Bowen

Visitation was held at James Crowder Funeral Home in LaMarque on Monday, July 12, 2004 for Mike Bowen, 32, of Webster. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 13, in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Frank Hood officiating. Burial followed in Bold Springs Cemetery.
He was born January 8, 1972 in Livingston, the son of Jimmy and Elaine Bowen. He was a resident of Webster for one year, formerly from Livingston. He was a Livingston High School graduate of 1990 and a graduate of Stephen F. Austin University with a bachelor of science degree in business administration, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and attended Highlands Baptist Church of LaMarque.
Mr. Bowen died on Friday, July 9, 2004, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Heather Bowen of Webster; mother and father, Jimmy and Elaine Bowen of Livingston; grandparents, Virginia Aubrey, Hubert and Richard 'Dick' Hubert of Livingston; sister, Jill Bowen of Greeley, Colorado; mother and father-in-law, John and Karen McLemore of LaMarque; brother-in-law, Paul McLemore of LaMarque; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers were Tre' Oquin, Kent Saller, Rodney Watts, Jason Joice, Paul McLemore, Charles Orn and Brandon Pearson. Honorary pallbearers were Walter Wood, Steve McNeil, Cody Sears, David Bump, Cody Pinkard, Lyle Fattig, Trey Alvey and Chad Erb.

Davis
July 26, 2004
A memorial service for John Michael 'Mike" Davis, was held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004, at the residence of George and Cheryl Martin on Garret Road in Big Thicket Lake Estates.
He was born February 24, 1949 in Houston and died July 6, 2004 in Parwood Place Nursing Home. He was the son of Opal and John Davis and Christine and Jim Anglin.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his father, John Thomas Davis; brother, Kenny Davis; and grandmother, Annie L. Tazwell.
Survivors include his brothers and sisters, Larry and Dave Anglin, Linda Ruth McClung, Randy Davis and Linda Kay Bashier; nieces and nephews, Kym Pinkerton, Jessica and Cyrus Anglin; and many other nieces and nephews.
Brookside Funeral Home was in charge of cremation.
Douglass

A memorial service for David A. Douglass, 63, of Daisetta, was held Thursday, July 15, 2004, at First Baptist Church in Hull.
He died Sunday, July 11, 2004 at his residence after an illness. Mr. Douglass was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Stewart Bois; adopted parents, Angus and Beulah Stewart Douglass; and a special friend, Rosie Nilles.
Survivors include his wife, Mavis Carr Douglass of Hull; daughter, Margaret Douglass Pickett and husband, John, of Hull; grandchildren, Jack David Carver, Amanda Donell Fingleman and Earle Lesley Pickett; brothers, Stephen Stewart and Wayne Bois; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Gafford

Funeral services were held Friday, July 16, 2004, in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, for Howard Herman Gafford, 81, with the Rev. Frank Hood officiating. Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery, Onalaska. military honors were provided by VFW Post 8568.
He was born May 18, 1923, the son of Aubrey Burton Gafford and Lilley Parker Gafford.
Mr. Gafford died Tuesday, July 13, in Lumberton Rehabilitation Center in Lumberton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christina; his parents; brothers, Raymond Gafford and Gerald Gafford; his sister, Macel Fuller; and grandson, Brian Gafford.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Joan Gafford of Lumberton; daughter and son-in-law, Tom and Ricky Riley of Lumberton; sisters, Clara David, Iris Cliff and Chloe Hammond, all of Livingston and Lois Martin of Groves; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Smiers

Funeral services for Edward Lindsay Smiers, 85, were held Monday, July 12, 2004, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial followed in Houston National Cemetery in Houston.
He was born April 12, 1919 in Denison, the son of Herman L. and Alice Lee Thomson Smiers. Mr. Smiers served in the U.S. Army during World War II, having attained the rank of tech sergeant. He enlisted on April 28, 1943 and was discharged on October 29, 1945.
Mr. Smiers died Thursday, July 8, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Smiers; sister, Betty Williams; and son, Edward L. Smiers Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Smiers; sons, James L. Smiers of Houston, Leslie J. Smiers of Austin, Larry G. Smiers of Houston and Thomas Smiers of Onalaska; brother, H.L. Smiers of Woodville; grandchildren, Christina Cole, Lindsay Moehle, Christina Smiers, Tamara Rogers, Edward Smiers and James Smiers; and great-grandchildren, Abigail Bible, Monica Smiers and Marcella Smiers.
Pallbearers were the Knights of Columbus, George DeCou, Joe Bowen, Dave Morgan, James McGraff, Richard Jackson and Clinton Walter.

Woods

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004 at Faith Temple Evangelistic Center for James Earl Woods, 40, with Pastor Lonnie Freeman officiating. Burial followed in Shiloh Cemetery in Moscow.
He was born June 3, 1964 in Moscow, the son of James and Pennie Lee McCloud Woods. Mr. Woods died Tuesday, July 13, in Nacogdoches Medical Center, Nacogdoches. He was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Cassaundra Woods; father and step-mother, James and Dixie Woods; daughter, LaKindra Woods of Corrigan; son, James Woods of Corrigan; daughter, LaKiva Woods of Corrigan; son, Joshua Woods of Corrigan; sisters, Patricia Walker of Corrigan, Ruby Robertson of The Woodlands, Sandra Kaye Curtis of Houston and Barbara Anne Woods of Houston; brothers, Larry Woods, Terrance Woods and Chris Hall, all of Houston; brothers-in-law, Joe Nathan Walker, Corley Bailey, Shane Bailey and Shannon Bailey, all of Corrigan; grandmother, Katherine McCloud of Corrigan; mother-in-law, Iris Bailey of Corrigan; special friend, Mari Anne Shine of Corrigan; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Carter

Funeral services were held Friday, July 9, 2004, for Daniel W. Carter, 38, of Livingston, at Pace Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sam Steele officiating. Interment followed in Restland Cemetery.
He was born on December 16, 1965 in Ontario, Oregon to parents Donald W. Carter Jr. and Patricia Points Carter. He was a boat captain for Seabulk Offshore, Limited. He had been an area residence since 1962. He married his wife, Karla, on April 4, 1994. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1985 until 1988.
Mr. Carter died on Tuesday, June 29, 2004, in Equatorial Guinea, West Africa.
Survivors include his wife, Karla, of Livingston; three children, Devin Wade Carter, Shasha Elaine Sanford-Carter and Shannon Rae Sanford-Carter, all of Livingston; his father, Donald W. Carter Jr. of Springfield, Oregon; his mother, Patricia Carter of Nyssa, Oregon; grandmothers, Velma Carter and Norma Points, both of Oregon; and sisters, Candice Donohoo of Gainesville and Catharine Carter of Albany, Oregon.

Easley

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 7, 2004, in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, for Mildred Rowena Easley, 85, with the Rev. Fred Alford officiating. Burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery.
She was born September 28, 1918 in Daingerfield, the daughter of James and Ava Miller Taylor. Mrs. Easley was a member of Blanchard Baptist Church and a resident of Polk County for the past 25 years.
Mrs. Easley died Monday, July 5, at Pineridge Health Care in Livingston. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Howard Easley; her parents; two daughters, Linda Sopezao and Sarah Marlow and two grandchildren, Nancy Linares and Danny McAfee.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James and Monica Easley of Livingston; daughters, Wanda McAfee of Livingston, Melba Edison and Gale Easley, both of Mineola; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Donald Marlow, Jeremy Treat, Ronny McAfee, Jason Mestas, Christopher Linares, Freddie Mestas and Pete Mestas.

Foster

Funeral services for Edwin Derral Foster, 82, were held Sunday, July 4, 2004, at Cochran Funeral Home with Bro. Windle Kee officiating.
He was born June 20, 1922 in Montague County, the son of Andrew Elbert Foster and Maybell Harriet Thurman Foster. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, having attained the rank of staff sergeant.
Mr. Foster died Friday, July 2, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Derral Van Foster; and brother, Clois Foster.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Foster; and sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Ray Krueger of Burleson.

Garrett

Bruce D. Garrett, 77, of Putnam's Landing died on Thursday, July 1, 2004.
Mr. Garrett was born on June 30, 1927 in Brighton, Tennessee. He spent most of his life in Bradenton, Florida, where he attended Manatee High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He considered his place in Livingston his piece of paradise.
Survivors include his son, Michael Bruce Garrett, his wife Rose, and grandson, David; and daughter, Cathy Mindiola, and her husband, Ron, and granddaughters, Amanda, Christina and Elissa; sister, Margaret Mitchell of Bradenton, Florida and many friends.
military honors were rendered at his service at Houston National Cemetery on Wednesday, July 7.
Reeves

Funeral services for Christell Reeves, 87, of Livingston, were held Monday, July 5, at Pace Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank E. Hood officiating. Interment followed in Peebles Cemetery.
Mrs. Reeves was born on October 3, 1916 in Houston County, the daughter of Albert and Cora Robson Baker. She married Henry B. Reeves on October 23, 1936, and he preceded her in death on January 1, 2002. She was a member of the Full Gospel Nondenominational Church.
She died Friday, July 2, 2004, at her residence. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Cricket and Margaret Reeves.
Survivors include four children, David Reeves of Livingston, Joyce Smith and husband, Pete, of Jasper, Patricia White of Livingston and Nelda Valderez and husband, Manuel, of Livingston; two sisters, Iva Smith of Crockett and Bonnie Johnson of Grand Prairie; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Don White Jr., Michael White, David Reeves Jr., Chris Reeves, Henry Reeves and Randy Valaderez.
