Mr. Arredondo
Maria De Jesus (Paredez) Arredondo, 90, a former resident of Beeville, died Sunday, April 15, 2007, at her residence in Stockdale.
Mrs. Arredondo was born in Eden on Feb. 5, 1917, to Anita and Felix Paredez Sr. She was married to Felipe Arredondo Jr. and was a housewife and retired cafeteria employee with the Beeville Independent School District. She was a member of the Catholic church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Gloria Fisher; one sister; and three brothers.
Survivors include two daughters, Angie Vega of Beeville and Henrietta (Earl) Tenpenny of Stockdale; three sons, Gilbert (Anita) Arredondo of San Antonio, Felipe Arredondo II of Palmetto, Fla., and Rodolfo (Delia) Arredondo of Sinton; three sisters, Blanca Paredez and Anna Rodriguez, both of Beeville, and Catherine Rendon of San Antonio; one brother, Cruz Paredez of San Antonio; 22 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
A rosary was recited Tuesday evening at Trevino Funeral Home. The funeral Mass was celebrated this morning at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, with Rev. Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial followed in the Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Rudy Arredondo Jr., Michael Fisher Jr., Nicholas Tenpenny, Gilbert Arredondo Jr., Daniel Arredondo and Jimmy Arredondo.
Honorary pallbearer was Kristopher Landrum.

Mr. Elling
Larry Elling, 50, of Brownwood,  Texas, went to the Lord, Thursday, April 12, 2007, as the result of a traffic accident.
Lawrence John Elling was born June 28, 1956, in Beeville,  Texas to Walter and Vinita Brown Elling. He was a member of the A.C.  Jones class of 1974, attended Bee County College and graduated from Abilene Christian University with a bachelor’s degree in business. For many years, Larry worked for J.C. Penney and Solo Serve. He was currently working for Kohler in Brownwood and owned his own business in research and court records. Larry married Marcia Henry in Goldthwaite,  Texas on July 15, 1979. He was a member of the Early Church of Christ where he served as an elder. Larry shared his dad’s passion for photography, and his unique sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia Elling of Brownwood; two daughters, Kimberly (Kyle) Hurt of Orlando, Fla., and Leslie (Mickel) Perkins of Austin; a son, Andrew Elling and fiancé Chelsey Penton of Abilene; his parents, Walter and Vinita Elling of Beeville; two sisters, Susan (Bill) Dobra and Melinda (Jeff) Hammond of Beeville; three nephews, Robby Dobra, Ryan Dobra and Jared Hammond, two nieces, Whitney Hammond and Reagan Hammond, all of Beeville; and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Elling; and his grandparents, Olan and Bertha Brown and Ernest and Hilda Elling.
Memorial services were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2007, at the Early Church of Christ. A private family burial followed in Goldthwaite.

Mr. Lane
Ernesto Lane, 80, died at his residence in George West on Friday, April 13, 2007. Mr. Lane was born to Jose and Juanita (Briseño) Lane on May 2, 1926, in George West. He worked in the oilfield industry.
Survivors include his wife, Florinda Lane of George West; three sons, Rocky Lane, Juan (Bevie) Lane and Jessie (Stella) Lane, all of George West; two daughters, Loude (Domingo) Leal of Austin and Gloria Lane of George West; a brother, Sam Lane of Victoria; a sister, Tina (Israel) Gonzales of George West; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Sunday, April 15, at the Roberson Funeral Home in Three Rivers. A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. that evening at St. George Catholic Church in George West. The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. George Church. Burial followed in the George West Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Toby Perez, Carlos Saldiva, Rodney Kelley, Richard Martinez, Josh Lopez and Chris Guerrero. Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Campbell, Ray Ybañez, Abel Gamez, Johnny Darling and Rudolfo Amador.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Three Rivers.

Mr. Lindsay
Sidney Afton Lindsay, Jr., age 60, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 14, 2007, of heart failure. The only son of Sidney A. Lindsay, Sr. and Anita Fay Nordan Lindsay, he was born September 6, 1946, in Houston. Raised in San Antonio, he was a graduate of San Antonio Academy and  Texas military Institute and also attended Schreiner Institute in Kerrville where he played football. He was the owner of Lindsay Ranch near Encinal,  Texas, which has been in his family over 150 years.
Following in the footsteps of his grandfather, legendary wildcatter L.A. Nordan, he raised Santa Gertrudis cattle and, as managing partner of Lindsay Production & Royalties, Ltd., oversaw various oil and gas interests. He also managed whitetail deer and conducted hunts on his South  Texas ranch. Mr. Lindsay was an enthusiastic volunteer for over 40 years at the annual San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, and a life member and director of the San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc., (S.A.L.E.) where, among other responsibilities, he served as a vice president of the Executive Committee and was founder and longtime chairman of the PUC Committee, which put out and picked up the barrels for the women's barrel racing rodeo event. He was a member of the Argyle, San Antonio German Club, Order of the Alamo, and Club Giraud.
Mr. Lindsay was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his only child, Alice Nordan Lindsay Welder, and her husband, Christopher Clark Welder.
He is also survived by his sister, Marian Nordan Lindsay Archer, and her husband, Robert Richey Archer; an aunt, Marian Nordan Harwell, and her husband, Norman Leslie Harwell; numerous cousins and nieces, as well as his former wife, Cris Crouch Graham, with whom he remained friends and who helped care for him when his health declined.
A memorial service is planned for 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 18th, at his residence. Honorary pallbearers are Marrs McLean Bowman, James Montgomery Caruth, Martin Withington Clement II, Martin Withington Clement III, Paul Ray Galloway, Jr., Charles Allison Kuper, Jr., Ricardo Elliott Longoria, Richard Keith Martin, Frank Michael Mims, Jeffrey James Pearce, Raymond James Welder, Jr., and Raymond James Welder III.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to S.A.L.E. Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 200230, San Antonio,  Texas 78220-0230 or San Antonio Academy, 117 E. French Place, San Antonio,  Texas 78212.

Mr. Paredez
Antonio L. Paredez, 83, a native of Beeville, died Monday, April 16, 2007. He moved to San Antonio in 1950 and was a retired Kelly Air Force Base employee. He was born on Feb. 19, 1924, to Anita and Felix Paredez Sr.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Maria Arredondo and Dolores Garcia; and two brothers, Felix and Augustin Paredez.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Olga Paredez; four sons, Rene, Roland, Rudy and Robert Paredez; two daughters, Debra Gonzaba and Denise Marshall; one brother, Cruz Paredez; three sisters, Katie Rendon, Annie Rodriguez and Blanca Paredez; 24 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for today (Wednesday) from 1 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels in San Antonio. A funeral procession will depart Thursday at 10 a.m. to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for committal services with military honors.

Mr. Reyes
Pedro D. Reyes, 56, died on Sunday, April 8, 2007, in Clermont, Fla.
He was born on June 27, 1950, in Roscoe to Pedro Reyes Sr. and Cristina De La Rosa. He was a field worker.
Mr. Reyes was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Esperanza Reyes of Mascot, Fla.; three sons, Pedro Reyes III, Fidel and Leroy Reyes, all of Mascot, Fla.; five daughters, Christina Reyes of Florida, Diana Lopez of Clermont, Fla., Ida Cruz and Consuelo Rodriguez, both of Mascot, Fla., and Vanessa Manriquez of Date City, Fla.; six brothers, Francisco Reyes of San Antonio, Dionicio Reyes of Werisdale, Fla., Ramon Reyes of Plainview, Santiago Reyes of California, Blas Reyes and Luis Reyes, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; 11 sisters, Lupe Martinez of Ogden, Utah, Frances Acosta of Pueblo,  Colo., Beatrice Mendoza of Plainview, Maria Reyes, Senida Reyes, Martha R. Rodriguez and Blanca R. Tufino, all of Houston, Christina R. Segovia of San Bernardino,  Calif., Josie Reyes of Tollison, Ariz., Sylvia Reyes of Avondale, Ariz., Esmeralda R. Gonzales of San Bernardino,  Calif.; 24 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Trevino Funeral Home in Beeville. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Interment followed in the Waldheim Cemetery in Tynan.
Pallbearers were Anthony Segovia, Frank Puebla, Federico Jimenez, Mayo Hernandez, Jesse Mendoza and Martin Reyes.

Harding
Peggy Ann Harding, 57, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001. She was born Nov. 14, 1944, in Beeville to Emmett R. and Doris (Gilcrease) Harding.
Survivors include three sisters, Betty Todd of Beeville, Zona Sharp of Farmerville, La., and her twin sister, Patsy Sue Cooley of  Pennsylvania; two brothers, James Harding of Belton and Ernest Harding of Baltimore, Md.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Alice Jacobs, Josie Dworaczyk and Ruby Curtis; and one brother, Clarence Harding.
A graveside service and burial were held at 4 p.m. Friday in the Berclair Cemetery.

Heard
Bobby Joseph Heard, 18, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Galloway & Sons chapel in Three Rivers. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Piotr Gajda officiating.
Burial followed in the Three Rivers Cemetery.
Mr. Heard was born Jan. 9, 1983, in Atlanta,  Texas, to Aida (Amaro) and Doug Heard. He was a 2001 graduate of Three Rivers High School and a member of Sacred Heart Church.
Survivors include his parents, Doug and Aida Heard of Three Rivers; a brother, Bryan Douglas Heard of Three Rivers; his maternal grandparents, Alex and Soveida Amaro of Three Rivers; his paternal grandmother, Gladys Heard of Linden; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Carroll William Heard.

Harris
James O. Harris, 64, of Beeville died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001.
Mr. Harris was born June 8, 1937, in Carlsbad, N.M., to Eunice (Hawkins) and Henry Harris.
Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Tullos Harris of Beeville; three sons, James Harris, Chester Harris and wife Odessa of Beeville and Robert Harris and wife Gina of Colorado; six daughters and their husbands, Snoma and Dale Headrick of  Oklahoma, Merry and Kenneth Thompson of Lufkin, Delores Ellis of Beeville, Cheryl and Gary  Jackson of Colorado, Betty  Johnson of Indiana and Teresa Griffith of Karnes City; two brothers, Ed Harris of Colorado and Henry Harris of Rockport; four sisters, Lee Mawery of Carlsbad, N.M., Rose Pierce and Beulah Carlton, both of Arizona, and Lynn Cline of Colorado; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Longoria
Funeral services are pending at Treviño Funeral Home for Baldemar V. Longoria, 75. He died at 3 o’clock this morning (Wednesday) at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
He was the son of Felix O. and Brigida (Villarreal) Longoria.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Perez Longoria of Beeville.

Mendoza
Lionel P. Mendoza Sr., 63, of Portland died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, in a hospital there. He was born April 12, 1938, in Goliad to Paulino and Ernestina P. Mendoza.
He was a 1958 graduate of A.C.  Jones High School. He retired in 1986 after 20 years of service with the Kroger Co. At the time of his death, he was employed by Mrs. Baird’s Bakeries.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daniel R. Mendoza; and his mother-in-law, Irene M. Sosa.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Lupe S. Mendoza; three sons, Lionel S. Mendoza and wife Priscilla of Corpus Christi, Steven R. Mendoza and wife Kathy and Luis E. Mendoza, all of Portland; three daughters, Martha A. Mendoza of Portland, Sandra M. Ledesma and husband Michael of Corpus Christi and Rose E. Perkes and husband Bruce of Aviston, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Bryan, Kevin and Trey Mendoza, Lauren Ledesma and Lindsey, Nathan and Ciara Perkes; two sisters, Elida Loya and Carmen Garcia; and four brothers, Paul, David, Octavio and Enrique Mendoza.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the Limbaugh Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Portland.
Burial followed in San Patricio Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Michael Ledesma, Bruce Perkes and Paul, David, Octavio and Enrique Mendoza.
Honorary pallbearers were his three sons, Lionel S. Mendoza Jr., Steven R. Mendoza and Luis E. Mendoza, and Clemente C. Sosa.
