BARNER
Daisy R. Barner, 81, of Richmond, and formerly of Amelia, Va., entered eternal rest August 9, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Barner and a son, David Harris. She is survived by four daughters, Viola Whitehurst, Rebecca Hargrove, Irene Barfield, and Daisy Nickens; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Her remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where the family will receive friends Monday, 7 to 8 p.m. Remains will lie in state Tuesday, 12 noon at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1920 Fairmount Ave., where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Dr. Victor L. Davis officiating. Burial Oakwood Cemetery.

BEHRENS
Edith Chisholm Behrens, wife of Dr. Paul E. Behrens of Richmond, and formerly of Charlottesville, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2002. Memorial arrangements are pending at the Central Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave.

BOHANNON
Mr. George Thomas Bohannon Sr., 60, of Glen Allen, Va., passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Nancy M. Bohannon; two sons, George T. Jr. and his wife, Robin, and Travis S.; mother, Helen Bohannon; three brothers, Tony, Eddie and Mike Bohannon; one sister, Patricia Gill; five grandchildren. Mr. Bohannon was a retired, self-employed welding contractor and an associate with A Major Music. His remains rest at the West Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad Street Rd., where the family will receive friends on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2002. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.

BRANCH
Joanna Taylor Branch, 72, of Bon Air, passed away August 10, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland H. Branch and Joe Kluck. She is survived by her children, William Frank Kluck and Jo Ellen Enders; two stepchildren, Nancy Walters and David Branch; grandchildren, Candra Kluck, Justin and Joshua Enders and seven step-grandchildren. Joanna was a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia School of Nursing, Class of 1951 and also a member of the Alumni Assoc. She was a member of Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, the Women's Golf Assoc. of Salisbury Country Club, and Eastern Star of West Virginia. A volunteer with Richmond Animal League and former member of Chesmond and Bon Air Women's Clubs. Longtime member of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church, 1100 Mt. Pisgah Drive. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Richmond Animal League, Inc., 11401 International Drive, Richmond, Va. 23236.

BROWN
Departed this life August 10, 2002 in Riverside Tappahannock Hospital, Annie Bernice Brown of Newtown, Va. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara A. Brown of St. Stephens Church, Doris Beazley of Sparta; two sons, Alvin W. Brown and Jerry Brown of St. Stephens Church; two sisters, Louise Dabney and Margaret Harvey of St. Stephens Church. The body will lie in state Monday, August 12 from 12 noon until 7 p.m. at Washington Funeral Home, Tappahannock. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 13, at 1 p.m. at First Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Newtown. Rev. T. Scott Swan, Pastor. Interment in the church cemetery. Remains rest at Washington Funeral Home, Tappahannock.

COLLYER
Bette Brugger Collyer, 73, of Mechanicsville, widow of John William Collyer Jr., departed this life and went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 11, 2002. She is survived by her mother, Rose Allen Bauer; two sons, Richard Lee Brugger and Allen Neil Brugger and his wife, Tammy; two grandsons, Eric Allen and Ryan Neil. She is also survived by her half sister, Donna Baker Estep; and nephew, Patrick Parsons; and a host of friends in and around New York and Virginia. Mrs. Collyer was born in Rochester, N.Y., April 6, 1929. She worked as a commercial artist with Galeski and Spencer Printing. She recently worked for American Greeting Cards. She also was a committee chairman with the American Legion Auxiliary Post 144. She was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church. Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment Washington Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. COUVREZ
Jesse Couvrez of Richmond died August 8, 2002. Surviving are one son, Wayne E. Couvrez Sr. (Antoine); one stepson, Michael T. Boston Sr.; nine grandchildren; one sister, Zelma C. Wilson (Lloyd) of Philadelphia, Pa.; host of nieces, nephews, cousins; one sister-in-law, Ruby Clevert; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. COX
Mildred Carr Cox, 90, of 7363 Princess Anne Dr., Mechanicsville, Va., passed away at her home on Saturday, August 10, 2002. She was born in Atkinson, N.C., on January 3, 1912. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Eugene Black Carr and Bessie Eugenia McIntyre of Wallace, N.C. Her husband, W.N. Cox preceded her in death. She is survived by her three sons, Dr. William N. Cox and his wife, Molly of Calabash, N.C., Oscar Eugene Cox and his wife, Mary of Richmond, Va., and John Alfred Cox and his wife, Dottie of Ashland, Va. In addition, she is survived by a brother, E.B. Carr of Teachey, N.C.; sister, Catherine Elizabeth Carr Marshburn of Chesapeake, Va.; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; a devoted caregiver and friend, Shirley A. Shaner. She went to school in Broadway, N.C., graduating from Boone Trail High School and attended Flora McDonald College before enrolling and graduating from Elon College with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught for a number of years in both North Carolina and Virginia, her last job being first grade teacher at Mechanicsville Elementary in Virginia. She was a devoted wife, a wonderful Mom, a devout christian and a caring teacher and human being. She had a fine sense of humor and a cheerful smile which always warmed the hearts of those around her. All of her decendants will attest to the wonderful influence that she had on their lives. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 14, 11 a.m. at Ginter Park Presbyterian Church. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. CREED
Mrs. Elizabeth Madison Creed, 92, of Richmond, a very loving and devoted mother, and widow of James Oliver Creed, went to be with the Lord on August 9, 2002. She was preceded in death by two children, Garland Wade Creed and Margaret Stepp; and is survived by one son, James Wayne Creed and his wife Joanne; four daughters, Mary Caudle and her husband, Luther, Shirley Jones, Dot DeLuca and her husband, Carmen, Diane Carey and her husband, David; one son-in-law, Robert Stepp; 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Creed was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Interment will follow in Dale Memorial Park.

CRICKENBERGER
Neff Crickenberger, age 89, of Urbanna, widower of Susie Robins Crickenberger, died Saturday, August 10, 2002. He was a member of Forest Chapel United Methodist Church and Urbanna Lodge #83 AF&AM. He was farm manager of Corbin Hall Farm, Samos until 1957, when he moved to Oxford, Md. and became manager of Otwell Farm. He held this position until his retirement in 1986, when he and Susie returned to Middlesex. He was predeceased by his son, James N. Crickenberger, and is survived by a daughter, Suzanne C. McGann and husband, Paul of Drexel Hill, Pa. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home, Saluda. Interment Forest Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Warner. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and where a Masonic memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to Forest Chapel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 425, Saluda, Va. 23149 or Central Middlesex Vol. Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 790, Urbanna, Va. 23175.

DAVIS
Wilbert James Davis of 3100 Moss Side Ave., died August 8, 2002. Surviving are two sons, James Wilbert Davis Jr. of New Carrolton, Md. and Clifton E. H. Davis of Richmond; one daughter, Nadine Lynn Hall Corbin of Philadelphia, Pa.; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one brother, George Davis of Maryland; one sister, Helen Strothers of Washington, D.C.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where the family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. Rev. DERIEUX
Sara Frances Young Derieux died Friday, August 9, 2002 after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Samuel A. Derieux; a daughter, Justin Derieux Frackelton; son-in-law, R. Leigh Frackelton Jr.; and two grandchildren, Sara Carter Frackelton and Robert L. Frackelton III. Mrs. Derieux was a graduate of Westhampton College of the University of Richmond, a member of The Country Club of Virginia, the Tuckahoe Woman's Club and the Colonial Dames. She was a past president of the Westham Garden Club and a former member of The Woman's Club. As a member of the Council of The Virginia Museum, she volunteered as a museum hostess for many years. She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Richmond. Prior to that, she had been a member of Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church at Fishersville, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at 210 Westham Parkway, Richmond. Funeral services will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 6000 Grove Ave., at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13 with burial in Hollywood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Women of St. Stephen's, Westminster Canterbury Foundation or a charity of choice.

DIXON
Eugene T. Dixon, 59, of Quinton, went to be with the Lord Friday, August 9, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tiny R. Dixon. He is survived by his children, Vickie Hite, Peggy Putze, James Dixon and Janet Andrews; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Beverly Dixon. Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday and Monday, and where services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. EVERETT
Tiffani M. Everett of Taylor Rd., Chesapeake, departed this life on August 9, 2002 at Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk, Va., after an extended illness. She was the daughter of Samuel and Barbara Warren Jones of Suffolk and Floyd and LaFon Everett of Richmond. A service celebrating her life will be at 11 a.m. August 14, Piney Grove Baptist Church, 1071 Carrsville Hwy., Franklin, Va., with Pastor William A. Freeman Sr., delivering the eulogy. The interment will be in Suffolk at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens on Shoulders Hill Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lupus Foundation. Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 224 South Main St., Franklin, is handling funeral arrangements.

HOFMANN
Edward E. Hofmann of Richmond, departed this life August 11, 2002. Today we mourn the loss, celebrate the life and rejoice in the resurrection of Ed, a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Betty Loving Hofmann; son, Edward E. Hofmann Jr. and his wife, Ellen O.-B. Hofmann; grandson, Seth O'Brien Hofmann; brothers, Dean Hofmann and his wife, Roanne of Olathe, Kan., Paul Hofmann and his wife, Marilyn of Eldridge, Iowa, and Dale Hofmann of Canada; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert E. and Brenda G. Loving. Ed was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he had spent his last years of service at the Lakeside Branch. He was an active member of Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church. During the years that his health did not permit him to attend church, he kept an active card ministry. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. LEWIS
Katie Eleanor Lewis, age 83, of Lawrenceville, Va., died August 11, 2002. She is survived by a niece, Julia L. Jones of Emporia; and a nephew, Alfred M. Lewis of Clearwater, Fla. Funeral servies will be conducted 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Williams Funeral Home, Lawrenceville. Interment in Bethel Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, Alberta.
