Saige Naysa Price, 6 month old infant daughter of Brandon and Kristi Price of Andrews, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at Covenant Medical Center Lakeside in Lubbock.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 21, 2006 at First Baptist Church in Andrews. Dr. Jeff Donnell, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Andrews Cemetery.
Saige was born June 29, 2005 in Lubbock, Texas. Saige was a beautiful miracle from God, and her Daddy's little "Peanut".

MARIA ANNA VELA

Services for Maria Vela, 76 of Andrews, will be 3:00 PM Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Officiating will be Rev. Joseph Uecker. A rosary services will be at 7:00 PM Wednesday, January 18, 2006 in McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Ultimo Refujio Cemetery in Ojinaga, Mexico.
Maria died Tuesday, January 17, 2006 in Midland. She was born on July 26, 1929 in Santa Teresa, Mexico. She married Jose V. Vela on January 13, 1947 in El Alamo, Mexico. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.
Survivors include, husband Jose, Andrews; sons, Guadalupe Vela, Ojinaga, Mexico, Jose Luis Vela and Jamie Vela, both of Andrews. Daughter Margarita Favela, Chih, Mexico; brother Fredirico Munoz, Pedro, Mexico, 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. A son Jesus Isidro Vela preceded her in death.

Memorial services for Gertrude Creason Kinney, 94, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 20, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Raul Puente, Chaplain for Star Hospice, and Mrs. Kinney's Grandson, Robert Moore, officiating. Cremation is under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
Gertrude passed away on Monday, January 16, 2006 at her residence.
She was born on August 13, 1911 in Sibley, Missouri to Lige Creason and Minnie P. Benson Creason. She married David A. Kinney, Jr. on September 29, 1928 in Cleveland, Oklahoma. They moved to Andrews in 1950, where they started Kinney and Kinney in 1954. Kinney and Kinney later became Kinney, Inc. in 1956 which she owned until 1981. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband on February 8, 1962 and her son: David A. Kinney III in 1952.
She is survived by her daughter: Patricia K. Moore of Andrews; 4 grandchildren - Robert Moore and wife Cynthia; Kim and Kelly Kinney; Karen Foltz and husband Ronnie; David Kinney and Wife Jennifer. 11 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren.

Memorial services for Gene Sawyer, 55, of Andrews will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Cremation is under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
Gene passed away on Friday, January 13, 2006 at his residence in Andrews.
He was born April 11, 1950 in Rotan, Texas to James Weldon Sawyer and Mary Frances Cooper Sawyer. He lived in Andrews from 1952 - 1968 and served in the U.S. Navy for 22 1/2 years and retired as Petty Officer 1st Class. He served in Vietnam Era and Operation Desert Storm. He returned back to Andrews in 1993. He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his 2 sons: Jay Sawyer of San Angelo and Bryan Sawyer of Lamoore, California; 3 daughters: Amy Hale of Robert Lee, Brandi Sawyer of Friendswood, and Lyndsey Sawyer of San Marcos; mother: Frances Sawyer of Andrews; 3 brothers: Jimmy Sawyer of Abilene, Johnny Sawyer and wife Debbie of Andrews, and Mitch Sawyer and wife Michelle of Andrews; 2 sisters: Venita Shellman and husband Mike of Anaheim, California and Joretta Woods and husband Ken of Eldorado, Arkansas; and 8 grandchildren.

Rosary services for Miranda Irene Lopez-Gonzales, infant daughter of Isaiah Herrera Gonzales and Stephanie Renee Lopez, will be 7:00 PM Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews. Memorial services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, January 16, 2006 at the church. Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
Miranda was born and passed away on Friday, January 13, 2006 at Odessa Regional Hospital.
Miranda is survived by her parents; brother: Elijah Eloy Rodriguez of Andrews; grandparents: Eloy and Carolina Lopez of Andrews; and great grandparents: Cruz and Frances Lopez of Andrews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Johnny and Irene Gonzales.

Marion died Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Permian Regional Medical Center. She was born on March 14, 1926 at Gilmer, Texas. She married S.D. Williams on July 15, 1946 in Seminole, Texas. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include; daughters Sharon Starks, Andrews, Belinda McMennamy, Lubbock, Texas, Son Ron Williams, Dallas, Texas, brother Rev. Thommy G. Wallace, San Antonio, Texas, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and 2 great great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Ruth Tate on June 16, 1985, a brother John Wallace and a sister Margie Wallace.

Graveside Services for Ervey C. Montes, 70 of Andrews, will be 4:00 PM Wednesday January 11, 2006, at the Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home. Rev. Bernard Gully, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church will officiate.

Ervey died at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews on Monday, January 9, 2006. He was born on September 17, 1935 in Ojinaga, Chich, Mexico. Ervey married Marcela Olivas on May 9, 1961. He was a retired cattle importer for stockyards and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Survivors include; wife Marcela, Andrews, son,Luis Montes, Andrews, daughter, Martha Elena Montes, Andrews, mother Guadalupe Montes, Presidio, Texas, brothers, Jose and Mario both of Predidio, Texas, sisters, Ortencia Lopez, Houston, Texas and Luz Maria Cajica, Artesia, New Mexico, four grandchildren.

Funeral services for Homer Ray Guest, 50, of Gardendale will be 4:00 PM Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Rev. Trae Johnson, Pastor of Believers Way Church in Midland, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.
Homer passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at his residence in Gardendale.
Homer was born on January 20, 1955 in Beaver, Oklahoma to Forrest B. Guest and Marietta Dawn Rucker Guest. He was raised all of his life in Andrews and graduated from Andrews High School in 1972. He moved to Gardendale in 2002. He owned and operated Guest Welding Service for 30 years in Andrews and surrounding area, where he worked for oil pipeline companies and plants. He married Julie Kennedy on December 30, 1977 in El Paso. He loved being a cowboy all his life and started competing at a very young age. He had competed in calf roping, was a champion bull rider, and was an avid team roper for the last 20 years. He was a member of the United States Team Ropers Association, Coors Roping Association, and National Kidney Foundation. He was a member of Believers Way Church in Midland. He was preceded in death by his brother: Johnny B. Guest in 1959.
He is survived by his wife: Julie Guest of Gardendale; son: Jason McCoy of Kyle; daughter: Kelly Guest-Martin of Center Point; parents: Forrest B. and Marietta Guest of Andrews; 4 sisters: Haroletta Henry of Rockdale, Billy Dell Brumbelow of Hutto, Forrest Ann Roubison of Eldorado, and Jannie Lemond of Andrews.
Family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials may be sent to National Kidney Foundation, 306 West Wall Street, Midland, Texas 79701 on Homer's daughter's behalf. Kelly is on the transplant list for a kidney.

Jerry Awalt, 61, of Andrews passed away Friday January 6, 2006 at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Larry Brewer, Pastor of City of Refuge Church in Andrews, will officiate. Jerry's Brother-in-law, Cecil Robinson, and Glenn Cavitt will assist. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery.
Jerry was born September 11, 1944 in Hobbs, NM to Robert and Ellie Claire Awalt. He married Connie McDonald June 3, 1966 in Kermit, Texas. They moved to Andrews in 1983 from Bryan, Texas. He owned and operated Awalt Hot Oil Service since 1987. Jerry was a member of The City of Refuge Church in Andrews. He was an active member of the Kairos Prison ministry since 1996 and an active member of the High Sky Emmas also since 1996.
Preceding in death were; his parents-Robert and Ellie Claire Awalt; two sisters - Barbara Nell White and Norma Lee Robinson, and Grandson Johnathan Lee Grinslade.
Jerry is survived by; His Wife - Connie Awalt, of Andrews; Two daughters - Tammi Land and her husband Doug of Andrews; Teri Grinslade and her husband Jody of Andrews; One Son - Tim Awalt and his wife Shayla of Odessa; One Brother - L.A. " Arch" Awalt of Sacramento, California; One Sister - Mona Lee Coggan Hale of Tyler; Six Grandchildren - Rhea Lynn, Parker and Paige Grinslade and Ashley, Austin and Allison Land all of Andrews. And Jerry's Mother-in-law - Yvonne McDonald also of Andrews.
Pallbearers will be; Julian Nunez, Tim Thorton, Gill Warren, Jerry Jones, John Ritchey, and Jerry Dozier. Honorary Pallbearers are; Ken Black, Glenn Cavitt, Stan Morris and John Gross.

Jose Porras Vara, 76, of Kermit passed away Friday January 6, 2006 at Winkler County Memorial Hospital in Kermit.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday January 8, 2006 at Templo "La Nueva Jerusalem" Church in Andrews. Rev. Teodulo Garcia, Pastor will officiate.
Mr. Vara was born January 7, 1929 in Fort Stockton, Texas. He married Beatrice Hernandez in 1949 in Sanderson, Texas. they moved to Andrews from Sanderson in 1958 where he lived until 1989. He moved to Kermit in 2000 from Phoenix, Arizona.
He was Custodian for Andrews Independent School District for many years and he also worked at Permian General Hospital Andrews. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1986.
He is survived by: Three Sons - Joe Vara of Tomball, Texas; Jerry Vara of Kermit, Texas; and Jason Vara of Andrews; Three Daughters - Betty Clem of Garland; Mary Hughes of Phoenix, AZ; and Sally Abney of Andrews. One Sister - Candida V. Munoz of Kermit and 12 grandchildren.
LEROY W. JENNINGS

Profound love of God, country and family exemplifies the life of longtime Andrews resident LeRoy W. Jennings. He passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 after a courageous 2 year battle with esophageal cancer.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 7, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Andrews with Dr. Jeff Donnell and Doug Kello officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.
LeRoy was born on September 18, 1923, the only child of G.C. and Nettie Jennings in Coweta, Oklahoma. In 1942 at the age of 18, LeRoy enlisted in the US Air Force and became a glider pilot. He was part of the Battle of Normandy, as well as the invasion of southern France and Europe. He married Mary Beth Langford on February 3, 1946 in Nocona, Texas. LeRoy worked in Gainesville, Texas as an electrician before moving to Andrews in 1949. He then worked 36 years for Sinclair and ARCO, retiring in 1985. After retirement he enjoyed golf, fishing, dominoes, loved the outdoors, and spent many happy hours gardening. LeRoy was a long time member of the First Baptist Church, where he served many years on the funeral meals committee. He and his wife, Mary delivered Meals-On-Wheels for over 13 years. He was also a member of the Andrews Country Club, Andrews Masonic Lodge #1024, and the Shriners. LeRoy devoted his life to loving and caring for his family and was a devoted husband and father. Each day was a gift to cherish and LeRoy enjoyed it to the fullest.
LeRoy is survived by the love of his life, Mary Beth Jennings of Andrews. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary on February 3, 2006. He is also survived by two daughters, who were the light of his life: Cheri McLennan and husband, Mike of Midland and Jan Anderson and husband, Hal of Belton; 4 grandchildren: Scott, Kristi, Kyle, and Kendall; 2 great grandchildren: Rebecca and Jasmine.
Memorials may be sent to the Andrews Senior Center or Home Hospice.
