Talley, Esther Muriel Crabtree

Esther Muriel Crabtree Talley, 95, of Richmond died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Beth Sholom Nursing Home in Richmond.

A Spotsylvania County native, Mrs. Talley had worked as a nurse at Mary Washington Hospital.

She was a nursing graduate of Alexandria General Hospital and a member of First Baptist Church in Richmond.

Survivors include a daughter, Muriel T. Hale of Richmond; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Covenant Funeral Service in Fredericksburg, with the Rev. Joe Womack officiating.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Tabit, Doris Goodrich

NORFOLK - Doris Goodrich Tabit, 91, passed away Friday, May 25, 2007 in a local convalescent center.

She was the daughter of the late Ara Whitmore Goodrich and Harry L. Goodrich, Sr. and the widow of Frank Leslie Tabit.

She was a retired retail buyer for Center Shops for 15 years.

Doris was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Norfolk.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Joan T. Burt and her husband, Fred of Norfolk; a sister, Elva G. Greenstreet of Norfolk; two brothers, Lawrence C. Goodrich of Chester, VA and Lyster Goodrich of Wakefield, VA; two granddaughters, Karen B. Barner and her husband, Mike, and Shari Lynn Sullivan and her husband, John all of Virginia Beach; four great grandchildren, Andrew M. Barner, Sarah Elizabeth Barner, Hannah Marie Sullivan, and Joseph Daniel Sullivan; and a sister in law, Doris L. Goodrich of Mechanicsville, VA.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Harry L. Goodrich, Jr., Woodland Goodrich, and Melvin B. Goodrich.

The family would like to thank the staff at Thornton Hall Convalescent Center for their kindness to Doris.

A memorial funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 in First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. James Wood.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery at 10 a.m. before the memorial service. The family will receive friends at the Cox Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4416 Expressway Dr., Virginia Beach, VA 23452 or to First Presbyterian Church.

Talley, John Iven

NORFOLK - John Iven Talley, 97, of Lens Ave., passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 in a local hospital.

He was a retired assistant manager for Peoples Drug Stores after a 42 year career.

Born in Fluvanna Co., Va., he was the son of the late William and Mary Elizabeth Talley.

Mr. Talley was a member of Fairmont Park United Methodist Church and its Friendship Bible Class.

He was a member of Corinthian Masonic Lodge No. 266 for over 70 years, a member of the Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies, Royal Arch Chapter No. 62, Khedive Shrine Temple, and was a four time past Worthy Patron of the Old Dominion Chapter No. 100, Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Aline E. Talley; a daughter; Donna T. Dana and her husband, David of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, William Lawrence Dana of Washington, D.C., and Christopher David Dana of Virginia Beach.

A graveside funeral service with Masonic rites will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sat., May 22, 2004 in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by. Rev. William Bruner, Rev. Ernest Trueblood.

Cox Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Tanner, Clarence Ray

Clarence Ray Tanner, 73 of Chester, Va. formerly of Rocky Mount, N.C. died on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at his residence with his family and friends.

He was born in Rocky Mount N.C. and was the son of the late Perry C. and Margaret Rose Polard Tanner.

Mr. Tanner was a US Army Veteran having served in Korea and was a retired Heating and Air Conditioning Technician for Chesterfield Schools.

He was a member of the American Legion Post in Washington D.C.

Mr. Tanner is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Tanner, a son Steven Ray Tanner and wife Gwen Carr Tanner of Enon, Va. Two daughters, Terri Lynn Revels and Kelly Dawn Adams and husband, Scott Adams all of Chesterfield.

Four grandchildren, September and Cameron Adams, Kayla and Kaitlin Tanner.

A funeral service will be Friday, May 20, 2005 at 1:00PM. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Rev. Gary McReynolds officiating, Burial to follow at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 7-8:30 P.M.

Talbott, William "Bill"

William "Bill" Talbott, 66, of Chesterfield died suddenly Wednesday August 3, 2005 at his residence.

He was the son of the late William E. Sr. and Virginia Handschuh Talbott.

He was a retired mechanic for Brown and Williamson and ALCOA.

Mr. Talbott enjoyed and was known for the restoring of classic cars.

He is survived by his wife Gracie Talbott, Two sons, Robert Talbott and Brent Talbott of Chesterfield and one grandchild, Jada Talbott of Colonial Heights.

The family will receive friends from 7- 8:30 on Sunday August 7, 2005 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory 2033 Boulevard.

Interment will be private.

Nanny, Mary Frances "Hannah"

Mary Frances "Hannah" Nanny, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2005 in the loving and professional care of the staff of the Hopewell Health Care Center.

She was a lifetime resident of Dinwiddie County, the daughter of the late Moss Hosey and Frances Nash Bridgeman and was the widow of Benjamin W. "Dick" Nanny.

She was a retiree of the Petersburg Branch of the Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company and was a member of the Prospect Christian Church of Dinwiddie County.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Alton D. Lewis and Nancy N. Lewis of DeWitt, daughter Patsy C. Nanny of Dinwiddie, son and daughter-in-law, Vincent Evans and Patricia Davis Nanny of Chester, two Grandchildren, Lauryn Davis Nanny and Paul Vincent Nanny of Chester, a number of nieces and nephews to include a most devoted Nephew and his wife, William F. "Billy" and Phylise S. Lewis of Sutherland and one brother, Dennis C. Bridgeman of Church Road.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 10, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.

Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Rowland, pastor of Smyrna Baptist Church in Dinwiddie and Rev. David Shaffer, pastor of the Bott Memorial Presbyterian Church in DeWitt.

Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George County.

The family will receive friends Friday 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Our mother loved flowers and all of God's nature, but we know she would like Memorial contributions be made to the Crater Community Hospice, 840 W. Roslyn Road, Suite E, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 for their constant vigil in the last day of her life or to the Bott Memorial Presbyterian Church in DeWitt.

Nauseef, Ann J.

Ann J. Nauseef 82 of Colonial Heights, died Monday, March 178, 2003 at her residence.

She was a native of Georgetown, S.C. daughter of the late William O. and Annie Richardson Jordan, and was the widow of James Nauseef.

She was a retired Hair Dresser and a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. She was also a member of the "TOPS" association.

She is survived by a Daughter, Betty N. Elmore of Ashland, Va., a son and daughter in law, James Michael Nauseef and wife Susan, of Colonial Heights, three grandchildren, Patricia Dalton and Husband, Joe, Mary Lou Patterson and Husband Danny, and Jamie Elmore, Three Great Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, among them, a very loving and devoted nieces Margaret Davis and husband (T.L) Davis of Chesterfield.

Mrs.Nauseef was preceded in death by her brother Dr.Matthew D.Jordan who died Monday also.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Ginn and the Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George County.

The family will receive friends at E.Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Tuesday 2-4:30 P.M. and 7-8:30 P.M.

In lieu flowers contributions may be made to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Building Fund 3110 Greenwood ave., Colonial Heights or to The Crater community Hospice, 840 E.Roslyn Rd., Colonial Heights.Va. 23834

Nance, Ruby Lancaster

Ruby Lancaster Nance, 96, of Colonial Heights, passed away peacefully in Charlottesville, Virginia on Wednesday, February 13, 2002.

She was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church and the widow of Ralph E. Nance, Sr.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph E. and Elaine Nance of Colonial Heights; a daughter, Betty N. Westfall of Troy, VA; seven grandchildren, Kathy Nance and Mark Nance both of Colonial Heights, Terry N. Dereski of Prince George, Linda N. Worrell of Colonial Heights, Sherry Westfall of Troy, VA, William L. Westfall, Jr. of Charlottesville and Cindy W. Stevens of Troy, VA and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2002 at 12 noon in the Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights with the Rev. Betsy Basehore officiating.

Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060 or Washington Street United Methodist Church.

O'Bryant, Bernard Waverly

Bernard Waverly O'Bryant, 73, of Dinwiddie, passed from this life Sunday, April 4, 2004 at his residence for his homecoming to be with the lord.

He was the son of the late John Russell, Sr. and Elsie Mae Spicer O'Bryant.

He was retired from Rose's Dept. Stores, Inc and a member of Covenant Christian Fellowship Church.

He is survived by his wife Janet G. O'Bryant; nieces and spouses, Brenda and Larry Barker of Richmond, Norma and Robert Deeds of Dinwiddie, Tammy Outlaw of Chester and Sharon O'Bryant of Haymarket, VA; nephews and spouses, Lynn and Debbie Williams of Petersburg, Lee Williams, Jr. and fiancée Michelle of Sutherland, Steven Gobble of Colonial Heights, Samuel Williams of Dinwiddie and two great-nephews Robert L. Williams and Patrick Deeds; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles and Betty Aders of Sutherland, George and Christine Silvey of Prince George, Lee and Diane Williams of Dinwiddie.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 9, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. in Covenant Christian Fellowship, 542 South Park Blvd, Colonial Heights.

The Rev. Michael Murray will officiate.

Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 7 until 8:30 P.M. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
