ELYRIA, Ohio -- Earl Shirley Vestal, 60, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998.
He was a native of Abingdon having lived in Lorain County for 38 years.
He was formerly employed by Foseco of Cleveland as a machine operator, retiring earlier this year.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include three daughters, Roxann Vestal, Gloria Paster and Shannon Dangelo; a son, Butch Vestal; eight grandchildren; two sisters; six brothers; and a friend.

Roy K. Vicars
CASTLEWOOD -- Roy Kent Vicars, 50, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, in Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon.
He was a native of Russell County.
Survivors include his mother, Fannie Vicars, Castlewood; three sisters, Nora Wright, Castlewood, Mildred Horne, Roanoke, and Ginger Finch, Nickelsville, Va.; two brothers, Bruce Vicars, Castlewood, and John Earl Vicars, Hillsville, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Kemp P. Anderson
MARION -- Kemp Preston Anderson, 61, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998 in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
He was retired from MayMead Construction Company and attended South Fork Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Crewey Anderson; a daughter, Sheilea Coble, Monroe, Ga.; a son, Donald Anderson, Rural Retreat; a step-daughter, Missy Bowman, Marion; a step-son, Tony Hayes, Marion; four grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren; a sister, Ida Anderson, Galax, Va.; two brothers, Eldridge Anderson, Troutdale, Va., and Rex Anderson, Woodlawn, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Frank Boyd
CEDAR BLUFF -- Frank Boyd, 81, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, in a Richlands hospital.
He was a native of Buchanan County, a member of the Richlands Tabernacle Church for 48 years, and a retired coal miner employed with Jewell Smokeless. He was a member of UMWA.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hazel Horne Boyd; four daughters, Mrs. Bobby (Geneva) Sanders, Mrs. Fred (Josephine) Altizer and Mrs. Richard (Shirley) Toutaint, all of Williamsburg, and Mrs. Jack (Ruby) Bragunier, Greencastle, Pa.; two sons, Cecil F. Boyd, Mocksville, N.C., and the Rev. Roger Boyd, Cedar Bluff; three sisters, Mrs. Nellie Corns, Honaker, Mrs. Linnie Cole, Sommersville, Ala., and Mrs. Marie Horne, Raven; two brothers, Lincous Blankenship, Doran, Va., and Acie Blankenship, Cedar Bluff; 12 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

APPALACHIA -- Sidney Robert Carty, 38, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, in Lonesome Pine Hospital, Big Stone Gap.
He was a native of Dickenson County.
Survivors include his wife, Alpha Carty; a daughter, Kristen Carty; a son, Robert Thomas Carty, of the home; a sister, Nancy Shelton, Aurora, Ill.; a brother, Ricky Carty, Mount Sterling, Ill.; his maternal grandmother, Victoria Kleist, Nora, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Bishop L. Chastain
GULFPORT, Miss. -- The Rev. Bishop Luther Chastain, 92, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Stanley.
He was a native of Cherokee County, Va., and was a Methodist minister.
He united with the Georgia Conference in 1931, where he served for nine years.
He then transferred to the Holston Conference, where he served until his retirement in 1971.
He served churches in Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia.
After his retirement, he served in Gulfport for the Seashore District, where he served 36 years as director of youth and junior camps and served in other positions in the camping program.
Survivors include a son, Bishop Chastain Jr., Biloxi; two daughters, Doris Mildred Nipper and Carol Lee Roberson, both of Pikeville, Tenn.; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday in Gulfport.

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Mrs. Christine Hunt Cox, 46, of 720 Belmont Drive, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at her home.
She was a native of Tazewell, had been a resident of High Point for the past nine years, and was employed as an LPN with High Point Care Center.
She was of the Church of God faith.
Survivors include her husband, Lilburn Harrison Cox; a son, John C. Cox, High Point; a daughter, Ashely Kay Cox, High Point; her mother, Virginia Kay Martin Hunt, Abingdon; three brothers, Harry E. Hunt, Beckley, W.Va., Robert M. Hunt and Joel S. Hunt, both of Roanoke; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Sandra) Tilson, Wytheville, and Mrs. Jessie (Karen) Helton, Abingdon.

She was a native of Atkins, and a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Rural Retreat.

HILTONS, Va. -- Dolly T. Fleenor, 66, of Route 1, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, at her home.
She was a lifelong resident of Scott County, a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
She attended Heritage Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Dan D. Fleenor Sr.; a daughter, Donna Fleenor Stine, Bristol Tennessee; a son, Dan D. Fleenor Jr., Hiltons; three grandchildren, Vikki Stine, Dan Donald Fleenor III, Daniel Fleenor; and several nieces and nephews.
