Gilcrease

Lavee “Pee Wee” Gilcrease, age 62, of Hardin, TX, died Monday in a Channelview Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 10 A.M. at Allison Funeral Service Chapel, with burial in the Palms cemetery, Dayton, TX. Reverend Alfred Smith will be officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, from 4:00 P.M., until 8:00 P.M.

Pee Wee was born on September 24, 1946, in Daisetta, TX to Roy Lee Gilcrease and Letha Elizabeth Laird.

Pee Wee was very special, and was loved by all who knew her. She was the first in line at the Bingo games, she made bracelets and necklaces and listening to country and western music.

Pee Wee is preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters: Jo Fregia, Dot West and Sandra Coggins. She is survived by her sisters, Marie Meeks and husband Roger of Hardin, TX, Joyce Fregia and husband Merle, of Hardin, TX, Elaine Fregia of Liberty, TX, and Jean Salvaggio of Austin, TX; brother, Roy Lee Gilcrease Jr. of Liberty, TX. Numerous nephews, nieces and great and great-great nephews and nieces also survive.

Harwell

Amanda Lynn Harwell, 35, of Hardin, died Saturday July 4, 2009 at the Liberty-Dayton Community Hospital in Liberty.

A native of Dallas she lived in Liberty for the past 8 years and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her father, Alfred Burks of Houston; her mother, Patricia Burks and fiancé Buddy of Houston; husband, Thomas Harwell of Hardin; son, David Michael Devers III of Hardin; sisters, Mary Ann Henk and husband Carl of Splendora, Teresha Jimenez and fiancé Mike of Dayton; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jimmy and Lynn Harwell of Hardin; her brother-in-law; Robert Harwell and wife Lona of Hardin; her sisters-in-law, Kasi Harwell of Hardin, Sarah Harwell and fiancé Dusty of Hardin, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who love her very much.

A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday July 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Hardin Methodist Church with Reverend Gideon Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Hardin cemetery located in Hardin. A gathering of family and friends will also be held Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements are being handled by Faith & Family Funeral Services of Batson, TX.

Hensley

Hazel Louise Hensley, 79, of Hardin, Texas, died Wednesday, July 6, 2009.

She was born on November 15, 1929 to the late Richard Howard Thorn and Marry Ella (Deaton) Thorn in Helmic, Texas.

Hazel is preceded in death by her loving husband, A.H. “Bud” Hensley; son, Richard Lee Simons; parents; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Brenda Thomas of LaPorte, Charline Goodrum and husband Ray of Huntsville, and Cynthia Collins and husband Sam of LaPorte; grandchildren, Gina Rawlings, Wayne Thomas, Shane Durdin, Blake Goodrum, Clayton Collins, and LeAnn Schultz; great-grandchildren, Kailey Rawlings, Chase Rawlings, Colby Durdin, Asya Hudson, Richard Schultz, and Skilar Thomas; daughter-in-law, Terri Haddad and husband Mitch of Pasadena; and numerous more relatives and close friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be from six until nine o’clock in the evening, Wednesday, July 8th in the Stateroom of Allison Funeral Service.

A celebration of life will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon at Allison Funeral Service on Thursday, July 8th with interment to follow in Hardin Chapel cemetery.

Final arrangements for Hazel have been entrusted to Allison Funeral Service 1101 N Travis St Liberty Texas 77575.

Vega-Sanchez

Raul Enrique Vega-Sanchez, 55, of Dayton, died Saturday, July 4, 2009, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Raul was born January 22, 1954 in San Turse, P.R., Mexico, to parents; Raul Vega and Aida Esther Sanchez, a former resident of Florida, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past three years. He was a self-employed truck driver, member of the Acres of Love Church, and enjoyed carpentry, mechanics, gardening, and basketball.

He is survived by his wife of seven years: Alfa Dalia Baez Gonzales of Dayton, daughters: Gisselh Guerrero of FL, Shayra Vega of Puerto Rico, Yanira Vega of FL, Naiomy Vega of Dayton, and Zulayra Vega of Puerto Rico, sons: Junior Vega of Puerto Rico and Orlando Guerrero of Mexico, brothers: Nelson Sanchez of IL, Robert Sanchez of IL, and Carlos Sanchez of IL, sisters: Mildred Sanchez of IL and Miriam Sanchez of IL, grandchildren: Avi and Aryahs, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Mouton

A Mass of Christian Burial for Charles N. Mouton, 71, of Raywood, Texas, will be held Wednesday July 8, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Raywood with the Rev. Father George Okeahialam, M.S.P., celebrant, with burial in Sacred Heart cemetery.

A native of Opelousas, Louisiana, he attended public school in Louisiana. He was a construction worker and a member of Sacred Heart Church.

He passed away Friday, July 3, 2009 at Triumph Hospital East, in Channelview, Texas.

Visitation will be held Wednesday 8:00 A.M. until time of service at the church.

He is survived by his wife: Mary Elta Mouton; one son: Charles N. Mouton, Jr., of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters: Claudia McBrayer of New Braunfels, Texas; and Charlotte Goudeau of Liberty, Texas; one brother: Michael Mouton of Opelousas, Louisiana; one sister: Ann Mouton, also of Opelousas; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ezer

Lee McAlister Ezer, 74, of Anahuac, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009.

She was born on September 25th 1934 to Sam Bronson and Leta Freeman McAlister in Woodville, Texas. Lee loved her family and loved spending time with them. She enjoyed all types of music, cooking, and hosting get-togethers. Lee was a member and past president of the ESA Sorority. She was also actively involved with a local Fine Arts Group, primarily in Literary and Drama.

Lee was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Sam William McAlister; and former husband, Sonny Ezer. She is survived by her son, Mike Ezer and wife Jackie of Plano; daughter, Lea Ann Ciavarra and husband Mike of Richmond; grandchildren, Zack Ezer, Nikki Ezer, Bronson Ciavarra, Colton Ciavarra, and Tyler Ciavarra; nieces, Cathy McAlister and Martha Black; sister-in-law, Francis McAlister; and the family would like to give a special thanks to Viola Smith for all of the love and companionship she has shown Lee over the years.

A visitation for family and friends will be from six until eight o’clock in the evening Sunday, July 5th at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Anahuac at ten o’clock in the morning Monday, July 6th with interment to follow in Anahuac cemetery. For those desiring, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Anahuac. Arrangements for Lee have been entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home 1201 S Main St, Anahuac, Texas 77514.

Blair

Sherwood Blair, 94, of Hankamer, Texas, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009 in St. Luke’s Hospital.

Sherwood was born in DeLeon, Texas April 16, 1915 the son of the late Joe Jeff Blair and Buna Carr Blair.

Mr. Blair dedicated his life to his country, community, and most important his family. He served his country as a gunnery instructor in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

He retired from Chambers County Appraisal District as Chief Appraiser in June 1933; he served 38 years in County Offices. He was Commissioner for 7 years, Tax Assessor-Collector for 38 years. He held both Chief Appraiser and Tax Assessor positions for 3 of the 38 years. As Commissioner he helped secure and erect Anahuac’s first City and County street signs. While in office he was President and or Past President 15 different Tax Associations, as well as, a Fellow of Institute of Certified Texas Assessors.

Mr. Blair was also a member of various local organizations. He was a Master Mason for 69 years, past president of the Lions Club, a 48 year member of American Legion Post 104. He was also an honorary member of the Anahuac FFA Chapter. He was Chairman of the Chambers County Youth Project Show for the first 15 years of existence. He chaired the first Farm Bureau Youth Day activities which evolved into the Chambers County Youth Project Show. He organized and is a charter member of the East Chambers County Farm Bureau and participated in merging the East and West County Farm Bureau into the Chamber County Farm Bureau. He served as Secretary for 20 years. He was a founder and served as a board member of Anahuac National Bank for 30 years.

Sherwood enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Opal Blair Reidel and LaVern Groves; brother, J.B. Blair; daughter, Sandy Blair Clamon; son-in-law, Charles Allen Dye; and his loving wife of 66 years, Betty Whatley Blair. He is survived by his daughter, Sherwood Kaye Dye of Anahuac; two grandchildren, Clay Allen Dye and wife Shannon and Courtney Blair Allen and husband Michael; his beloved great-grandsons, Cade Allen Dye, Sherwood “Garrett” Dye and Marshall “Dean” Allen, all of Hankamer. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A visitation for family and friends will be from six until eight o’clock in the evening Monday, July 6th at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Graveside services will be held in Anahuac cemetery at ten o’clock in the morning Tuesday, July 7th. His pastor, Len Shoemaker of Hankamer Community Fellowship will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Anahuac cemetery Association, PO Box 926 Anahuac, Texas 77514 are appreciated. Arrangements for Mr. Blair have been entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home 1201 S Main St Anahuac, Texas 77514.

Webb

Edward “Buster” Webb, 81, of Liberty, died Friday July 3, 2009 at Liberty Health Care in Liberty.

Born in Groesbeck, TX, he had lived in Liberty about 30 years. Buster was Owner and operator of E.R. Webb Construction Company in Baytown, and also a Homebuilder in the Liberty and Baytown area.

He is survived by his wife; Earlene Webb of Liberty; sons: Jerry George and friend Denise of Independence KY, James ”Joe” George of Liberty, Mark George and wife Catherine of Liberty. Daughters: Francis Schmidt of Fairfield, TX, Sherry “Sharon” Wolf and husband Jerry of Liberty, Wanda “Sissy” Holmes and husband Doug of Batson, Jayna Swarthout and husband Jim of Liberty. Brothers: Jesse Webb and wife Laura of Groesbeck, B.L. Webb and wife Wanda of Groesbeck. Sister: Lillie Roe and husband Maurice of Limestone Co.

Grandchildren are: Jerry “JJ” Wolf Jr, Clinton Wolf, Jeff Wiggins, Jennifer Wiggins Quinn, Randall George, Megan Schmidt, Angela, Sarah, and Sydney George, Alissa Swarthout, Kristen and Megan Lutz, Erica Hassien step grandson; Darryl Holmes and step granddaughter: Laura Matthews; 15 Great Grandchildren.

A service of remembrance will be held Monday July 6, 2009 at 10:00A.M. At Faith & Family Funeral Services 40847 Hwy 105 E. Batson. The family will be receiving friends Sunday July 5, 2009 beginning at 5:00 P.M. Until 9:00 at Faith & Family.

Rivon

Funeral Service will be held for Corine Rivon, 93, of Anahuac, Texas, on Friday, July 3, 2009, at Bright Light Baptist Church, Bayshore, Texas at 1:00 P.M. with the Reverend Lester Speights, pastor officiating, with burial in Rivon cemetery, Anahuac.

A native of Anahuac, she attended public school in Anahuac. She was a domestic worker and a member of Bright Light Baptist Church.

She died Monday, June 29, 2009 at Bayside Community Hospital.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.

She is survived by one son: Richard Smith, Sr, of Anahuac; two daughters: Ellestine Jones of Winnie and Susie Lewis of Hankamer and a host of other relatives and friends.

Franklin

John H. Franklin, Jr., age 46, of Anahuac, died Monday, June 29, 2009 at Memorial Herman Hospital.

John was born in Liberty, Texas, January 14, 1963 the son of John H. Franklin Sr. and Shirley A. (Plummer) Franklin. He was a commercial fisherman who loved football, to play pool, and to fish. John was also a very talented artist who loved to sketch pencil drawings.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Ethel Sunday, Clifford Plummer, Jim Franklin and his wife Cora Plummer Franklin.

He leaves his parents, John H. Franklin Sr. and Shirley Franklin of Anahuac, sons David Allen Franklin and Jonathon Franklin, sister Deborah Franklin of Anahuac, and a grandson Bradley. In addition he leaves numerous nieces and nephews. John will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation for John will be held Thursday from 2-4pm at Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main, Anahuac. A funeral service will be held at 4 pm Thursday at the Funeral Home.

Porter

John David Porter, 48, of Houston, Texas, died Sunday, June 28, 2009. He was born on December 19, 1960 to Robert Carl and Charldine (Martin) Porter, Sr. in Houston, Texas. John enjoyed fishing and working on his truck. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it.

John is preceded in death by his father, Robert Carl Porter, Sr.; maternal grandfather, Roy Martin; and paternal grandmother, Robbie Lee Martin. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Baker-Porter; mother, Charldine Porter of Barbers Hill; step-son, Brent Baker of Houston; brothers, Robert Tooter Porter, Jr. of Barbers Hill and Michael Pete Garner and wife Jennie of Hankamer; sisters, Melissa Missy Malecheck and husband Lyle of Barbers Hill and Melinda Pooh Haschki and husband Paul of Barbers Hill; mother-in-law, Mary Baker of Spring; brother-in-law, Jimmy Baker of Spring; grandmother, Claudia Martin of Pearland; nieces and nephews, Chase, Macy and Kaly Malecheck and Carly and Kinsy Haschki; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be from six until eight o’clock in the evening Wednesday, July 1st at Sterling Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at ten o’clock in the morning Thursday, July 2nd at Reeves cemetery in Old River. Arrangements for John have been entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N Main St Dayton, Texas 77535.

Lawson

Funeral Service will be held for Earnest “Koochie” Lawson, 61, of Liberty, Texas, on Friday, July 3, 2009, at St. Miles Missionary Baptist Church, Ames, Texas at 11:00 A.M. with the Reverend Dwight Pruitt, officiating, with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery, Liberty.

A native of Liberty, he was a graduate of West Liberty High School, a pipefitter, a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of St. Miles Missionary Baptist Church.

He died on Monday, June 29, 2009 at his residence.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the church.

He is survived by his wife, Ada M. Lawson of Liberty, one son: Ronnie Lawson of Liberty; one daughter: Samantha Caldwell of Liberty; two sisters: Jo Ann Phillips of Stephenville, Texas and Janice Polk of Channelview, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.

Frady

Billy Fred Frady, 65, of Dayton, died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Billy was born June 13, 1944 in Odessa, to parents; Ira Chester and Geraldine Harvey Frady, a former resident of Baytown, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past five years. He was a veteran of the US Navy with service during Vietnam, a security guard at Mt. Belvieu Plastics Plant for five years, life member of the Baytown VFW Post #912, and enjoyed genealogy, the internet, fishing, reading, scuba and sky diving, and martial arts.

Mr. Frady was preceded in death by his daughter: Dana Houston and sister: Claudette Orbison. He is survived by his wife of 34 years: Diane Grau Frady of Dayton, son: Wesley Frady and wife Trisha of Sugar Land, grandchildren: Stephanie M. and Wesley Frady, Jr. both of Sugar Land, parents: Ira C. and Geraldine Harvey Frady of Crosby, sister: Paulette Frady Viator and husband Percy E. of Crosby, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of usual floral arrangements the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
