Polly Ann Davis Withers
GROVETON -- Services for Polly Ann Davis Withers, 94, of Nogalus Prairie were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, in the Prairie View Methodist Church with Bro. Larry Dunn officiating.
Burial followed in the Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Withers died Tuesday, Oct. 21, in Nogalus Prairie.
She was born Oct. 29, 1908, in Nogalus Prairie and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Prairie View Methodist Church.
Mrs. Withers was preceded in death by a son, Claude Davis; and a daughter, Eva Black.
Survivors include six children and their spouses, Elouise and Bill Weldon of Huntsville, Cleo McCool of Shepherd, Grover Ashworth of Groveton, Dewey and Ruth Ashworth of Kennard, Cleon and Doris Ashworth of Trinity, and Charles Ashworth of Groveton; a brother, Clarence Davis of Nogalus Prairie; a sister, Minnie Ola Smith of Groveton; 41 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; a number of great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers included Joey Townsend, Mike Isbell, Wayne Isbell, John Kenneth Nobles, Steven Nobles and Truman Withers.
Groveton Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

Eunice Theresa Etheredge Bruce
TRINITY -- Graveside services for Eunice Theresa Etheredge Bruce, 98, of Uvalde were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, in the Thornton Cemetery near Trinity with the Rev. Larry Bewley, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church officiating.
Mrs. Bruce died Sunday, Oct. 26, in Uvalde.
She was born July 5, 1905, in Normangee and was employed as a nursing aide in the New Baby Division of the Pasadena Memorial Hospital. At the time of her death, she resided in the Ahmistad Nursing Center in Uvalde.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Charles Dodson of Brackettville; a son-in-law, Charles Green; a sister, Quida Tullos of Pasadena; two grandchildren, Carl Ray Bruce and Tracey Dorris; and five great-grandchildren, Amanda, Ray, Katherine, Heather and Jason.
Trinity Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

Thomas Irvin Bell
TRINITY -- Memorial services for Thomas Irvin Bell, 74, of Houston were held Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, in Kline Funeral Home Chapel in Tomball.
His pastor, Hubert Edinfield, officiated with music provided by Stuart Sheeham and the eulogy was delivered by Charlie Lambert.
Graveside services were in the Shiloh Cemetery near Mount Enterprise with Pastor Roland Alsobrooks of the Atoy United Methodist Church officiating.
Mr. Bell died Monday, Oct. 27, in Tomball Regional Hospital.
He was born April 24, 1929, in Trinity, the son of Horace  Jones and Ella Lee (Toole) Bell. Mr. Bell graduated from Trinity High School in 1949 and attended East  Texas Baptist College and the University of Houston.
While attending school, he worked for the McBroom Smith Ranch before getting a job as a surveyor for the City of Houston Water Department where he was employed for 40 years. Mr. Bell also worked as a security guard in different businesses in Houston.
Mr. Bell accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in the Dorcas Wills Memorial Baptist Church of Trinity. He was a member of the Northwest Church in Houston.
He was married to Dorothy Chaney in 1967 and the couple adopted three children, Debbie, Johnny and Kevin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brothers, David and Daniel Bell; and a sister, Ruby Muery.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Timothy Starr of Porter; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Johnny Bell of Kenwood,  Calif., and Kevin and Susan Bell of Sulphur Springs; three brothers and sisters-in-law, John J. and Audrey Bell, William and Millie Bell of Crockett and Joe Edward and Joyce Bell of Sacul; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Elizabeth Bright, Ruth and George Zuckero and Frances Jan and E.B. Pousson of Crockett; a brother-in-law, Dempsey Muery of Bellville; five grandchildren, Joshua Starr, Robert Starr, Destin Starr, Michael Bell and Johnthan Bell; a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends.
Kline Funeral Home of Tomball directed the arrangements.

Frank Tulla Olson
TRINITY -- Services for Frank Tulla Olson, 84, of Trinity were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, in the Waller-Thornton Funeral Chapel in Trinity.
Burial followed in the Carlisle Cemetery.
Mr. Olson died Wednesday, Oct. 29, in Lufkin.
He was retired after more than 33 years of service with the Union Pacific Railroad. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Olson served during World War II, obtaining the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Army Strategic Air Forces.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Olson, in 1999.
Survivors include two sons and their spouses, Frank and Elda Olson Jr. and Greg and Clair Olson; a brother-in-law, Junior Hicks; four grandchildren and their spouses, Troy and Stacey Olson, Michelle and Brian Wolferts, Dustin and Keely Olson and Monty Olson; seven great-grandchildren, Gideon Olson, Savannah Olson, Ethan Olson, Brittany Wolferts, Sydney Wolferts and Dannielle Wolferts and Oakley Olson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Waller-Thornton Funeral Home of Trinity directed the arrangements.

Willie L. Perkins
TRINITY -- Services for Willie Lewis Perkins, 91, of Trinity were held at noon Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at the Harris CME Church in Trinity with the Rev. DeBose officiating.
Burial followed in the Trinity Community Cemetery.
Mr. Perkins died Wednesday, Oct. 29.
He was born Aug. 12, 1911, in Weldon, the third of nine children born to Will and Moten Wright Perkins. Mr. Perkins accepted Christ at an early age and became a charter member of the Carter Metropolitan CME Church in Detroit, Mich. He served that church as president of the steward board before returning to  Texas where he was united with the Harris Chapel CME Church of Trinity.
Mr. Perkins attended public school in Trinity, attended Sam Houston State University and earned a certificate from a barber college.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a member of the Michigan and Ohio State Bowler League and the Postal Union. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years prior to his retirement.
Mr. Perkins also served in the U.S. Army from April 1943 until February 1946 when he was honorably discharged.
He was married to Garnette McKee Perkins in 1943.
Mr. Perkins was preceded in death by his wife on Aug. 12, 1999; his parents; two sisters, Maple Perkins West and Nuna Perkins Frost; three brothers, Hoxie Perkins, T.L. Perkins and Fred Perkins; a sister-in-law, Josie McAdams Perkins; and two brothers-in-law, Andrew Nauls and Clyde Frost.
Survivors include one brother, Hill H. Perkins of Trinity; a sister, Ethel Lee Perkins Nauls of Houston, a brother-in-law, Sam West; a sister-in-law, Laurine Perkins; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Emanual Funeral Home of Crockett directed the arrangements.

David T.C. Smith
TRINITY -- David T.C. Smith, 66, of Jupiter, Fla., died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, in the Hospice of Palm Beach County in Florida.
Mr. Smith was born and reared in Houston, son of the late David and Bernice Thomas Smith. He resided in The Bahamas before moving to Jupiter, Fla., 18 years ago.
Mr. Smith was employed as a human resource manager and specialized in the execution of General Electric Lockheed Martin government contracts. He was an avid golfer and a member of the North Palm Beach Country Club.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Lorraine H. Smith; four children, Scott Smith, Deborah Sampson, John Barnett and Debra Leonette; a sister, Sally Brooke Palmer of Trinity; and seven grandchildren, Sean, Justin, Timothy, Bobby, Cori, Stephanie and Stepahnie B.
In keeping with his unselfish nature during his life, Mr. Smith donated his remains to the University of Miami Anatomical Board for medical research.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of David T.C. Smith may be made to the Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
William N. Howard Funeral Home of North Palm Beach, Fla., directed the arrangements.

Joshua Wayne Thrash
TRINITY -- Joshua Wayne Thrash, 18, died Oct. 25, 2003.
He was born July 27, 1985.
Survivors include his parents, John and Genea Cannon Thrash; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Chaiza and Jarrod Clark and Falesha Thrash; his grandparents, Eugene and Shelby Cannon of Trinity and Paul and Jean Chapman; his great-grandmother, Ellen Bedsole; and two nephews, Matthew Clark and Mitchell Clark.
Rosewood Funeral Home of New Caney directed the arrangements.

David Clinton Brown
TRINITY -- Graveside services for David Clinton Brown, 38, of Trinity were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Trinity with the Rev. Jim Parrish officiating.
Mr. Brown died Thursday, Nov. 6, at his residence in the Lake L Acres subdivision near Trinity.
He was a self-employed construc-tion contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Ruth Brown; his father and mother, Ronnie and Laura Brown; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jason and Deidra Brown, Douglas Brown and Amber Ogden and Ronnie Lee and Crystal Brown; two sisters, Rhonda Babcock and Lori Brown; his grandmother, Doris Ivins; eight nieces and nephews; and special cousins, Michael Sprang and Kristi Knight.
Waller-Thornton Funeral Home of Trinity directed the arrangements.

Floye Delores "Dottie" Burleson
TRINITY -- Graveside services for Floye Delores "Dottie" Burleson, 88, were held Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, in the Evergreen Cemetery in Lovelady with the Rev. Kevin King officiating.
Mrs. Burleson died Wednesday, Nov. 5, in Houston with her daughter and other family members at her side.
She was born Oct. 10, 1915, in Houston County, the daughter of the late Lem and Blanche  Jones Arnold. She was known as a quiet Christian woman and was a homemaker all of her life.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Mel Beyer; one granddaughter and her spouse, Debra and Randy Sullivan; two great-grandchildren, Jason Sullivan and Nathan Sullivan; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Waller-Thornton Funeral Home of Trinity directed the arrangements.

Margaret E."Mike" Doucet
ROSENBERG -- Rosary services for Margaret E. "Mike" Doucet, R.N., of Rosenberg and formerly of Trinity were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg.
A memorial service followed at 11 a.m.
At a later date, her ashes will be placed beside those of her late husband, R. Lester Doucet, in the Houston National Cemetery.
Mrs. Doucet died peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 6.
She was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Louise. After graduating from Louise High School, she attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing, graduating in 1943.
Mrs. Doucet was known as a proud and dedicated nurse who was always concerned about the welfare of her patients. She worked for Dr. C.A. Calhoun for 22 years before serving for 11 years as the nursing supervisors in charge of surgery at the Kelsey Seybold Clinic in Houston.
After retiring in 1985, she moved to the Westwood Shores development near Trinity where she enjoyed golf and church work.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Gus and Ida Kunz Vajdos; and by a brother, Stanley Vajdos.
Survivors include three sisters, Gertrude Brezina of Louise, Florence Hradecky of Humble and Rosalie Bezdek of Pasadena; and two brothers, Robert "Gipson" Vajdos and Gus Vajdos, both of Louise.
Honorary pallbearers included A.J. High of Pearland, Julius Wedemayer of Galveston, Leonard L. Wells of Montgomery and Vincent Giradino, Tom Harris, Elwood Kettler, Larry McMichael and Carroll Webb, all of Trinity.
Additional honorary pallbearers were the members of the Westwood Shores Women's Golf Association and members of the Ladies Guild of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Trinity.
Special honorary pallbearers were Jackie Greer of Houston and Andrea McMichael of Conroe.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Toys For Tots, Rt. 4, Box 3687, Trinity,  Texas 75862, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home of Rosenberg directed the arrange-ments.
