MEADOWVIEW -- Mrs. Margaret Preston Ryburn, 98, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, in Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie.
She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., and a member of Rock Spring Presbyterian Church.
She was the widow of William T. Ryburn.
Survivors include two sons, Sam Ryburn and Tom Ryburn, both of Abingdon; three daughters, Bess Ryburn, Meadowview, Emily Reed, Stuart, Va., and Katherine Minton, Wytheville; one sister, Minnie Bess Epperson, Denham Springs, La.; four grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

MARION -- Hazel Leona "Granny" Sheets, 80, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998.
She was a resident of Francis Marion Manor, where she was vice president of the Residents' Council, and was a member of Valley View Baptist Church.
Survivors include five sons, Raymond Sheets, Marvin Sheets and Sherman "Buffalo" Sheets, all of Sugar Grove, Joe Sheets, Princeton, W.Va., and Willis Sheets, Kegley, W.Va.; four daughters, Alice Parks, Becky Bise and Connie Gilley, all of Sugar Grove, and Martha Morrell, Bristol, Tennessee; two sisters, Dorothy Martin, Peach Bottom, Pa., and Frances Hayes, Bluff City; 30 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

NORTON -- Ann R. Stapleton, 49, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, in St. Mary's Hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of the Norton area and attended Freedom of Worship Church.
Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Samuel E. Stapleton; her father, Thurman Raleigh, Norton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Robert C. Taylor
The Rev. Robert C. "Bob" Taylor, 86, of 909 VI Ranch Road, Bristol, Tenn., died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area, a 1954 graduate of Mountain Preacher Bible School, Pineville, Ky., and attended Campbellsville College and Baptist College Seminary.
He had been in the ministry about 50 years serving in Florida, Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee and Pennsylvania and had received Sunday school pins for 47 years with nearly perfect attendance.
Since his illness in 1991 he had sent out Christian cassette tapes around the world.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle "Kitty" Taylor; one sister, Maude Grimes, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- Jane Ann Widner, 43, of
Green Valley Developmental Center, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, in Laughlin Memorial Hospital, Greeneville.
She was a resident of
Green Valley Developmental Center, Greeneville, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sisters, Carolyn Whitaker, Bristol, Virginia, and Kathy Otey,

Johnson City Medical Center Hospital.
She was a native of
Carter County and a former employee of North American Rayon Corporation.
She attended the Free Will Baptist church.
Survivors include her husband, Albert Willis; two daughters, Shelby Blevins and Pat Morton, both of Watauga; one son, Chris Tolley, of the home; her parents, Orville and Edith Chambers Tolley, Piney Flats; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Roston, Piney Flats; one brother, James Dean Tolley, Gray; one granddaughter; and three grandsons.

MARION -- Jerry Alvin Anders, 49, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, in Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport.
He was an employee of Smyth County School Board for 19 years and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Morris Anders; three daughters, Debbie Carol Anders, Aimee Ann Anders and Jessica Dawn Anders, all of Marion; his mother, Lorene Anders, Wytheville; four sisters, Linda Harrington, Brenda Winters, Bonnie Webb and Peggy Russell, all of Atkins; two brothers, Mike Anders, Marion, and David Anders, Atkins; and several nieces and nephews.

Catherine E. Barker
MARION -- Catherine Emily Barker, 72, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was a native of Smyth County where she lived most of her life and was retired from Marion Primary School where she was employed as manager of the cafeteria for over 30 years.
She attended Atkins Baptist Church and was the widow of the Rev. French P. Barker.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Walton, Marion; one sister, Bertha Simms, Sunset, Utah; one brother, Howard Leonard, Pulaski; and one grandson, Michael Walton, Solon, Ohio.

Bonnie M. Boggs
WISE -- Bonnie Mullins Boggs, 81, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, in York Hospital, York, Pa.
She was of the Baptist faith, was a devoted homemaker and was the widow of Newton W. Boggs.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Bell, Sulphur, La., and Marietta Roller, Manchester, Pa.; one son, Gerald Boggs. Red Lion, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Robert Charles
VANSANT -- Robert "Rob" Charles, 101, of Route 1, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, in Bluefield Community Hospital, Bluefield, W.Va.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Buchanan County, a member of Prater Creek Primitive Baptist Church, one of the last surviving U.S. Army veterans of World War I in Buchanan County, and in 1996, was made an honorary member of American Legion Post 164 for his service in World War I.
He was a retired coal miner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Belle Owens Deel Shortridge Charles.
Survivors include two sons, Tollie Charles and Delbert Charles, both of Vansant; one stepdaughter, Bonnie Woods, Vansant; 31 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 40 great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great-grandchildren.
