George Allen Good
GLADEWATER - Graveside services for George Allen Good, 66, of Gladewater were held at Gladewater Memorial Park on Friday, May 22, 1998, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Terrill Pearson officiating. Mr. Good was born on March 17, 1932, in Georgetown, Ark. He died on May 20, 1998, at his residence. A resident of Gladewater for 31 years, he was retired from J.O. Williams Ford Co. He is survived by one son, Timothy Wayne Good of Palestine; two daughters, Evelyn Marie Good of Tatum and Angie Elizabeth Good Hill of Longview; one stepdaughter, Paula B. Wells of Gladewater; two grandchildren, Rebecca Crystal Marie Good and Richard Allen Hill; two brothers, Carl Good of Longview and Eugene Good of Midland; and two sisters, Mary Good Carter of Gilmer and Margaret Good Clark of Laneville. Mr. Good was preceded in death by his wife, Jean O. Wells Good, and one son, George Bradley Good. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Longview.

Deb Gounah
OVERTON - Services for Deb Gounah, 42, of New London will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the London Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert C. Jones Sr. and the Rev. Atwell Hankins officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery near New London. Arrangements are by Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home of Overton. Mrs. Gounah died Saturday. Visitation is 4-6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Evelyn Gathright Holley
KILGORE - Graveside services for Evelyn Gathright Holley, 86, of Kilgore will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Henderson Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Tony Roling officiating. Arrangements are by Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore. Mrs. Holley died Monday in Kilgore. She owned and operated the Dairy Freeze on Texas Highway 42 and was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.

James A. 'Jim' McCann
Memorial services for James A. "Jim" McCann, 83, of Longview were held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 22, 1998, at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Al Rodriguez and Verger John C. Murphy officiating. He died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, at his residence. Mr. McCann was born Sept. 28, 1914, in Shreveport, La., where he grew up and attended school and St. Mark's Episcopal Church. He had worked in his father's tire business before becoming service manager of Firestone Tire in Shreveport. He came to Longview Feb. 1, 1938, as the youngest manager of a Firestone store in the United States. Then he and his father, James McCann Sr., opened McCann Tire Service in Longview. After a devastating fire there in 1954, he became a manager of General Tire Store until his retirement. He married his wife, Frances Magbee, in 1937. Mr. McCann was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where he served on the vestry and as a junior warden. He was also a former member and president of the Longview Jaycees, a former member of the Longview Rotary Club and a Mason. He was on the committee who brought the Very Rev. Dr. Michael C. Macey to Longview. Mr. McCann was preceded in death by his daughter, Martha Ferguson. He is survived by his wife, Frances McCann of Longview; a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Carol McCann of Huntington Beach, Calif.; his grandchildren, Susan and Bert Allen, Robert Ferguson, Tracy McCann and Paige and Kyle Medlin; his great-grandchildren, Jennifer Allen, Brian and Kim Allen, Michelle Ferguson, Randy Ferguson, and Brendon and Colton Medlin; two great-great-granddaughters; and many friends. The family will received friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 21, at Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church or to Hospice of Longview.

B.F. Pierce
MARSHALL - Graveside services for B.F. Pierce, 59, of Marshall will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Algoma cemetery South in Marshall with the Rev. Bobby Moore officiating. Arrangements are by Sullivan Family of Funeral Directors. He died Tuesday. Survivors include his wife, Annie; two sons, Larry and John Pierce; two daughters, Jana Santiago and Cynthis Harrell; and six grandchildren.

Janna Robbins
Funeral services for Janna Robbins, 53, of Longview will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Al Rodriquez officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Park cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Janna Robbins, beloved wife and mother, and prominent civic leader, died after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, May 25, 1998, at Good Shepherd Medical Center. A descendant of a noted Oklahoma family, she was born on Nov. 30, 1944, in Madill, Okla., to Oteka and Reuel Little. She was a graduate of the Hockaday School in Dallas, Texas, and received her bachelor of science degree in communications, specializing in television, from Boston University in Boston, Ma. She was selected for membership in Alpha Epsilon Pho, a scholastic honor society. After receiving her first class engineering license from Elkins Institute in Dallas, Texas, she pursued her career as an assistant producer, engineer and director in television in Oklahoma City. She became an English and French teacher in Seminole, Okla., where she taught until she accepted the role of first lady of Oklahoma in 1975 during David Boren's tenure as governor. As first lady she was involved in numerous activities and played a vital role in the establishment of the Office of Children and Youth for the state of Oklahoma. She served as State Chairman of the Explorer Scouts of Oklahoma, and she received the "Ladies in the News" award, an honor bestowed on outstanding women in Oklahoma. In 1976, Janna married Longview civic leader and independent oil producer John Clinton Robbins. After moving to Longview she became active in Trinity Episcopal Church, the Junior League of Longview, the Green Thumb Garden Club, Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae, the Captain William Young Chapter of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Gregg County Women's Crisis Center, AAUW, the BLBC, and PEO. She continued her pursuit of a master's degree in psychology, history and accounting. With her sister-in-law, Dorothy Robbins Kennedy, she founded an international jewelry and luggage design business, Jan Dorche Designs, which she served as president. Her board memberships included the Trinity School of Texs, The Hockaday School, the Girl Scouts of America and the Longview Public Library. She is survived by her husband, John Clinton Robbins; son, Dan Boren; daughter, Carrie Boren; mother, Oteka Little; a brother, Jack Little; a brother, Dan Little and his wife, Prudence, of Madill, Okla.; a sister, Oteka Ann Ball and husband, Jerry, of Shawnee, Okla.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Kennedy and husband, George; a sister-in-law, Betty Loyd and husband, Bob; an aunt, Carrie Lou Davis of Armore, Okla.; cousins, Jud Little, Scott Little, Penny Downing of Oklahoma; and 12 nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jon Ruff, John Zeigler, George E. Kennedy Jr., John Darby, Tommy Barrow and Art Machin. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Lloyd and Dr. Gale Joslin. The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. today at home, 911 Hillcrest. Memorial gifts may be made to the Janna Robbins Memorial Fund, Trinity School of Texas, P.O. Box 4337, Longview, TX 75606.

George L. Smith
GLADEWATER - Funeral services for George L. Smith, 80, of Gladewater will be held at Croley Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. Monday, May 25, with the Rev. Aubrey Pate officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove cemetery under the direction of Croley Funeral Home of Gladewater. Mr. Smith died Friday, May 22, 1998, in a Tyler hospital. He was born Nov. 15, 1917, in Upshur County to the late O.F. and Lavada Smith. A lifetime resident of Upshur County, he was a member of the Union Grove Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a retired farmer and rancher. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Smith of Union Grove; one son and daughter-in-law, George and Betty Smith of Union Grove; one daughter and son-in-law, Charline and H.B. Keating of DeSoto; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Virgil Smith of Gladewater, Buddy and Marie Smith of Gladewater and Frank and Jane Smith of Longview; one sister and brother-in-law, Alma and Bud Duncan of Plano; five grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Chuck Smith, Glen Smith, Wayne Keating, Ron Keating, Jody Kruse and Robin Eddington. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Eddington, Billy Gene Roberts and Floyd Newkirk. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. today, May 24, at the funeral home.

J.W. Walker
KILGORE - Services for J.W. Walker, 68, of Kilgore will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Mark McClelland, Buddy Duggins and David Hampton officiating. The burial will follow at Kilgore Memorial Gardens cemetery. Mr. Walker died Saturday, May 23, 1998, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Walker was born July 18, 1929, in Haynesville, La., the youngest of eight children of Alvy K. and Jessie Scott Walker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He received a degree in public administration from the University of Houston in 1962. He served in law enforcement for 28 years, eight years as a policeman for the City of Houston and 20 years as a deputy U.S. marshal. Mr. Walker moved to Kilgore in 1992 after his and his wife's retirement. Mr. Walker was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kilgore and the Masters Sunday School Class. Always civic minded, he volunteered his services and became the Rusk County representative for the Deep East Texas Rural Transportation District, and he represented Rusk County on the Selective Service System. He was active in the formation of Kilgore's Habitat for Humanity and served on its executive board. He was also active in the Rusk County Democratic Club. J.W. was a generous man who saw needs when others didn't see them. He saw beyond the color of his fellowman or how they dressed. He had many interesting experiences throughout his law enforcement career and often shared them with schools in the East Texas area. On Nov. 7, 1964, in Houston, J.W. married Martha Ann Hyatt, and she survives him. Other survivors are two children from a former marriage, Janet Walker of Katy and Kenneth Walker of Houston; three brothers, Murray Walker of Haynesville, La., Dawson Walker of Magnolia, Ark., and Lannie G. Walker of Fort Worth; and a sister, Marie Hines of Emerson, Ark. Other survivors are three grandchildren, Travis Walker, Stephanie Walker and Stuart Walker, all of Katy, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved dog, Ginger. The family will receive friends 6-8 Monday evening at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1206, Kilgore, TX 75663, or to Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 2315, Kilgore, TX 75663.

Phyllis Lipscomb Wells
KILGORE - Graveside services for Phyllis Lipscomb Wells, 75, of Hallsville will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Kilgore cemetery with the Rev. Randy Carter officiating. Arrangements are by Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore. Mrs. Wells died Monday at Good Shepherd Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Longview.

Clifford D. Zschiesche
HOUSTON - Memorial services for Clifford Dean Zschiesche, 41, of Houston will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 1998, at Bering Street Church of Christ in Houston. Mr. Zschiesche died Thursday, May 21, 1998, after a five month battle with cancer. Cliff was born July 25, 1956, in San Saba, Texas, and had resided in Houston where he had owned his own business. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Ruth Zschiesche of Kerrville, Texas. Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Herb and Kathey Zschiesche of Longview and Will and Marianne Zschiesche of Dublin, Ga; his fraternal grandmother, Amanda Zschiesche of Hamilton, Texas; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Thomas A. 'Drew' Allen
KILGORE - Services for Thomas A. "Drew" Allen, 49, of Temple, formerly of Longview, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 29, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Buddy Duggins officiating. He died Tuesday, May 26, 1998, at his home in Temple. Mr. Allen was born March 2, 1949, in Longview. He was a graduate of Pine Tree High School and had lived in the East Texas area until 1980. He was active in the Longview Jaycees and enjoyed coaching youth soccer and baseball. Mr. Allen was a salesperson for Garlyn Shelton Olds Cadillac in Temple. Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Jan Johns Allen of Temple; a son, Drew Allen of Temple; a daughter, Kelley Sullins of Longview; his mother, Mary Alice Allen of Gladewater; a brother, David Allen of Temple; a sister, Rosemary Thomas of Gladewater; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his father, William Allen, and a son. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-7:30 this evening. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 929, Kilgore, TX 75662.
