J. W. LILLARD
ALAMO -- J.W. Lillard, beloved husband, "Daddy", "Papa J," and "Grandpa" was born on Jan. 16, 1926, in Mountain Springs and passed from this life on Oct. 16, 2002.
He was survived by his wife of 46 years, Janetta Lillard of Alamo, one son, Jerry Wayne and wife Robin Lillard of McAllen; daughters, Gloria Jean and husband Jerry Laughlin of Alamo, Donna Irene and husband Danny Layman of Holly Lake Ranch, Joanna Sue Lillard of Alamo; 10 grandchildren, (Debbie, Suanne, Danielle, Dara, Daven, Justin, Jarred, Jacob, Tami and Hannah) and 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Archie Lillard and Douglas Lillard of Gainesville, three sisters, Irene Bryant and Marcell Taylor of Gainesville and Peggy Fogle of Longview, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by mother and father, George W. and Julia Lillard; two sisters, Betty Duke and Delsie Lance and one brother, Kenneth Lillard.
Mr. Lillard was a World War II veteran, prisoner of war and Purple Heart recipient. He was a businessman, owning Magic Valley Studios, Alamo Photo Supply and Alamo Jewelry and Manufacturing, all of Alamo.
Visitation for Mr. Lillard will be from noon until 8 p.m. Sunday at Kreidler Funeral Home on N. 10 St. in McAllen. The family will be present to receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Funeral services for Mr. Lillard will be 2 p.m. Monday at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen, with Rev. Harry Klepper officiating and Wendell Curry will do the eulogy.
A visitation will also be held on from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Geo. J. Carroll Funeral Home in Gainesville.
A military burial service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at New Hope Cemetery in Mountain Springs. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McAllen Easter Seals Society, P O Box 489, McAllen, TX 78502 or to the American Lung Association of Texas, P O Box 27170, Austin, TX 78755.
Services were entrusted to the care of Kreidler Funeral Home, Inc. of McAllen.
EDITH ANN TALLANT WEAVER
Graveside service for Edith Ann Tallant Weaver, 58, of Gainesville, are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Arthur Green, pastor of the Church of Jesus Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mrs. Weaver died Nov. 28, 2002, at Gainesville Convalescent Center.
She was born April 15, 1944, in Waco to Elmer I. and Louise Dial Tallant. She had resided in Gainesville for a number of years and had been employed as a supervisor in food service. She was a member of a Baptist church.
Survivors include her husband, James E. Weaver of Gainesville; daughters and son-in-law, Kimberley and Kevin Evans of Gainesville and Linda Holmes of Gainesville; son, William E. Holmes Jr. of Childress; 7 grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Wilson and Mary Jo Meek, both of Gainesville, and Barbara Baker of Fort Worth, Reva Lawson of Godly; brothers, Johnny Wilson of Argyle; step-daughters, Kim Wofford of Gainesville, Angie Berryhill of Dallas; and step-son, Mark Weaver of Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Lloyd Wilson.
Pallbearers are Gary Meek, Rick Ulmer, Mark Weaver, Bill Berryhill, David Wofford, and Tracy Branch Jr.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
CHARLES WESLEY II
Graveside service for Charles Wesley II, 58, formerly of Post, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4 at the Coker Cemetery near Saint Jo with Nathan Boles, lay minister and brother of the deceased, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Justice-Mason Funeral Home.
Mr. Boles died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston.
He was born Jan. 16, 1945, to Herman Sampson and Lois Jewell (Pond) Boles at Pampa. He attended school at Austin High at El Paso. Being the son of a Presbyterian minister, he was active in the ministry and music. He also was a radio personality and had worked for his brother in Post at the KPOS radio station.
Survivors include his sons, Wesley, Herman and Patrick; daughters, Anne Marie and Kayla; brothers, Travis Boles, Jim Boles and Nathan Boles; and a sister, Zela Airhart.
Memorials are suggested to the Leukemia Foundation.
RUBY ANN HOTT POPEJOY
Services for Ruby Ann Hott Popejoy, 65, of Gainesville, are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Reed Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mrs. Popejoy died April 9, 2003, at Renaissance Care Center.
She was born March 16, 1938, in Lindsay to Arthur and Cleata Vessels Hott. On Feb. 19, 1962, she married Johnny L. Popejoy in Gainesville. Ruby Popejoy was a graduate of Gainesville High School in 1956. She was employed by the Linda Jo Shoe Company for a number of years. She also attended the Harvey Street Baptist Church for a number of years.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny L. Popejoy of Gainesvillle; daughter and son-in-law, Diann and Derek Cravens of Whitesboro; daughter, Sherry Popejoy of Gainesville; grandchildren, David and Derek Spindle of Whitesboro; and sister, Rita Clark of Burns City.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashli Spindle; and a sister, Mary Ruth Hott.
The family will be at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
ANNETTE HILLIARD
MARIETTA, Okla. -- Services for Annette Hilliard, 63, of Marietta, Okla., are set for 10 a.m Saturday at the Marietta Church of Christ with Travis Huffman, Church of Christ minister, officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Rio Vista Cemetery in Rio Vista under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mrs. Hilliard died June 18, 2003, at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington.
She was born Sept. 5, 1939. On Feb. 2, 1961, she married Ray Hilliard in Cleburne. She was a homemaker and was an employee of Gainesville Memorial Hospital in Gainesville.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Hilliard of Marietta, Okla.; daughters, Donna Rodgers of Keller and Sandy Jackson of Denton; son, Robert Hilliard of Emmett, Idaho; eight grandchildren; and brothers, Dwain Martindale of Everman and Roy Lee Martindale.
The family will be at the Marietta Church of Christ from 9 to 9:55 a.m. Saturday to receive friends.
JON HARRISON McCULLOUGH
WHITESBORO -- Services for Jon Harrison "Jon the Jeweler" McCullough, 33, of Whitesboro, are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Methodist Church in Whitesboro with Dr. Roy Spore officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro under the direction of the Huff Funeral Home of Whitesboro.
Mr. McCullough died June 21, 2003, at Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
He was born Oct. 3, 1969, in San Bernardino, Calif., to Harrison and Dianna Cawelti McCullough. On Feb. 25, 1989, he married Kelly Riddle in Whitesboro. He was the owner/operator of Kelly's Jewelers in Whitesboro. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Whitesboro, the Jewelers Board of Trade and the IHRA.
Survivors include his wife, Kelly McCullough of Whitesboro; sons, Rhett McCullough and Wesley McCullough of Whitesboro; daughter, Brooke McCullough of Whitesboro; parents, Harrison and Dianna McCullough of Whitesboro; brother, Douglas Alan McCullough of Pinetop, Ariz.; father-in-law, Wesley "Sonny" Riddle; step-mother-in-law, Linda Dalton of Whitesboro; mother-in-law, Judy Riddle of Sherman; and brothers-in-law, Kevin Riddle of San Diego, Calif., and Brian Riddle of Whitesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Chad Ressler, Mark Abernathy, Heath Raper, Kevin Riddle, Doug McCollough, and Corey Prestidge.

JAMES LYMAN POE
SADLER -- James Lyman Poe, 86, of Sadler, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, at the Whitesboro Nursing Home in Whitesboro. No services are planned. Cremation is under the direction of the Huff Funeral Home of Whitesboro.
Mr. Poe was born March 20, 1917, in Dupe, Ill., to James W. and Ruby Taylor Poe. In 1940, he married Juanita Roberts in Sadler. He was a retired switchman with Missouri Kansas Texas Railroad and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Poe of Sadler; sons, James R. Poe of Sadler and James Bright of Sadler; daughter, Mary Bright of Sadler; sisters, Louise Berry of Mabank, Dorothy Hebel of Kemet, and Mildred Behr of Desoto; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
VONNIE "TEEN" TRAFFANSTEDT
Graveside service for Vonnie "Teen" Traffanstedt, 64, of Gainesville, is set for 10 a.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville with the Rev. Arthur Green of the Church of Jesus Christ in Gainesville officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clement-Keel Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mrs. Traffanstedt died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at her residence.
She was born July 31, 1939, in Gilmer to N.B. and Bernice (Gaston) Ritchie. On Sept. 13, 1955, she married Charles R. Traffanstedt in Arlington. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed crocheting, sewing and reading.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Traffanstedt of Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Sandy Traffanstedt of Azle and Jimmy Traffanstedt of Gainesville; daughters and son-in-law, Debbie Trammell and Tammy and Mike Collett of Gainesville; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Calvin and Lynn Ritchie of San Marcus; sisters and brother-in-law, Bonnie Phillips of Arlington, Jeannette and Avis Landrum of Arlington and Faye King of Gainesville; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rosalee Thomas; and one great-granddaughter.
Pallbearers are Allen Trammell, Josh Traffanstedt, Colin Kiser, Adam Crowus, Timothy Traffanstedt and Tony Traffanstedt Jr.
Honorary pallbearers are Justin Kiser and Jason Holder.
The family will be at the funeral home from 4 to 5 p.m. today.
MINNIE OLA CAPTAIN
Services for Minnie Ola Captain, 94, of Gainesville, are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clement-Keel Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Butler of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in New Rest Haven Cemetery under the direction of the Clement-Keel Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mrs. Captain died Jan. 19, 2001, at her residence.
She was born April 11, 1908, in Bryan to William and Mattie Lee Lockhart. She married Cleveland Captain and was a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Cleveland Captain; son, Ernest Captain; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; sister, Lula Dancer of Lubbock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, James R. Lockhart and Clemmie Scott; and sisters, Willie Mae Hall and N. Ester Miller.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
BILL SMITHEY
DALLAS - Services for Bill Smithey were conducted Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J. Don George, the Rev. Edra Hudson and the Rev. Siegel Bartley officiating. Interment will follow at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park under the direction of the Laurel Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery in Mesquite.
Mr. Smithey died Feb. 12, 2001, in Dallas.
He was born Dec. 21, 1915, in Valley View.
Survivors include his daughters, Sue Oliver of Belton, Mo., and Kathi Tuttle of Irving; son, Michael Smithey of Mesquite; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Richard Smithey and R.E. Smithey; sisters, Lois Estes, Ellen Ripple and Jean Hamilton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
JIMMY PORTER
Graveside services for Jimmy Porter, 52, of Gainesville, are set for 4 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery with John Dickie officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mr. Porter died April 15, 2001, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 25, 1948, in Hillsboro, to James Morgan and Murl Hutchison. He was a carpenter.
Survivors include his father, James Morgan of Aurora; mother, Murl Sinclair of Azle; daughter, Shawna Harper of Denton; sons, Scotty and Stacey Porter, both of Lake Dallas; one grandchild; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and Jean Ann Canada of Azle; Terry and Tonnie Canada of Kingston, Okla., and Jerry and Connie Canada of Ardmore, Okla.; and sisters and brother-in-law, Elsie and Troy Cheek of Aurora and Gladys Beam of Gainesville.

FRANCES M. STARK
Memorial service for Frances M. Stark, 86, of Gainesville, is set for 3 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Joe Pool, pastor, and the Rev. Elwood S. Mrs. Stark died June 9, 2001, at Pecan Tree Manor.
She was born Jan. 24, 1915, in Noble, Okla., to Tom E. and Sally Effie Davis Bettes. On Nov. 24, 1947, she married Harold R. Stark in Bonita, Calif. A former resident of Hemet, Calif., she was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her sisters, Luda Schwedtferger of Gainesville and Bessie Gregory of Farmington, N.M.; brothers, Glen Bettes of Nocona and Frank Bettes of Fort Worth; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold R. Stark.
