EDDY - October 5 (suddenly in hospital), of Willard Grove East, Stanhope. William Donald, aged 68 years, dearly loved husband of Bett, a loving father, father-in-law, grandad and great-grandad. Will friends please meet for service in St. Thomas' Church, Stanhope on Thursday, October 12 at 11.00 a.m., followed by interment.


EDDY - October 5 (suddenly in hospital). William Donald, aged 68 years, a dearly beloved brother of Alan, a dearly loved brother-in-law of Angela, also a loving uncle to Alison and Christopher and a great-uncle to Luke, Anthony, Joshua and Benjamin. Treasured memories


EGLINGTON - October 6, (peacefully, in hospital), of Darlington. Mary Jane, aged 83 years. Dearest and deeply loved wife of the late William (Bill), loving mother of Christine and Colin, also a much loved sister, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, (head teacher of Darlington Mayfair School 1969 to 1980). The funeral service will take place on Monday October 16, 1.45p.m. at Darlington Crematorium. Family flowers only by request. Donations in lieu if so desired may be made to, The Gateway Club (plate at Crematorium).


EGLINGTON - My sister Mary fought so bravely. We pay our last respects to a real lady. Will miss you. Irene, Peter, Val and Mike.


ELKINS - Harold Douglas (Doug), aged 88 years and his loving wife Sheila Alice (nee Peacock), aged 68 years, of Whitcliffe Grange, Richmond, died tragically together on October 6. Much loved and greatly missed by all their family and many friends. Funeral service at Richmond Methodist Church on Tuesday, October 17 at 1.30 p.m., followed by private interment. Friends please meet at the church. Family flowers only please, if desired, donations may be given on the plate provided in the church for the Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team.


ELLIOTT - October 5, (peacefully at home). Jean, aged 70 years, of Thirsk. Wife of the late Johnny, a dear mother of Helen and Andrew and the late Jayne, a dear nana of Craig and Kristopher. Would friends please meet for service at York Crematorium on Thursday October 12, at 2.30 p.m.


FISHWICK - Walter October 4, peacefully, in Gretton Court, Hartle-pool. Walter, aged 86 years, dearly beloved husband of Molly, dear dad of Alan and the late Jeff and Linda, dear father-in-law of Doreen, also a much loved granda of Helen and Paul. Funeral cortege to leave Walter's residence on Thursday for service in Stranton Cemetery Chapel, Hartlepool at 11.40 a.m., prior to interment in Stranton Cemetery, Hartlepool. Friends and neighbours are kindly invited, please meet at the Cemetery Chapel.


FORSTER - Mary (nee Masters), of Stanley, Crook on October 13, aged 70 years, peacefully and with dignity in hospital, after a sudden illness. Deeply loved wife and best friend of Peter, treasured mum of Julie and much adored gran of Sarah and Kathryn, also a wonderful mother-in-law of Dougie. Sorely missed by family and friends. Will friends please meet for service in St. Thomas' Church, Stanley, Crook on Thursday, October 19 at 10.00 a.m., followed by interment in Crook Cemetery.


GALLOWAY - Gilesgate Suddenly in hospital, on October 10, aged 74 years. Margaret, the devoted wife of John, much loved mam of Teresa, also dear sister-in-law of Alice. Margaret will be sadly missed by all her loving family and friends. Friends please meet for Requiem Mass at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Gilesgate on Wednesday, October 18 at 2.00 p.m., followed by cremation at Durham Crematorium. By request, family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Gilesgate and St. John's Methodist Chapel, High Pittington. Margaret will be received into church on Tuesday, October 17 at 6.00 p.m.


GAMSBY - October 8, peacefully at home, after a short illness borne with great courage and dignity, of Bamborough Road, Ferryhill. Judith (nee Greathead), aged 61 years, dearly loved wife of Dave and a much loved mam of Lee and Shaun Rankin, mother-in-law of Joanne, devoted sister of Brian and the late Kenneth Greathead and daughter of John and Roselie. Cortege leaving residence at 12.30 p.m. on Friday, October 13 for service and committal at Durham Crematorium at 1.00 p.m.


GASH - October 5, of Kelloe (formerly of West Cornforth). Edwin (Eddie), aged 82 years, beloved husband of the late Alice, a dear brother of Dot, loving dad of Elaine, Yvonne and Sylvia, dear father-in-law of Peter, much loved grandad and great-grandad, special friend of John and Anne. Friends please meet for service at Holy Trinity Church, West Cornforth on Friday, October 13 at 2.15 p.m. followed by private cremation. By request please do not wear dark clothing. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu, if so desired to be sent to The Great North Air Ambulance. Everyone welcome after service for refreshments at The Square and Compass, West Cornforth.


GASKIN - October 8, peacefully at The Gardens Care Home, Darlington. Thomas Henry, aged 86 years, dearly loved husband of the late Mary Ann, much loved dad of Margaret and Stephen, loving grandad of Ian and Andrew and great-grandad of Nicole, Daisy, Ella and Beau. Funeral Friday. Friends please meet for service in Darlington Crematorium at 10.15 a.m. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, may be given at the service for Cancer Research UK.


GIBBS - Florence Mary died October 11, aged 63 years in Scotland formerly of Shotton Colliery. Loving daughter of the late Nellie Holdsworth, dearest sister of Margaret, John and David, sister-in-law of Bobby, Valerie and Margaret and a loving aunt and great aunt.


GILL - October 6, peacefully after a short illness. Pauline (nee Hodgson), aged 58 years, of Crook, beloved wife of Ken, devoted mam of Paul and Stef and the late Jacqui, dear mother-in-law to Jacqueline and Kathryn Ann, a much loved and loving nana, also a dear sister, sister-in-law and aunt. Will friends please meet for service in Crook United Methodist Church, Dawson Street at 10.30 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, followed by cremation at Durham.


GORTON - October 7, peacefully in hospital. Dennis, aged 74 years, of Trimdon Village. Beloved husband of the late Nancy, loving father of Joseph, Sharon and Dennis, a much loved father-in-law, grandad and brother. Funeral service to take place on Monday, October 16 at St. Mary Magdalene Church, Trimdon Village at 10.30 a.m., prior to cremation at Durham Crematorium. Friends invited, please meet at the church. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu, if so desired, to Cancer Research, 114 Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, TS1 2JR.


GRAHAM - October 10 (peacefully after a long illness fought with determination, courage and dignity), of Shildon. Betty (nee Strophair), aged 76 years, beloved wife of the late Robert (Sally), a devoted and dearly loved mam of Judy, also a much loved sister of Jean and the late Tom and Margaret, a dear mother-in-law, aunt and great-aunt. Will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends. Cortege to leave from her daughter's residence. Friends to meet at St. John's Church, Shildon on Wednesday, October 18 at 12.00 noon for a service prior to cremation at Durham. Family flowers only please. Newrick, aged 88 years, beloved husband of Lilian, devoted dad of Lilian and Margaret, dear father-in-law to Keith and Trevor, much loved grandad of Jane and John, also loving great-grandad to Katie-Jayne. Cortege will leave his daughter's residence in Tow Law at 9.20 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18 for service in St. Philip and St. James' Church, Tow Law at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment in Thornley Road Cemetery. Will friends please meet at church.


GRAY - (Of M Gray Haulage) On October 7, peacefully in hospital. Maurice, aged 75 years, of Darlington, dearly beloved husband of Audrey, much loved dad of Michele, Stuart and father-in-law of Julie, adored grandad of Carl, Sophie, Laura and Katy. Funeral Tuesday, October 17. Would friends please meet for service in St. Andrew's Church, Haughton at 10.45 a.m., prior to cremation. 'Will be greatly missed'

HAMMEL - October 7, (suddenly, in hospital), of Esh Winning and formerly of Langley Park. Gordon, aged 72 years. Loving husband of Mavis, loving father of Barbara and Kate, also a dear grandfather and father-in-law. Friends please meet for service at St. Andrew's Methodist Church, Langley Park on Tuesday October 17, at 12.30 p.m. Cremation to follow. All welcome back to St. Andrew's church hall afterwards. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu if desired in his memory to church funds.
