Mary Zell Campbell Lasyone
Services for Mary Zell Campbell Lasyone, 94, of Palestine, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Robley Soileau and Bruce Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in New Addition Annex Cemetery.
Mrs. Lasyone died Monday at her home.
She was born July 31, 1907 in Palestine to Joe and Florence McFarland Campbell.
Mrs. Lasyone was a charter member of the Memorial Christian Church since October 1950. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 23. She served as chaplain for the Davis-Reagan Chapter 2292 for Daughters of the Confederacy for several years and was nominated again this year.
Mrs. Lasyone was preceded in death by her husbands, Bob Campbell in 1976, and Carroll Lasyone in 1992; a brother, Milton Campbell; sisters, Eilzabeth Hoffman and Joanne Rae Andrews; and nephew-son, Joseph Andrews.
She is survived by four grandchildren, Mary Jo Carpenter of Santa Clarita, Calif., Abbie Gail Janz of Murietta, Calif., and Bruce Allen Andrews and Albert Anthony Andrews, both of Palestine; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brian Andrews, Blake Andrews, Norman Sykes, Clyce Marshall, Dr. Michael Key and Fred Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Wylie, David Hickman and Mark Watson.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Billy Howard Churchman
Services for Billy Howard Churchman, 70, of Oakwood, were set for 2 p.m. today at Taylor Funeral Home Chapel in Timpson with Jimmy Nix officiating. Burial followed in Corinth Cemetery in Timpson.
Mr. Churchman died Monday.
He was born Oct. 16, 1931 in Spiro, Okla to Guy William and Eva Kelsey Churchman.
Mr. Churchman was a retired master gunnery sergeant for the U.S. Marines. He served in the Marine Corps from 1953 to 1978 with a tour of duty during the Korean War and three tours during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kelsey Max Churchman; and a sister, Merle Denton.
Mr. Churchman is survived by his wife, Virginia Acrey Churchman of Oakwood; sons, Wayne Churchman of Mesa, Ariz., Michael Churchman of Vista, Calif., Arlin Churchman, Max Churchman and Joe Churchman, all of Oakwood; daughter, Regena Frazier of Raleigh, N.C.; sisters, Mary Ann Scott of Brazoria and Sherry Frazier of Center; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Max Churchman Jr., Kyle Churchman, Bobby Tinkle, Joe Acrey, David Garrison and Andy Hudman.
Haynie Barns Tyus
Services for Haynie Barns Tyus, 78, of Fairfield, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church of Fairfield with the Rev. Terry Skinner officiating. Burial will be at Steward Mills Cemetery in Freestone County with the U.S. Honor Guard making presentations. Arrangements are under the direction of Capps Memorial Chapel of Fairfield.
Mr. Tyus died Monday at his residence.
He was born Jan. 20, 1924, in Mexia to Walter Altee Tyus and Mattie Bell Fails.
Mr. Tyus was a building contractor and land developer. He served on the Fairfield City Council from 1973 to 1983 and was mayor pro-tem in 1983. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5872 and was post commander in 1974-75. He was director of First National Bank of Fairfield from 1978 to 1986.
He received a certificate from Texas A&M, for four years of Vocational Training at Fairfield High School.
Mr. Tyus served as a corporal in the U.S. Army Company C 300th Engineer Company from March 4, 1943 to Dec. 7, 1945. He earned the European Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars; the Good Conduct Medal; Purple Heart; Victory Medal; and three Overseas Service Bars. He served in the Normandy Invasion, Adrennes “Battle of the Bulge,” Central Europe, Rhineland and France.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Mr. Tyus was preceded in death by his wife, Kerry McAdams Tyus; sister, Mrytle Tyus Rinehart; and brothers, Vernon Tyus Sr., W.L. Tyus, Travis Tyus and Calvin Tyus.
He is survived by daughters, Kelly Tyus of Fairfield and Donna Tyus Schafert of Daytona Beach, Fla.; son, James Tyus of Fairfield; brother, Glynn Tyus Sr. of Waco; sister, Mertie Faye Jackson of Selman City; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Harold Moore, Reed Jackson, Charlie Ray, Jimmy Lee, Carroll Martin, Dr. Brent Moore, Charles Easterwood and Roger McCrary.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Moore, VFW Post 5872, Gideon Sunday School Class and surviving members of the 300th Engineer Company C.

Theola Adams
Services for Theola Adams, 79, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Canaan Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Blackshear Cemetery under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home.
Mrs. Adams died Aug. 2 at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 22, 1922, in Palestine to Love and Inez Ogg Adams.
Mrs. Adams received her education at Flint Hill Community School and was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church. She was married to Jesse Clewis and later to Albert Hill.
She was preceded in death by sister, Pearlie Barrett.
Mrs. Adams is survived by sisters, Iola Gross, Ola Mae Angton, Mae Ola Jordan, Lovie Dean and Bobra Nays, all of Palestine.
A wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel.
Jimmie Lee Gipson
Services for Jimmie Lee Gipson, 100, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Fellowship Christian Church with the Revs. Vernon Jackson and Obie Bowser officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gipson died Sunday at Dogwood Trails Advanced Healthcare.
She was born April 15, 1902, in Rockdale to Jim and Pearl Bowser Conner.
Mrs. Gipson was a member of New Fellowship and for many years was responsible for preparing the weekly communion service. She was self-employed and was noted for the laundry work done at her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Riley Gipson; and stepdaughters, Eunice Gipson Davison, Jackie Davie and Marilyn Davis.
Mrs. Gipson is survived by cousin and caretaker, the Rev. Obie Bowser of Palestine; and stepson, Theo Gipson of Houston.
Active pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of New Fellowship Christian Church.
Mary Elizabeth Turner Swinney
Services for Mary Elizabeth Turner Swinney, 84, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Dr. Ronald Sloan and the Rev. Scott Dornbush officiating. Burial will be in Strong Memorial Park.
Mrs. Swinney died this morning at Cartmell Home for Aged.
She was born Nov. 19, 1917, in Slocum to Charles Harold Turner and Eva Alma Simpson.
Mrs. Swinney was a member of Lone Pine Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Leo Swinney, in 1995; brother, Duke Turner; and sisters, Faye Barbin, Mildred Gipson and Gladys Lively.
Mrs. Swinney is survived by son, Ben Swinney of Palestine; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Leroy Roquemore
Services for Abb Leroy Roquemore Jr., 87, of Palestine, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Bailey & Foster Chapel with Chris Kenner officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park.
Mr. Roquemore died Friday night at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
He was born March 11, 1915 in Palestine to Abb Leroy Roquemore Sr. and Ouida Frances Barnes Roquemore.
Mr. Roquemore was a member of First United Methodist Church. He worked as a manager of Roquemore Machine Shop; was a oilman, and an amateur golfer.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 56 years, Eva Grace Knutson Roquemore; son, Mark Benjamin Roquemore; and brother, Jack D. Roquemore.
Mr. Roquemore is survived by his wife, Pauline Waters Roquemore of Palestine; daughter, Nikki Calhoun of Palestine; son Abb Roquemore III of Lufkin; brothers, Frank Roquemore Sr. of Palestine, Fred Roquemore of Houston; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Larry Roquemore, Matt Roquemore, Frank Roquemore Jr., Abb Roquemore IV, Cameron Calhoun and Carl Ray Polk Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Joyce, Ken Liles, C.D. Thomas, Richard Thomas, Rayburn Moore, and his many golfing friends throughout East Texas.

Ella Mae Wisenbaker
Services for Ella Mae Wisenbaker, 87, of Grapeland, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Rock Church Cemetery with the Rev. Marty Gabler officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Wisenbaker died Friday at Cleveland Regional Hospital.
She was born Aug. 2, 1915 in Greenville to Mr. and Mrs. C.T. Carleton.
Mrs. Wisenbaker was a member of Pentecostal Church and a homemaker.
She is survived by a daughter, Loretta Foster of Grapeland; son, Arnold Wisenbaker of Blackfoot; sister, Edith Uselton of Plano; brother, C.T. Carleton Jr. of Cold Springs; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Beatrice Johnson
Services for Beatrice Johnson, 92, of Palestine, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Jim Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Neches City Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson died Friday night at Cartmell Home for Aged.
She was born Oct. 7, 1910 in Anderson County to Charlie Taylor and Dora Perkins Taylor.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of Neches United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge. She had been employed as a machine operator at the Industrial Garment Factory.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, T.B. Johnson, in 1985; two sons; a sister, Gracia Cantwell; and a brother, Grady Taylor.
She is survived by nieces, Gracia Hasty of Palestine and Sarah Tway of San Angelo; nephews, Rayburn Cantwell of Palestine and Charlie W. Taylor of San Angelo.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Edwena Boston
Services for Edwena Boston, 78, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Harvest Time Church with the Revs. Doug Herrell and Jim Easter officiating.
Burial will be in Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory.
Mrs. Boston died Friday evening at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 2, 1924 in Sparta, Tenn. to Leslie and Ada Jane Blaylock Dodson.
Mrs. Boston was raised in Tennessee and lived in Palestine since 1973. She was a homemaker and member of Harvest Time Church.
She is survived by her husband, W.G. Boston of Palestine; sons, Phillip Boston of Rockwell and George Boston and Dwight Boston, both of Dallas; daughters, Rosalie Boston Provence and Lorraine Nicholson, both of Palestine; brother, Will Walker of Lake Dallas; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Baker, Todd Baker, Dwight Boston Jr., Bradley Boston, William Boston, Jack Anderson and Victor Lambright.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Klinkenborg, Chuck Cash and Alton Doucette Jr.

Louis A. Farris Jr.
Services for Louis A. Farris Jr., 66, of Dallas, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Mike Glenn officiating. Burial followed in the Syrian Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites conducted by the Palestine Masonic Lodge. Arrangements were under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Farris died Wednesday morning at his residence in Dallas.
He was born Feb. 20, 1936, in Palestine to Louis Farris Sr. and Victoria Gani Farris.
Mr. Farris was reared in Palestine and attended Palestine High School where he was awarded an All-American Honorable Mention in football. He attended Southern Methodist University on a full football scholarship and graduated in 1958.
He began his career with Farris & Co. and later formed Empire Financial Corporation with Clint Murchison Jr. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the John L. Degrazier Lodge, a member of St. Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church and Ex-Letterman at SMU.
Mr. Farris was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife, Ricki Farris of Dallas; daughters, Angela Farris Schwartz and Margaret Farris, both of Dallas; son, Louis A. Farris III of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; mother, Victoria Farris of Palestine; brothers, Richard Farris of Palestine, Bobby Farris of Dallas and Michael Farris of Aledo; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Matthew Farris, Michael Farris, Nick Farris, Paul Farris, Rick Farris and Robert Farris.
