Lora Mitchell Martin, born January 22, 1907, died January 23, 2001. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday (today) at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.

MILLS
James A. Mills (Pete), 64, of Highland Springs, died Wednesday, January 24, 2001. He was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Colley and is survived by three daughters, Lana Sue Jarrett of Salisbury, Md., Bonnie Gale Messer of Glen Allen and Wanda Lee Smith and her husband, Gary Lee of Varina; a special daughter, Tanya Rene Lane; grandchildren, James Michael Conway, George Allen Conway, Joseph Franklin Hubbard, Andrew Cecil Messer, James Glenn Powers, Mikala Lee Smith, Becky Lee Smith; one great-grandchild, Katherine Ella Powers; five brothers, three sisters; a devoted friend and companion, Carolyn Lane; and many other devoted nieces, nephews and friends. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 12 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. A graveside service will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, Forest Lawn Cemetery.

MILTZ
Linda C. Miltz of Mechanicsville died January 19, 2001. She is survived by her father, Linwood C. (Lindy) Miltz; stepmother, Marie Fowler Miltz of Richmond; sister, Dianne Miltz Tate of Caroline County; niece, Sherry Lynn Clare and husband, Chris; nephews, Glenn David Loving and wife, Rebecca of Chesterfield County, Christopher Sullivan and wife, Cindy of northern Virginia; three great-nieces, Julia and Amy Clare, and Shannon Sullivan; great-nephew, Colin Sullivan; and several aunts and uncles. Memorial Mass at Church of the Redeemer, 8275 Meadowbridge Rd., Mechanicsville, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2001. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to SPCA or American Diabetes. Assoc., 2800 Parham Rd.

NEWBILL
William B. Newbill of 505 Hunt Ave. passed away January 25, 2001. Funeral notice later.

ODENHEIMER
Frances Whichard Odenheimer of Richmond died Tuesday, January 23, 2001. She was the widow of Frank G. Odenheimer III, having shared 51 happy years of marriage. She is survived by three children, James W. Odenheimer of Pittsburgh, Pa., Carolyn O. Andersson of Baltimore, Md. and Susan O. Chappelle of Richmond. She has one daughter-in-law, Jeanne Odenheimer of Pittsburgh; and two sons-in-law, Dean J. Chappelle of Richmond and John Andersson of Baltimore; two granddaughters, Kristina and Nikki Chappelle of Richmond, who commonly referred to her as "Gibble"; and a grandson, Brooks Andersson of Baltimore. Also she is survived by three sisters, Cay Lewis of Richmond, Amanda Cebrowski of Fairfax, Va. and Susan Cliatt of Colorado Springs, Colo. She was a devoted wife and a wonderful mother. After her husband's retirement, she moved to Kill Devil Hills, N.C. For 14 years, she was a very active member of St. Andrews-By-The-Sea Episcopal Church. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2001, in the Fellowship Hall at Cedarfield, 2300 Cedarfield Parkway, Richmond. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrews-By-The-Sea Building Fund, St. Andrews By The Sea, P.O. Box 445, Nags Head, N.C. 27959.

PAGAC
Died January 25, 2001, Frank J. "Pop" Pagac, 76, of Ashland. He is survived by his wife, Gale Cauthorn Pagac; his son and daughter-in-law, Frank Jr. and Angie Pagac; his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Franklin Henley; four grandchildren, Lauren and Josh, Ashton and Jordan; two sisters, Lillie Tucker and Mary Ballard. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and where services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment Calvary Christian Church Cemetery, Glen Allen. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Independence Christian Church Endowment Fund, 14023 Independence Rd., Ashland 23005 or Ashland Volunteer Rescue Squad, Post Office Box 667, Ashland 23005.

PETERS
Spencer Wilson Peters, five weeks old, son of Alan and Brandy Peters of Mechanicsville, died Wednesday, January 24, 2001. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Savannah; maternal grandparents, Fred and Janet Wilson; paternal grandparents, Geoff and Lucy Peters; maternal great-grandmother, Barbara Jean Wilson; and paternal great-grandmothers, Louise J. Trotter and Agnes E. Peters. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 27. Interment in Signal Hill Memorial Park.

PHILLIPS
Hazel Trice Phillips, 101, of the Hermitage, formerly of Ashland, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2001. She was the widow of V. Lance Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Hazel Phillips Lipsey. She is survived by two sisters, Iris Cowels and Bernice Monte; three granddaughters, Martha L. Michaels, Sharon L. Drelick and Susan L. Gott; and one great-grandson, J. Ahern Daniel Drelick. Her remains rest at the Reid Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 28. Graveside services will be held 12 noon on Monday, January 29, at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

RANDOLPH
Miss Hazel Virginia Randolph of 3406 Enslow Ave. departed this life January 23, 2001. She is survived by one sister, Ruth L. Valentine; a devoted caregiver, Gwendolyn Crawford; and a host of relatives. The family may be contacted at 329-3406.

Elizabeth Riddick of 3301 Austin Ave. entered eternal rest January 24, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, William O. Riddick. Cherishing her memory are her daughter, Marguerite Riddick Beard; her granddaughter, Tracye Beard Riddick (Donald); one great-grandson, William O. Riddick II; three devoted nieces, Jean R. Williams of Philadelphia, Pa., Joyce S. Allen and Carolyn R. Harris; one sister-in-law, Maria J. Riddick; and a host of great-nieces, nephews, and friends. Harry Alfred "Butch" Self, 45, of Reedville, died Tuesday, January 23, 2001. He was the dockmaster for Buzzard Point Marina. Surviving are his mother, Betty Lewis Vanlandingham of Callao; daughter, Bryiane Delano; son, Travis Delano; a special friend, Tammy Lafollette of Reedville; sisters, Sandy S. Davis of Callao and Penny B. Moss of Dunnsville; brother, Roy G. Self of Waterview; special uncle, Gilliam Lewis of Callao; and many friends who dearly loved him. Services will be Friday (today) at 2 p.m. at Jones-Ash Funeral Home, Rainswood, where friends may call from noon until service time. Memorials may be made to Northumberland Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1, Reedville, Va. 22539.

SHULER
Bernice Aldridge Shuler, 72, of Richmond, widow of Darrell L. Shuler, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2001. She is survived by one son, Robert L. Shuler and wife, Ann, of Nebane, N.C.; one daughter, Linda S. Marley and husband, Howard of Chesterfield; two brothers, Charles L. Aldridge of Raleigh, N.C. and Herbert M. Aldridge of Hopewell; also three grandchildren, Sean C. Marley, Kristen E. Marley and James H. Shuler. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Johnston Willis Rehab Unit, 1401 Johnston-Willis Drive, Richmond, Va. 23235. Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2001 at Appomattox Cemetery, Hopewell, Va.

SMITH
Evelyn Crowder Smith, 99, of Westminster-Canterbury, widow of E. Milton Smith, died Thursday, January 25, 2001. She is survived by her niece, Elizabeth B. Bache of Richmond; two grandchildren, William Burrows of Tennessee and Deborah Burrows of Lynchburg; two great-grandchildren, Lacy and Darby Burrows; and many other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith was retired from the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. She was a member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church and was a former member of the Ginter Park Woman's Club. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 27, in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Westminster-Canterbury Fellowship Fund or St. Giles Presbyterian Church. Arrangements by the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home.

SPEEKS
Paul M. Speeks Jr., 31, of Chesterfield, died Wednesday, January 24, 2001. He is survived by his parents, Michael and Linda Speeks; his brother, Kevin Speeks; his paternal grandmother, Shirley Speeks; his maternal grandfather, Hughlon Arnold Williams; his uncle, Randall Speeks; and his aunt and uncle, Martha and Frank Williams. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and where services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment Dale Memorial Park. Mr. Speeks graduated from VCU in August 2000.

Louise T. Spence, 85, of Ashland, died Thursday, January 25, 2001. Survivors include three sons, Gary, James and William Ball; a daughter, Mary Riddle; two brothers, Frank and Clifton Taylor; ten grandchildren. Services and interment private. Arrangements by Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel.

Departed this life January 23, 2001, Mrs. Thelma R. Staves of 2414 Third Ave. She was preceded in death by a son, Leroy B. Staves III. She is survived by her husband, Leroy Staves Jr.; two sons, Ronald L. and Stanley F. Staves; two daughters, Deborah S. Hodges and Monica S. Brown; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one brother, Samuel O. Walker Jr.; one sister, Vivian M. Thompson; a host of nieces and nephews, two daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, one brother-in-law, five sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Mrs. Frances Williams Stiff, age 80, of Richmond, died Wednesday, January 24, 2001. Widow of William Thomas Stiff, she is survived by three cousins, Nell Rose Cline, Margaret Childress, both of Richmond, McFoy W. Steinhardt of Courtland, Va.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Appel of Richmond; brother-in-law, Martin Trusik of Richmond; a niece, Shirley A. Way of Beaufort, N.C.; three great-nephews, David, Michael and Brian Way; a devoted friend, Mrs. Margaret King of Richmond. Mrs. Stiff was retired from McGuire Veterans Hospital, member of Northminster Baptist Church, the Alpha Class, past member of Ginter Park Woman's Club, and a member of N.A.R.F.E. Remains rest at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Northminster Baptist Church Chapel, 3121 Moss Side Ave, Richmond. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Paulette Turner, 45, of Glen Allen, Va., entered into eternal rest January 23, 2001. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Archie Turner; two sons, Ken Kenny and Antonio Turner; one daughter, LaWanda Turner; son-in-law, Gregory Turner; one grandson, Aaron Kenny; five brothers, four sisters, and a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Robert Mealy Funeral Home, Goochland, Va. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 27, 2 p.m., at St. Mark Baptist Church, Maidens, Va., Rev. Dr. Marshall Burgess officiating. Interment Kenny Family Cemetery.

Robert M. (Milton) Wiggins Sr. of 2901 Barwood Road, formerly of Chesterfield, Va., died suddenly January 20, 2001. He was preceded in death by his father, John R. Harvell. Surviving are his wife, Dru Wiggins; son, Robert M. (Bobby) Wiggins Jr.; mother, Jessie W. Harvell; three sisters, Otelia C. Boswell, Bettie L. Claiborne and Linda A. Lynch; four aunts, Dorothy Wiggins, Willie Anna Wiggins, Ruby Warren and Carrie P. Williams; three uncles, Calvin Harvell, Herman Harvell and Harold Butler; four nephews, two nieces, two brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Wiggins was an employee of Philip Morris Incorporated. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Boulevard, where the family will receive friends Friday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. After 12 noon Saturday, remains will rest in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 3200 E. Broad Street, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Rev. Dr. William E. Jackson officiating. Interment Roselawn Memory Gardens.
