Janie E. Harris
Services for Janie E. Harris, 70, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Pat H. Foley Funeral Home in Houston. Interment will follow at Rosewood Cemetery.
Mrs. Harris died Saturday in Palestine.
She was born July 25, 1931 to William D. Harding Sr. and Edna Bailey Harding.
Mrs. Harris was a longtime resident of Houston. She retired after 25 years of service with Foleys Department Stores.
She was preceded in death by son, James Earl Harris Jr.
Mrs. Harris is survived by daughters, Janie Earlene Munsinger and Nancy Eleanor Beyer, both of Houston, and Barbara Ann Homann of Palestine; sister, Dorothy Thompson of Friendswood; brothers, William D. Harding Jr. and Leonard Harding, both of Buchanan Dam, Adrin Harding of Spring Branch and Charles Harding of Spring; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Jessie Galyean
Funeral arrangements for Jessie Galyean, 87, are pending at Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Galyean died this morning at Wood Memorial Nursing Home in Mineola.
Marcus Deshawn Brown
Funeral arrangements for Marcus Deshawn Brown, 22, formerly of Palestine, are pending at Emanuel Funeral Home.
Mr. Brown died Sunday morning from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Eleanor Frix
Services for Eleanor Frix, 87, of Palestine will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Dr. Barry Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Percilla.
Mrs. Frix died Thursday at her residence in Palestine.
She was born Nov. 11, 1914 in Percilla to B.E. Elliott and Lou Ella McKenzie Elliott.
Mrs. Frix was a homemaker and attended the Evangelistic Temple.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Erma Lou Bishop and Edythe Wagstaff; and two brothers, Pete Elliott and Earl Elliott.
Mrs. Frix is survived by her husband of 60 years, Forrest Frix of Palestine; daughters, Glenda Johnson of Palestine and Arlena Lay of Waco; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mattie Hendrix
Services for Mattie Hendrix, 87, of Palestine will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Jay Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park.
Mrs. Hendrix died Friday in the Greenbrier Nursing Center.
She was born May 25, 1915 in Crockett to Frank C. and Lilly Grounds Graham.
Mrs. Hendrix was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Hendrix, in 1960.
Mrs. Hendrix is survived by a daughter, Patricia Hendrix of Palestine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Oleta C. Elrod
Funeral arrangements for Oleta C. Elrod, 72, of Palestine are pending at Herrington/Land of Memory.
Mrs. Elrod died Friday afternoon in a Tyler hospital.
Jim Bunch
Services for Jim Bunch, 62, of Oakwood, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Jamie Duplichan and David Braun officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Bunch died Tuesday morning at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 4, 1939 in Marshall to James Clifford Bunch Sr. and Frances Weekley Bunch.
Mr. Bunch was a corporate pilot.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Phillip Bunch.
Mr. Bunch is survived by his wife, Sherry Bunch of Oakwood; daughters, Deborah Seese of Alvin and Gina Bunch of Oklahoma; sons, Jimmy Wayne Bunch and Nathan Bunch, both of Houston, Donald Gene Bunch of Marshall and Clifford Bunch of Texas City; brothers, John “Jackie” Bunch of Marshall and Larry Bunch of Longview; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday before the services.
Joseph H. Tomasso
Services for Joseph H. Tomasso, 51, of Frankston, and formerly of Pennsauken, N.J., were held at 11 a.m. today at the Church of St. Celia in Pennsauken. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Cemetery in Palestine.
Mr. Tomasso died Sunday in Pennsauken, N.J.
He was employed as an electrical engineer. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church.
Mr. Tomasso is survived by his wife, Margaret “Maggie”; his mother, Rita; sons, Vincent Tomasso, Rocco Tomasso, and Alex Tomasso, all of Pennsauken, N.J., and Matthew Hootsell of Natchez, Miss.; daughters, Andrea Kaliss, Christina Tomasso, and Emily Tomasso, all of Pennsauken, and Jennifer Hootsell of Frankston; sister, Michelle Markovitz; and one grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to St. Cecilia’s Church, 4824 Camden Ave., Pennsauken, N.J., 08110, or a local animal shelter.
Margurite Inez O’Neal
Services for Margurite Inez O’Neal, 82, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Roselawn Park with the Rev. Alan Van Hooser officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. O’Neal died this morning at Cartmell Home for the Aged.
She was born Oct. 16, 1919, in Bienville Parish, La. to James Robert and Mary Nelson McDonald.
Mrs. O’Neal was a self-employed secretary. She was a member of Westwood United Methodist Church, and was associated with the Palestine Bowling League.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Welch O’Neal, in 1991; and daughter, Peggy Richardson.
Mrs. O’Neal is survived by sons, Michael James O’Neal of Sacramento, Calif. and Steven Richardson of Louisiana; daughters, Tammy Richardson Smith of Oakwood and Cheryl Richardson Benson of Tyler; sister, Nelda Marshall of New Mexico; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Joe Ed Steely

Mr. Steely died Tuesday night at Silver Hills Nursing Center in Montgomery.
R.F. Boyd

Bettye L. High
Services for Bettye L. High, 62, of Neches, and formerly of Tyler, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Liberty Baptist Church in Tyler, 3009 Grand St. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. M.D. Hood officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home, Palestine.
Mrs. High died Sunday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 28, 1940, in Colfax, La. to Fred and Willie Dee Davis Pinkey.
Mrs. High received her primary education from Colfax Elementary School and graduated from Emmett J. Scott High School in Tyler in 1958. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Tyler and attended Evangelistic Temple in Palestine. She owned and operated Bettye’s Terrific Shop for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. High is survived by her husband, Leo High of Neches; son, Darwin B. Cain of Arlington; daughters, Janet F. Cain of Dallas and Lazonlla M. Pinchem of Arlington; brothers, Willie F. Pinkney, Donald Pinkney, Henry Pinkey and Harvey Pinkney, all of Tyler, and Billy Pinkney of Dallas; sisters, Doris McClarty, Helen Richardson, Linda Jones of Oakland, Calif., Monita McGhee, Carolyn Toliver and Patricia Byrd, of Dallas; and one granddaughter.
Lesley Brock
Services for Lesley Brock, 84, of Elkhart will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Michael Mynatt officiating. A military graveside service will be held at Crawford Cemetery in Elkhart following the chapel service. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Brock died at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday at Spring Season Nursing Home in Elkhart.
He was a twin, born Feb. 4, 1919 in Gordonville, Texas to Martin and Etta Brock.
Mr. Brock was a member of the Norwood Heights Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3907 and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Battery A 96th Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion during World War II.
He married his wife Myra on March 28, 1994. He was a loving husband, friend and companion to Myra and adopted her family into his heart as his own.
Mr. Brock was preceded in death by sister, Pearl McCoy LaBeth; brothers, Haskell, Buddy and Richard Lee; and twin brother, Wesley.
He is survived by his wife, Myra Brock of Elkhart; sister, Lucille Foster of Beaumont; brother, Manuel Brock of Noonday; five children; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be his brothers in service of the Disabled American Veterans.
Honorary pallbearers will be Archie Brock, Bobby Brock, Dickie Brock, Gary Brock, Billy Prock and Kenneth Skaggs.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Mary Marie Harris
Services for Mary Marie Harris, 36, of Mexia, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Taylor Chapel Church of God in Christ in Wortham. Burial will follow at Wortham Cemetery under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home of Teague.
Mrs. Harris died Sunday in Mexia.
She was born Nov. 20, 1966, in Corsicana to Melvin and Varla Mae Goodson Harris.
Mrs. Harris received her education from the Wortham public schools and McKinney Job Corp. She was employed as a home health care provider. She was a member of Taylor’s Chapel COGIC.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Davion D. Harris; and sister, Callie May Harris.
Mrs. Harris is survived by her fiancé, Kenneth Gardner of Mexia; daughter, Tamika N. Harris of Mexia; god-daughter, Felicia Jones; brother, Jay Goodson; sister, Cathy Harris; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Jimmie H. Tubbs
Services for Jimmie H. Tubbs, 82, will be at noon Saturday at Lone Star Baptist Church in Oakwood. Burial will follow at Lone Star Cemetery in Oakwood under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home.
Mr. Tubbs died Thursday at Dogwood Trails Nursing Center in Palestine.
He was born Aug. 15, 1920, to Oliver Hughes and Annie Mae Parks.
Mr. Tubbs was reared by Jim Tubbs of Buffalo. He attended Buffalo public schools. He was a member of New St. Holland Baptist Church and later joined lone Star Baptist Church. He was employed by Missouri Pacific Railroad for 43 years before retiring.
He was married to the late Bessie Mae Gilford and later married Lee Bertha Durham in 1957.
Mr. Tubbs was preceded in death by his first wife; and daughter, Jimmie Ann Tubbs.
He is survived by his wife, Lee Bertha Tubbs of Oakwood; sons, Donald Ray Tubbs of Dallas, Mack Edward Tubbs of DeSoto, Jimmy Tubbs Jr. of Norman, Okla. and Jerry Tubbs of Temple; brother, Largel Tubbs of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters, Vera Jenkins of Cleveland, Ohio and Marceal Williams of Buffalo; stepsister, La Pearl Landers of Kansas City, Mo.; and 14 grandchildren.
