Clemence Breeding

LEBANON -- Funeral services for Clemence Breeding will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Russell County Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Earl Hess will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Memorial Cemetery.
Miss Breeding, 67, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, in Russell County Medical Center.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Russell County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James E. Cooke Jr.

ABINGDON -- Graveside services for James E. Cooke Jr. will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Knollkreg Memorial Park by Campbell Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Tolar Jr. will officiate.
Mr. Cooke, 83, of 222 Stonewall Heights, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was a son of the late James E. Cooke and Mildred Morris Crookshank and a graduate of Vanderbilt University. He was a Presbyterian.
Surviving are his wife, Pearl Reed Cumbow Cooke; a son, James E. Cooke III of Abingdon; a daughter, Elizabeth Reed Cooke of New York City; a sister, Jane C. Kennedy of Nashville; three nieces; and a nephew.
Mr. Cooke was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Morris Cooke.
Memorial contributions may be sent to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2787, North Canton, Ohio 44720.
Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John R. Fenyk

MARION -- Funeral services for Dr. John Raymond Fenyk Sr. will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Seaver- Brown Chapel. Pastor James H. Bangle will officiat. Entombment will be in Rose Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
Dr. Fenyk, 79, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, in St. Petersburg, Fla.
He was born in New York City. He received his bachelor of science degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., in 1942 and his doctor of veterinary medicine from Kansas State University in 1946. He was professor of animal husbandry at the University of Arkansas in the late 1940s. For more than 30 years, he practiced general veterinary medicine in Marion and surrounding counties.
He was a life member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association and a member of Southwest Virginia Veterinary Association, the Southern Veterinary Medical Association and East Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association. He was co-founder of Virginia House Furniture Corp., which later became Smyth County's largest employer. He participated in the Democratic Party.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Evelyn Maxine Crawford Fenyk; two sons, Dr. John Raymond Fenyk Jr. of Golden Valley, Minn., and Mark Brach Fenyk of Marion; three daughters, Royann Michelle Fenyk-King of Alexandria, Cynthia Sue F. Courtney of St. Petersburg and Dr. Judith Evelyn Fenyk-Melody of Middletown, N.J.; a sister, Sophia "Penny" F. Scully of St. Petersburg; a brother, Walter D. Fenyk of Harlingen, N.J.; seven grandchildren; a niece; and four nephews.
Alos surviving are daughters-in-law Dianne C. Fenyk of Golden Valley and Sharon L. Fenyk of Marion; sons-in-law Norman Mitchell King of Alexandria, Francis X. Courtney of St. Petersburg and David P. Melody of Middletown; and grandchildren Heather, Julie and Faith Fenyk, Jack and Marin Courtney and Austin and Dylan Melody.
Dr. Fenyk, a beloved husband and father, was proud of his profession and promoted it vigorously, contributing significantly to the construction of the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association headquarters in Richmond.
He was always ready for a lively political discussion, never met a man he did not like, and, in his years of retirement, enjoyed his family, learning, walking, watching the stock market and impromptu card games.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Seaver- Brown Funeral Service Chapel.

Ethel R. Hall

HARMON, Va. -- Ethel Rose Hall, 98, formerly of Route 1, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, in Buchanan General Hospital.
She was born in Dickenson County, a daughter of the late Millard and Virginia Wright Rose. She had made her home with a daughter in Harmon for the past 14 years and was the widow of Andy Caudle Hall.
She was a member of the Church of Brethren in Clintwood and most recently attended Harmon Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Mabel Fields of Abingdon, Barbara Colley of Harmon, Nancy Cunningham of Conroe, Texas, and Irene Christmas of San Antonio, Texas; a son, Vayard Hall of Madison Heights, Mich.; a sister, Maude Rose of Clinchco; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Haysi Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Willard Owens, Larry Younce and Cline Sluss will officiate. Burial will be in Hall Family Cemetery, Route 1, Clintwood.
Mrs. Hall was also preceded in death by a son, Arthur Lee Hall; a sister, Pauly; and five brothers, Auty, Arch, Orie, Steven and Haroce.
Among survivors are sisters-in-law Bonnie Rose and Carrie Rasnick, both of Clintwood; son-in-law Warren Colley of Harmon; and daughter-in-law Lola Hall of Madison Heights.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Tuesday, where a service will be held at 7 p.m.
Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Darrell Glenn Hendrix

CENTREVILLE, Va. -- Darrell Glenn Hendrix, 33, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, in Virginia.
He was a son of Roy and Doris Hendrix of Manchester, Tenn., and a member of Centreville Baptist Church.
Surviving, besides his parents, are his wife, Christie L. Hendrix; two sons, Matthew Stewart Hendrix and Jared Christopher Hendrix; a daughter, Allison Taylor Hendrix; a brother, Keith Hendrix of Manchester; and his grandmother, Beatrice Taylor of Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Smith Mortuary Chapel in Maryville, Tenn. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in Smith Mortuary.

Larry Hess

LEBANON -- Larry "Ett" Hess, 84, formerly of the Horton Ridge section of Raven, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, in a Lebanon hospital.
He was born in Russell County, a son of the late Luther and Bertha Ray Hess, both Russell County natives. He had lived in the Raven area most of his life and was a retired miner. He was of the Holiness faith.
Surviving are five sisters, Waneda Meade of Richlands, Olaf Taylor of Barberton, Ohio, Gladys "Lou" Horton of Raven, Helen Jones of King, N.C., and Peggy Bailey of Akron, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands. The Revs. Carl Robinson and Dennis White will officiate. Burial will be in Hess Family Cemetery on Horton Ridge near Raven.
Mr. Hess was also preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.
Among survivors is a special niece, Delcie Yates of Lebanon with whom he had lived for the past 16 years.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Wednesday in Hurst-Scott Funeral Home.

Pauline McClellan

ABINGDON -- Funeral services for Pauline Lusk McClellan will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Saint Thomas Episcopal Church in Abingdon by Huff-Cook Funeral Home of Castlewood. The Rev. Victor Mansfield will officiate. Burial will be in Temple Hill at Castlewood.
Mrs. McClellan, 79, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
Pallbearers will be board members of the Birthplace of Country Music Alliance.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Music Fund, Saint Thomas Episcopal Church or the BCMA.
Huff-Cook Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Helen McCoy

GRUNDY -- Helen McCoy, 70, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, in Buchanan General Hospital.
She was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Grace McCoy and formerly lived in Pikeville, Ky. She was a resident of Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Grundy for the past year and a member of Harman Holiness Church.
Surviving are six nephews, Rudolph Sesco of Grundy, Billy Sesco and Roger Sesco, both of Anthony, Fla., James McCoy of Finley, Ohio, and Orlanda McCoy and Edward McCoy, both of Finley; three great-nieces; and two great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Danny Hess, Martha Presley and Andy Presley will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock.
Miss McCoy was also preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Sesco; and three brothers, James McCoy, Edward McCoy and Jap McCoy.
Among survivors are nieces-in-law Eunice Sesco of Grundy and Carol McCoy of Finley; brother-in-law Junior Sesco of Anthony; three great-nieces, Brandy Sesco, Chyrstal Sesco and Wendy Prater; and two great-nephews, Robert Sesco and Shane Sesco.
Pallbearers will be Robert McNutt, Jerry Skeens, Shane Sesco, David Prater and Kermit Stiltner.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, where services will be held at 7 p.m.
Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
