Briseño
Alfonso Guerra Briseño, 58, died Saturday, March 6, 2004, in Corpus Christi.
Visitation was held Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. Prayer service was held that evening at 7 o’clock at the same location. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with Father Lukose Thirunellipargmbil officiating. Burial followed in Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Joseph Gomez, Ramon Garcia, Juan Cantu, Adrian Garcia and Junior, Benny and Jimmy Briseño. Honorary pallbearers were Joshua Cantu, Jeremy Joseph Rivera and Emilio Treviño.
Mr. Briseño was born in Mathis on Sept. 17, 1945, to Catarino and Julia (Guerra) Briseño. He resided in Beeville and was a retired ranch worker.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Cantu and husband Marty of Beeville and Angie Briseño of Killeen; two sons, Armando Briseño and Alfonso Briseño Jr., both of Killeen; six sisters, Mary Dominguez and husband Ernest, Delia Garcia and husband Ramon, Josie Sanchez and husband Paul and Julie Medellin and husband Faustino, all of Beeville, Dora Gomez and husband Joseph of Victoria and Oralia Treviño and husband Lazaro of Skidmore; three brothers, Benny Briseño and wife Claudina of Goliad, Jimmy Briseño and wife Dalilia of Woodsboro and Catarino Briseño Jr. and wife Nina of Victoria; seven grandchildren, Joshua and Bianca Cantu, Angel Briseño, Sierra, Gabby and Alicia Avila and Armando Benancio Briseño.

Fugett
Faye Rene Pennington Fugett, 72, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at TexSan Heart Hospital in San Antonio.
She was born on Sept. 1, 1931, on the Pennington family farm east of Raymondville, to Beulah Faye Martin and James Alfred Pennington. After graduating from Incarnate Word High School, she moved to Corpus Christi, where she met and married her husband of 51 years, Thomas William Fugett. After several years of marriage, they moved to Raymondville for 34 years before retiring in San Antonio.
She was preceded in death by her father, J.A. Pennington, and her sister, Betty Jane Pennington Dreyer.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy; a son, Paul W. (Kim) Fugett; and grandchildren Scott and Sydney Fugett, all of San Antonio; mother and stepfather, Beulah Faye and Louis McGill of Beeville; stepmother, Julia Pennington, and half-brother, Joe A. Dorothea Pennington, all of Raymondville; half-sister, Janet Pennington Swinger of San Antonio; her special nieces (daughters) that she and her husband raised, Patricia Dreyer (Robert) Fisher of Alvin, Lynn Dreyer (Allan) Spence of Raymondville and Sherry Dreyer Handley of San Antonio; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services were held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Porter Loring Funeral Home chapel in San Antonio. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association or the organization of one’s choice.
Arrangements were handled through Porter Loring Funeral Home, San Antonio.

Selia Zambrano Gonzales, 77, died Friday, March 5, 2004, in Houston. She was a former Beeville resident.
Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church, with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial followed in Ross Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ben Gonzales, Joseph Sanchez, Abel Sanchez Jr, Oscar Zambrano, Ricardo Zambrano and Felipe Posada.
Mrs. Gonzales was born in Beeville on Nov. 27, 1926, to Felipe Sr. and Julia (Hinojosa) Zambrano. She was a housewife and a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her daughter, Irma G. Gonzales of Houston; two sons, Oscar L. and Ben Gonzales, both of Houston; her sisters, Ernestina Sanchez, Martha Perez and Julia Posada, all of Beeville; Hortencia Morgan of Ontario, Calif., and Beatrice Posada of Bloomington; two brothers, Felipe Zambrano of El Cajon, Calif., and Seniado Zambrano of Goliad; and one grandchild, Cecilia Gonzales of Houston.

Juanita Mata Ramirez, 91, died Thursday, March 4, 2004, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Rosary was recited Sunday at 7 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial followed in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers were Trinidad Salinas Jr., Tony Chapa Jr., Richard Farmer, David Ramirez, Teresita Ramirez, Maria Angelica Salinas and Cynthia Ramirez.
Mrs. Ramirez was born in Clareville on May 5, 1912, to Domingo and San Juana (Urbina) Mata. She resided in Beeville and was a housewife and a Catholic. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calistro Ramirez, who died on Nov. 19, 1980.
Survivors include her daughters, Dora R. (Miguel) Salinas of Orlando, Fla., and Beatrice (Trinidad) Salinas of Beeville; two sons, Calistro M. (Olga Z.) Ramirez Jr. of McGregor and Juan Ramirez of Beeville; a sister, Felipa Mata Infante of Alice; 25 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Richardson
Ida Richardson, 91, died Monday, March 8, 2004.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 2 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at the same location. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Mrs. Richardson was born in Lafayette, La., on Oct. 20, 1912, to Azoria and Clementine (Harris) Thomas. She married Preston Richardson on March 5, 1946, in Beeville. She had resided here since 1919 and was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. She was retired, after working for years cleaning houses and businesses.
Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, William Hill Richardson.
Survivors include her husband, Preston Richardson, and a daughter, Iantha Richardson, both of Beeville; a son, Thomas Richardson and wife Lil of Killeen; seven step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; and five step-great-great-grandchildren.

Frost
Mavis L. “Sandy” Frost died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005 in Ingleside. She was born Dec. 27, 1940, in Eldorado, Ark., and had lived in Ingleside for the past two years. Prior to moving to Ingleside, she was a resident of Beeville and Freer and worked for BP Petroleum as a production clerk for 17 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ingleside.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Don Frost, in 1981, her mother, Gladys Powell, and brother, Jimmy Harris.
Survivors include her three sons, Mike (Alayna) Frost of San Antonio, James Frost of Freer and Billy Don Frost Jr. of Beeville; four daughters, Becky (Jimmy) Garcia of Cedar Park, Iris (Adrian) Alaniz of Freer, Jennifer and Bonnie Frost, both of Ingleside; and 16 grandchildren.
Memorial services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Ingleside with the Rev. Hershiel McCarty officiating. Interment was conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hahl Cemetery in Freer.

Morris
Perry Steven Morris Sr., 75, died at his residence in Beeville on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005. He was born in Cando Sarles, N.D., on June 15, 1930. He was retired from civil service, serving 20 years at NAS Chase Field in Beeville.
Mr. Morris is survived by his wife of 50 years, Maxine Landtroop Morris of Beeville; one daughter, Melody (Mike) O’Brien of Richmond; one son, Perry Steven (Melinda) Morris Jr. of Giddings; one sister, Grace (Frank) Romanowaski of Lamont, Ill.; one brother, Thomas (Norma) Morris of Indianapolis, Ind.; and five grandchildren
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Morris and Faye Gaymon Morris.
Mr. Morris was a chaplain, served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years, served in Vietnam and was also a Navy Seabee.
Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Trevino Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church with Father Eddie Garcia officiating. Special music was provided by Smokey Neal and Pee Wee Pitmon. Burial followed at Beeville Memorial Park with full military honors.

Mr. Bynum
Darrell Travis Bynum, 78, of Houston, died Sunday, March 12, 2006.
Mr. Bynum served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Cooper Energy in the mid 1980s. He was an avid sportsman.
Visitation is set for Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Howard-Glendale Funeral Home in Houston. Funeral service will be Friday at the funeral home chapel.
Mr. Bynum is survived by his wife, Betty, two daughters, Darrelyn Smith and husband Elmer, Margaret Batcheler and husband Robert, son-in-law Larry Blaha; grandchildren, Wendy Villarreal, Carrie Chaffin, Darrell Smith, Jessie Smith and wife Sandy, James Batcheler, Gregory Batcheler, Jason Blaha and wife Anna and Andrea Villarreal; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eleanor Turner, Louise Greenwood, Joanne Romine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Blaha.

Oliver Gonzales Jr., 44, of Beeville, died Saturday, March 11, 2006, at his residence.
A rosary was recited Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial with full military honors followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2. Pallbearers were Derik Hartfield, Jesse Cavazos, Jay Camacho, Donald Hathaway, Michael Camacho and Melvin Cantu Jr.
Mr. Gonzales was born July 23, 1961, in Beeville to Oliver and Rose Mary (Hernandez) Gonzales Sr. He was a Catholic and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a construction worker.
Surviving him are his wife, Adelina Cantu Gonzales, son, Julian Gonzales, his parents, one sister, Rose Mary Hartfield, all of Beeville; one brother, Lorenzo Gonzales of Victoria; his maternal grandmother, Rosa Hernandez, and his paternal grandmother, Matiana Gonzales, both of Beeville.
Mr. Gonzales was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Manuel Hernandez, and his paternal grandfather, Pedro Gonzales Sr.

John R. Hyturria, 34, of Beeville, died Monday, March 13, 2006.
Visitation was held Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Lukose Thirunelliparambil officiating. Burial will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Joe Trevino, Fred Trevino, Mark Gallagher, Epi Garcia, Robert McKibben, Orlando Aleman, Charlie Trevino and Phillip Trevino. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Magana, Nieves Rodriguez and Joe Ray Aleman.
Mr. Hyturria was born May 7, 1971, in Beeville to Robert and Cecilia (Trevino) Hyturria. He was a graduate of A.C. Jones High School. He married Leticia Aleman on Aug. 28, 1999, in Beeville. He was employed as a correctional officer at the Garza West Unit. He was a Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hyturria.
He is survived by his wife, Leticia Hyturria, his daughter, Gabriella Hyturria, his mother, Cecilia Hyturria, a sister, Dorothy Hyturria (Jimmy Silvas), three nephews, Joshua, Joseph and Jordan, one niece, Journee, great-grandmother, Lupe Hyturria, all of Beeville; uncles, Joe Trevino and wife Peggy, Freddie Trevino, Charlie Trevino and wife Angie, all of Beeville, and Phillip Trevino and wife Carol of San Diego, Calif.; aunts, Grace Foster and Alcaria Carrizales and husband Juan of Beeville; and his in-laws, Ray and Diana Aleman of Beeville.

Mr. Ortiz
Alfonso “Al” Ortiz, 69, of Beeville, died Saturday, March 11, 2006.
A memorial service was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Brother Johnson officiating.
Mr. Ortiz was born Oct. 4, 1936, in El Paso to Virginia Solis and Medardo Ortiz. He married Margaret Martinez on Oct. 11, 1975, in Taos, N.M. He was an entrepreneur of retail and restaurant businesses. He was the owner of Pizza Palace in George West. Mr. Ortiz was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ortiz of Beeville; six children, Alfonso (Roxanne) Ortiz and Ralph (Mary) Ortiz, and Rebecca Ortiz, all of Houston, Jaime (Amy) Ortiz of Baton Rouge, La., Gary (Patsy) Ortiz and Gabriel Ortiz of Beeville; two stepchildren, Vince (Julie) Nava of Denver, Colo., and Roberta Nava of Fort Worth; one brother, Medardo (Terry) Ortiz of El Paso; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
