Rainbow Baptist Church of Votaw He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Melvin Fondren; sister, Marie Everheart.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Jean Fondren of Votaw; son, Rocky Fondren and wife Debbie of Liberty; daughters, Sherry Clark and husband Jack of Channelview, Becky Burnett and husband Larry of Votaw, Janna Williams and husband Cliff of Votaw; brother, Herbert Fondren of Corpus Christi; fourteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

His family will receive friends at the Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel on Friday July 22, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday July 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel, with Reverend Clyde Summers.

Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Burnett, Jack Clark, J.D. Clark, Cliff Williams, Ryan Brinsfields and Danny Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Mapes and Vernon Mapes.

Hall

Joseph Wesley Hall, 87, of Batson, died on Monday July 18, 2011.

He proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of the Iron Workers Union Local 135. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish and hunt and to tend to his garden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Maggie Hall; brother, J.B. Hall.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Annie Odessa Hall of Batson; children, Susan Burkett and husband Jessie of Channelview, Terry Hall of Batson, Paula Williams and husband Dwayne of Woden, TX; grandchildren, Karen Welch and husband Jason of Galveston, Chris Lewis and wife Heidi of Temple, Terri Ann Hallman and husband Jay of Nashville, TN, Andrew Lewis of Woden, TX, Brandon Lewis of Woden, TX; great granddaughter, Sadie Welch of Galveston; sisters, Frances Winfrey of Livingston, Billie DeHass and husband Bud of Livingston.

His family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Service Chapel on Wednesday July 20, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A service of remembrance will be held Thursday July 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Faith and Family Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Lonnie Jordan. Burial will follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson.

Johnson

Mervin Johnson, 67, of Batson, died Monday July 11, 2011 at his residence in Batson.

A service of remembrance will be held on Friday July 15, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services with Reverend Frank Aragon officiating.

The family will be receiving friends also on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at Faith & Family, interment will follow at Guedry cemetery of Batson. Pallbearers are Johnathan Thompson, Ron Skarness, John Skarness, Chipper Shane, Steve Locke, D.J. O'Neal.

Mervin was born in Picayune Mississippi, on July 5, 1944 to his parents Emmitt Johnson and Lacy Lawrence Johnson.He had lived in Batson for about twenty-four years and had worked in the Trucking Industry as a driver before becoming disabled. Mervin was a Steel Guitar player for D.J. and the Country Boys with Rita band where they played in the area for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents Emmitt Johnson and Lacy Lawrence Johnson, brothers George Johnson, Melvis and Melvin Johnson, and Oscar Johnson. Sister Dorothy Rumsey and granddaughter Ashley Benoit.

Survivors are his wife of forty-two years Joy Johnson of Batson, sons Johnathan Thompson and wife Sarah of Nome, Billy Johnson of Florida. Daughters Charlotte Gilmore and husband Scotty of Daisetta, Leona Shane and husband Chipper of Saratoga. Brothers Reverend Adolph Johnson of Liberty, James Johnson of Hull, Raymond Johnson of Batson. Grandchildren Corey, Jason, Chassity, Miranda, Christopher, Josh, Dustin, Caleb. Great- Grandchildren Hayleigh, Adison, Payton

Waldrop

Drew Baby Waldrop, 84, of Dayton, died on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 with his family by his side. He was a loving husband, uncle, brother and friend.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 15, 2011 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will follow in Brookside Memorial Park. A gathering of Baby Drew's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home.

Baby Drew was preceded in death by his wife of 24 years, Marjorie Thompson Waldrop. Baby Drew was retired from Exxon after 30 years of service. Drew also served his county in the U.S. Air Force. Baby Drew loved traveling all over the U S. with Marjorie.

He is survived by his niece, Deborah Turner and husband, Oscar; and many other loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
