Smith

Johnny Robert Smith, Sr., 67, of Hardin, Texas died Monday, February 9, 2009.

He was born on September 22, 1941 to Edgar Adam and Myrtle Rose Smith in Beaumont, Texas. Johnny was a hardworking roughneck that was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He loved spending time with all of his family. He was an honest man that was a hero to his family.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elaine Smith McCormick; and brothers, Edgar Adam Smith, Jr., Bobby Joe Smith, Arthur Lee Smith, Willard Wayne Smith, and Wilber Lee Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of over 45 years, Johnnie Sue Smith; sons, Johnny Robert Smith, Jr. of Liberty and Robert Glenn Smith of Hardin; brothers, Don Lester Smith and wife Gwen of Lumberton, Freeman Smith and wife JoAnn of Nederland, and Jerry Ray Smith and wife Glenda of Liberty; sisters, Ruby Jean Francois and husband Tommy of Canton, Judy Alice Pope of Longview, and Betty Jean Gable and husband Billy of Jasper; grandchildren, Travis Leland Smith, Heather Smallwood and husband Zack, Jonathon Manuel Smith, Robert Allen Smith, and Kenleigh Shae Smith; great-granddaughter, Codie Emma Ruth Smith; and loved chauweenie, Queenie.

The family would like to thank everyone at Dubuis Health Systems for everything they did for Johnny.

A visitation for family and friends will be at Allison Funeral Service from five until eight o’clock in the evening Wednesday, February 11th. A service of remembrance will be held at ten o’clock in the morning Thursday, February 12th at Allison Funeral Service with interment to follow at one o’clock in the afternoon in Restlawn cemetery in Vidor, Texas.

Final arrangements for Johnny have been entrusted to Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N Travis, Liberty, Texas 77575. 936.336.6418.

Tevis

Josie Tevis, age 106, of Liberty, died on February 8, 2009 at the Woodwind Lakes Nursing Home in Houston.

A visitation of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, February 11th from 11 A.M until 12:30 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis in Liberty. A private Rosary will be held at 1 P.M. at the Immaculate Conception Church.

Born on July 13, 1902 in Liberty to parents, David and India Tevis, she was the youngest of nine children. She lived on the family farm until 1935 when her father died and the family moved to town. They built the house on Kentucky Street where Josie lived until she was 103 years old. Of special interest, in 1837 Josie’s great-grandparents, Noah and Nancy Tevis donated fifty acres of their land to help lay out the town of Beaumont. Josie worked at the Grand Leader, Tommy Blake’s Grocery and Williamson’s Plumbing during her working years. Josie was a longtime member Immaculate Conception Church in Liberty.

Josie is preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters.

She is survived by her great-nephew, Richard Buford of Houston; great-niece, Francis Etheridge of Corpus Christi and numerous great-great nieces and nephews. A host of friends also survive.

Arrangements were under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575 936-336-6418.

Johnson

Willie Ray Johnson, Sr., 75, of Hull, died Saturday February 7, 2009 at Liberty Health care Center of Liberty.

A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at 2:00 P.M.At Mount Calvary Baptist Church-Marysee of Moss Hill with Pastor Carlton Bailey officiating.

Internment will follow at Abshire cemetery in Hankamer.

The family will be receiving friends Tuesday, February 10, 2009 from 6:00 P.M. Until 9:00 P.M.and Wednesday morning starting at 9:00A.M. Until time of service at the church.

Born in Raywood TX, Willie was a self employed photographer and a U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by Son; Willie Ray Johnson Jr, Parents; Willie Earl Johnson and Lena Raye McKinley Johnson, and Brother; Jerry B. Johnson. Survivors are Wife; Mary Ann Johnson of Hull, Son; Terry Johnson and wife Lella of Wallisville, Daughters; Becky Adams and husband Ralph of Cypress TX, Melissa Richards of Hardin, Michele Johnson of Deer Park, Daughter-in- law; Katrina Johnson of Seguin, TX. Sisters; Bobbie J Johnson of Liberty, Janette Carrell of Houston. Grandchildren; 9. Great grandchildren; 1.

Kourie

Charlene Marcia Fisher Kourie, 85, of Dayton, Texas, was born September 27, 1923 in Liberty, Texas, to her parents Charles William Fisher, Sr. and Florence Parthenia Calhoon Fisher and died in Dayton, Texas, on February 6, 2009.

She graduated from Liberty High School in 1940 and attended the Texas State College for Women in Denton, Texas and the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Liberty, Texas.

Having lived in Liberty most of her life, she worked at the Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center as a research assistant in the archives from 1977 until retirement in1995. She was honored by the Texas State Library System by being selected as one of the 1994 Employees of the First Quarter.

Charlene was cited for her notable, meritorious service to the patrons of the Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center. In her eighteen years of loyal service, she had personally assisted an estimated 150,000 patrons.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Flo Fisher Locke, and brother Charles William Fisher, Jr.

Charlene is survived by her son Jack Kourie of Dayton, Texas; sisters Mildred Fisher Cannan of Willis, Texas and Charlotte Fisher Finley and husband Bruce K. Finley of St.Hedwig, Texas, sister-in-law Barbara Holcombe Fisher of Liberty, Texas and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

Graveside services and interment at the Liberty City cemetery will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday February 8, 2009, under the direction of Allison Funeral Home with the Reverend Jay Barnes officiating.

Pallbearers will be: E. B. Cannan, Jr., W.L. Cannan, Wayne Finley, Charles William Fisher, III, David Fisher, Danny Allen, George Brown, and Robert Schaadt.

Honorary Pallbearers are: Bruce K. Finley and Thomas F. Calhoon, III

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be made to the Sam Houston Regional Library or the First Methodist Church of Liberty.

King

Cortez “Ernest” King, age 91, died Thursday at his son’s home.

He was born in Floydada, Texas, October 30, 1917 the son of the late Emory Joseph King and Myrtle Bessie (Crabb) King. Ernest was one of the original members of the Anahuac Volunteer Fire Department and was instrumental in the creation of the Anahuac Emergency Corp. Ernest served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII as an Airplane and Engine Mechanic. He was a past graduate of Anahuac High School and last worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Chambers County.

He was preceded in death by his wife Irene King, brothers, Carl, Joseph, Frank, and Willie King. He leaves behind his children, Jeanette K. Smith and her husband Donnie of Anahuac, Walter Richard King and his wife Linda of Rio Frio, Texas, and Deborah Hughes of Baytown. His sister Marian Brade of Gatesville, TX, and his brothers George King and his wife Lena Mae of Anahuac, and Sam King of Gatesville, TX. In addition he leaves behind seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held Monday February 9, 2009 from 1-3pm at the First Baptist Church of Anahuac, with funeral services to be held at 3pm. Burial to follow in Anahuac cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Anahuac cemetery Association, PO Box 926 Anahuac, Texas 77514

The Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main, Anahuac, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Barnhart

Diana Lynn Barnhart, 64, of Batson, was born February 29, 1944 in Austin, Texas and died Tuesday February 3, 2009.

She was preceded in death by Son; Eddie Lannom. Survivors: are Husband Larry Barnhart of Batson, Sons: Trey Lawless of Tomball, Shane Lannom of Batson, Richard Lannom of Dayton, Daughters: Shelly Main of Katy, RuDonna Coates of Virginia and Misty Lannom of Saratoga, Brother: Mike Smith of Leander, Texas. Sisters: Judy Savoie of Florida, Pat York of Mutagora, Texas and Susan of Huffman, Texas. Grandchildren: 10.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday February 7, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Batson Prairie Baptist Church in Batson.

Jenkins

Funeral services for Douglas Jenkins, Sr., 64, of Liberty, will be held Saturday February 7, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Valley Baptist Church, Liberty, Pastor Marvin Etheridge, with Rev. Keith L. Turner, officiating, with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery under the direction of Wells Funeral Service, Liberty.

A native of Liberty, he was a member of Valley Community Bible Church and was previously employed with the City of Liberty. A graduate of West Liberty High School.

Douglas died January 29, 2009 at Faith Community Hospice.

Visitation was held Saturday morning from 9:00 A.M. until time of service.

He is survived by two sons: Douglas Jenkins, Jr. of Liberty and Charles Larry Jenkins of Chicago, Illinois; five daughters: Monique Jenkins, Lythia Jenkins, and Toni Brown, all of Liberty, and Tesha McDonald and Celicia McDonald, both of Diboll, Texas; two sisters; Helen Mixon and Alma West, both of Houston, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends

Randile

Funeral service for Jimmie Randile, 45, of Liberty, Texas, will be held Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Miles Baptist Church, Ames, Texas, with the Reverend Pastor Raphael Montgomery, officiating, with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery under the direction of Wells Funeral Service, Liberty, Texas.

A native of Liberty Jimmie was a graduate of the 1981 Class of Liberty High School. Jimmie moved to Houston in 1986 but retained his membership with St. Miles Baptist Church. He was employed in the Texas Medical Center for several years.

He died February 2, 2009 at a long illness.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 A. M. until time of service.

He is survived by his mother; Mrs. Elizabeth Randile, five brothers: Vernon Randile, Gary Lynn Randile, both of Liberty, Darryl Murray of Duncanville, Texas, Ray Douglas Randile of Bryan, Texas, and Arthur Randile III of Houston, Texas; two sisters: Belinda St. Julian of Ames, Texas and Kathy Edwards, of Frisco, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends

Fore

Robert Wayne Fore, Sr., age 51, died suddenly in Louisiana.

Robert was born February 18, 1957 the son of Rex Wayne Fore of Liberty and the late Patsy Ruth Cartwright Fore. He will be remembered as a loving father, hard worker, quarterback, and world class welder. A Liberty, Texas, native he played quarterback in High School and was a good athlete. He worked offshore as a welder, spending time as well in foreign countries working.

Besides his father, he leaves behind his sons Anthony Fore of Camarillo, CA, Robert Wayne Fore Jr. of Houston, TX and Cash Fore of Amarillo, TX. Robert also leaves his sisters Patricia Mackey, Donna K. Mackey, Rhonda Sue Fugate, and Deborah Silva. In addition he leaves one grandson Ethan Fore and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members who, “miss you and will see you in time, love your family.”

A memorial service will be held Saturday 10am at the Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main, Dayton.

Sears

Melvin Clinton Sears, Jr., 82, of Dayton, died Sunday, February 1, 2009 at the Hearn Health Care Center in Bryan.

He was born September 13, 1926 in Mineral Wells, Texas to parents: Melvin Clinton Sears, Sr. and Idell Walker Sears. Mr. Sears proudly served his country during World War II in the Army, the Air Force, and the Marines. He had lived in the Dayton area for the past 30 years and had worked as a welder for H B Zachery. Mr. Sears was a past member of the Liberty Church of Christ. He enjoyed working in his yard, growing a garden, and listening to all kinds of music. He was known to never be idle, always keeping himself busy and never met a stranger.

Memorial Service for Mr. Sears will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Dayton, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, sisters, his daughter: Jonell Sears and his grandson: Steven Sears. He is survived by his daughters: Vickey Dudley and husband Steve of Center, Linda Remedies and husband Robert of Pasadena; his sons: Ronnie W. Sears of Houston and John L. Sears of Tenaha; his 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Barnett

James I. Barnett, 81, of Crosby, died Saturday, January 31, 2009, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2009, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at a later date. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

James was born November 27, 1927, in Carlisle, to parents; Issac Lambert and Nancy A. Hilton Barnett, a former resident of Baytown, and has resided in the Crosby area for the past 52 years. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps with service during WW II, a retired forklift operator from Amsco of Houston, and enjoyed his yard and tinkering.

Mr. Barnett was preceded in death by his parents, son: James Franklin Barnett, grandson: Jeremy Barnett, one brother, and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of 58 years: Erma L. Laster Barnett of Crosby, sons: Ronald Barnett and wife Daisy of Pasadena and Arnold Barnett and wife Cindy of Chowchilla, CA, daughters: Linda Sutton and husband Terry of Van Buren, AR, Glenda Howe and husband Jerry of Highlands, and Connie Barnett of Van Buren, AR, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

McFall

Kevin Ronald McFall, 49, of Dayton, died Monday, February 2, 2009 at home after an extended illness.

He was born November 23, 1959 in Buffalo, New York to parents Edward McFall and Mary Mesmer. He lived in Dayton for the past 20 years after moving from Baytown. Mr. McFall had worked as a mechanic for Chemical Inc. in Mont Belvieu. He enjoyed cars, fishing, and playing horse shoes.

Services for Mr. McFall will be 4:00 p.m Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at 5:00 to 9:00 p.m Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward McFall and Mary Fagner and is survived by his sisters and brothers: Reno Kelly and husband Arthur of New York, Theresa Stine of Arizona, Mary Sheridan and husband Cleo of Dayton, Edward Jr. McFall and wife Linda of Arizona, Michael McFall of Arizona, David Addington of Arizona, Kenny Addington of Arizona, Lauri Addington of Tennessee and numerous nieces and nephew.
