THOM September 4 (passed away peacefully in The Weardale Community Hospital, Stanhope after a long illness), of Etherley Dene, Bishop Auckland (late of Horden). David Charles (Dave), aged 54 years, devoted husband of Lynda (nee Curry), a much loved dad of Joanne and Lorraine, a very dear brother, bother-in-law, son-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin and special friend. Will be very greatly missed by all who knew him. Would friends and family please meet in St. Mary's Church, Horden Wednesday for a service at 12.30 p.m. followed by committal at Durham Crematorium. Family flowers only. Donations if desired for 'Weardale Community Hospital', via the family.

WALL August 23, tragically, whilst on active service in Iraq. Colin, aged 34 years (serving Warrant Officer 2 of 150 Pro. Coy. R.M.P.), formerly of Crawleyside, Weardale. Loving husband of Trish, devoted daddy of Alexander, Lauren and Robert, also a much loved son of Joan and Barry. Funeral service to take place on Thursday, September 11 at St. Thomas' Church, Stanhope, Co. Durham at 1.00 p.m., prior to cremation at Durham. Friends kindly invited, please meet at the Church. WALTON August 31, 2003 (peacefully), in Burton on Trent, formerly of Briardene Avenue and Marton Road, Middles-brough. Violet (Vi) (nee Dearlove), aged 92 years, beloved wife of the late Roland Walton and most adored and respected mother of Barbara (Ellerton) and Neil, greatly loved by David and Dee, her nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Jack, aged 88 years, dearly loved husband of the late Sylvia, very dear father of Barry, much loved father-in-law of Vera and devoted grandad of David and Garry. Funeral service to be held at St. Mary's Church, Richmond on Friday, September 5 at 1.30 p.m., followed by cremation at Darlington Crematorium at 2.45 p.m. Family flowers only please. However, donations in memory of Jack, if so desired, may be given for the Great North Air Ambulance Service, c/o Simon Barningham, Manor Farm, Grinton, Richmond, North Yorks., DL11 6HL. Will friends please meet at the church and accept this intimation.

WILKIN The Ven. Edward L. Wilkin, aged 76 years, formerly of Dalton on Tees, died August 23, in Burnaby, Canada.

Ruth Evelyn, aged 90 years, beloved wife of the late Matthew, a much loved mam of the late Judith, dearly loved nanna of Kenneth and a loving aunty to Janis and Dorrie. Friends please meet at St. Giles' Church, Gilesgate on Wednesday, September 10 at 11.30 a.m. Interment to follow in South Road Cemetery.

ADDISON Hazel September 7 (peacefully, in hospital). Hazel (nee Smith), aged 69 years, of Thornaby (formerly of Normanby, High Farm). Dearly loved wife of Colin, dearest mum of Stuart and Julie, dear mother-of-law of Kath and Stephen, a much loved grandma of Andrew and Emily. Service and cremation at Teesside Crematorium Tuesday September 16, at 11.30 a.m. (St. Bede's Chapel). Friends please meet at Crematorium. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu if desired may be sent to, Stroke Unit, ward 40, University Hospital of North Tees, Hardwick, Stockton.

ALDERSON Harry Geoffrey, of Richmond, at the Friarage Hospital on September 5. Private cremation at Darlington Crematorium on Wednesday, September 10.

ALLAN Douglas Aged 78 years. September 8, (late of Gainford). In hospital in Port Fairy, Australia. Dearly loved brother of Joyce and Kitty, beloved husband of Vera and father of Robyn. Will be sadly missed by us all.

BANKS September 8 (suddenly, in hospital), of Newton Aycliffe. Annette, aged 56 years, beloved wife of the late James, loving mum of Amanda and mother-in-law of John, a much loved daughter of Brenda and the late Ted and sister of Jeanette, Edward and the late Lynette. The funeral service will take place on Monday, September 15 2.30 p.m. at St. Clare's Church, prior to interment in Stephenson Way Cemetery.

BARNINGHAM Alwyne On August 17, of Beech House West, Burtersett Road, Hawes and formerly of Thwaite in Swaledale. A Thanksgiving Service for Alwyne's life will be held at St. Margaret's Church, Hawes tomorrow, Saturday, September 13 at 2.00 p.m. All friends are very welcome.

BARRASS September 3, formerly of Broompark. Joan, aged 82 years, beloved wife of the late Bobby, much loved mother of Ian and Elaine, mother-in-law of Sheila and Geoff and a dear grandma and great-grandma. Friends please meet for service and cremation at Durham Crematorium on Friday, September 12 at 11.30 a.m. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu may be given after the service for St. Cuthbert's Hospice.

BARROW September 10 (peace fully, in hospital), of Westminster Road, Darlington. Vincent, aged 68 years, much loved husband of Marion, also a loving father, step-father and grandad. Funeral Tuesday September 16. Would friends please meet 9.45 a.m. for service at Darlington Crematorium.

BARTRAM September 5 (in hospital), of Norby Estate, Thirsk (formerly of Thornton Stud). James Arthur (Peter), aged 78 years, beloved brother of Eva and George, a dear uncle and great-uncle. The funeral service will be held at St. Michael and All Angels' Church, Maunby on Friday, September 12 at 2.00 p.m., followed by interment. Would friends please meet at the church.

BLAIR Rita (nee Watson) Formerly of East Stanley. Died September 2, peacefully in hospital down South. Funeral took place on Wednesday September 10.

BOYD September 7. Connie (nee Mair), aged 90 years of Romanby, Northallerton. Beloved wife of the late Doctor Boyd, much loved mother of Lorna and Ian, dearly loved grandmother of Rowena, Edward, Jamie, Stuart and Philip and a much loved mother-in-law of Jean and Mike. Funeral service to be held at Darlington Crematorium on Monday September 15 at 1.45 p.m. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to Diabetes U.K.

BROWN September 9, peacefully, of West Auckland. Charlie, aged 95 years, loving husband of the late Nora, dearly loved dad of Pauline and dearest father-in-law of Brian. Friends please meet for service The Wear Valley Christian Centre on Tuesday, September 16 at 1.45 p.m., followed by interment in West Auckland Cemetery. Many thanks to Devonshire House Nursing Home for their kindness and care.

Dearly beloved wife of the late Thomas Fenwick, much loved mam of Jennie, Bob, Fen and Sarah, also a dear mother-in-law and devoted grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma. Cortege to leave Ridgeway House on Monday for service at Holy Trinity Church, Wingate at 2.30 p.m., prior to cremation at Hartlepool Crematorium. CAYGILL September 4, (in hospital), of 14 Esh Hillside, Langley Park. Dick, aged 81 years. Dearly beloved husband of Iris, much loved dad, also devoted granda and great-granda. Cortege leaving home residence on Wednesday September 10 at 12.40 p.m. for service and cremation in Durham Crematorium at 1.00 p.m. Friends please meet at the cremator ium. By request family flowers only. Donations in lieu to, Cancer Research U.K (Memorial Fund), c/o Phillip Hayton, 10 Brookside, Sacriston. Sadly missed.

CLARKE September 6, of Ushaw Moor. Ernest, aged 82 years, dearly loved husband of Olive and will be sadly missed by all the family. Would friends please meet for service in St. Joseph's R.C. Church on Wednesday, September 10 at 1.15 p.m. Private cremation to follow. Donations in lieu of flowers, for the British Heart Foundation, may be given or sent to N. COATES On September 9, 2003 (peacefully at the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton, after a short illness), of Calvercote, Gunnerside. Alan David, dearly loved brother of Diana, a very dear uncle, great-uncle and great-great-uncle. Family funeral service and cremation. A celebration of Denis' life will be held in the Jubilee Room at the Bowes Museum on Thursday, September 18 at 3.00 p.m.

CURL September 3, of Dur-ham. Edith, aged 86 years (former Headmistress in many schools around the County). Loved daughter of the late George and Isobel Curl, late of Meadow-field. Was privately cremated at Durham Crematorium yesterday, Monday, September 8.
