ENNIS – Mass of Christian Burial services for Charlie F. Vrzalik, 87 of Ennis, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001 in St. Johns Catholic Church with Rev. Fred Caldwell celebrant.
Born on Oct. 12, 1913 in Ennis, the son of Charles and Carrie Masar Vrzalik, he passed away Feb. 25, 2001 at the Ennis Regional Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife Julia of Ennis; two sons Charlie J. Vrzalik and Lee R. Vrzalik both of Ennis; sister Lillian Barto of Ennis; granddaughter Donna Dodson of Red Oak and a great-grandson Cole Dodson.
Pallbearers were David Barto, Bernie Barto, Dwayne Jakubik, Fred Holy, Robert Trojacek and Gene Dodson.
Interment followed in the St. Josephs cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary in Ennis.

James R. Whitfill
May 31, 1922 – Feb. 22, 2001

ENNIS – Mass of Christian Burial services for James R. Whitfill, 78 of Ennis, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2001 in St. Johns Catholic Church with Rev. Fred Caldwell celebrant.
Born May 31, 1922 in Alma, the son of Richard and Alice Whifill, he passed away Feb. 22, 2001 in Ennis.
She is survived by his wife Winnie of Ennis; son and his wife Jimmy and Lisa Whifill of Ennis; three daughters and their husbands Linda and Rex Waldrop, Susan and Ronnie Slovak and Cindy and Joe Bouldin all of Ennis; brother Windell Whitfill of Dallas; sister Helen Fowler of Alma; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Colin Waldrop, Phillip Barak, Jake Whitfill, David Brown, Matt Massey and Brad Gunn.
Interment followed in the St. Josephs cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary in Ennis.

James Graydon Wood
May 20, 1939 – Feb. 27, 2001

TERRELL – Graveside services for James Graydon Wood, 61 of Terrell, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2001 at the Bethel cemetery.
Born on May 20, 1939 in Five Points, the son of Herman Otto and Nettie Bryant Wood, he passed away Feb. 27, 2001 in Terrell.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years Gwen Wood of Terrell; three sons David Wayne Wood of Ohio, Steven Glenn Wood and James Todd Wood both of Terrell; two daughters Pamela Ledell Nutt and Tanya Renee Wood; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Boze-Mitchell Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Hazel Claudine Aronson
Dec. 21, 1921 – March 24, 2001

WAXAHACHIE – Funeral services for Hazel Claudine Aronson were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at Boze-Mitchell Chapel with Rev. Larry Pool officiating.
Born on Dec. 21, 1921 in Avinger, the daughter of Taylor David and Laura Tankersly Snead, she passed away March 24, 2001 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.
Preceded in death by her husbands Fares Elton Brooks and Jake Aronson; she is survived by son Forest Elwood Brooks and wife Lynda of Paris, Ark.; two daughters Cherry Foraine Brooks Pool and husband Larry Midlothian and Janis Gay Brooks Echols and husband Jerry of Bullard; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and sister Georgia Pearl Haines.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Boze-Mitchell Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Shirley A. Hessel
Aug. 20, 1938 – March 19, 2001

ALMA – Funeral services for Shirley A. Hessel, 62 of Alma, were held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2001 in the Keever Chapel with Steve Oliver officiating.
Born on Aug. 20, 1938 in Riesel, the daughter of William and Anna Matthys Gilbert, she passed away March 19, 2001 at her home.
Preceded in death by her husband Billy Gene Hessel; she is survived by her two sons Mark Hessel of Ennis and Barry Hessel of Palmer; mother Anna Gilbert of Riesel and sister Joyce Mullens of Riesel.
Interment followed in the Riesel City cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.

Mary Ann Jackson
May 31, 1936 – March 20, 2001

ENNIS – Funeral services for Mary Ann Jackson, 64, were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2001 in the Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Henry Kleinert officiating.
Born on May 31, 1936 in Atkinson, Neb., he passed away March 20, 2001 at the Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas.
Preceded in death by her son Donald Jackson; she is survived by her children and spouses Steve and Cindy Jackson, Tim and Lynn Humphrey, Jim and Julia Humphrey, Tammy and Rodney Henderson, Ronda and Carl McAfee and Peggy Daly and Scott Jackson; daughter-in-law Jeanie Jackson; grandchildren Jeni, Jacki, Drew, Nicki, Halle, Annika, Tonya, Amber, Colin, Steven and Curtis; and great-grandchildren Julia, Curtain and Cody.
Pallbearers were Tim Humphrey, Jim Humphrey, Steve Jackson, Steven Jackson, Harvey Mitschke, Don Keilers, Albert Bigler and Jerry Wakefield.
Interment followed in the Myrtle cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.

Wheeler William Jones

RED OAK – Funeral services for Wheeler William Jones, 83 of Red Oak, were held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2001 in the chapel of Byrum Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Krohn officiating.
Born on Sept. 28, 1917 in Scroggins, the son of Benjamin and Zula P. Jones, he passed away March 14, 2001 at his home.
Preceded in death by his parents and son Gary W. Jones; he is survived by his wife of 53 years Helen E. Jones of Red Oak; daughters Regina Scott and husband Ray of Palmer and Loretta Smith and husband Charles of Sachse; grandchildren Nikki Cantrell and husband Mark of Bridgeport, Wendi Lopez and husband Adrian of Jacksonville, N.C., Scott Smith and wife, Brian Smith and wife; great-grandchildren Caleb and Cade Cantrell, and Mason Lopez; sisters Mary Jo Campbell of Phoeniz, Ariz., Glentis Reeder of Klamath Fallas, Ore., Jessie Abney of DeQueen, Ark., and Zula Reagan and husband Adrian of Dublin.
Pallbearers were Ray Scott, Mark Cantrell, Jacky Scott, Tommy Thompson, Wally Szymczak and Ernie Steiner.
Interment followed in the Edgewood cemetery in Lancaster under the direction of Byrum Funeral Home.

William Kenneth Lipsey
Feb. 6, 1941 – March 24, 2001

WAXAHACHIE – Funeral services for William Kenneth Lipsey, of Waxahachie, were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2001 in the New Life Worship Center in Waxahachie with pastor Edwin Lipsey (nephew) and Joe Bertinetti officiating.
Born on Feb. 6, 1941 in Hubbard, the son of W.W. and Madie Hamilton Lipsey, he passed away March 24, 2001 at his home.
Preceded in death by his parents, son Kenneth Wayne Lipsey, and brother W.E. Lipsey; he is survived by his wife Ann Lipsey of Waxahachie; son David D. Lipsey and wife Mary of Waxahachie; brothers Charles “Buck” Lipsey and wife Donna of Ennis and Donald Ray Lipsey and wife Jody of Tyler; sisters Margaret Walls of Ennis, Betty Stephens and husband Carl of Waco, and Doris Moore and husband Kenneth of Rosenthal; grandchildren Amy Koenig of Carrollton, Jimmy Lipsey of Waxahachie, Amanda Long of Garrett; granddaughter Payton Lipsey; and sister-in-law Brenda Carrigan.
Pallbearers were Doyle Brown, Wendell Carrington, Bill Waller, Don Anderson, Richard Carrigan and Gary Holcomb. Honorary pallbearers were Jamey Williams, Clifford Stacks, Jackie Stutts and Gary Carrigan.
Interment followed in Fairview cemetery in Hubbard under the direction of Waxahachie Funeral Home.

Sabino Lopez
Aug. 22, 1937 – March 20, 2001

DALLAS – Funeral services for Sabino Lopez, 63 of Dallas, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2001 at Green Funeral Home with Rev. Ceasar Segura officiating.
Born on Aug. 22, 1937 in Cd. Leon, Mexico, the son of Ignacio and Dionicia Martinez Lopez, he passed away March 20, 2001 at Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas.
Preceded in death by his parents, daughter Susana Charles and granddaughter Brenda Charles; he is survived his wife Tomasa Romero Lopez of Dallas; daughters Yolanda Nunez of Dallas, Nohemi Turrubiates of Dallas and Eva Soria of Dallas; sons Julian Lopez of Dallas and Dionicio Lopez of Dallas; sisters Pachita Lopez of Leon, Mexico and Maria Lopez of Leon; brothers Jose Lopez of Leon and Juan Lopez; and 16 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Julian Lopez, Dionicio Lopez, Jose S. Nunez and Ruben Turrubiates.
Interment followed in the Ferris Memorial Park North under the direction of Green Funeral Home in Ferris.
