James Wilbur Patton III, 46, of Richmond, died Saturday, August 4, 2001. Funeral notice later. K L JORDAN

PEAY
Ruby Dooley Peay, 91, of Richmond, formerly of Danville, went to be with the Lord on August 5, 2001. She was the widow of Carl Peay and is survived by three children, June P. Bookman and her husband, Buck of Richmond, Nan P. Cullop and her husband, Bobby of Midlothian, William W. Peay and his wife, Bobbie of Silver Spring, Md.; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Peay was a lifetime member of Moseley Memorial United Methodist Church in Danville and a member of Ramsey Memorial United Methodist Church in Richmond and she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Kaufman-Brydon Chapter #87. The family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd. The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral services which will be held Tuesday, 1 p.m. at Moseley Memorial United Methodist Church, Danville, Va. Interment in Highland Burial Park, Danville, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ramsey Memorial United Methodist Church.

RAMSEY
Mariana "Dutch" Foster Jordan Ramsey of Kilmarnock, Va., age 76, died on August 4, 2001. She was a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1949 and went back to earn a masters degree in Education from Marymount University in 1984 at age 60. She trained in the Orton method of teaching dyslexic children in the late 1960s. For more than 20 years, she tutored learning disabled children, teaching them how to read, first in Kansas City, Mo. and then in Alexandria, Va. at St. Agnes School, where she became a faculty member in the 1980s. She retired with her husband to Kilmarnock in 1989 and became very active in the community. She served on the Vestry of Grace Episcopal Church on numerous committees including Outreach, Visitors, Christmas Closet, Weekend, Lay Readers, Greeting and others. She was also involved as a receptionist at Historic Christ Church in Irvington; a driver for Meals on Wheels; and a volunteer in the Free Health Clinic, the Red Cross Bloodmobile, the Lancaster Community Library and the Lancaster Community Players. She is survived by her husband, The Rev. Maxwell Rhodes Ramsey; daughter, Elizabeth Witt Ramsey of Alexandria; son, The Rev. Maxwell Rhodes Ramsey of Brookfield, Wis.; brother, The Rev. John Hartley Jordan of Virginia Beach; sister, Katherine Rogers Jordan Moody of Fort Worth, Texas; and two grandchildren, John Stanton Ramsey and Madeleine Michelle Ramsey. She was predeceased by her parents, John Hartley Jordan and Elizabeth Garlick Witt Jordan. Funeral services will be held at Historic Christ Church in Irvington at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2001. Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Northern Neck Free Health Clinic, Kilmarnock, or Hospice Support Services of the Northern Neck, Warsaw, Va., or The Scholarship Fund of Grace Episcopal Church, Kilmarnock, Va.

RICHARDSON
Robert B. Richardson, 50, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord Friday, August 3, 2001. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard J. Richardson and is survived by his sons, Bryan and Joseph Richardson, mother and stepfather, Hazel M. and Bob Nelson; brother, Garland J. Richardson and his wife, Janie; sisters, Lois R. Proffitt and her husband, John, Muriel Mergler and her husband, Frank, and Mabel R. McDonell and her husband, Marshall; and close friend, Pamela. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment Amelia Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

ROBERSON
Mrs. Vista Kidd Roberson, age 55, of Glen Allen, Va., died August 2, 2001. She was s retired employee of the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles with 32 years of service. She is survived by her husband, Daniel C. Roberson of Glen Allen, Va.; daughter and caregiver, Nancy Roberson Johnson and her husband, Robert D. Johnson of Glen Allen, Va.; father, David I. Kidd Jr. of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; sister, Judith K. Goff of Panama City, Fla. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2001, at 11 a.m. in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, N.C., with Rev Chip Cosper officiating. Wrenn Funeral Home, Roanoke Rapids, N.C. in charge of arrangements.

WATKINS
Mrs. Dorothy F. Watkins of Richmond died August 5, 2001. Remains rest at the Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Funeral notice later.

WELLS
Mae B. Wells, 98, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord Saturday, August 4, 2001. She is survived by her devoted sister, Emma Wade; a devoted friend (other sister), Shirley Dunn; loving brother, Floyd Breeden and his wife, Bernice; two devoted nieces, Barbara Wiley and Sandra Wilmoth; a devoted great-niece, Deborah Wilmoth; and several generations of loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wells was a member of Northminster Baptist Church and retired employee of Duplex Envelope Co. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends Monday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Tuesday, 12:30 p.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.

WILSON
Jean L. Wilson, 79, of Chesterfield, died August 4, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Cecil Wilson. Survivors include three sons, David L. Mitchell, Daniel S. Mitchell, and James C. Mitchell; nine grandchildren, and other loving family. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday. Interment East Matoaca Cemetery.

WRIGHT
Zora D'Asdia Wright, age 74, of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., departed this life August 4, 2001. A daughter, Linda Stembridge preceded her in death. She was retired from Clary Lumber Company in Gaston, N.C. She is survived by her husband, P.I. Wright; a daughter, Deborah D. Lyttle and her husband, Richard Lyttle Sr. of Clearwater, Fla.; two sisters, Lidia Sciacca and Elea Badalamenti, both of Palermo, Sicily; son-in-law, Dan Stembridge of Richmond; Va.; two grandchildren, Kim Poli and Dan Stembridge II, both of Richmond; and one great-grandson, Jacob Poli of Richmond, Va. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 6, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Wrenn Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Richard Lyttle Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Wrenn Funeral Home, 1015 West Fifth Street, Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Monday, August 6, 2001 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

AXSELLE
John Frederick Axselle Jr., 82, of Montpelier, died February 28, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mildred C. Axselle; children, Bonnie Axselle Worley, John F. Axselle III and Betty Jo Axselle; grandchildren, Kristen, Jennifer, Lauren and John F. Axselle IV and Josiah Worley; sister, Pat Kennedy. Mr. Axselle served as a First Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII in North Africa and Europe. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Ashland, where he taught the Sanford Sunday School Class, and he was a member of the Independence Ruritan Club. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends Friday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Ashland with interment in Riverview Cemetery. BAUMGARDNER
Alma C. BaumGardner of Richmond passed away Thursday, February 28, 2002. She is survived by her husband, James H. Baumgardner; four children, Clara Spicer, Lynn Beville, Jan Dale and Dawn Baumgardner, all of Richmond; also seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Leona Wyatt of Atlanta, Ga. CAISH
William L. (Bill) Caish Jr., 63, of Richmond, died Thursday, February 28, 2002. He was the widower of Paulette C. Caish. He is survived by his daughter, Susie C. Perkins and her husband, Darrin; his brother, Tony Caish; a granddaughter, Ashley L. Perkins; and other extended family members. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, and where a funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday. CHINA
Departed this life peacefully February 27, 2002, Elizabeth China. Survived by her nieces and nephews, among them Fred China, Deborah T. Robinson, William (Renita) and Ricky (Ruthie) Thornton; other relatives and friends, among them Betty Wilson. Funeral services Saturday, March 2 at 1 p.m. at the Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2705 Hartman St. Rev. Ronald Taylor Sr. officiating. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery. Remains rest at the Martin/Mateen Funeral Home.

COUDRIET
Charles Edward Coudriet, 55, passed away February 28, 2002 after a long and courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Mr. Coudriet took an active role with the Multiple Myeloma Foundation to lobby Congress for more funding for the disease. Mr. Coudriet, a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, was employed with various banks in Virginia and Maryland before returning to his birthplace of Richmond, Va. to work for Dominion Resources where he was president and CEO of Dominion Capital when he retired in December 2001. He also served as a former president and chairman of the board of Saxon Mortgage in Glen Allen, Va. Mr. Coudriet was a board member and former president of the National Home Equity Mortgage Association. He also enjoyed memberships at the Commonwealth Club and the University Club of Washington, D.C. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Jeanette Coudriet. Surviving are his wife, Katherine Furlong Coudriet; his two daughters, Katherine Anne and Charlotte McCauley Coudriet; and his son, Charles Edward Coudriet Jr. Also surviving are his sister, Susan and her husband, Ralph Freeman; and his brother, Steve and his wife, Ginny; and two nieces and two nephews. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with a Christian Vigil Service 7 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 noon Monday at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Park Ave. and Laurel St., Richmond. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Multiple Myeloma Society Research Foundation, 3 Forest St., New Canaan, Conn. 06840.

COWARD
Thomas James "TJ" Coward, 74, of Chesterfield, passed away February 28, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Alma E. Coward; his sons, Thomas R., James R., David L. and Philip R. Coward; brothers, Ottis and Gene Coward, Walter and Kirby Coward of Greenville, N.C.; a sister, Lena Walters; four grandchildren. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday. Interment Dale Memorial Park.
